I always like reading self-help books for Authors! There is always something I can get from the pages and "Making More Money" by Corder and Meeks is no different! Meeks did a few chapters on the mathematical data analysis of marketing books and finding choice keywords for promotional usage. Some of the analytical jargon went over my head. This book did do a good job of explaining what works and what doesn't work when promoting and advertising your book, as well as how to make sales and how to understand your key audience. The authors suggest Amazon, Facebook, KDP Select and BookBub as major sales contributors. I think this is a good tool and resource book for any author who wants to increase their sales for their book as well as gain more exposure for their work.

This book is essential reading for all authors and wannabes who are not earning the money they dreamed they would. The "Prosperous Writer's Guide to Making More Money" has nothing to do with doing better writing (well, study Corder and Meeks as you read this. They are both fine writers.) but describes what you need to do to make it profitable. I've been writing for a magazine for an hourly wage for decades (American Lutherie"), and as "The Prosperous Writer's Guide" points out I only get paid once, which is poor planning if writing is to be your career. This book will not knock your socks off with easy fixes, but it will teach you how to push your writing toward a wider audience in a methodic manner. Buy this book, you'll need to study it thoroughly as your career advances. Besides (believe it or not), its a fun read.
I’m reading the series backwards, but I’m a rebel like that! I love Brian’s writing style because he makes learning with a side of entertainment. Honoree balances Brian’s snarky writing with a warm and welcoming cheer. I’m moving onto the next book in the series.
NOTE: Their series is on Kindle Unlimited which like practically giving away stellar content. Jump on this before they come to their senses!
Great book. Lot's of excellent tips for authors! The best part for me was to be reminded that all readers are not created equal. Some read reviews, some count on descriptions, some want to know all about the author, etc. As authors we need to cater to all of them, not just our own way of choosing books.
As I pivoted my career to being an authorpreneur, I would have made my life a whole lot easier if I had read The Prosperous Writer’s Guide to Making Money much earlier than I have. I’m a numbers guy. This book is all about using numbers to get a better handle on our book business. There is a lot of practical strategies in this book about t advertising, book ranking, and Amazon key word use. The keyword chapter alone would have saved me so many hours of research and literally years of wasted effort by having ineffective keywords. There are lots of books out there about how to write books. There are precious few books about running a book business. This book helps bridge that gap. Read it!
Honoree Corder and Brian Meeks have written a book that every self-published author should want to read. In The Prosperous Writers Guide to Making More Money, Corder and Meeks carefully and gingerly lead you to the place you need to be to escape the “starving artist” stereotype that so many authors fall into.
To be truthful, I felt the book started off a little slow. After the first chapter, I was wondering if the book would actually deliver on its promise of telling me how to make more money. But like a performance of the 1812 Overture the book soon began to crescendo into a rousing, exciting read. The authors not only fulfilled their promise but exceeded my expectations.
If you are an author looking for the key to unlock the secret of making a living at the craft you love, you do yourself a disservice if you pass on this book. It is worth far more in potential future income than its meager investment implies.
Want Someone to take you by the hand and show you how to use data to improve your bottom line Get this book
Great book packed full of actionable steps. Honoree and Brian take you by the hand and explain how to use the numbers in a way that even the math illiterate can understand. If you want to improve your publishing business, and even if you only publish your own books you have a publishing business, with the least amount of confusion this is the book for you. I have read many of Honoree's nonfiction books and they just keep delivering the goods.
While Honoree Corder presents the positive mindset needed to make money, Brian Meeks presents the technical training on understanding ROI, CPC, CPM, and other measures an author should know. Somehow, I have to believe there's a broader picture to making money than staring at a spreadsheet 90% of the time, as Brian Meeks says he does.
Lots of practical tips and methods in this book. It's a definite re-read for me so I can pick strategies to implement and determine what areas currently need refining. I will likely read more in this series and my the authors.
