Presley heads off to Sheboygan, Wisconsin, staying at one of her boutique client’s rental properties. She's gotten a new manager at Silk, and even though Katy's gone, Presley is able to take a little time off. She goes out to walk on the beach along Lake Michigan and what she thinks might be a big piece of driftwood is actually a dead body! Can't she get some proper time off? She starts interacting with the locals and gets invited to a wedding. The bride discovers another dead body. What's going on in this town? Will Presley be in danger.

I missed seeing Presley's interactions with the familiar characters like Katy and Cooper, but it was fun to see Presley off on her own finding more trouble. I found myself wondering if the author is a Jane Austen fan, as the name of the militia compound was Wickham Place. I liked the slice-of-small-town life we get in this installment of the Presley Thurman Mystery series.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

If memory serves me right I wasn't 100 percent behind the previous book, Accesories And Alibis, in this series. Likewise with Weddings and Weapons. Sending Presley out on her own to solve the latest whodunnit was a poor choice in my opinion. Yes, Presley is the main character in Turner's series however as the addage says, "no man is an island" - or in this case "woman". The characters - ALL the characters - tell a story best.

The sleuthing and investigating aspects of the story did not score big accolades as well. The story came off half hearted to me. If given more attention the book could haved secured a stronger star rating as their was a good plot. Unfortunately the story, characters, dialogue and setting weren't able to connect as one.

Weddings and Weapons felt as though the author transplanted her super sleuth and expected Presley alone could keep the reader turning the pages. That approach failed to work for me. For me, it takes all aspects of a story to render a win for the author. I don't believe Weddings And Weapons delivered Turner a five star win.

can Presley go anywhere without finding a dead body, or somehow otherwise getting caught up in a murder/mystery?

completely accurate that she seems to be a magnet for that kind of trouble.

a brief stay at a lake house belonging to a client finds Presley walking on the beach and stumbling over a body.

naturally she gets tangled further into the related mess by seeing mysterious things going on at the beach during the night and mentioning it to one or more of the wrong people.

some messed up family trees and allegiances - or lack thereof - might just be lethal for some of the locals.

if Presley wants to live to be nosy again, she is going to need the right friends in the right places - especially with Cooper MIA again.

a mixed up and not so restful vacation murder mystery - and awesome KU read!

I got an advance copy from Booksprout -I also own the book and read it on KU.

Presley goes for a vacation get away that turns into a murder mystery for her. She arrives at the beautiful home that one of her clients from her store Silk has given her a weeks free stay at and decides to take a walk on the beach where she promptly runs into a dead body floating in the water. She finds herself in the middle of mystery and intrigue when a reporter asks her questions for an article about the body and later she meets a young couple staying in another vacation home a house or two down the beach from her. It doesn't take long for Presley to find herself in danger from someone , but will it be the person she expects it to be? This book has the usual editing errors that we have come to expect from this author which keep me from giving her a 5 star rating but over all the story line is good.

Our heroine can't catch a break. Dead bodies literally wash up at her feet. Oh, well. Back to work!

This is book twelve in the series, but it functions perfectly well as a standalone. While it includes characters from previous books, you can easily pick up on the essential relationships needed to enjoy this story.

This is a cozy mystery featuring a somewhat ditsy PI, our heroine, who nonetheless seems to get the job done. By now, she has figured out how to make her unorthodox approach work for her. We are treated to a fun story with lots of twists and turns and a healthy dose of humor. I found the plot easy to follow and very engaging as I tried to figure out what crazy thing our heroine was going to do next. Overall, it made for a very enjoyable read.

Highly recommended.

Presley goes on a much needed vacation and manages to get mixed up in murder again, this time involving drugs, militias and a wedding. Laina Turner has unique and clever stories with with fun characters, humor, and plot twists and turns you don't expect As much as I liked the book, I couldn't give it more stars because the editing/proofreading was so bad. And sometimes the dialog is so hard to follow (who is saying what).

Presley is finally getting a vacation! Beautiful sunsets, walks on the beach, what more could you ask for? Of course with Presley a simple vacation can't happen. When she stumbles upon a dead body on the beach she tries to forget about it and enjoy her vacation. When she's at a neighbor's party and another body makes her wonder about the town she's visiting. Will she solve the mystery before another body turns up?

Only Presley could take a trip to Sheboygan and stumble across a dead body when walking along the beach. Can’t this poor girl catch a break?! She tries to forget about it and enjoy her time away from home, but at a neighbor’s party, another dead body is discovered. What is going on in Sheboygan?

This is another great cozy mystery in the Presley Thurman mystery collection with the right mix of mystery, suspense, humor, and clever dialogue.

So much for a vacation! Presley finds a dead guy floating in the water at the beach near the house she’s staying. He was shot in the temple, so definitely murder. Again, another murder she’s going to get herself wrapped up in. Well, actually two murders since another happened at her neighbors rental and seems connected. With a reporter named Sheldon, she’s gets herself deep into the mess in the small town.
I enjoy this series and can’t wait to read the next book.

Small towns along Lake Michigan are beautiful, friendly, and have murder victims? Presley heads north from Chicago to get a break from her small business with nobody to make demands on her for a whole week. But she didn't count on finding a body on the beach her first night there or getting roped in by the local reporter to investigate in a town she's never been to before. Lots of twists and red herrings, no gore or erotica, just an interesting mystery guaranteed to be a good read!

Presley can’t even take a vacation without finding a body. While taking a well deserved rest, she walks into a mystery that leads her to the most danger she has ever faced. Weddings and Weapons has the twists I have come to expect in a Laina Turner novel. I recommend this and the entire Presley Thurman Mystery Series.

I so love this series. Pressley Thurman is a joy to read about. Her interpersonal relationships seems to carry her through on her adventures. I'm not sure of I can say which book in the series is my favorite since I love all of them.

A little disappointing

My first book from this author was number 11 in the series, and I thought I would like book 12 but I just couldn’t get into it, there’s nothing technically wrong with the plot, the mystery was OK, but I just didn’t have any connection with any of the characters, and even the heroine didn’t do it for me this time

Presley is off in a little holiday by herself in Wisconsin in a vacation home of a friend to get out of Chicago for a relaxing getaway. Of course she finds a body on her walk along the beach. She can't help getting involved in the investigation into the murder. This time she is by herself without the help of her friends. She discovers secret tunnels and criminals.

Weddings & Weapons

Presley goes on vacation at a beach house and finds a body in surf the first night. The next day she meets a couple on the beach staying in a house two doors down that could be considered a mansion. They invite her to a party the next night to celebrate their upcoming marriage.

Good book!

This was the first Presley Thurman mystery I've read, and I look forward to reading many more. This book was fun to read, had a good plot and a surprising twist at the end. I highly recommend it to other mystery readers.

Presley takes a well deserved week off work for a holiday.
Even in a strange town she manages to find a body on day one!
That leads her to the militia....what makes you think it has a good outcome?

My second in this series.
Presley is quite the busybody and takes a lot of risks, but that’s what she likes to do.
I enjoyed it and was surprised as to who the first killer was.
I’m looking forward to the next book.

Well, that was once again a great book!

I loved it from start to finish!

A much-needed vacation for Presley, but of course on her first night, she finds a dead body.

Quote: “Curiosity always got the best of my common sense.” And yes, there are times when Presley does something that might be a bad idea according to common sense, lol.

And boy was I wrong about whodunit! Excellent mystery!
