Eddy and Henrik don't believe in love. At least, that's what they keep telling themselves. They've been burned in the past, and neither wants to be that vulnerable again.
A summer fling...
That's all it was ever supposed to be. So why can't they stop thinking about one another? And for Eddy--who's moving back to America in a few weeks--the worst thing that could happen would be to fall in love with the one man who could make her question her decision.
Out of his comfort zone...
Henrik never counted on trusting love again. He's put all his energy into his career. So why does the thought of Eddy leaving Europe for good make him want to do everything in his power to make her want to stay...?
I grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and spent most of my summers in Smithfield, Virginia.
I first realized I wanted to be a writer while attending the George Washington Carver High School for Engineering & Science – yes, there was a time when I wanted to be an architect, at least I thought I did. Then, one day, I couldn't take the boredom of another chemistry class and decided to write a novel. It was passed around to all of my classmates, who loved it. I did this several times and realized I had zero talent in math, science, or architecture. I was much better at writing, so I focused on that when I went to university.
In 1995, I chucked living in the US for the good life in Sweden with my Swedish husband.
If you have not read the Maybe series by Kim Golden, you do not need to in order to enjoy this story (Although I do highly recommend it.) If you have read the Maybe series then you will notice one thing after reading Maybe Tomorrow: It’s hotter, sexier, and realer than Laney’s and Mads’s story. Eddie and Henrik are straight fire, and their story is a realistic account of two grown-ups rebounding from heartbreak and cautious of giving love another try. Yup, been there, done that…
So, Eddie is Laney’s cousin and BFF, while Henrik is Mads’s cousin and BFF (How cute!) We met them both briefly in Maybe Baby, and they were dealing with their own personal dramas. Now they have their own story, and it is sooo good. Eddie has finally kicked her sorry boyfriend to the curb and has decided to leave Copenhagen for good and move back home to New York and start fresh. Everything is set in motion, and she plans to spend her last weeks in Scandinavia, chilling before she begins the next chapter in her life. She didn’t plan on meeting this awesome guy who makes her question her every life decision…
Henrik is fresh off a breakup with his longtime girlfriend, and he has no intentions of getting into another relationship-until he sees Eddie, that is. Their initial meeting is so explosive and so 0_0. Had me asking “Did Kim Golden write this?” Yes, I was fire. And from there, it’s an emotional battle between these two. Eddie is leaving the country, but as much as they both try to deny it, she and Henrik have something special far beyond the physical. Denial is a mother…
I love reading about black women, living and thriving abroad. We don’t get much of that in contemporary romance, and that’s what I love most about the Maybe series. Well, that and these hot Scandinavian dudes…Click it up!
In Maybe Tomorrow the pursuit of love has led to betrayal and disappointment for both Eddy and Henrik. For them both, infidelity has tarnished the idea that true and lasting love can be found for everyone. Eddy and Henrik have given up on finding that for themselves. Love is always complicated and often messy, but when you take two people who have both been recently betrayed by the lovers that they had committed to, skepticism and doubt causes extra problems for any burgeoning relationship.
Eddy is overly cautious when it comes to Henrik's interest in her. She is willing to share her body and her time with Henrik before she moves to New York, but that is where she wants to draw the line. Eddy tries to convince herself that friendship and fun is all she is looking for or willing to give. I completely understood her need to guard her heart and not leap into another relationship so close to making a big life change. No one wants to feel like a fool over and over again. It is hard for Eddy to trust her own instincts when love hasn't exactly been good to her when she has taken chances before. Eddy is one of those characters who could get in her own way. There are moments when you just want her to stop messing around and let Henrik give her what she proclaims to want.
Henrik isn't your typical romance alpha and I appreciated Golden's departure from the aggressive and difficult leading male character. Henrik is calm and self possessed without all of the outward machismo that we often get, and albeit enjoy, in romance. Henrik is more placid and quietly sexy. He's a perfect case of still waters running deep and I for one thoroughly enjoyed that. Don't sleep on the quiet ones, they can surprise you with what they have in store for you!
In Maybe Tomorrow Golden gives readers a sexy modern romance that is relatable, realistic, and satisfying.
Another American woman swept off her feet by a hot Scandinavian man? Of course I’m reading it!
I loved watching Eddy and Laney’s friendship in Laney’s books, so I was thrilled that Golden gave Eddy her own book. Her story gets a hot start on Sankt Hans Aften, the longest day of the year. Eddy’s only in Copenhagen for a few weeks before she moves back to New York, so why not have a little summer fun with sexy Henrik? Their fling turns into friendship… and then more during her stay. Which means leaving isn’t as easy as she thought it would be. The rest of the book plays out across the Atlantic, neither Eddy nor Henrik sure how to move on from their summer. In fact, maybe they don’t want to move on.
