Boudreaux #5

Easy Magic

Rate this book
Family. Responsibility. Stability.

As the co-CEO of Bayou Enterprises, and the eldest of the Boudreaux clan, Beau is the epitome of these. Now that his baby sister Gabby is happily settled down, Beau has moved into the company loft in the heart of the French Quarter to be closer to his office while his own home is built. He doesn’t have time for anything but the family he adores and the company that drives him.

If only the bewitching owner of the herb shop downstairs from Beau’s loft wasn’t so damn tempting.

Mallory Adams is living the life. The good life. The best life for her. After years of hiding who she is, and the gifts she’s been cursed with, Mallory opened her little shop in the French Quarter, offering herbs and lotions for anything from soothing a sunburn to chasing those pesky ghosts New Orleans is known for out of a client’s home. Some call her eccentric, and some say she’s simply odd, and that’s okay with her. She is a bit odd, but in her experience, all of the best people are.

When an old pipe bursts in the loft above her store, flooding her storeroom, Mallory comes face to face with Beau Boudreaux, and she doesn’t need the clairvoyant abilities that have been passed down through generations to know that she’ll never be the same. Beau is her exact opposite; serious, straitlaced. He wears suits for Pete’s sake and probably wouldn’t know the difference between arnica and flaxseed if his life depended on it. But when he touches her, the electricity is through the roof and she’s smart enough to know that a chemistry like theirs doesn’t happen every day.

Can two people so very different possibly find their way to happily ever after?

Sigh...I just don't know.

I don't even know what to say about this book! I wanted to love it so hard because I usually adore Kristen Proby's books, but this one was only meh for me. I liked the characters and their story was good but it didn't have that "wow" factor for me, and frankly left me confused on how I actually felt about it.

Beau and Mallory were okay characters individually, but together I just didn't see the chemistry that I always look for in a KP book. Beau especially didn't make me love him because I felt like I didn't even know him. So much of the story was focused on Mallory and her gifts, which I loved, but it took away from the other Main character (Beau) and from the romance. I really liked that this book had a little paranormal aspect to it and I was intrigued with that, I just wish It didn't take over the book so much.

And since that was focused on SO much I was also looking for a bigger climax to all of that. There was a scene at the end that was led up to so much that I was looking for this big dramatic or emotional scene...and then nothing. It was done and over with before I could even blink and left me questioning if I missed something.

Maybe it was because I had a completely different idea of what this book would be like after reading the ending of Easy Kisses or maybe my mood just wasn't right for this book when I read it. Whatever the reason, this book just didn't make me love it like I wanted to. I'm clearly in the minority on this one, which makes me so happy that so many others are enjoying this book more than I did and I would still definitely recommend this book be read. I may do a re-read some day soon and maybe I'll feel differently then.

Usually I know when my favorite books will be released, but with Easy Magic it was a total surprise. I had no idea it was going to be released in April and of course I put aside every other book and began this one. I love the Boudreaux family and I consider every story to be special. Well, this one topped them all.

I have to make a confession. I am dying for Savannah and Ben's story and when I saw that it will be Beau's instead , I was a little disappointed. Not that I don't like Beau, but this tension and chemistry with Sav and Ben is killing me. Of course Kristen knows that and will leave the best for last. But after reading Easy Magic, and don't regret it and can easily say that this was my favorite book from the series. Until now it was Easy Charm, but well, these are the perks of reading fabulous stories, you just don't know when you will be surprised.

Beau is the oldest of the Boudreaux. He fully took the responsibility after his dad dies and became the family man, the protector of all his brothers and sisters. All his life was dedicated to the family company, to making his father proud of him. Love was not on the menu. He had hid faire share of girls, but nothing that can make him settle and fall in love. Until he met Mallory. She has a small shop rented in his building and they met each other while Mallory needed help with a leaking pipe. That moment was epic for them, that instant attraction that went beyond anything ever felt.

Mallory is special. She has a gift, passed from generation to generation. She is an empath, a clairvoyant, and a medium.. She could see and talk to dead people, comunicate with others like her only through the power of her mind and read others emotions by touching them.. So concluding, they are from different worlds, but the minute they met, Mallory felt that Beau had a calming efect over her and that near him she could be herself, a normal woman, that could let her guard down and enjoy this love that is taking over.

