A curvy cheetah shifter with a traumatic past + a billionaire lion shifter on a mission + a corporation with a dangerous agenda = one thrilling romance!
Curvy Shoshanna Ross has had plenty of excitement in her life. Six months ago, she escaped captivity from a nefarious lab. Since then she's started a business as a private investigator, determined to build up the skills and experience to defend herself if she's ever in serious danger again. She's focused exclusively on her job--there's no time for dating with a life like hers.
CEO lion shifter Max Rowland has a guilty secret. He knows Shoshanna is his mate--but he hasn't told her, because he believes himself to be responsible for her capture. He's committed to hunting down anyone who's performing unethical research on shapeshifters, and that means he can't let Shoshanna anywhere near him. He won't expose his mate to danger, even if it means they can never be together.
But when Max is the target of a violent attack, only Shoshanna can help him heal. What happens when Max's protective instinct is pitted against his mate's need to stand together against a threat? And can Shoshanna face her fear of the past and come out triumphant?
Lion's Mate is a sizzling hot, standalone BBW lion shifter romance. No cliffhangers!
Zoe Chant loves writing paranormal romance. Over a cup of tea (or something stronger) she whips up sexy tales of hunky heroes and adventurous heroines to tantalize and satisfy her readers. Sizzling hot romance, no cliffhangers!
While series should ideally be read in order, all of Zoe’s books are standalones and can be read in any order. This includes books within series.
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!
The cover is another awesome one! I bought this one on Feb 1st.
This is the 2nd book in the Rowland Lions series. It is for adults only due to the steamy content. It is not mandatory to read the books in order, but I think you will enjoy this book a lot more if you know the whole back story from book 1 because you will know the characters much better.
As with every book I’ve read of Zoe’s thus far, this is a HEA for Max and Shoshanna. I love Shoshanna’s strength for all she has had to endure. She has an awesome heart and courage. Max is something else with his keep everyone at arm’s length. I’m glad Shoshanna sets him straight. This was another book I was happy to read and enjoyed the whole way!
I highly recommend any of Zoe’s book to shifter lovers because you will always find something to enjoy and the perfect mix of action and romance to keep you going!
This was a great addition to the series... Hopefully there r more books added to the series as there is more siblings to read about... This book was well written.. like all of Zoe Chant books are... This is book 2 of the series but that being said if for some reason you happen to skip book one you will not be lost in the series... But please take the time to read book one you will not be disappointed...
This book is about Max, Seth's brother from book one... And Shoshanna that we were introduced to also I book one.. this book had it all from character development to love and romance... I could not put it down... 18 and over...
Max is a very stuffy CEO but he decided that he wouldn't put anyone in jeopardy again and he will take all the burdens on himself. But his mate unexpectedly found him badly hurt and drugged. They r 2 much alike. But when push comes to shove they will protect each other and will make damn sure that they will do things a lot different than what he's used 2 but he'll just have 2 deal with it. Hopefully soon his sis and brothers will start 2 change the way they were brought up and start communicating better about feelings, etc. I hope his sis will get 2get her with kevin. Mmmm. I hope more books r coming with this soon.
This is the second book in the Rowland Lions series. It can be read as a standalone story, but I recommend you read Lion's Hunt first. This is Max and Shoshanna's story which we first meet briefly in Lion's Hunt. We meet Max at a meeting which does not go well. He has been tranquilizer and his car goes off the road into a river. Shoshanna finds him on her doorstep. This starts the hunt for the people who are looking to cage shifters. I loved it and give it 5 stars.
Max rescued his brother Seth and finds his mate Shoshanna in a lab running tests on shifters. They meet again when he discovers another company running the same type of the lab. However, when they try to kill Max his friend and security man, Tom, dies in a car accident caused by employees of the lab. Max makes it to Shoshanna's house where she discovers him badly in red and gets him inside to heal. This book is amazing and a great read.
Another great series of Rowland Lions which book 2 Lion’s mate. This book also contains shifter secrets and espionage which interlocks with Book 1. But the story and characters leaves me wondering if this series should be read before Protective Inc due to the similarities of plot and storyline. I’m also curious and left like there’s something missing! Ah yes I feel like that the series requires more stories as the ending feels not quite right
Lion’s Mate (Rowland Lions Book 2) by Zoe Chant. Max Rowland is investigating a company that is possibly conducting experiments on shifters. He’s drugged and his car is tampered with and he crashes into a river. He manages to get out and transforming into his lion gets to his mates house. They find out were they are going to do the experimenting and manage to shut them down.
I read Seth's story also and this story is the second in the series. It's an easy read. Each story can be read in a day. Max and Shoshona are no nonsense but secretive and have to learn to trust. But they manage to overcome their issues and take the bad guys down in the process.
