The Alaska Shifters #3

Caught by the Cougar

Rate this book
Calvin Baptiste enjoys his solitary life. But now that he’s more involved with the shifter politics in Alaska, he’s trying to find a balance between his anonymity and his duties to his people. Buying a house in town and collaborating with the Callaghan Clan are just about all he can handle. Until he meets Trooper Lowe. There’s just something about the confident, strong, and bike-riding beauty that has his animal riled up and his human side wanting to spend more time with her.

Sutton Lowe has seen enough hate to last a lifetime. After a devastating experience as a Texas state trooper, Sutton decides it’s time for her to make a change and protect all types of life. Hired by the ISC to assist with shifter issues in Homer, she quickly finds herself wrapped up in their world—and falling in love with one particularly difficult cougar.

The shifters are still being hunted, only this time the enemy is unknown. The target on Calvin’s back grows with his fame and Sutton fears the worst when she gets a phone call from the grizzly clan. Now the shifters have to work together to fight this new threat and save those who have been captured—regardless of the political consequences.

Warning: This story contains strong sexual themes, sensual shifters, and delicious romance for insatiable appetites. It is intended for a mature audience.

Note: This is a stand-alone novel, the 3rd book in The Alaska Shifters series, but it is also part of a greater series, The Shifters of Alaska World.

I really liked this book. After meeting Calvin in some of the other books it was great to finally see him become part of the Alaska pack of shifters. He's been an outsider for so long that to be accepted and to find his mate seemed too good to be true.

Calvin is not comfortable in the spotlight that is currently shining on the shifters of Alaska. Since agreeing to be one of the shifters who exposed themselves to the public in the big reveal, Calvin and his cougar have been in town more than at their remote home in the forests. He’d agreed because it was the right thing to do – but it certainly messed up his loner status – not to mention the group of new and old friends who he now saw on an almost daily basis. It was certainly a different life than he’d lived such a short time ago. And with the arrival of two new state troopers assigned to the safety of the newly outed shifters, life was about to get even more interesting. The male wasn’t hiding his fear of the shifters very well, but was completely natural around the babies. The female though, she was definitely interested, particularly in him. And Calvin and his cougar definitely returned that interest.

Sutton found herself surprisingly attracted to the cougar shifter. Calvin. An obviously strong man and one that if she wasn’t mistaken was doing some looking of his own. But she was here on business, to meet the shifters she was to protect face to face – and see where other things might move between one shifter and herself over time. She couldn’t understand the hatred directed at these shifters, after all they’d lived right beside humans for a very long time and done nothing to harm them. But there will be crackpots and idiots wherever there is any type of controversy. She’d left her position in Texas because of one particular hate group, and hoped with all her heart that she’d not encounter them again any time soon.

Although Calvin and Sutton’s attraction moves very quickly, there is no doubt to the solidarity of their attraction. In Caught By The Cougar we are also brought face to face with ultimate evil and hatred when the unthinkable happens. The events here definitely set up the next story in this series. And there are some very intense and tense moments. While I don’t want to give away plot lines, be prepared for some action and a few surprises.

Caught By The Cougar was a quick but powerful story. One that I’d recommend for any Shifter Romance reader. At this time these seem to be three more stories around this series, and based on the action in this story I’m definitely looking forward to the next one.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

I am so glad that Calvin got a book and you will too if you read this series. It gets better and better as each book comes along. I am falling in love with this series. I can't wait to see what is up next. The only think that I hate is the way people are reacting to the news of shifters. But like with everything people dont like what they cant understand. That is the only way I can explain their actions. But I am on the shifters side on this one. If you have not read these books yet it is in your best interest to do so.
I do not like to give out spoilers and the introduction to the books gives you the jest of what it is about. I just like to tell people how much I love or dont love the books and this series I have not found one that I dont like yet. So go and grab your copy today.

Calvin doesn't want to be social never mind mated with anyone until he meets Sutton the state trooper helping to protect the shifters. Sutton had never been interested in anyone but Calvin does something to her insides.
But someone is stealing shifters and experimenting on them and Calvin and Sutton have to stop them.
Short but good

Who knew becoming more social could do so much

Calvin has enjoyed his life of solitude ( like most of cats) until forcing himself to spending time with other shifters after the big reveal. For a cat that has lived so long he is speechless when at a event he comes face to face with the only woman he thought never existed...His mate!

Although this chapter of the Alaska Shifters was fun to read, certain parts really made me mad. It's things like what happened in this book that gives scientists and labs a whole new meaning

Good

While the book itself was good there was no zing of excitement with book 3. I got distracted by typos.

LOVED IT!

I swear this was an amazing book and I just can't seem to get enough of the whole series. Unfortunately, these books show just how bigoted we are as humans and fortunately just how amazing we are too.

This is an extremely great read! It continues the saga of the shifters in Alaska who have "come out of the closet" about their shifter side. The latest shifter is Calvin Baptiste, a cougar , who meets with a new member of the law enforcement team, Sutton Lowe, a former Texas cop and a bike riding woman in her spare time. The sparks fly between the two of them. Unfortunately Calvin gets spooked about how he feels and after their first love session he literally runs for the woods. Now that so does not endear him to Sutton who gets pissed off royally since she has no idea why he did that. Unfortunately Calvin and several other shifters have been kidnapped by a group who wants to study shifters to see how to adapt their genetic genes to humans and to ultimately destroy all shifters. The rescue is fantastic with lots of action.
A definite must read for this series!!!

this one was super suspenseful. I knew things had taken a violent turn for the shifters we love in the series but this one really had me worried. Calvin has been one of my favorite characters since he was introduced in the series so I was super happy to read about him finding a mate.. and it was only fitting that she was a gun toting state trooper!

With the secret of shifters exposed Calvin is now in the limelight, exactly where he doesn’t want to be. With human rights activists fighting to stop shifter rights and the threat of persecution everywhere, Calvin’s cougar along with his human side have kept to the shadows. When he meets trooper Lowe, his life takes on new meaning, and the chase begins.
This was a good start to a new shifter series. The political element is refreshingly realistic while the romance aspect of the story was a lighter part of the overall book. Sinn has shifted the regular shifter strengths and made the female human, normally the weaker species, the hero. The alpha male is still present and described in full beautiful detail but the strong female lead gets my vote.

Caught by the Cougar

Calvin is a cougar shifter. He meets the new sheriff deputy and is stunned. Sutton is ex military as is Calvin. He tries to stay away from involvements but. That is no longer possible. Zane and Calvin are kidnapped by a lab that is running tests on shifters. Great story with steamy scenes and lots of action.

I love how they came out to the public. Very believable storyline and I love the characters I couldn't wait to find out what happens next. Wish it was a little longer and in more detail but it was a good story.

Caught by the Cougar

I wish they had caught all the people that were hunting them. I can't believe they cut his toe off. This book was exciting and crazy at the same time but I loved every minute of it.
