Kingsley....
I thought letting loose for a night would be a good thing. He was cute and lived close by, why not?
I didn't plan to fall for his boyfriend...
The boyfriend that I didn't know he had....
The boyfriend that caught us together, asleep on his couch....
The boyfriend that had cancer.
I also didn't expect to go back and explain myself the next day....
Or to run into him a few days later; seeing him sick and alone....
But I did...
I did all those things, and now the more time I spend with him,
the more time I want...
I just need him to stop pushing me away....
I need him to get better....
I need him to survive....
I just need him....

Kingsley's story is book #2 in this series of Kennedy Ink.
It contains strong language and adult situations.

(Don't worry. I'm a sucker for a happily ever after)

You know what romance is to me ? What I look for in my romance books? Kindness. Devotion, caring and loyalty but most of all kindness. That’s why my favorite characters are the more mature ones-not because of their age but because they’re kinder, they’re dependable and wise and supportive for having experienced more in life and they’re less prone to hysterics and childish tantrums . That’s why I adored John in “The rebuilding year”, Mallory from “Arrows through Archer” or Clay from “Honeymoon for one” ..They’re kind and sweet, calm and supportive, they’re a rock for their partners and one can always count on them.
I know one usually reads to evade real life and to immerse themselves in a fictional fairytale love story with cocky strong alpha males who sweep their lovers off their feet after a tense hate-love foreplay 🤣 I used to love those stories too in my younger and less cynical age lol but now I just want kindness and a realistic kind of romance . And that brings me back to this book. We don’t have older MCs here but we do have kindness . A lot of it. We have caring and devotion and we have goodness .
If you have triggers from reading about cancer healing process you might want to skip this review and this book all together.
Kingsley , our MC, meets a guy in a club and goes home with him for a quick hookup but little does he know that his hookup’s bf, Morgan, who catches them sleeping on the couch in his own house and who has cancer will be the love of his life.
I can’t lie, this book is sometimes sad but NOT depressing. It’s sweet and bittersweet at the same time but Kingsley caring for Morgan is the most kind and selfless and romantic gesture you’ll ever read in a book. And it’s insta love, I confess, something I really hate in books but here you don’t feel it, it reads a lot longer than 2 weeks . THIS is romance in my books. This is what love (real and realistic love ) is and I think this kind of knight in shining armor is what we should all look for in real life. Nothing in this book is OTT or fake and everything is how it’s supposed to be. The tenderness , the feelings, the love words are realistic and believable ..arghhh , my heart 😍. And don’t worry, there is a HEA.
This is a simple book, it doesn’t have a convoluted plot, or flowery emotional writing or a whirlwind romance but it will touch your heart and probably you’ll share a few tears.
Now let’s talk about the writing (although it’s not the writing, actually but the punctuation) .There are so many commas and so many periods and not to mention some of the wrongly used words like “he clothes the door” 🤣. I’m really really bad at punctuation myself but this author is waaay worse and that shouldn’t be allowed. I’ll still give this book 4 stars because the story is good and I absolutely loved it but if this author did a good edit to this book and cleaned it up a bit I think it could become a very successful book.

Reread June 2022

If I had read this for the first time right now, I'd ask for a refund. I hate to be critical, but the lack of editing grated on my nerves a lot more this time, which is a shame because the underlying story is so sweet and romantic—if you can get past the lack of editing. I'm definitely a fan of Woods's heroes, and I've read several of her books. My understanding is she is going through and reediting her books. I hope she will get to this series soon. As it is, I cannot recommend it unless that type of thing doesn't bother you. It obviously didn't me when I originally read it. I, however, will not change my rating because I still loved the story.

Originally read January 2017

I ain't gonna lie...when I started this book I had an "Awww F@ck" moment. Kingsley and Morgan didn't meet under the best of circumstances. It made me a bit upset...well, okay, a lot of upset. I just didn't see how this was going to work out but Ms. Wood pulled it off.

These two were fabulous together. Kingsley was absolutely the best hero and poor Morgan deserved a hero. He needed someone to love and cherish him...to just take care of him. Kingsley was that person. He was amazing.

