A pop up/lift the flap book based on the natural world? I'm all in! It manages to cover almost anything a child (or adult) might want to discover about plants, trees and the environment. Many of the most interesting plants in the world are named and illustrated. This includes my favorites such as the giant amazon water lily and monkey faced orchid. A variety of the world's coolest and smelliest plants are listed. There is also a section on which plants end up on your plate and all the ways we use plants. This title is done in a creative and fun way. I can see a child enjoying this book for hours +. It is definitely a guide that invites return viewing/reading. My new favorite science/nature children's book!

I usually don't like lift-a-flap books, but this one is beautiful. It provides a lot of information using interesting text features and an organized, but creative format. This book is best used as a mentor text for non-fiction writers.

Good resource and full of info but very wordy and a bit daunting for many children. Also, flaps, pop-ups and wheels etc are not sturdy enough. Poor publishing finish

Each two-spread asks a question, gives a paragraph introduction, and then has numerous smaller illustrations with interested facts and tidbits. No two pages are set up the same. There are pop-ups, lift the flaps, tabs that turn, tabs you can pull, and little books within the book. It is the most tactilely enjoyable book, I’ve ever read.
Some of the information included is: why do plants have flowers? There are 400,000 different types of plants on earth. How do plants grow from tiny seeds? Including the oldest seed. What do plants feed on? Including the flypaper traps bugs on the leaves. How do plants defend themselves? Like prickly holly leaves. Where do plants live: from the tundra to deciduous forests. Why trees are so important? And which tree is the oldest and which one is the largest. What are the worlds weirdest plants? The monkey faced orchid looks like a baboon’s face. What plants end up on your plate: flowers, stems, roots, leaves, fruits, and seeds. How do we use plants: clothes, books, furniture, and medicines.
The information presented in the book is as interesting as the book’s unique format. This hands-on book will be definitely find little (and big) hands that will want to read it.

This book is all about how plants and trees affect the environment, provide for humans, and provide for living things as well! This book is great for young learners when it comes to hands-on, interactive, and engaging reading. There are tons of pop ups, pull downs, slides, etc. to keep the readers intrigued and ready to learn even more about the environment around them. Some topics in the book include how plants grow, the many uses for trees, how insects and birds use plants to live, and so much more!

This book is a great interactive way for students to learn about the science of how plants and trees truly work. The story will be beneficial for students to introduce a science lesson to pump them up for learning about the natural world. The illustrations and interactive pop ups will allow students to stay invested, while receiving important knowledge about the world around them. They can then go apply what they learned from this book to the outside world, and understand why nature is so important.

Proof that we’re never too old for a good pop-up book. This fantastic non-fiction unfurls the mysteries of the natural world, as part of a series. Each page is ripe (pun intended) with facts: plant parts, life cycle, and other fun features. A great addition to your professional collection!

This book is a terrific resource! Packed with information, the lift-flaps, turn dials, & pull-tabs all offer engagement for younger readers, which helps with information retainment. This was a great book for our plant unit of natural science (kindergarten)!

Did you know there are seeds that can weigh 40 pounds or more? Or why plants have flowers? Or that there are carnivorous plants? This informative, well-constructed lift-the-flap book is crammed with information about plants in general and unusual plants in particular. Starting with general info about what a plant is, the book goes on to reveal more than readers might expect from a lift-the-flap book, including how plants grow, feed, and defend themselves, where they live, why they are important, weirdest plants, plants we eat, and other ways we use plants. Adding to the appeal are numerous tidbits of interest about plants that are poisonous, bizarre, smelly and deadly. Geared to an older audience than many lift-the-flap books, this one would be appropriate for third to sixth grade readers, especially those with an interest in the natural world.

While not filled with the greatest amount of scientific information, the fun design has meant that my year 5 class choose this book before all others in our science lessons when asked to research extra information. A great starting point for learning about plants and pollination.
