Interesting

There are some interesting people in this collection of short stories. The characters are well constructed. While they do not all know each other, they all are connected in some form and way to the Georgellen Club located in Galveston. They may know one or more people associated with the restaurant but no one person knows all of them. There is some variation in time periods which adds to the general flow of it all. For instance, in one story we see the beginning of the Georgellen Club, others take place during the middle of its "life", some even before. The restaurant itself leads a life just as the human characters do. Along the way we meet many people at different stages of their lives on their own paths. I sense that loneliness or "otherness" is something they may have in common in addition to the restaurant. This is a very quick read, took me about 3 1/2 hours.

This is a book of 15 stories about different people who are connected by a restaurant/bar on Galveston Island, Texas. They don't all know each other and their stories are unique and terribly interesting. And you don't have to read them in order. This writer has a definite style - using parentheses and lots of commas - which makes the book all the more interesting.