"Last night cemented things for me, he was mine before, I wanted him, that didn’t change, but now he belonged to me. He was mine, now. He was mine and I was his, I’d gladly belong to him; to nobody but him for the rest of my life, no matter how long we had together."~Kingsley

I shed a few tears and I'm not ashamed to say so. But I also swooned...a lot.
“Things aren’t going to be easy.” “The things that are worth it, never are.” He says.~Morgan & Kingsley

“None of those things are important, as long as you wake up. If you don’t remember me, I’ll remind you every day. If you don’t remember you, I’ll tell you stories of the person I’ve gotten to know. I’ll tell you how amazing and sweet you are and that you have an incredible boyfriend, you got really lucky.” I smile, earning a smack on the arm making and me laugh. “And if you can’t paint, then I’ll buy you finger paints and you’ll re-learn. Start from scratch.” I kiss his nose. “I don’t care how you come as long as you come back to me.”~Kingsley

“This is it, then. You and me.” I bite his ear and he falls back on me again. “Yes.” He agrees. “Forever.” I declare. “Forever.” He promises.~Kingsley and Morgan

If you are looking for a swoon worthy hero and a guy who needs all the love and caring he can get, I recommend this book.

“You made me want to live.”~Morgan

Side note to the author: There were some typos along the way and once Kingsley referred to Morgan as Conner and once to him as Kingsley. It just needs some editing. It did NOT take away from the story for me.

Re-read September 2023

This is still my favorite Jenny Wood story. I didn't even care that it was like she just randomly threw commas across every page.

-----------------------------

I liked this! Despite the many many wrong words, spelling errors and switched up names. And what almost drove me bonkers were the constant switches between present and past tense. I also had a very good laugh when Kingsley declared he wanted to marry Kingsley. Oh, and he had a heard instead of a beard.

Kingsley is out at a gay club when he gets picked up by a beautiful man and is invited to go home with him. Despite the fact that Kingsley isn’t one for hookups, he is in fact lonely so he decides to follow the man, Stephen, home. After some making out and a hand job, the door opens and the man’s boyfriends comes in. The boyfriend who is obviously very sick.

Kingsley feels incredibly guilty for hooking up with Stephen while he had a boyfriend. He goes back to the house the next day to apologize to the sick man.

It turns out the man, Morgan, has a brain tumor and was at the hospital for treatment the night before. He was shocked to find Stephen with another man, and threw him out of the house.

After this Kingsley and Morgan run into each other at the grocery store and they both feel the instant connection again. The men become friends, despite the strange way they met.

It’s not long before Kingsley lets Morgan know he wants to be more than just friends. But Morgan doesn’t think it’s fair to Kingsley to start a relationship now since he is so sick…

This book gave me all the warm fuzzies. Jenny Wood sure knows how to write hurt/comfort, just how I like it. I just wished she would use a beta reader.

I definitely want to read the next book. I’m willing to overlook the bad grammar for some more hurt/comfort goodness.

This story got me right in the feels.

When Kingsley Kennedy decides to act out of character and go home with a one-night stand, he never expected his hook-up to have a boyfriend, or for that boyfriend to walk in on them together. To top off the awkwardness, said boyfriend is clearly also seriously ill, making a bad situation even more horrible. Needless to say, Kingsley hightails it out of there immediately. But after a night of guilt-ridden and worrisome sleep, Kingsley decides to go back the next day and apologise to the sick man for the unintentional part he played in last night's betrayal.

Morgan Blackwell is fighting cancer - a brain tumor to be exact - and the last thing he expected to deal with on top of everything else was to walk in on his boyfriend cheating on him with some gorgeously built, slightly intimidating, tattooed man. He has no trouble kicking his asshole boyfriend out of his house, but he never expected for the other man to show up the next day to apologise and befriend him. Kingsley takes Morgan by surprise and offers up support and friendship that he's clearly lacking in his life and most certainly needs at a time like this.

The two men build a tentative friendship, but quickly realise that feelings on both sides are deeper and more profound than either of them have felt before or could have ever expected to feel now. It's a difficult situation they find themselves in - starting a relationship in the midst of a fairly intense and possibly unconquerable health crisis - but neither Kingsley or Morgan can help how they feel, and with Kingsley (and his family's) love and unwavering support, Morgan is in the fight of his life to keep Kingsley for as long as he possibly can.

This story pulled at my heart-strings so good! I just adored Kingsley for the strong and loving man that he was. He didn't shy away from a difficult, potentially heartbreaking situation; instead, he dived in headfirst, embracing his feelings for Morgan and giving all of himself to the man during the good times and the bad. Morgan, too, was an extremely loveable character. My heart broke for all that he was going through, and I ached for him when he was overwhelmed with feelings of guilt at the idea of holding Kingsley back or breaking his heart if he didn't survive. The hurt/comfort here was just so damn good.

