Russian Bratva #5
Tempting the Badman
At five years old, Inessa Kozlova is exposed to the dangerous power a badman wields. Now, twenty years later, she’s convinced that a badman is the last thing she wants in her bed. Strong, beautiful, and independent, she’s determined to live the life she wants on her own terms. Yet, from the moment she lays eyes on her Bratva lover, her heart demands otherwise.
Dominik Markov owes his life to the Bratva. Having grown up in prison, he associates his ties to the mafia with liberty. Embracing his freedom, he takes all that life has to offer—including all the women he can get. Known as the Bratva playboy, settling down is not his idea of happiness, and love is a mystery he wishes not to solve.
It doesn’t take long for Inessa to learn that the power of love is more dangerous than that of any man, and she’s no match against her feelings for Dominik. Yet, it’s Dominik who is brought to his knees—tempted by the only woman who has ever made him want more. Discovering that the cost of more is surrender, he must decide what kind of badman he really is—and if the woman who tempts his heart is worth it.

I do not know what to say. Let's just leave it at the fact that my reviews for the book 1 and 2 pretty much sum up my problems with this whole series. Because in all honesty, there is not a lot of difference between the 11 books in this series.
This one is pretty much the worst one. It's nothing more than a breading fantasy. Beyond disgusting.

I'm into bratva mafia right now so I went back to this series by Hayley Faiman. I had read Book 11 in this series, Bought By The Badman, that I quite enjoyed. I was rereading sections from it the other day and was surprised by how sexy and angst-y it was, so I thought to continue the series.
I was debating 3 stars but decided on 2 stars. The writing is the same and the smut is great. However, I was let down by the plot, so that's ultimately why 2. It didn't work for me. That being said, I plan to read the other works still.
Some GR reviews are very annoyed by what happens. I was intrigued by the nonsensical breeding scheme, and was hoping it'd be more over-the-top. However, the spineless heroine with the womanizer who does not communicate does not work for me here.
I was actually on board for the first 10-15% of the book. I liked the potential angst to be extracted from Inessa and Dominik's f-buddy arrangement. They are not exclusive, and Inessa knows not to press more than that from him. They're both catching feelings. It's more obvious to Inessa while Dominik isn't sure if he can be faithful to her, but it's almost like she's the better option than the woman he's been contracted to marry.
I actually liked Dominik in the beginning because he was someone who wasn't sure if Inessa was the one and if he was capable of love. For his character, that was a honest reflection. It wasn't insta-love. But the more that I read, the less engaged I become.
There are miscommunications that don't pay off. Inessa believes he is cheating around on her when he isn't. He isn't communicating to her, so it makes her sad.
What does Inessa do? She symbolizes the patient pick-me. If she just suffers enough, the man will reward her with some basic decency in their relationship like letting her know what's happening or simply spending time with her.
I was hoping Inessa would grow, but the book was not interested in Inessa. Inessa's pain of knowing she's just one girl, knowing it's wrong but also not having enough self-respect to stop or demand more. That's painful but it's something that many women experience. It's extremely relatable to feel not enough but still accepting scraps.
But Inessa shouldn't have stayed there. It deeply depressed me that she had no sense of agency and it was really up to Dominik when he decided to listen to her.
There were no good reasons for Dominik to not tell her the truth when it came to it looking like he was cheating or not telling her what's happening. Even he knows it too. Like, what are we even doing here? Either she should have pushed back on him harder or he should have double-downed and become more of an asshole, but something needed to build. She never once tried to escape or go crazy. Usually, in these books the heroine will try to do something.
It just felt like he wasn't changing and she was putting up with it. Nothing really happened to get him to change his ways or for her to grow into her independence. They say she is so independent... not really. Where was it?
If the author wanted us to feel for the heroine who feels caged and trapped, the author failed. She needed to have a better handle on either the psychology of the characters or on the plot, because it fell flat and as GR reviews shows, will irritate readers.
I don't mind timid heroines who are scared of the heroes, but I didn't feel that. I don't know why she was listening to him. She wasn't scared of him. She just couldn't stand up to him, even though why not?
It will irritate readers who only want safe, obviously, but this book will also irritate readers who don't care as much about safety as they do about story.
Circling back to the only other book I have read in this series, the heroine was also shy but that worked in the other book because she was a fancy call girl who had an abusive father. I could feel her reluctance to speak up about her needs. I could feel her broken shell, and the hero demanding more from her, demanding her as his equal, was lovely.
Here, the characters felt quite juvenile. Fine. But at least have a good story. It's just: He's not good at communication, doesn't know if he loves her or can stay monogamous for her, but will breed her to get out of a marriage contract because he doesn't like his fiance. She's very sad she can't do her realtor job.