I love that Kim Golden takes up some of the very real issues of meeting someone from another country. Falling in love is complicated, and when the relationship is international, it’s even more so. Often one person has to leave his or her country behind, so the stakes get high pretty quickly. Eddy isn’t just deciding whether or not she loves Henrik – she has to decide whether or not she wants to give up the place she calls home… or used to call home. Golden handles this issue realistically, which I appreciated, while still writing a fun, sexy page-turner. I also loved her little comments about the pros of dating Scandinavian men!
If you love the idea of falling for a hot Scandinavian man, you’ll love Maybe Tomorrow!
APB Perspective Review: I want to go to Sweden! Eddy and Henrik wow ! Their passion, friendship and love was wonderful to read . This authors tells stories about Sweden so vividly that you feel your visiting the placing she's writing about , and have met the people in her stories . I really enjoyed Eddy and Henrik's love story , but I felt like there should be more , or maybe I want more because I didn't want to leave them.
This was a remarkable story about two people who have had their fair share of being in relationships that left them feeling betrayed and disillusioned about ever being committed to anyone.
Henrik the handsome quiet guy was totally attracted to Edwina who was confident and outgoing. They were nervous and apprehensive about getting too caught up in their desire for each other but couldn't ignore the sparks and after a hot summer affair, decided to keep things neutral and stay friend. The couple still had a lot to figure out when the attraction was still so strong, all they could do was think about each other. What made it harder was that they lived on different sides of the world.
You could see the thought and focus that went into writing and making this a beautifully structured story. Which made for a smooth steady reading. The couple had an unmistakable connection and the chemistry was so intense it oozes of the pages. It was sexy, steamy and filled with angst. Overall a wonderful read that I would recommend. Great job Kim.
Every experience we have is based on the choices we make. They are encoded within our brain rewiring us. Sometimes for the better or sometimes for the worse. These experiences often dictate our future decision making. We find ourselves unsure of our heart and sometimes our mind. We think it's best to weigh the each choice based on logic placing our feelings to the side. This can often confuse others more so then not when in a romantic relationship of some kind. When it comes to the heart and mind it can take one sometime to catch up with the other.
Kim Golden has written a lovely story about Eddy and Henrik. They have met before briefly. But during a small get together at Henrik's summer home the seed is planted and from there a real friendship blossoms. They approach their relationship slowly and cautiously, overthinking and unsure how to voice their true feelings to one another. Sounds like real life right..
I really enjoyed this read. I appreciate romance authors writing books with couple relationships evolves over time. I hope to see another book from her soon.
Henrik and Eddy have had their fair share of disappointment in the opposite sex (in relationships)so they are really weary to finding and in their case accepting love. Henrik has always considered himself to be an accommodating individual that loved his work. Eddy seem to be really outgoing and bold. Every relationship that Eddy encountered left her in despair and reluctant to start fresh especially since her latest catastrophe of a relationship that left her discouraged with her ex. Eddy had resigned herself to being alone. Henrik and Eddy rekindled some old flames and created some new experiences during their time at Saint Hans Eve. Will they have the courage to truly explore their connection or just brush it aside as a fling? Is there really magic at the Saint Hans?
Edwina is a heroine many can relate to. Needing a break or giving up on relationships when the right one comes along but at the wrong time it seems. I love how the author shows the thought process of a person hurt and hesitant to move forward . I will be looking forward to Kim Golden's next book!
Eddy and Henrik on paper were a match made in heaven. Their on again off again romance was nice. I felt sorry for Henrik when it was obvious his feelings were strong for Eddy. Mimi, Laney and Mads were a refreshing reminder of their story a few books ago. The fear of romance with couples these days is a recurring theme. Wanting to have a sex related relationship and thinking feelings won't come into play is the other story line. This story covered both scenarios very well. A good read.
Such an good love story of complicated, grown person love. I enjoyed every bit of this book. The characters were relatable, I liked that it was set in NY and Denmark and that the main female character was a woman of color. She was complex and lovely and a joy to meet.
The novel shares the story of pressing love. Eddy didn't want another relationship and was ready to head home when she came across Henrik. Henrik, had been separated for a short while, but for some reason, his ex wouldn't stay out of his life. He needed something to focus on , just to pass the time, but a girl wasn't what he thought would help. Until he saw her!
The story, very mature story, tells how what you want can come when you least expect it and sometimes form the most unlikely of places. What I enjoyed most about this story is that Eddy was spontaneous- she knew what she was doing, even when she knew she shouldn't but enjoyed the ride. Henrik came off as a handsome Swede, one I'd love to meet. Just don't tell my husband!
The story was fun, a bit realistic and enjoyable. I wasn't too thrilled with the way Eddy seemed to need so much feedback on her choices, when she came off so independent but in a way, it made her like many of my friends. I wanted to tell her a thing or two and I've never been in any of her situations. I think that made for the adventure of it all.