I must say, after reading eight of Ms Wood's M/M books and continually taking issue with many of the grammatical errors scattered throughout, I feel like this one was a noticeable improvement where the editing was concerned. That's not to say there weren't mistakes still - there were, with misspelled words, words missing, misused punctuation, etc. - but compared to the sheer volume of mistakes in previous reads, I feel this was a positive improvement overall!

This was hands down my favourite Jenny Wood read to date - yes, Susan, you were right - and I look forward to reading the rest of the stories in this series.

Wow does this book pack an emotional punch. I have read all of Jenny Wood's books and they get better and better. These books are perfection for me. There is some drama (but not too much, thank god) an awesome "family", and a true love story in each one.

Kingsley will definitely go down as one of my favorite heroes. This man is so strong, sweet and selfless. He's also funny, charming and hot as hell. I also loved the strength that Morgan showed throughout this story. Life had dealt him one shitty hand right after the other. But he was still kind and caring.

Of course it was great catching up with the rest of the crew and seeing how Conner and Kayson were doing. I can't wait for Jody's story next. I got a bit pissed with him in this story but I also understood where he was coming from. He loves his family deeply and didn't want to see Kingsley hurt. Can't really fault him for that.

Ok I admit it - I bought this for the cover.
Which is misleading, the main character Kingsley is described as big, muscled, inked though we never get to explore the ink! spiky haired, no wait hair too short to do anything, with oh and he had a 'heard' which I believe is a misspelt beard?

There are a LOT of misused words. A LOT of commas and some odd sentence structures not explained by the 'accent' of the story. Despite the claim at the start this is lazy writing because a simple read through would pick up a lot of the errors, I actually wondered about a degree of dyslexia. A shame because with an edit/editor the author has potential. I don't generally stress such things but the constant mid-sentence tension changes were frustrating and distracting, killed any chance of enjoying this with the need to re-read and interpret.

Dual pov is not a favourite device for me but backtracking povs are something of a bugbear. To me that's a writing exercise not story continuation.

Story wise Cancer is a trigger or me but the blurb for this was so original it drew my attention. So much potential and a great start. Doesn't follow through though. Everyone is great looking and lovely except the very ill Morgan who was hard to see beyond the ravages of sickness. Second in a series the brother and his love of the first book were mentioned at every chance.

Chemo and Radiology appeared interchangeable though there was some very hard reading there and I had to skim some talk of how ill he felt. Too vivid. Too real. Which made me wonder how he could bare sex.

The story is ok, nothing special, no special moments that stood out to me, I saw a sick guy getting some care but didn't feel the romance. The main problem lay in the lack of editing so will depend a lot on how much that bothers you. Hadn't realised I've tried another by this author and have got to conclude she's not for me. Should have stuck with my first thought and avoided, but if you like heavy hurt/comfort and lack my triggers then chances are you'll enjoy.

The story and plot idea was sweet and heartwarming. The storytelling and writing style was everything but.

If I would’ve rated it, it would’ve gotten 2 measly stars but I feel Morgan & Kingsley do not deserve it so I just leave it at that.

Re-read Oct. 2023. still a terrific Jenny Wood series.
Re-read April 19, 2020 I still love this series !

*** We are back in Madison, GA. for book two. ***
Kingsley is Kayson's brother, who along with their "family" of friends run the Kennedy Ink tattoo parlor. We met everyone in book one, and this time,
it's 6'5", muscled, tattooed Kingsley, 26,

who is lonely, looking for someone, who could turn into a boyfriend. He finds a nice guy who takes him home, and they fool around a bit, then fall asleep on the couch. Kingsley is totally pissed later when he finds out the guy has a boyfriend. Kingsley doesn't mess with people in relationships.
So, the next day he goes back to the house to apologize to the poor guy who came home and found them. He finds out Morgan threw the guy out,

and Morgan appears to be quite sick.
Morgan is honest with Kingsley and appreciates his apology. Artist, Morgan, 25, has brain cancer and is undergoing chemo treatments, before he has surgery. Kingsley really likes the guy, and offers to help. Morgan is all alone in the world and needs a friend, and Kingsley needs a friend, too.
We get bright, wonderful characters that we love, with deep, thought-filled conversations; fears and hopes revealed, all while the guys are getting to know each other. They are meeting Kingsley's family, sweet little sister, and Kingsley is a huge help. He and Morgan are on each other's mind constantly.

