The adventure continues in the third installment of the #1 New York Times bestselling Hero series by Jennifer Li Shotz.

Ben knows that it’s up to him and Hero to solve the case. As they embark on their most dangerous mission yet, the two best friends must stock up on their bravery and courage in order to outwit the fugitives and bring Ben’s dad home. Are the two heroes up to the challenge?
Get ready for another canine adventure full of danger, loyalty, and the unbreakable bond between a boy and his best friend.
At a pivotal moment in the last regular season baseball game, Ben's father (a K-9 cop) goes to the police station to track two escaped prisoners. When nobody hears from him, Ben sneaks off first to the police station with Hero, where they join the search for Ben's father, who is missing. After Ben is bitten by a venomous snake, he is hospitalized but cannot stand by idly so he sneaks off again, with a new friend. While I liked the third book of this trilogy, it seemed too much like the previous books to give it 4 stars.
My 9 year old daughter picked this book as one of our read aloud together books. I didn't read the cover, so I didn't realize until after we started it that it was out of order. She didn't seem to notice at all so it was all good. She really loved this story. She's a hard core animal lover. It's a great adventure story for kids.

Hero, the K-9 rescue dog, returns to action. This time his mission is to save the person who trained him. Ben’s father has been taken hostage by two escaped convicts. Ben and Hero join forces to find him before it’s too late. Along the way they make a new friend who helps them track the trail of the convicts through the forested mountains.
Although part of a series, the book is strong enough to stand alone. The characters show true feelings as they struggle through a scary and emotional situation. The book is too scary for the youngest grades but not scary enough for older grades. It would work for third through seventh grades. A good book for those who love dogs and those who like stories of friendships forged in difficult times.
A boy named Ben, he plays baseball with his friends on a team. His dad ( the coach ) is also a police Officer. All it took was one game, that would change everything in a matter of seconds.Ben and his friends Jack, Noah, and Marwan, all played on the same baseball team. Ben’s dad was the coach and in one of there games, he had to leave for a mission. Ben was sad and confused why his dad had to leave his game. Ben’s Mom knew what was happening but didn’t want to tell Ben because what had happened was really bad. Ben ends up deciding to go out on a rescue mission with another police officer name Officer Perillo, to go find his dad. This is just one of many series, but, this book is still very good. In the story, there are so many different types of feelings and emotions. If you are into adventure or intense situation books, this book and book series is perfect for you. I personal think that the author writing this book is really putting her imagination and thought into her books. Reading this book was so exciting and very fun to read. This book is for sure to grab your attention.
My Summer reading book was Hero Rescue Mission by Jennifer Li Shotz. This book is an adventure with a young boy named Ben and his rescue dog named Hero trying to save his dad that disappears going after 2 criminals that escaped from a nearby prison. Ben does this while also trying to lead his baseball team to the winning tournament. I really enjoyed this book and one of my favorite things about it was how the book was about a dog. I really enjoy reading animal books. Another thing was how this book was how it was written. The author left many chapters at a cliffhanger so you felt like you couldn't just stop reading till you found out what happened. One thing about this book that confused me was how the author didn't put much detail into many other characters. Like you never really got an introduction to who the other characters were. This book is the third book in the Hero Series so would recommend you to read the other books first so you can learn more about the other characters.
I would highly encourage anyone of any age to consider reading Ms. Shotz's books. The series does not seem to need to be read in order. Although the 3rd book does continue the story of Ben and his rescue dog Hero. The allure of a possible next book is hopeful as it was mentioned by Ben's mom near the very end that she and her husband, the chief of police will need to come up with something to give Ben something to do over the next four years. Ben being 14 years at the time of the writing of this 3rd book in the series.
Loved all three books in this series. I got started reading Ms. Shotz's works with "Max: Best Friend. Hero. Marine."
A dog, a boy and a crime packed together into an exciting adventure story. This is the 3rd book in the series about Hero, a search and rescue dog. Though it would help a bit to have read the previous 2 books this certainly stands on its own quite well. There is plenty of action to keep readers in upper elementary and early middle school grades enticed and turning the pages as fast as they can. This makes a terrific choice for reluctant readers, especially boys.
I will admit, I purchased book of this series because of the picture of the dog on the cover, just too cute to resist. I enjoyed the story line enough to purchase book 2 and 3. Book 3 is a nice continuation of the first two books and show's Ben, the lead characters, ongoing struggle between boyhood and adulthood. Great look at the love and loyalty a 4 legged family member can bring. The escaped convicts add a scary yet interesting layer to the plot.
Hero: Rescue Mission is really good. it is the 3rd book in the series. This book was adventurous just like the first book and the second book in the series. I rate book 5/5 stars because it has a lot of adventure and is a good read. This book is a page-turner because it has good dialogue and great action scenes. In the book, Hero and Ben have to help Ben's dad who is a police officer find two escaped criminals and bring them to justice.

This book was really good; it always kept you waiting for what's next. This takes place in Bens hometown where Ben has to find his missing dad. The protagonist is Ben he is a teenage boy who loves baseball, and his dog. The problem is that his dad was trying to find escaped convicts when they captured him, and he went missing in the woods with criminals. I liked this book and would recommend.
Justin's dad was taken by 2 convicts and justin and hero are looking for him but when the convicts say they are robbing the store it is tuckers store at the bottom of the mountain.
My book that i read for november was HERO it was about a kid and 2 dogs. Ben was playing with his dog hero at the park. Ben threw the ball to hero but it went passed hero. Hero ran out to find the ball and ben was not far behind him.
Hero picked up a scent and he was tracking it. What hero found was a puppy that had bite marks on it. Ben gave the puppy some treats and tried to leave but hero wouldn't go so ben brought the puppy home to his mother. Ben's mother freaked out. When Ben’s Father came home he told Ben you can keep him if you take care of him and you don't mess up.
The next week ben was training scout with heros old equipment and ben looked over and there was a black suburban driving slow
