This is a rhyming picture book about mistaken identity. It is also the sequel to "Mabel and the Sock Pirates" by Elwyn Tate (we recommend you read that one first). It was a fine and sunny morning on Mabels magical farm. The chickens clucked cheerfully, the cows moo and munched, and the bees buzzed busily by. BUT!!!...Then something strange started to happen. Someone or something kept moving Mabel's sheep around. Who could it be and why were they doing it?
A great book with rhyming. A cute little story. It kept even my big kids busy as I read to my youngest. I'm def going to read more of the author's books to my kids.
This rhyming tale could easily be a four- or five-star book if it were not for numerous spelling and grammar errors. They could easily be fixed in this Kindle edition.
Mabel the Cat wakes up and walks around her farm, as is her custom. At first, everything seems normal until she comes across her sheep and notices that they are all up in the trees. How did they get up there?
Mabel uses her detective skills and follows huge paw prints until she comes across a dragon. Why would he want to put her sheep up near the sky? Is there a way to convince him to return her sheep to the farm?
This book would make a delightful read aloud or bedtime story for preschoolers or kindergarten children. The rhymes work well, and the illustrations are attractive. Unfortunately, the spelling and grammatical errors detract from its value.
This is a wonderfully original and beautifully clever book
I haven't felt compelled to write a book review in years, but this is more than warranted. It is a beautifully written, funny, excellently illustrated book. I read it as a kindle freebie and a party interested in potentially learning to write kids books. I will buy three copies in hardcover, I love it so, and will gift it to two nieces, saving one for myself!
I don't generally write reviews for kids' books but this book was so cute I just have to. I read the book to my 2 year old son tonight & he just loved it. He pointed out the farm animals & enjoyed the sheep in the trees. A case of mistaken identity & fun rhymes make this an excellent book. It's a fun sequel to Mabel & the Sock Pirates. We will be buying more books from this author.
This book was just as quirky and fun as the first book. The story is funny and very entertaining. My daughter loved this book as much as the first one. She liked that the dragon thought sheep were clouds and that Mabel the cat had to explain it to him. Mabel is an amazing character and she is completely protective and she is very inspiring for little kids.
I love this little book! It's a charming, funny story, and Ms Tate never fails to expand the vocabulary of her young readers. But in this book, the word THEN is used when it should unquestionably be THAN, and there is another error in a sign held up by a sheep. Please repair!
A touch of imagination, just amazing! Love the flow of rhymes.
Would definitely recommend this book to parents with little ones learning to read. We also ppreciated the art in this book. Left us wanting to read more from this author.
My 3 yr old loves it and the illustrations are adorable. I highly recommend this story. He is in search of clouds every time we go outside and is eager to catch a glimpse of the cloud dragon one day
Lovely rhymes and lovely stories! More Mabel please :). Eleven more words, are required they say, so a rhyme I believe I must make. Though I have naught to say, I cannot go away, til my post Amazon deigns to take.
The book was loveable because it was adventurous and unpredictable. We knew the problem would be solved. This is a great book for budding readers and writers. We love the chunks and rhymes.
Another beautifully illustrated Mabel book. I really love this little and all her adventures. She’s so cute and I’m sure children of all ages would find these books funny and engaging.