I want more!!! I NEED MORE!!! Ermagawd! Dominik is EPIC!
Ok so don't panic. There is a bit of confusion in the beginning of the book. Around twelve percent you're like "aha"! So that's why.......
Dominik is a total caveman with prehistoric tendencies. He has no clue how to treat a woman or be in a relationship with a woman outside of physical intimacy. Your reaction to things coming out of his mouth range from serious eye rolls to laughing out loud! Inessa is definitely the other half of his soul. She has the patience of a saint which is imperative when dealing with Nik. Their relationship is dramatic, funny, and sooooo REAL! In addition to their storyline, their Bratva cell has a butt load of problems from the Irish mob to the Cartel. Seriously dramatic and graphic scenes thank the book gods!
This story NAILED every requirement for a five star read! TTB is a must read for mafia addicts. The story is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. The story doesn't end on a cliffy! It ends beautifully!

Dom is a jerk, plan, and simple. But he can be redeemed.. He just needs the right woman.
Nessa wants nothing to do with the mob. And Dom is all mob. But their chemistry is so hot they burn each other.
Dom needs out of his arranged marriage and he is having a lot of fun with Nessa. And the only way out of his soon to be nuptials is to get Nessa pregnant or to find his fiancee screwing someone else.
Nessa is not big on either option. She wants to be left alone. But you don't always get what you want.
This is another great emotional rollercoaster by Hayley. 💕

Hayley has done it again. I love her Russian Badmen and Dominik is no different. Compared to the others, Nik is more closed off, he knows what he wants, but isn't sure the best way to go about getting what he wants. Inessa loves him and has loved him pretty much from the time they met, but Dominik isn't sure what love is or what it means. He didn't come from the best circumstances, he didn't grow up experiencing love, so how can he know what it is? As with most couples there are multiple road blocks and barriers in their way to their HEA, but I loved the journey of this couple. Given how they started their relationship and how anti-Russian Bratva Inessa was, they had their work cut out for them.
If you have read the precious books in this series, you will not be disappointed in this book. To me, each book gets better and better. 5 stars for Tempting the Badman.

Inessa Kazlova is exposed to the brutal badman at five years old, and it's something that has stayed with her. And twenty years later, she knows that a badman is the last thing she'll ever want in her life. Inessa is proud, beautiful, successful, and independent who lives life on her own terms. And even though she now has a Bratva lover, she still does everything she can to keep it on her own terms, no matter how many feelings have developed. Dominik Markov is loyal to the Bratva, as they saved his life when he was young and dumb. Now he's worked his way up the ranks, not to mention, all the woman he has had in his bed. He's convinced that he will never love anyone, so when he gets offered a contracted marriage as a young man, he signed it, but has never actually married the woman. However, one of his lovers, Inessa, decides that she doesn't want to sleep with him anymore, he decides she will be his whether she wants to be or not, as she's somehow wormed her way under his skin. But will the price of making her his be too high to pay?
Well my girl crush here has knocked another grand slam out of the park with Tempting the Badman! I know she's brilliant, but how in the hell she keeps upping the ante with each book she puts out, is simply AMAZING! Plus, no one pulls out all of my girly girl emotions in such dramatic fashion like Hayley Faiman does! I ran the gamut of emotions throughout this intensely explosive story! My rage obviously comes out in force when these Bratva men try to change their ways, as I'm always ready to kick them in the junk. Then my angst level gets high, because I end up feeling the strong woman's, in this case Inessa, feelings like they're my own. Anyway, you get the picture. Hayley Faiman diabolically brilliant writing style, once again, held me in my seat, heart racing cover to cover. Her evil twists and turns had the dogs barking when my loud f-bombs dropped throughout. Super steamy, FIERY FLAMES of sexy scene goodness pretty much set my whole panty drawer on fire, and there were well placed humorous moments that got me laughing. It doesn't matter what she comes out with next, I'm going to be super excited! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Hayley has had me hooked from the beginning. Being able to bring a character from their lowest possible place, to having hope for a better life is amazing. Allowing a character to be bad, but still ensure the goodness within them is a great talent.
When unthinkable things happen, life changes for young Inessa. When you love someone, but despise what they stand for, one must make a choice, but sometimes, there really is no choice. Inessa wants nothing to do with the life of the Bratva, but circumstances have a way of changing your path. Living her life as she chooses, Inessa makes sure she lives her life as she wants. Her relationships are on her terms. Keeping herself at a distance, her current relationship is intense and satisfying but she does not get emotionally attached, although she could easily do so.
Dominic knows when not to push his relationship with Inessa, but Dominic doesn't realize Inessa's connection to the Bratva, until it's almost too late. Dominic must undo the future he signed up for. His future was set up when he was a teenager, but that future does not include Inessa.
Both characters find their own paths toward what they really want and what they can have. I love how the men are powerful and ruthless but also committed to the women they love and they make sure they feel their love.

