“I did, and you will. I didn’t say when. Time doesn’t exist here, my dear. I figured you knew that by now. These are the Halls of Dolor. Everything is a game and everything hurts. One day I’ll get bored tormenting you, but not today.”

This book is awesome. I didn't know what to expect when it said it was previously titled 50 Shades of Hell. I knew that if it turned out to be anything like that 50 Shades of Grey, then I would hate it. Plus, I normally avoid demon and ghost stories. I usually prefer real life horror
But man oh man this book was great. Sex torture, normal torture, all kinds of torture. When there are perimeters in a book that makes death impossible, it opens the door to any kind of physical pain and you don't have to worry about the character dying or passing out. This book is total greatness

Blood, gore, steamy scenes, and a cheese grater. Who could ask for a better book? Tim Miller will definitely test your limits in this book. I am so glad I own this in paperback. This is my most favorite from this author by far.

Bruce and Karen move into a house that reminds you of American Horror Story murder house as it says in the book. Read this book with caution. This book will not disappoint.

Love the torturing!

Once again the book takes us into the lovely Hall of Dolor. All the trials that Bruce goes through for the love of Melissa is crazy. I guess people will go through anything to be with the one they love such as a Sea of Lava. I really liked Gorn's sense of humour. He really does enjoy making people suffer and go through never ending pain. I was completely surprised how the book ended. You never know what surprise is in store for you with Gorn.

Wow!! First off let me say thank you to the author for this freebie!
This is not exactly my normal kind of reading material but due to the crazy CoronaVirus pandemic that is sweeping across the entire planet, this was a welcomed distraction!
And... I actually really ended up liking Demon Lust the whole way thru.
**Warning** It's pretty damn disgusting so if that's not your thing (it's not really mine, I dont think?? lol), then you may wanna pass. I was cringing my way thru some parts.
I think I may wanna check out what else Tim Miller has up his sleeve. Maybe... just maybe. But am i brave enough? We soon shall find out...

I love that the author didn't let any character development or plot get in the way of the story he wanted to tell. I don't think this was meant to be a comedy, but it was a hilarious listen as an audiobook.

A house where a mass murder had happened, a macabre, sordid past, some say it was a satanic cult. Some say the house is still haunted. A couple decide to buy it and move in. The husband finds a strange hidden door in a closet. He keeps this secret to himself and finds an article of the murders and a diary. The diary had information about summoning demons for pleasure and pain. Hellraiser vibes coming through. The husband finds a sexy ghost, a demon and he gives himself to her. He kills for her and small hideous creatures take the dead body away. Yes I know this is copying Hellraiser. Yes Julia did the same thing for Frank. These demons were killed out of Hell and give pain and pleasure. Depravity, sick vile acts committed and the suffering is relentless. And Yes it is copying Hellraiser. But that is not a bad thing. Pinhead is better than Gorn by far.

I was excited to read a Tim Miller book that had the usual elements of horror, but with some supernatural twists. Fifty Shades of Hell was undoubtedly the book that fit the bill. It was intense, extremely brutal, and at times even disgusting as several scenes had me fighting slight waves of nausea.
I was very intrigued by the multiple layers of the story. Karen and Bruce appeared to be a solid couple, until the introduction of the ghost, Melissa. This love triangle and all the ensuing trials made for some interesting and cringe-worthy reading. The lengths that Bruce went to while pursuing Melissa were shocking. I wanted to shake some sense into Karen as she worked to get to him.
This book was definitely dark and kept up the shock and awe with every chapter.

Fifty Shades of Hell is the truest name for this book. At first you'll think that this isn't what you usually read by Tim Miller, but don't be fooled. If anything, this book is more messed up then his others, and that's saying something. There's torture, gore and a huge cheese grater! All the components for the ever loving Tim Miller books are here but times ten. This is a crazy plot, but it's good. What happens when you want someone so bad, what will you go through just to get to be with that person? Bruce will go through fifty shades of Hell, to be with his dead girl, Melissa. Bravo Tim for another messed up, cringe worthy book!

Not my usual reading material, but this book was pretty awesome.

Bruce gets seduced by a mysterious dead woman and literally goes through hell for her as his WIFE goes through hell for him.

The description of everything was crazy and I had to scrunch my nose a few times at the severity (not a bad thing, just imagined it really well thanks to details) of the trials.

I'm pretty satisfied with the ending. Definitely didn't see it coming and even giggled to myself.

I can't wait to read more from Tim Miller!

I NEED to get a physical copy of this book to add to my collection, that's how much I enjoyed it!

If you're squeamish or easily offended by violence, gore, and sex, then this book is not for you. If, like me, you get off on those things, then by all means, pick up a copy. You'll find it very arousing. I've read most of Tim Miller's work, and "Fifty Shades of Hell" is one of his best.

Outstanding

This unique love story between a love triangle that horrifically ends terribly. This bizarre story reminds me of Fifty Shades of Grey and Hellraiser! Gorn could possibly be pinhead.

