The Wild Kratts take off to investigate how different animals survive in the cold in this leveled reader!
PBS’s successful animated show Wild Kratts joins the adventures of zoologists Chris and Martin Kratt as they travel to animal habitats around the globe. Along the way, they encounter incredible creatures while combining science education with fun. Boys and girls 4 to 6 will love learning to read as the Kratts investigate the different ways in which certain creatures live and survive in cold climates in this Step 2 Step into Reading leveled reader. Bonus stickers add to the fun! Step 2 Readers use basic vocabulary and short sentences to tell simple stories. For children who recognize familiar words and can sound out new words with help.
My son absolutely loves the Wild Kratts. While love the more realistic nature readers, these are perfect little readers that introduce the simplicity of so many creatures in an enjoyable way for young ones.
This one gets a solid meh. It’s a decent easy reader for fans of the show Wild Kratts. Brothers Chris and Martin explore the various creature powers of animals that live in arctic climates. My concerns are that it is classified as a step 2, when really it should be higher due to length and the word choice. And the word stickers on the front is an immediate turn-off for a library. But for the price and considering the popularity of the show, I would still consider making the purchase. Optional purchase.
Pretty good - I liked the motif of the "Three Fs" for staying warm in the winter....but then not every animal they talked about used them. (Voles stay warm underground and some hibernate.)
My kids are big fans of the Kratts, so they loved this book (as a read aloud). The kratts meet some fascinating winter creatures and highlight some of their important creature powers. Engaging and fun read for early readers who like animals.
In this Step into Reading science reader, we learned that fur, feathers and fat are the key three aspects that keep cold weather animals alive. Another favorite Kratts read for my first grader!
There's a good variety of animals in this one. Was a little surprised there's no mention of habitats disappearing since that appears in most Kratt books.
