Asaki Takamori (高森朝樹, Takamori Asaki), known by the pen names Ikki Kajiwara (梶原一騎, Kajiwara Ikki) and Asao Takamori (高森朝雄, Takamori Asao), was a Japanese mangaka.
This is certainly getting interesting now. Award for slow-burn manga of all time probably goes to this but all things considered I'm enjoying the manga so much more than the anime (an even slower burn) and am genuinely intrigued as to what directions we still have to go in (although I know one famous plot twist coming up). Joe's fight with Wolf was pretty great (RIP Wolf's career) and the saga of Rikiishi's obsession with Joe has really bedded in, the seeds of which feel like they were sown such a long time ago. Although this book is so often about Joe's super-punch (cross counter) it's the little details that make it - Nishi's inability to diet, Rikiishi choosing to sleep in the gym because he hates that he has cultural and wealth advantages over Joe and wants to win the fight on his terms.