Erotic Extreme Horror just doesn't sound right, but that's what this is. Some of it is kinky but most of it is just disturbing and gory. Exactly what you'd expect from a Tim Miller book! This is not for someone with a weak stomach. Extreme horror fans only! lol

While it starts much better than Miller's abominable "Butcher Bitch" and actually seemed like some decent erotic horror in the vein of Ray Garton at first, "Fifty Shades of Hell" soon turns out to be another self-published amateur-league horror novel like they are spewed forth onto the ebook market by the hundreds these days. Miller does the only thing he seems to be capable of which is simply trying to score points through extremity while neglecting any form of solid storytelling, character arcs or logic.

The few good ideas that are included here are all invariably stolen from other authors. The whole Halls of Dolor scenario is a blatant rip-off (note: not homage!) of Clive Barker's Hellraiser universe including lots of lustful torture, metal hooks and of course Cenobites (heck, all Miller does is calle them Clerics, the creative fucker!). Karen's flaying scene is almost a one on one copy from Pascal Laugier's "Martyrs" and the list goes on and on.

Without any creative spark or story to speak of "Fifty Shades of Hell" is just a pointless sequence of torture and sex scenes that serve no other purpose than trying to shock the reader (and failing at that as no one gives a rat's ass about Miller's wooden characters and what happens to them). If that is enough for you in order to have a good time just consider buying some Edward Lee or Wrath James White instead. These guys at least have a certain amount of creativity in them when it comes to sick stuff they think up even if they cannot be considered great writers.

If you want to read some good oldschool erotic horror however, try your hands at Ray Garton's "The New Neighbor" and if you like it a bit more extreme but executed with style and vigor make sure you check out C.V. Hunt's "Ritualistic Human Sacrifice" which is a great read. In fact both of these novels blow this lazy piece of writing out of the water easily. Avoid!

My biggest problem with this book is that from the very start it becomes a race from one grotesque set-piece to another. Now don’t get me wrong, I like grotesque, but I also like a little character development. Miller’s characters exist purely to suffer and as a result, it’s hard to care.

Tim Miller’s Fifty Shades of Hell is a bold and visceral exploration of extreme horror that dives headfirst into grotesque imagery, supernatural terror, and unrelenting brutality. While the story’s premise and execution are undeniably creative, the relentless focus on graphic violence and sexualized horror can be overwhelming, leaving little room for emotional depth or character development.

The story follows Bruce and Karen, a newlywed couple who purchase a house with a dark history of satanic rituals and murder. At first, the house seems like a quirky project—until Bruce discovers a hidden attic containing relics of its macabre past, including the diary of Melissa Hunt, a woman who died there decades ago.

🚨 Spoiler Alert 🚨
Melissa’s ghost seduces Bruce, drawing him into a supernatural realm known as the Hall of Dolor. To maintain access to her world, Bruce must make sacrifices—literal ones. His descent into darkness is fueled by his obsession with Melissa, whose seductive yet malevolent nature is the story's driving force.

The graphic nature of the sacrifices, particularly Bruce’s murder of a sex worker to summon Melissa, is a turning point in the book. The Hall of Dolor is depicted as a horrifying dimension of pain and pleasure, populated by eyeless creatures and scenes of grotesque torture. The imagery is intense and relentless, with moments like Bruce’s initiation into Melissa’s world leaving a lasting impact.

A standout quote captures the story’s unsettling core:
“Pain is love, and love is pain. To feel is to live, and to suffer is to truly understand.”

While the premise and execution are undeniably unique, the book’s pacing suffers from its focus on extreme horror over character exploration. Karen’s perspective adds some emotional weight as she struggles to save Bruce from Melissa’s grip, but her arc feels underdeveloped compared to the graphic spectacle of Bruce’s journey.

Overall, Fifty Shades of Hell is a gripping, horrifying tale that caters to fans of extreme horror. It’s unapologetically dark and shocking, but its reliance on gore and explicit content might not resonate with every reader.

The cover blurb calls this "Fifty Shades meets Hellraiser," which is an apt description. It has all the sadomasochistic erotica of the latter, and all the narrative flair and literary depth of the former. Fifty Shades of Hell is dark, cruel, violent, erotic, and disgusting, but it's a visceral experience that ultimately feels empty.

Tim Miller does some exciting things with the concept, and certainly knows how to deliver on the thrills and the chills. There was a scene about halfway through where he transformed me from curious to fascinated, popping Bruce's eyes with a pair of knives, before having a pair of demonic men thrust their members into the empty sockets until they touch his brain, and then leaving their seed to leak out along with his tears. That, for me, was the WTF moment, and it just got more extreme from there.

Just about every line you can imagine is crossed here, betraying boundaries of romance, morality, and sexuality. On the one hand you have people skinned alive, burned alive, eaten alive, and shredded into pieces. On the other hand, you have these same people forced to endure all manner of forbidden penetrations, with tools of flesh, metal, and more. The amount of detail invested in the description of Hell is exquisite, going far beyond mere hooks and blades.

Where the book falls short, and where I think the novella could be expanded into a much stronger novel, is in the characterization. Miller never gets into the characters heads, never lets us know what they're really thinking, and shies away from exploring their motivations. Why do people do these things? What drives them? What pushes them to accept such betrayals? For a story so strong with physical and visual horror, the addition of the emotional and intellectual would have pushed it over the top.

