"Florida Firearms", often called "the bible on Florida and federal gun laws, has been the leading book of its kind in the nation for twenty five consecutive years, with over 280,000 copies sold in Florida. It explains, in laymen's terms, every possible aspect of Florida and Federal laws concerning firearms, weapons, and self defense (other than hunting) along with numerous examples, and practical advice. Although written for the layman, it has seen extensive use in law enforcement and the courts, as well as being used and sold throughout Florida, especially in CWL and other firearm related classes. The book is updated free on the book's website yearly so that readers are notified of new laws and cases that impact the book. It is also updated in print yearly. Before retiring, Mr. Gutmacher's law practice was devoted primarily to firearm and self defense cases, and he is an NRA certified firearms instructor, former prosecutor, former FFL, former police legal advisor, frequent guest expert on various television networks in his area of expertise, and is still considered the leading legal expert on the subjects in Florida. The book gets a "five star" rating on Amazon for prior editions, and this newer 2019/2020 -- 9th edition explains the laws, cases and regulations passed both in Florida and federally thru May 2020, and also adds a number of new subjects, explanations, and suggestions not previously covered.

A must have for every Florida gun owner. This book translates into plain English everything that you need to know to be in compliance with the law. I especially appreciate the addition of basic information for neighboring states.

I only wish that there was an Ebook version that I could have on the Kindle app on my phone with my highlights and annotations easily accessible for reference without having to carry the 300+ page paperback around.

Legally, it’s very good. Gutmacher could definitely use an editor though. Not simply for ease of reading and style issues, but for ease of understanding as well. But overall, required reading for any Florida CWL holders.

If you own a gun for self-defense, you would be negligent not to pick up and study this book!!! Should be required reading for any Concealed Weapons Permit holders.