They became fast friends, and as the time passed, they became more involved. Through Morgan's good and bad days, they are more entwined, devoted, strong and becoming emotionally attached. We get a smooth flowing, well developed story, and super sexy scenes, that combine to give us a sweet, loving, slow romance.
You will need a few tissues handy.
I am loving this series full of amazing people. Our author, Jenny Wood, makes us love them, and we want to know more. This is "unputdownable ! "
I highly recommend this one.
ENJOY !

=============================
I do not blame the author for mistakes. It's on the editor. Example: "I wanted him to "clothes" the door and face me" Anyone who really read it, would catch it.

Thanks sweet Allison for the rec!

Ohh that was cute!
Kingsley is one of my best character ever. His kind of naturally kindness is so rare that i was like "ohh he did that..". Such a big heart. So much love to give.
Morgan, OMG, he broke my heart many times. Watch him struggle every day with his disease was hard, painful. He's so young (i do not think cancer is for old people) and has so many things to live yet...He's strong.
Their first encounter was just TERRIBLE. I was in so much anger against Morgan's boyfriend. But the next day King just make me smile so big.
I highly recommend this book.

This was a really sweet read. Kingsley and Morgan made for a cute couple. It was really short so things moved quite fast. Maybe a little too fast.

I definitely cried. How could you not with what Morgan is going through. He has quite the sad story. The boy broke my heart.

Stephen was a douche bag. To do what he does when Morgan needed him was disgusting. I was happy he didn't have much page time.

The author states at the beginning how the Southern language is not a typo or editing issues but just how he characters speak. I get that. But there was still some major editing issues. Names were confused and there were many other typos that had nothing to do with the Southern twang. So that took me out of the story a bit and had me going back to re-read a few things to make them make sense.

Still the story was short and sweet. I look forward to Jody's story.

Happy reading, dolls!

RE-READ: I liked it even better this time ;)

Original review:

Like with Kayson, the story would be a 4-star read, but the editing... :(
Hence the overall 3 stars!

Generally, I liked it for the same reasons I liked book 1 of Kennedy Ink, and I hated it also due to the same issues I pointed out in my review of Kayson

So, I'm not going to repeat myself... I just wanted to tell you that if I thought Kayson and Conner's story insta-lovey, then well... Kingsley and Morgan's is a SUPER EXPRESS INSTA-LOVE

Kingsley is a "baby brother" of Kayson. Yes! A "baby" brother as Kayse calls him (King IS younger after all), in spite of the fact that he's even bigger, hunkier and more... hairy ;) He simply looks more or less like that:

Morgan? Well, Morgan made me cry sooo much! :(
I'm a total sucker for hurt/comfort reads and tormented, sad souls... And Morgan is sick, so gravely sick with his brain tumor, and so f**king lonely after he kicks out his shithead of a boyfriend and stays with his illness and his struggle on his own... I must tell you, my heart and soul were aching for him, I haven't felt so invested in a book character's story for a very long time...

Anyway, I've experienced a fight against cancer in my family and I know what it feels like. And I don't mind in the least that this story was totally OTT in terms of the supernova speed and intensity of King and Morgan's relationship (hell, it all happened during one week basically!). When you're faced with such shuttering news, I guess your life suddenly seems too short and you embrace all the warmth/help/comfort you can grab.

The book made me teary-eyed and heartachy. It's emotional and intense right from the start. But it's also fluffy and heart-warming in the best ways. A perfect mix of the hurt/comfort trope.

!!! SPOILER ALERT !!!

To sum up, I can't help but share with you, guys, some more mushy pieces (TBH,I was marking them like crazy!!) Forgive me for getting carried away! Maybe they are a bit overly emotional - it's NOT the best hurt/comfort book I've read - but they made me cry, and smile, and sigh deeply, and close my eyes and simply... FEEL...

I'm sorry, my friends, for over-flooding you with all of those fragments but they pulled the strings of my heart and sometimes it's just SOOO GOOD to feel like that ;)

Recommended to emotional hurt/comfort fans!