TITLE OF BOOK: LION’S MATE AUTHOR OF BOOK: ZOE CHANT DATE READ: FEBRUARY 4, 2017 – FEBRUARY 5, 2017
WILL STUBBORN LION SHIFTER, MAX ROWLAND AND STUBBORN CHEETAH SHIFTER, SHOSHANNA ROSS BE ABLE TO MAKE A LIFE TOGETHER WORK?
Zoe Chant doesn’t play around with her writing. She knows what her readers want and she gives it to them. That is a sign of good Author. I have been reading her books for a while now and I must say that she has yet to disappoint me. Her books are thoughtful, well planned, organized, and have any and every emotion needed to make the book a success. Her story line grabs you at the beginning and holds your attention until the very end. The characters come to life inside the story line and you can’t help but find yourself imagining that you are one of those characters and your knight in shining armor has come to take you away from all that is bad in your life. “Lion’s Mate” delivers everything a well thought out and well written romance novel should and more. Trust me when I say that you will not be disappointed.
In this second book of the Rowland Lions series we find Max Rowland, lion shifter and CEO of Rowland Global Solutions, Inc., going to meet with the head of a company he suspects of testing on shifters as did certain people in his own company. This left a big scar on Max because his brother was captured and tortured because he had asked him to check out the Rocky Mountain facility instead of doing it himself. All of this had happened under his own nose, and was done by people he trusted. Now he is dedicating his life to finding and putting an end to anyone doing tests on shifters. But his biggest guilt is the secret he is keeping. He knows who his mate is and he is not letting her or anyone know. He thinks he is protecting her by not letting her know. But he does keep tabs on her and he knows where she lives. He keeps his distance because he is bound and determined not to expose her to anymore danger.
Shoshanna Ross is a cheetah shifter who has had more excitement in her life than she cared to admit. She had been captured by some bad people who worked for Rowland Global Securities, Inc., and had experiments done on her that caused her severe trauma. Trauma she really wants to forget, that was six months ago. Now she has her own home and her own business as a Private Investigator which she works with her friend Kevin, a panther shifter who had also be held captive with her. She has put her sole focus on her work and that left no time for dating. But her friend and partner Kevin is constantly trying to get her take time for herself, but she never listens to him. Shoshanna returns home after doing a job in Miami and finds a huge lion on her front porch. Her first thought was that it was Seth, but once she got closer she knew it wasn’t Seth, because this lion was her mate. Once she gets him to shift back to human and he tells her his name is Max, she takes him inside cause with all the blood on him she was sure he was injured and whoever had done it was probably after him. Shoshanna’s need to help him heal is strong as the mate bond. Now she and Max are at odds because he wants to protect her, and she wants to help him fight the threat that is after him and all shifters. Can they come to an agreement or will their stubbornness come between them? Can Shoshanna face her fears of the past?
No Spoilers. Advanced Reader Copy read voluntarily and with plenty of smiles and laughter.
The suspense was great! I hope the series continues with stories about Kevin and Mac's last two siblings. I love a good love story with an interesting plot.
But I did expect more depth. Especially with the heroine. Looked forward to her story after reading book 1. I know the author is capable of it. Just feels flat.
These days Max is operating on guilt and rage nearly as much as his training for the job he holds as CEO of a global empire. It was through his indifference to danger that his brother, Seth had walked right into an ambush situation that could have cost him his life. It was his trust of an old family friend that has started that man’s spiral into embezzlement and setting up a undercover laboratory to capture and test on Shifters for… nefarious reasons. It was his fear for his mate, who he’d discovered as a captive in that lab, that kept him from her side to protect her from future harm and perhaps himself from her disgust at his inability to keep her safe. But, rage and guilt were good working partners – they had taken him to this meeting today where he’d begin the take down of another company intent on experimenting on and harming Shifters. It’s too bad that Max thinks himself infallible, unable to see the flaws in his grand plans… and someone should have warned him to never, ever drink something that he hadn’t poured for himself.
In the six months since her release from captivity, Shoshanna has rebuilt her life. With the more than generous settlement from the parent company of the illegal, unknown experimental lab she’d bought herself a home out in the country where she could shift and roam freely. And had educated herself as a Private Investigator and set up a company co-owned with her best friend, Kevin, also is a shifter who’d been held in that lab. You might be tempted to think that life is good for Shoshanna now, but you’d be mistaken. She’s plagued by nightmares of her past and believing she’ll be alone for the rest of her life, without a mate, for she cannot seem to trust anyone now.
The last thing she expected to see on her front steps after returning from a business trip to Miami was a lion, badly injured and… her mate. The questions ran through her mind fast and furiously but for now she had to keep her mate alive. But eventually this man had a lot of explaining to do.
