Part of the new Ladybird Expert series, Evolution is a clear, simple and entertaining introduction to Charles Darwin's pioneering and revolutionary theory of how all life changes through natural selection.

Written by broadcaster, prize-winning author and geneticist Professor Steve Jones, it explores the extraordinary diversity of life on our planet through the complex interactions of one very simple theory.

You'll discover the common origins of dogs and Brussels sprouts, how it is we're all mutants, where wings, ears and tails came from, why sex is good for you, how some dinosaurs evolved and survived, and why human evolution may finally have stopped.

Simple enough for a layman to read, but still incredibly interesting!

Nice, clear look at evolution from Ladybird's excellent series for adults - keeps the clarity of prose, the entertaining illustrations, that made their children's non-fiction books such a great part of childhood for a curious, bookish kid. This will go on the shelf alongside my collection of 1970s Ladybirds now.

There was good and bad here, I would like to have rated higher but the first 2 pages where basic explanations were given were just dumbed down to much, the rest of the book was really good and went into a good amount of detail for the adult introduction.

I feel like if the first couple of pages had been given an extra 1 or 2 pages which they easily could have as the book was only small then it would have been the perfect introductory book!

great introduction to evolution. I learned a lot from this slim tome and am considering reading something more weighty by him, as his writing style makes it all so understandable.
