RISKY ALLIANCE

When her private investigator father is murdered, Bailey Cox stares down danger to find those responsible…and comes face-to-face with the cop who arrested her six years ago. But to uncover the secret that got her father killed, her former enemy must become her current ally. Franklin Kennedy's not convinced he can trust the ex-thief, but he needs her computer-hacking skills to crack this case. What the hard-nosed detective doesn't need is a soft spot for Bailey. But when their investigation leads them to international hired guns, Franklin realizes his mistake: he's put Bailey in their crosshairs…and time's running out to save her.

Argh, took me four days to read this shorty. There was simply nothing that caught my attention, but this year I’m letting no excuses stand between me and my owned tbr, so I powered on a few chapters at a time.

I really, really don’t like the charming criminal trope.

I couldn’t believe any of the setup of how she wormed her way into this investigation.

On to the next.

I will have to look at MS Tailer's other stories - see if she's to become one I watch for regularly.

LOTS of repetition in this one - something I find annoying with LIS in general. VERY few LIS authors manage to tell a story that keeps me moving forward without a LOT of unnecessary reminders as to WHY the hero/heroine are acting as they are. It is NOT just this author.

Was intersting to see that one of the main characters was a criminal who falls in love with the guy who arrested her. That she was still living in sin. Really different spin. Different from other plots of Love Inspired book and made the book seem more humane to show we still sin and can free ourselves of sin.

I was already a fan of Kathleen Tailer’s books. I had read several other, earlier & later books and loved the underlying mysteries & relationships of those. I particularly was drawn in by the relationship between the leads in Quest for Justice. Between the tension & teases in the relationship, this book’s storyline kept me hanging throughout!

I cannot tell you just how much I love this book. I actually read it a couple years ago, so this review is from my re-read of it. Criminal female falls for the guy who arrested her? Turns out, I want more books with that plot, lol. Maybe I'll write one? That'd be fun. Oh no, I'm rambling. Anyways, I love this book and will probably re-read it again someday.

Good Read

Bailey and Franklin had history, he arrested her once. Now he is putting the cuffs on her again. This time she is innocent. Someone has killed her father and she will not rest until she finds out who. This story has car chase, attempted murder, kidnapping and love.

It's a good quick read.
I would genre it in Mystery/Crime. Not Romance.
