From hugely popular photographer Andy Seliverstoff of St. Petersburg, Russia, comes this utterly charming collection of just what the title says -- little kids and the big dogs they love.
Through the prism of Seliverstoff's magic lens, impossibly big dogs (Great Danes, Saint Bernards, Leonbergers, Newfoundlands, Irish Wolfhounds, to name a few) and some rare ones (like Komondorok and Bracchi Italiani) telegraph the special relationships they have with the children in their lives.

Little Kids and Their Big Dogs remains to be one of the sweetest and most precious ensemble of photographs I’ve had the pleasure to browse. It’s also the perfect combination to make me end up in happy tears: little kids and their big dogs.
This is a must-read for anyone who has ever loved a dog. It’s such a deeply touching collection filled with so much heart and charm. Plus, it's educating as well--I learned about so many new dog breeds I’d never encountered before.
However, what lowered a bit of my adoration was that each series of images in this book was accompanied by an fictionalized short story about the dogs and children featured in it. The additions of those stories weren't exactly what I'd signed up for, and so it made the magic of the photographs disappear a bit for me. In the end, I decided to skip the short tales in order to fully enjoy the beauty encompassed in this photography collection.
On that note, here are some of the precious kids with their dogs that had me desperately fighting back my tears multiple times throughout:
Overall, I'd highly recommend you give this incredibly sweet collection capturing the special bond between little kids and their big dogs a go. (I found myself fighting tears more than once.) And I'll always cherish photography collections that encompass the meaning of "a picture is worth a thousand words." And this was it... This was so it.

And dogs are really humans best friends. I have yet to met a more noble, loyal and great friend - and being - than my dog.
That said, I have to say that the pics and texts of this book really touched me :)
I was expecting to find "simply" a recollection fof pics with kids and their dogs, but this book is so much more: the book is sort of divided in series of shoots of different kids with their dogs, and every section has a an introduction which puts us into situation, telling us something about the kid and the dog/s we are about to meed, which is very cool because we feel more connected to them.
And the pics are really amazing and full of life, and we find a bit of everything: pics full of joy, movement, intimate moments, and a big etcetera.
Obviously, by the tittle of the book you know it is going to be a book about big gods (mastiff, afghan, leonberger, dane, etc), but I also would love to see a book from this author featuring smallish dogs, too! :)

I can’t rate this book anything less than 5 stars because it’s such a happy book :)
Like the title says, it’s a book full of photos of little children and their dogs. There are also very short stories about the kids and their relationship with the dogs. The photos are beautiful, the dogs are very fluffy and the connection between kids and dogs is obvious.
I went ‘awww’ on every single photo, and I think the version that I got isn’t even complete, so there are even more pictures in the finished version. If you want something happy and cute in your life, you should check out this book. Or get a dog :)

I wasn't crazy about the short stories. Maybe the book is meant to be shared with the young. The pictures, however, are breathtaking and beautiful. To see a small child playing with a large dog like a Great Dane or a Bracchi Italiani is to see into the heart of these dogs. The pictures are full of color and action. I enjoyed my trip into the world of this book.

A seemingly charming book that attempts to show off two opposite groups in the grasp of friendship and loving devotion. Although I am not quite sure otherwise what the book attempted to achieve or who the audience was specifically for it was decent enough for a one-time read.
What threw me a bit on the book itself was the fact that first of all the formatting didn't truly stay true to itself. The beginning of the book had an Introduction and unless it was the format of my sister's cell phone screen there was nothing there to read. Then later on you would find some of the collections had a little story to explain what the collection was about while others just had a name and the pictures with no story whatsoever for the reader.
Otherwise the book did a wonderful job in its illustrations as they were photographs showing the children and large dog breeds in various activities whether it was attempting to dance, running, playing or just being friends. The pictures thus were heartwarming for the reader in their own way while allowing people to see that just since a dog is big doesn't mean that it is quite a dangerous breed to deal with.
All in all a cute book that one can quickly skim through. May attract dog-lovers more and those who enjoy children but otherwise just as easy to pass over this particular book if you are looking for more inspiring dog stories.

if you ever had a dog
If you ever had a dog you understand why they are humans best friend.
Our first dog was Pete, an 80 pound mongrel who could leap over our 6 foot
Fence with ease. So we just kept the gate open. In high school he would go over 3 miles and meet us when school was over. He knew what class we were in and would be there when we got out. He either had a great sense of smell of my brother and I or we just plain smelled. I've had dogs my whole life and have their little boxes of ashes on my mantel.

So I'm reading a galley and only half the book is complete. Must of the stories are missing, but the pictures will send you on an awwhhhhhh fest. The dogs and the kids are so cute it could kill you. To pick a fav pic is hard, but the commodore pictures and the kid who looks like he is dressed for the Wizarding World are probably my favs.

I must confess I wasn't really interested in the stories I just wanted to look at the cute pictures with the really big dogs and their little people. It touches your heart to see how unconditional dogs can love their humans and how unafraid children can be with what they love as well. The pictures say it all.

Little Kids and Their Big Dogs is an absolutely charming photo collection that animal lovers and families will greatly enjoy. Each of the breathtaking action shots showcase the sheer joy that comes when children and dogs play together. These beautiful gentle giants are playmates, loving companions and protectors. It is easy to see the love they have for their young friends. The text that accompanies each set of pictures is wonderful. The children and dogs speak sweetly and gently with each other. There is love and respect. The dogs are noble, as well as generous of heart.
Seliverstoff’s photos are amazing. The photos eloquently capture the magnificence of these large exotic breeds as they joyfully run, leap and frolic with small children. I especially loved the wiry furred wolfhound and the puli with the long gorgeous dreadlocks.
Little Kids and Their Big Dogs is one of the most charming photo books I have come across. It would make a great gift for families with small children or animal lovers.

Seriously. We could have just taken the shots, everybody go home and the book would have been great. Some schmo out in the middle of a rural heck-hole could have published it with misspellings and we would still be charmed. Enchanted.
Fortunately, none of that happened.
To add to the enchantment, each series of shots are prefaced with some back-and-forth banter. Sometimes, photographer and author Seliverstoff is involved. Sometimes, he is not. It adds to the magic of what you are about to see, nonetheless.
We know. We were tipped in favor of the book as a dog-person. We know. But, there's more to it than that. It's not all fun and romps over a snowy ground. So much more!
Loving.
Energetic.
Touching.
Beautiful.
Kind.
