to my knowledge, the book had errors in boracay hotel pricing at 2 hotels, but it was published 2 years prior and probably written at least a year before publication, making the info 3 years old (?). also, i can't say i did a comprehensive survey of hotel prices on the island. i found the book to be informative and well written, especially in terms of historical and political background. it touches on quite a variety of issues informing filipino culture today. in general i find rough guides better than most travel books, to be rivaled, perhaps, only by lonely planet.

the details of destinations leave out any personal detail that would have been gathered by actually visiting the area. it is merely a book of listings.

This was one of the worst travel guides I've ever read. It's full of awkward statements and unsavory viewpoints of great destinations and peoples.

Just with this guide it would have been difficult but together with another one and the internet it was alright. Some nice recommendations in here.
