Sophie’s Universe is a continuous square blanket with lots of surface detail. The pattern was released as a 20-part CAL (crochet-along) in 2015, sponsored by Scheepjes and hosted in the Official CCC Social Group. Although advanced, the pattern is written specifically for adventurous beginners. Step-by-step photos and hints are included.
I'm on the last part 18 and the last round 113 of Sophie's Universe Crochet-Along, I loved this book. Such a fun pattern, written in a very clear way with photos that explain it all. It comes with YouTube videos in case you still get stuck. I would love to be able to write such intricate stitches in this way. I wonder if TAFE does a course in crochet design?
I just finished crocheting my Sophie’s Universe today following the detailed directions and relying on the great guidance and diagrams in this book. Although I started this project as a self-taught beginner level crocheter, I was able to learn so many new stitches and techniques, significantly improve my skills and grow my confidence, and complete this complicated and gorgeous project.
So very hard to follow along. The format is not like a normal crochet pattern. I end up having to rewrite the pattern on each page for each row before I can continue because there is so much added information to make it confusing. And I have had 50 years of crocheting experience. Instead of pictures describing stitches, drawings would be easier to see black and white.
very clear instructions , and with the bonus of a online video if you get stuck beautiful pattern which i have done to the sophie garden size four times now and aim to do full pattern this year
