I've lost count now of how many Eagles' biogs I've read. I avoided this one for some time, assuming it would be largely a re-hash of material found elsewhere, but I was pleasantly surprised...

I've also lost track of who is ahead in the 'blame game'/power struggle which allegedly went on between Don Henley and Glenn Frey. Shapiro's book is refreshingly fairly even-handed on this score - most other authors seem to come down heavily on one side or the other.

There are a number of new-to-me quotations and anecdotes, as well as a good selection of photographs. I don't know whether there is now an updated edition - the narrative in my copy ends c. 1994 with the Hell Freezes Over reunion - obviously a lot has happened since then, not least the sad passing of Frey, but the band continues to tour and perform and 1994 is nearly three decades ago...