Interesting concept, average delivery

I was hoping for a better delivery of story, but what I got was a time filler. Some of the trials seemed cheesy and the dialogue was poor at times. Average rating for an average story.

Oh Miller...
Dirty Dirty Diiiirty. This really was like a Hellraiser erotica!! And yes, I'm sure that Fifty Shades of Grey housewife smut too but I wouldn't know personally.
Pure erotic romance...ew gross.
I needs graphic dismemberments and castrations aplenty with my sexy love making stories! Otherwise, gag.
Miller pushes my right buttons. He gets me.
* This may or may not have giving me a tingle, or two. :) :)

A sexy super racy slicey dicey supernatural satanic tale that violates your visualization!
I'm still trying to white wall mine. Maybe need to dig out some Judy Blume or Beverly Clearly to reset.
He is such a ballsy blast to read though, I've been getting lost in his fun and filthy mind for quite awhile now, and he never runs out of full-bodied potent ammo to target shoot his load with.

I have a very high tolerance for extreme horror books and movies, the more graphic the better but Tim always seems to make me cringe with the queasies, I think it must be all the sexy allure followed by the chop chop hack and whack.
BUT, this has a little something for everyone; beautiful love, sultry lust, bondage, voyoerism, creative mutilations, orgies, butt stuff, circle jerks, fresh flesh dildos...gremlins...

Very brutal, very explicit, and very graphic. With lots and lots of kinky SEX.
Not for readers afflicted with delicate dispositions.

After a quick little taste teasing prologue, this starts out as a sweet love story. Bruce and Karen, adorable young married couple become new homeowners.
She's an accountant, boring job but it pays the bills. He's an aspiring painter, really good at it too but it does not pay the bills. They got the house cheap cause some stuff went down in it (deep down and that can be taken many ways), no matters to them, they ain't superstitious. Besides, they can always call in the Paranormal Stoners from Karen's guilty pleasure YouTube show, if things get a bit sketchy.
While exploring their new home, Bruce comes across a hidden door in a walk in closet, it's leads to an attic. Later, when he has alone time, he decides to go check it out.
Just a boring old attic but there is a chest in the corner, rifling through newspaper clippings and a diary, that's when he meets Melissa. He is positively entranced, she is beyond beautiful and so very intriguing.
After a brief 'hello', she whisks him away to her 'other side' bedroom lair for a little introductory peek and play.
He knows she's dead, but she looks, feels, and tastes so damn real...
He loves his Karen but Melissa ~ HOLY HELL....it's not cheating if the chic is deceased right???
No, Bruce, pretty sure that's something else entirely....

She's a real nightmare dressed as a wet dream, too bad he's wide awake and not exactly thinking with his northerly head.
Back in his own world, he can't get her out of his mind, even subconsciously paints her portrait.
He'll do anything to be with her again. Anything.
And here is where the torture, suffering, as well as extreme pleasure is introduced to our smitten Brucey dog.
Whisked away again, this time meeting the Clerics of Dolor main masochist Gorn. A vile, deceitful, and ruthless man who holds all the punches. It's his show and they all perform to their groveling, gruesome best, and worst.
They lay out the blood soaked red carpet to unwelcome him to the Halls of Dolor (Latin for pain), it's not Hell though, they cater to a different kind of sinner, it's more like....Hell adjacent, in no way affiliated or sanctioned by.
Bruce has to prove himself worthy by withstanding and executing the harshest of gratitutios, relentless, and self gratifying punishments, and pleasures.
Oh, where to begin...Gorn has a few ideas.
She's worth it. He does realize that he's been beguiled or penis possessed but he doesn't have time for rational thought, he's got too much work to get on with.

Can't count out his wife Karen though, she getting wise to what's going on and after calling in reinforcements, is also willing to do anything to keep her man from this whoring temptress.

"There is no death here. Only pain."

Balls to the wall original and inventive, all these trial and tribulations Tim thought up.
His mind scares and scars me. Yet, he is worth it. Must be, I keep coming back for more!!! Yea, I'm so deviant....nestled in all comfy cozy behind my brightly lit kindle screen. :P

And I love how he doesn't go for the predictable type endings. You literally have no idea in what kind of fucked up fashion Tim is gonna end his depraved stories. Sometimes it's a shocking ending, sometimes it's more poignant, often it's a delightful mix of the two and always ~always ~ it's an exhilarating bubbly blood bath.
Never an outright happy ending though, Miller characters don't get the happy.
His readers sure the hell do though!!

I really feel like he's got a great little mythology going on with these Clerics of Dolor, I can totally see them popping up in more Miller books, they are just too damn horrifically, sinfully fun to not play and slay around with.
He's already jazzed (..jizzed) it up with a lot of depth and backstory, I just didn't go into it all.
Yeeea, I was doing a very lousy job at summarizing that part of the story, so I'll just leave it to our main masochist to spread eagle lay it all out there.
But yes, a lot of story potential to tap into, they'll show up again, most definite.
So, get them basement bound scantily clad minions of yours on double time Mr. Miller!
It would please this devoted fangirl. ;)