Re-read

Reading this book the second time around, now that I've read the first book already (which I haven't done when first reading this book), doesn't change my rating, it's 2.75 - 3⭐, but reading it again now I know exactly why I can't rate it higher, although it had a lot of potential.

I must've been high while writing my original review to think this was a slow burn, because it's quite the opposite and this is exactly where the MMCs lost me. I probably thought that because there's almost no smut here and the one that's present didn't work for me.

First of all, let me just clear that cover for you, this is Kingsley from the book, not that guy on the cover.

The story deals with a heavy topic of Morgan having cancer and going through chemo on his own. I saw a lot of potential here for bringing more depth to the story, I don't think the answer was to do a completely OTT insta-love with Kingsley, who was saying he already loved and wanted to marry Morgan after two weeks of knowing each other.

If cancer didn't scare Morgan enough, Kingsley for sure made that happen. I mean, where's the rush? Those guys are in their 20's, they've just met, they're hanging out, Morgan has cancer and is going through some really terrible side effects of chemo, so that immediate love didn't sit right with me.
They also had sex when Morgan was physically practically falling apart, so the smut part definitely wasn't enjoyable to me.

It would've been so much better if this truly was a slow burn. If more time had passed between them meeting each other and Morgan having that surgery. Him having at least some recovery. And then going for a relationship.

I honestly loved their friendship and how they met, I was with Morgan every step of the way and feeling so glad he had Kingsley by his side, but I just strongly feel that insta-love wasn't the right choice here.
This story had potential for so much more and the grammatical errors did in fact bother me here. It's a heavy story, a heavy topic and you can't really internalize it with millions of errors along the way.

I specifically disliked Jody and his approach to Morgan. Morgan had cancer and Jody was just cruel, you don't say that to someone who's your brother's chosen one, in fact I can't imagine anyone saying it, so I have no idea why Jody is portrayed as such an asshole.

Could've been a lot better.

Original review from 13th May 2023

I really liked this story. 3⭐
A shorter emotional novella about one lonely boy with cancer getting his happy ever after.

True, it does have grammatical errors, clearly the author didn't have an editor, but the story itself is readable.

What can you expect?

🔵 Cheating, but not between MMCs
🟢 The cheated MC and his boyfriend's hook-up end up together
🟣 Size difference
🔴 Not that spicy, does have 1 sex scene
❗ Cancer
🟡 Found family

The story is about a sweet, short guy named Morgan, who's an artist and being out of the foster system, he has no one except his boyfriend, who's regularly cheating on him.

Morgan has cancer and when he's leaving his round of chemo one night, he catches him and in the process meets Kingsley, a really tall and heavily inked tattoos artist, who becomes his friend.

Kingsley is there for Morgan through his pain and discomfort he's going through by having cancer and going through chemo, he takes care of Morgan and they fall in love.

With a sweet slow-burn the feelings were real and I believe the presence of a serious illness cleared their intentions and feelings for each other sooner than it would've normally had.
They didn't want to waste any time, they were just being gentle with each other.

The proposal was romantic and emotional and I'm really looking forward to their wedding.
I hope they meet the ex-boyfriend again. 😃

I liked all the side characters, but I would appreciate more time reading about Morgan connecting with Kingsley's family, they seemed pretty close by the end of the book and the bonding was left out.

A sweet story, I hope the others get steamier.

It can have the 2.75 for an interesting premise, but the execution was average.
Well, as I said in my review for book one Kayson, it was the blurb for this that actually drew me in. Despite the continuing abundance of commas this was better, though not enough for me to finish the series - the final book does not catch my interest and this entry sadly left me niggled. Yup, niggled. There were the unabashed apostrophes of course but we gained new editorial joys such as "clothes the door" and "took that imagine with me"; humourous yet distracting. I would have preferred more focus on the progression of feelings - indeed, a longer, more conflicted journey to love would have been nice, minus the sex. (Beware, the end is nigh! I wish for less sex!) I didn't entirely believe that Morgan would feel sexual while undergoing radiotherapy, or rather that if he did have feelings of desire that he would physically be able to act upon them. Perhaps it's different for men, but I would have thought erection sustainability would be even more of an issue. I would've been quite content with cuddles and intense emotions. Also, on a lesser note, my understanding is that US healthcare is expensive; yet absolutely no mention of cost was even hinted at, nor insurance, and Morgan being an artist is classed as self-employed I assume so. . .
Obviously I don't mind my romance being feelgood and a tad unrealistic, but the feel of this was that it's meant to be a bit more than smut, so I'm judging it that way. Better than book one, a good idea disappointingly portrayed and no further reading likely. (But never say never, 'cos you don't know what random bit of imagery will hang in the brain like a piece of food in your teeth, waiting for you to pick it out with a reread!)