Check out Maybe Tomorrow, and remember it is not a requirement to read the other books before this one, though if you're a romance fanatic and can stand some hot and steamy situations, this may be your next series.

Maybe Tomorrow by Kim Golden is a very enjoyable read. This novel follows the story of Eddy and Henrik. They have both been burned badly by love and decide that a midsummer hookup will be just that. But they end up spending a lot more time together and find that they their beliefs of love being all bad no longer applies to them and their relationship. Even though they both eventually come to this conclusion, they will fight it until the end. Kim Golden makes her characters believable and realistic. They are regular everyday, normal people who grow as the story progresses. I love the detail that she puts into the scenes, her characters and writing in general. I really enjoyed reading about Eddy and Henrik and being about to catch up on Laney and Mads was a plus. I received a copy of this book for my honest review and look forward to reading more books by this author.
I love the author style. Anytime you read her work you'll know it's not going to be average. Most book I read today lack a key ingredient and it romance. This book is filed to the brim with love and romance. I can see myself as the Eddy ( main character) and I wish there was a Henrik out there for me. Thank you Kim Golden for another fabulous book and I look forward to the next adventure.
I loved this book! I've waited forever to hear Eddie and Henrik's story and It was so worth it. You can't help but cheer for them. Watching them fall in love and realize is it is the thing, magic is made of. This book was so well written. A proper love story.
I picked up this book a year ago in an attempt to find a new author to read. I initially started this book the day I bought it and ended up putting it down because it was moving so slowly. I decided to give the book another chance and picked it up again last week. It was a struggle for me to read this book. With all the characters and the work the author put into fleshing out the relationships, I had hope for the book to pick up. Unfortunately, it didn't. The constant indecision between Eddy and Henrik did not help matters at all. In fact, their entire situation exhausted me. I continued reading the book struggling through it as I went hoping that there would be something that would jump out and help me to understand these characters. I read until the very end and I hate to say that it did not happen.
Eddy and Henrik...they had chemistry and the first 25% of this book really made me want to book a trip to Copenhagen to see if I could find my own Dane who's, not only good looking with a good job, but emotionally intelligent as well. However, the story started to drag with Eddy's indecisiveness. I think KM also forgot at times she had Eddy and Henrik declare their love for one another, but in the next chapter one will wonder when they'll declare their love. There were also some missed words within the text, and grammatical errors, but a lot less than in KM's previous books. I can say that I do appreciate and love how KM's writes her male leads. Sensitive, protective, sexy, non-toxic, and they still have a masculine vibe to them. It's refreshing when you need a break from the stalkers, "alpha" manwhores who have the emotional bandwidth of a toddler.
First of all, I love this series. I love Laney and Mads and their love story. That is when we first meet Eddy and Henrik. I loved both of these characters. Both had been burned in previous relationships and were gun shy. They didn't believe in love. Henrik fell hard for Eddy from the beginning, but believed that she was out of his league. Eddy had given up on relationships and was leaving Europe to head back to the US. It took a while, but these two finally decided to fight for each other and take a leap of faith.
This is a must read! Henrik and Eddy were so sweet. Not quite broken but a little bruised from bad past relationships, they find the love they never believed in. They both are hesitant in admitting they feel something and for a while decide to just enjoy it while it last. But love, once it’s unleashed will not take no for an answer and capture both Henrik and Eddy in its grasp.
I have milked Maybe Tomorrow to last for a while now and it ended on me a few minutes ago! As always Kim Golden has a very identifiable love story of two people literally from different worlds madly in love, denying it and bam! So much more is going on here of course! I look forward to the next story on Henrik and Eddy. Thank you Kim!
Eddy was incredibly irritating. Her indecisiveness was almost childish at times. Henrik was everything, though. The writing is rich and descriptive, which I loved.
I have read other books by this author before but this was a slow read for me. I read up to 47% but unfortunately the storyline just couldn't hold my interest to finish the story
I did not want this story to end. I love Kim Golden’s writing. It’s witty, sophisticated, and her characters are always dealing with unique and grown up issues in wonderful vibrant settings. In this situation two people who are clearly used to being screwed over by love find it impossible to commit to each other -- almost as impossible as they find it to stay away from each other. I like Henrik especially when he talked or thought about Eddy. Clearly smitten in the sweetest way from the word go his journey was the harder one for me to read because he was so certain in his uncertainties. Eddy was betwixt and between as well but it was easy to understand why. An expat who had made some understandable goal oriented decisions about crossing an ocean to go back home BEFORE falling for someone who has strong ties with the country she’s leaving. She’s just given in to moving back, how can she shift gears at this point? And what of her ties to her own homeland? Aren’t they just as important? Kim builds the tension beautifully between the couple as well as internally for each of them. However the best parts of the book for me were the sensual chemistry between the two and the budding love they had for each other. Those parts were written so well, at times I just wanted to shake them both when they dared tried to ignore the obvious. A wonderful read.
