Emily Freeman and Simon Dewey collaborated on the bestselling book The Ten Virgins. For nearly 20 years, Emily has addressed groups of women as a writer, songwriter, and motivational speaker. Her deep love of the scriptures comes from a strong desire to find their application in modern-day life. Emily and her husband, Greg, are the parents of four children and live in Lehi, Utah.
A beautiful reminder of the hope, healing, and light that can come as we the Master more clearly. (New perspectives on the story captured in the New Testament when Christ teaches the Samaritan woman at the well.)
This is an easy read and because of the size of the book can be read in 15 minutes or less. The follows the scriptures of the woman at the well. In between the scriptures it tells in first person what the woman is thinking.
I also read her sources in the back and in the very back she has questions such as, how thirsty are you?
The real value of the book comes after you have read the book and the questions. You ponder your own relationship with the Savior. How long has it been since you last tasted the water from His well? etc. That is the real value of the book, and what I believe both the author and the illustrator were trying to accomplish.
This short book is a sweet, yet familiar story to many Christians. Emily Freeman's beautiful narrative brings the Woman we know to life and gives her a name. Simon Dewey's Life-like Art compliments her tale telling nicely.
Please do not miss out on the first and last few pages if this inspiring story. I found the Introduction a soul searching experience, even before I read the meat of the Story.
I really like her writing style. It is clear that she is a student of the scriptures and ponders them deeply. I appreciate her insight and have enjoyed reading this book as a supplement to my own study of the scriptures. I look forward to reading her "21 Days Closer to Christ" that my husband bought me for Valentine's.
I loved the idea of this book- telling the story of the woman at the well in a picture book form. It was beautiful. I really enjoyed the references at the end that show how the details of the story came about.
This quick read tells the story of the Samaritan woman who meets Jesus at Jacob's well from the viewpoint of the woman. The pictures are gorgeous, and the text prompts some introspection about how thirsty we are for the living water.
This book made it easy to identify with one or more of each of the ten virgins. Brings them to life and puts perspective on what I need to improve to know my Savior better. A good read.
Beautiful artwork, a favorite Scripture story. OK, they've done the Ten Virgins and the Woman at the Well. If they'll just do more of my favorite stories---Martha and Mary?
A friend of mine wrote this book. The text causes one to ponder how deeply does one really thirst after truth and the power of the Savior in one's life. The illustrations are beautiful.
The artwork is breathtaking and the message is clear... how much do we really thirst after truth and the influence of the Savior in our life? A great reminder...