I enjoyed this more than the first book .
It was a sweet story , almost insta-love , which I don't always mind ( Hello shifter book consumption ) .

As I was prepared for there to be some grammatical errors , it didn't pull me out of the story to the same extent , as the first one . I know how to clothes a door now .

I liked it enough to continue the series , and see what else this author comes up with !

Originally I just downloaded the sample. Then, 10 chapters later I was hooked. So I bought the book because I just had to know how this love story went down.

This was incredibly sweet, and sad, and hopeful. Kingsley is a one of a kind gentleman, who falls quickly and loves fiercely. I liked him. And I liked Morgan too. He'd been dealt a pretty shitty hand and was just trying to get through the days when he catches his boyfriend in a compromising position with a tattooed hottie and his whole life gets upended again. It's pretty much Insta-love but it's the kind I can get behind. Because when your days may be numbered all bets are off.

But the editing is terrible. After 50% there were glaring errors every few pages. Spelling, grammar, missing words, wrong words, continuity issues. Way too many to just ignore unfortunately.

This was book 2 in the "Kennedy Ink" series. I really liked this book and I wanted to give it 5 stars but this book had some issues with editing and formatting which was annoying at times. Kingsley Kennedy goes to a club looking for some company he goes home with a guy Stephen they fool around and fall a sleep only to be woke up by his live in boy friend who is so sick he throws up on the floor. Who does that cheat on a sick mate. Kingsley felt so guilty that he goes to see Morgan who has brain cancer. I felt bad for Morgan he was battling cancer on his own even before he caught Stephen cheating. As someone who battled cancer I felt like I was reliving it all over again. I loved that King was willing to help Morgan when he realized that he didn't have anyone. I liked that Jody was looking out for King although I didn't think it was his place to talk to Morgan about it he should have talked to Kingsley about it. I also liked how the Kennedy's also stepped in to help not only Kingsley but also Morgan. I just wished that this book was proofread and edited better. I am looking forward to reading about Jody and the nurse.

RE-READ

Yes, I know - I’ve said this in Book One, but it bears repeating.
This is why: - Book 1 - review

“I’m not okay, I’m so far from okay; but I’m selfish because I want him. I want to kiss him until I can’t breathe. I want to feel him hold me, tight; together. I want to remember his smell and his voice and his kiss. I want to feel him move inside me, claiming my body like he did my heart"

Now, Kingsley and Morgan. Ugh, chef’s kiss. This story is like someone wrapped up romance, a sprinkle of heartbreak, and a whole lotta sweetness into one cute little package. The chemistry - Real. The emotional tug - Also real. It’s the kind of love story that sneaks up on you and then whacks you in the heart (in the gentlest way, promise).

The writing is easy to slide into, like your favorite hoodie. And sure, the story’s on the shorter side, but don’t let that fool you. There’s still plenty of time to fall headfirst into Kingsley and Morgan’s connection. It’s not wall-to-wall steam (so if you’re here for the spicy stuff… maybe lower your expectations a smidge), but what it does have. Honest-to-goodness sweetness, warmth, and vibes that just work.

Kingsley and Morgan as a couple - Adored them. Morgan’s vulnerability made me wanna wrap them in a blanket, and Kingsley is basically the human version of a supportive forehead kiss. Yes, things move quickly (because, again - short book), but it still gave me the emotional payoff I was craving. Their back-and-forth? Lowkey delightful.

So, if you’re into cute love stories with heart, depth, and characters you wanna squish in a loving way - this one’s for you. Quick read, big feels. What more do you want?

I AM IN LOVE WITH KINGSLEY KENNEDY!

Okay, I've got that right out of the way. Is he not, the sweetest most amazing man in the world.
The fictional world, that is.
Please, please tell me that Jody is next. I need Jody to be next!
I didn't think you'd be able to top Kayson, but Kingsley is perfect!

I'd give you more than 5 if I could!