I’ve definitely come to the conclusion that ALL these men screw up, lol, especially in the beginning. Unfortunately Dominik kept screwing up for most of the book. I loved Nessa, but I really felt sorry for her too. For majority of the book she was practically begging him to say he loved her, & he wouldn’t. Nessa had more backbone than a lot of the other women, but she still got weak as soon he put his hands down her pants.
I was disgusted by Dominik so many times- after staying out all night- allowing a w*ore to crawl on him, rub his d, & kiss his neck leaving lipstick, he goes home to Nessa, & allowed her to think he had sex w/the w*ore. But what really made me mad was when Nessa finally got pregnant he had audacity to question not only if he still wanted be a father, but if it was his! He knew it was, he was just looking for ways to claim it wasn’t his.
Aside f/his behavior, I did enjoy their story. I think each book gets better as the series progresses, but Kirill & Tatyana are still my favorite!

Loved This Book!
Another great Bratva book! I loved that part of Nessa's background and childhood was provided in this book. This story picked up where book #4 left off. A captivating, passionate, romantic and sexy story. The Bratva men as always cherish, protect their women destroying their enemies and others that betray them. it is gratifying to see books that loop, weave and intertwine with each other, catching up with familiar characters and old allies, the Notorious Devils MC. It broadens the enjoyment of the storyline. We see the tumultuous relationship between Dominik and Nessa that makes their relationship so explosive. Nessa's patience and love healed Dominik allowing him to admit his love to give them their HEA. Ready for future Bratva books and the Notorious Devils new book.

Dominick undeserving
Okay out of all the Bad Men, Dominick was the most undeserving man of the love of a good and faithful woman. Inessa was in trouble more than once and he never showed until it was too late nor did he show her compassion at what happened to her. He quite frankly is an ASS. He still has not showed the devotion the other men have after they realized how much they loved these women. I still think he has a lot of changing to do. Inessa still should remain strong and true to herself. She could take care of herself and with the help of her bodyguards she did. No thanks to Dominick. On to the next story as I still can’t believe how much I love this series.

His love
Com never thought he would marry even though he had a contract to marry a woman. He kept on pushing and pushing not to go through with it. Then he saw Inessa. He just wanted to conquer, bed her and leave her. But slowly she seeped into him that he always thought of her. He had to get out of the marriage contract. He either had to catch Larissa inn the act with a witness that she was in compromising position or.He had to get someone pregnant and he would have to marry her. He did both. But it doesn't stop there.

Dom and Inessa
I loved this story but at times I wanted to throttle both Dominik and Inessa. She is a strong female lead but she surrenders to Dom's pleasures to easily. Dom trys to be mean, tough with his Nessa but he fails because he loves her and doesn't want her to lose her fire. Which I find sweet, at first he doesn't come off as sweet just comes off as controlling but all along this badman was falling in love and he didn't know how to respond to those feelings. Konstantin plays a big role in this book and I can't wait to read his story. Happy Reading 📚

Tempting the Badman
Oh boy...ok first let me say I did like the book, but I wanted to murder Dominik so many times lmao. There were so many times when he was just an idiot and didn't explain things when it would have solved the problem.

Dominick and Inessa, just like the others, did not disappoint. Another great mafia story from Hayley. We have plenty of hot scenes, threats of death and having to fight for your man. Can't wait to continue on with this series.

Yet another tantalizing page turner in this Badman series! Despite wanting to read about their baby being born there's no doubt this hardcore yet sensual Badman will be front and center. Nik and Inessa's story is as steamy and sexually charged as his Bratva Brothers.

The author is doing good at keeping the storyline fresh and new with different storylines considering the length of the stories and the length of the series.

Another great story
I love this story
Dominick and Nessa are so perfect for eachother!
The struggle to get to where they need to be is amazingly told here!!!!

I loved these two so much! Dominick is the ultimate Badman. He's not the sweetest of these men but when he falls for Innessa everything changes. I think these two are seriously meant for each other. I fall more in love with this series as I read. I can't wait to read more.
