The Gift

Rate this book
Kochouseph Chittilappilly, a successful industrialist and one of the leading names in business and philanthropy in Kerala, was sixty years old when he decided to take an unusual, even controversial step. Moved by the plight of a close relative, Chittilappilly decided to donate his kidney to a poor truck driver-a stranger. The Gift is Chittilappilly's inspirational story as he journeyed on the path to achieve his objective. He describes why he took this decision; the various objections from family members, business associates and society at large that he had to deal with; the medical and ethical checks and balances he had to tick off; and the final deep sense of satisfaction he derived from having started a whole chain of voluntary organ donation in the state by his momentous act. The Gift not only exposes the glaring ignorance about organ donation in India but also educates the reader about it by providing excellent insight into the personal, medical and legal aspects of being a donor. Simply told and inspiring, this unique story needs to be read and dwelled upon by every individual.

The Gift Book by Kochouseph Chittilappilly is wonderful book which gives us detail on how he have donated his kidney. KC is famous industrialist and founder of V-Guard and Wonderla group of companies. From a humble small scale industry it became one of the leading company in India.
He come across kidney donation by seeing his son's mother in law's struggle as a kidney patient. He decided to donate his kidney. He along with Fr Chirammal started the initiative for donating kidney. In which one of member of receiver will be ready to donate their kidney to another person so that cycle continue. Organ donation especially kidney is one which is controlled by organ Mafia. By one of member of receiver agreeing to donate kidney to another will make to reduce such mafia's game.
After donation he even heard people telling that KC have made this for publicity and no donation was done . For this allegations KC ignores as it is usual that people will find negativity with everything positive we do and continue his journey in encouraging the donation.
Last chapter he gives details on redtapism in government which take time and leads to life /health issue for receiver. If this red tapism gets low it will help many for good and healthy life.