I have postponed writing this review for a week now because I really had no idea, how to write about this book. Here is what you get: Kingsley, a tattoo artist hooks up with a one night stand in a bar.
After their sex session they fall asleep and wake up to the return of said one night stands partner Morgan. To make things even worse Morgan is fighting cancer and just returned from his therapy. Finding his boyfriend in his own home cheating, literally makes him puke!
Guilt-ridden Kennedy returns the next day to apologize and what starts as a walk of shame slowly turns into a friendship and more.
This sounds incredibly sweet and honestly, it is. Even if the story gets a little too much from time to time, it still had me hooked immediately from the beginning.
This plot written by someone else would probably have gone to my all time favorite shelf.
However, unfortunately, it seems that Mrs. Wood could not afford an editor and the writing and (non-existent) editing make it really hard to focus on the great story.
My English isn`t excellent by any means and I know my punctuation sucks. Reading this story however, I get the feeling that even as a non-native speaker, I could have managed to put fewer mistakes in this book than the author did.
Sometimes she manages to change from present to past tense and back 3 times in one sentence.
Like: "He walked to the cupboard, he takes out the plate and returns to the table, then he sat down again". Sometimes I had to read sentences twice to understand what`s going on.
Even more ridiculous is, that in her foreword she tries to explain, that all this is on purpose, because the MC speak an accent.
Well Mrs. Wood, I am from Germany and I certainly know about accents, but what we get in this book is poor grammar and not an accent!
Please go and find an editor. This story is so wonderful, I loved both main characters. I cried and laughed with them, it really deserves 5 stars and only rating it 3 makes me sad and angry!
I am really curious about the other installments of the series, but reading in the reviews that this is the one with the "improved" editing I can not bring myself to check them out!
For the moment I give this 3 stars and a recommendation for all those who don`t care about the editing issues...

2.5 stars actually since I had a few problems with this one.
from the beginning you can see the edit is off and there are some mistakes. this is very unusual and makes it looks like an amateurs job.
It is a shame because the writing was great and it was an easy read.
Secondly and a big issue for me, was that the book was very short and I have felt that someone was on the run here.
what's the hurry? why the insta-love? why not wait a while and get to know one another outside of the sickness so the romance will be a believable one?
I can see why Kingsley, being the good guy that he is, took care of the very fragile Morgan but it was very hard for me to accept the falling in love so fast into this very difficult, unromantic situation.
one of the fastest love story I came across and without a really good reason.

The feels. The feels. I don't know what to do with all the feels I'm having. This book, this damn, fucking beautiful book. Morgan and King are amazing, and wonderful, and sweet, and romantic. I can go on and on and on. I laughed. I sighed. I got freaking furious with Jody. And for the first time in all my years of reading books, I cried no, openly wept during love scenes. I just couldn't help it. The sweet words, the obvious love and respect, the fear...everything just hit all my feels so hard.
This book has earned its place on my favorites shelf and I plan on revisiting this story many times.

Kingsley is the ultimate, book boyfriend.
Coming from a man who currently doesn't have a boyfriend, I'm going to obsess over yours, okay, doll?

I adore everything that you write, I love all the heartbreak and misery that gets turned around, by one great guy. I love that most of your stories are such low angst and I don't have twists and turns to do my head in. I love that once your guys find the men they're supposed to be with, they don't so much as look at anyone else. I love how possessive they are and fiercely they love.

I can honestly say that I have never read a book with this storyline. It's a first for me and I loved it.
I wanted to punch Jody in the face a time or two, but I can see him redeeming himself in his own book. I really hope he's next.
Your writing improves with each book, even though I don't let it deter me, because I love the stories and I don't nit pick. Still, you're getting better.

I can't wait to see what's next for this family. I love them all!

My two stars are for the subject of the story, stopped reading at 42%.
The author placed commas at really weird places. The story itself was okay, my heart ached for Morgan the way Kingsleys heart ached for him. But the way the book is written lacked, in my opinion. The past tense present tense was mixed up. Some parts were just boring because it was told and not written as dialogue. And some parts i thought were childishly written.
I hate to write stuff like this, but I just want to be honest about how I experienced the book. I was really looking forward to reading this.

This would get a higher rating had there not been so many errors in the writing. I enjoyed the story and managed to finish it in a day, but the typos were still very distracting. There was constant misuse of punctuation, especially commas. A lot of spelling errors and incorrect grammar. Probably the most annoying to me (besides the commas because oh my god I just wanted to erase 80% of those commas) was the frequent changing of tenses. Good story! But needed A LOT of editing.