I completely enjoyed Lion’s Mate. Shoshanna and Max are so good together, they are so much alike that it’s almost scary. She brings out another side to Max, the stiff, formal CEO falls away and he’s simply Max. That was a delight to see. Watching him learn how to share his life and his power as they fought together to take down yet another lab was really perfect for this couple. Shoshanna is not soft, she’s just as comfortable with a tranquilizer gun as she is making an omelet – she can fit in both worlds, and she’s never, ever going to let her mate put her in bubble wrap.. no, it’s side by side facing life together or it’s nothing.
Although you don’t “have” to have read Lion’s Hunt, the first story in this series, it gives a lot of the background about Max and Shoshanna – plus it’s an excellent story in itself. If you have the choice and the time, I’d suggest reading them in order to get the most entertainment value from the series. Either way, Lion’s Mate is an intriguing, intense story with a solid plot, so steamy and hot moments, and a love story that will capture your heart. I’d highly recommend both stories to any Shifter Romance reader.
I read this story through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Title: Lion's Mate Series: Rowland Lions Book 2 Release Date: #AlreadyReleased Author: Zoe Chant Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Genre: #PRN #LionShifter #CheetahShifter #5Stars☆☆☆☆☆ ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Yes she has another blockbuster, this lady knows how to write, she get you sucked in, making it impossible to put down the book. Again this book has Adventure, Survival, Fear, Action Packed, Loyalty, Hate, Lust, Love, Strong Heroine and a Hero. Shoshanna Ross is a Cheetah Shifter plus an investigator with Kevin Lane her partner, they opened a Private Investigator Agency. After coming home from a big case in Florida she saw something on the front porch, there was a Lion it was bloody and passed out. Getting him to shift and get in the house, she started cleaning all the blood and dirt off this sexy hunk who is her MATE. Max Roland is a Lion Shifter, plus CEO of Roland Global Solutions. After finding out that his trusted employee was embezzling money from his company and he was hurting shifters in a lab. He decided he was going to search out other places see if there's other labs that are experimenting on shifters, held captive and thrown in cages. He found another lab Elite Enterprise. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
After learning his company had a hand in it, Max Rowland is determined to close down the laboratory that his company was unknowingly running, but never expected to meet his mate. After being released from the labs, Shoshanna Ross opens up a PI buisness with her bestfriend. Upon returning from a job, Shoshanna finds an injured lion shifter on her front steps whom she instantly recognizes as her mate, but not who he is overall. Together the work toward busting other shifter labs. Will Max be able to overcome his guilt and let Shoshanna get close? Will Shoshanna be able to overcome her past mistreatment to trust and rely on Max?
Another Zoe Chant hit! Loved Max and Shoshanna's characters and how they were able to bring out other sides of each other. Max was able to relax and show his emotions. Shoshanna was able to trust someone again. These two were both similar, but able to bring out more goodness and work together perfectly. Great book and cannot wait for more!

Max and Shoshanna met at a very inoppertune time, she was unconscious after breaking out of an R&D research company that Max had unwittingly been paying the costs for and Max was so guilt ridden he felt as if he didn't deserve her. This story tells of how they meet again while trying to take down another pharmaceutical company trying to recreate the tranquilizer drugs that will put humanity a leg up on controlling shifters, as a way to make billions if dollars along the way. Max has stayed away from Shoshanna trying to keep her safe, but when the Pharmaceutical company ups their game by trying to kill Max, all bets are off and he ends up in her doorstep, more dead than alive !! Excellent paranormal romance, with plenty of story, hot sex, intrigue and justice finally being served. Love this series !! 4.5⭐'s. I received a gifted copy and am voluntarily choosing to leave an honest and unbiased review.
This is the 2nd book in the series and while it can definitely be read as a stand alone (it was easy to follow) I think I would have liked to have read the book that begins the series first, just to give the back story of Shoshanna's capture more depth. This book sucked me in and I found it hard to put it down, loved Max and Shoshanna and thought she was an extremely brave character who didn't succumb to too much over the top drama!!! She thought things through before acting, it was great to read. Definitely the type of partner that suited Max. Felt a little rushed at the end but overall it was a great read and can't wait for the next instalment! I received an ARC with no obligation to leave an honest review.
This is book 2 of the Rowland Lions series & is another good one from Ms. Chant. In this book we get to follow Max & Shoshanna on their mission to stop the 'bad guys' & they find personal growth & love at the same time. The characters are interesting & engaging & the story moves along nicely. All in all a fun way to pass an afternoon.
Zoe Chant is one of my go to authors and I was very happy to read this book. It is part of the Rowland Lions series but is very easy to follow as a standalone. As usual, it is full of adventure, passion, love and rescue all tied into fated mates who try to deny a compulsion that is beyond resistance. Max is a wonderful hero, so sensitive as well as strong, and Shoshonna is a spunky survivor determined to move on in spite of her terrible past. Together, they sizzle.
ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book! I know that Max was trying to protect Shoshana. However, by not telling Shoshana that He was her mate was mean. I agree w/ Shoshana, She should have the right to chose. I was glad that Max was able to redeem himself. Great ending!
