The Cleveland Street Affair is a little know factual story in late 19th century Britain. It revolves around tales about Jack the Ripper and men of prominence, not wanting to be seen with female prostitutes we driven underground to homosexual encounters at a local mens club.
It is sort of a dry read, until the courts come into session and the boys start telling their tales in their best 19th century cockney and I could not stop laughing until the end of the book. The story is true and people are factual, it is not a comedy.