From now on, they will live a passionate and interesting love story, packed with "special" events that will be very different to what readers of the Boudreaux series are use to.
Mallory and Beau were so good for each other. 2 different worlds that collided and clicked perfectly. I loved Mallory as a heroine, I imagined her like a superhero with special powers, that fought for justice and struggled to keep her powers at ease.

I am a fan of this type of stories and having also a passionate love as theirs was just the epic combination. She was so strong, a woman that kept her walls up in order not to get hurt, but when Beau appeared in her life, everything just changed. She felt in love with him, trusted him with her heart and didn't regret it for a second. Beau was a very romantic and charismatic hero. He also fell deeply in love with Mallory, felt something special and couldn't imagine being without her. He is also a traditionalist, not exactly an open minded guy, but he believed Mallory and managed to continue the relationship even if he was not 100% aware of the extend of her powers. I loved the way he treated and cared for her, how he was practically her anchor between the 2 world she shared. He will have some moments of hesitation, but as all heroes, he will figure out how to make things work again and fight for his girl :)

This story was unconventional for this series, but I loved it. It was sweet, special, packed this hot scenes and emotional moments. I really believe that Kristen did a fabulous job on this and created such a strong bond for our couple. I loved Mallory's dreams, they were perfect and heartbreaking, exactly what you need to cure a broken heart. I enjoyed seeing the family together again and also some members that I haven't got the chance to meet in the previous books.
It was just sweet and perfect for me:)

5 stars!

Finally Beau and Mallory are here!!! Can’t believe Easy Magic, one of my most anticipated release this year – actually, since the very first book in the series – is live!

Easy Magic was just that, pure romantic and passionate MAGIC from the very first word to the last. Kristen Proby gave me everything I had been hoping and dreaming for these two and a hell of a lot more! It was perfect in every delicious Cajun way!

We know Beau from the very first book of this series, as the oldest of the Boudreaux siblings, and for that very position, the stern, ‘uptight’ and most workaholic and protective of them all! Yes, he still is every bit of that, but when Mallory comes to the scene, lets just say we get to see a whole new and even hotter side of him…

Jesus, she’s the sexiest little thing I’ve seen in, well… maybe ever. She intrigues me, and she turns me on with just a look. Since when is lip biting my thing? Apparently, since now that I know Mallory.

Mallory has been distant from almost every single people surrounding her for years (in reality, almost all her life), because of the consequences and discrimination of her gift. Her emphatic and psychic nature are a part of her she tries to keep hidden, but when she’s brought into the Boudreaux fold, it didn’t stand a chance to remain a secret for long. They are too amazing to let her keep her distance!

I don’t want to know the future. That’s one thing I can’t read, and I don’t want to. I’m happy to live in the present, and let life happen.

And that’s just talking about the rest of the family, because has soon as Beau got close to her, she didn’t stand a chance – not that she fought much, lol – against his charm and his sweet and gentle nature towards her. A nature he has until then reserved just for his family. She shifts his world from its axis, as much as he give her the much need calm and peace she long for all her life.

Being touched by Beau is like being touched for the first time in my life, and I never want him to stop.

Not that they are just love and softness, given the amount of sexual chemistry always charging the environment surrounding them. The surprises happens also in the bedroom, because Beau’s alpha dominance, and their dirty talking took the things between the sheets, from hot to, in their own words, a ‘f@cking inferno’! These two were indeed the perfect balance of sweet and scorchingly hot!

“You’re moving awfully slowly,” she grumbles.
“I’m savoring this,” I whisper and kiss her collarbone. “I’ll only ever get to see you naked for the first time once. I don’t want to rush it.”

“That’s lovely,” she says. I move my hips slowly, pulling out and then pushing back inside, and she sighs.
“Is this lovely?”
“No, it’s fucking amazing,” she says. “It’s like you were made just for me.”
“Because I was, sugar.”

Awww… Beau really was a swoon worthy hero, and Mal was just as amazing. Couple that with the fantastic secondary character, which is always a pleasure to revisit, and a well thought and realistically – even with all the paranormal events and nature – developed plot, of course Kristen Proby gave Easy Magic the recipe for success! This was my favorite of the Boudreaux series, and with all the glimpses we got thought it and this book, I can’t wait for Van and Ben’s story! Biting my nails in anticipation here!

“I don’t love you despite your gifts, Mallory. I love you, period. In the end, isn’t that what we all want? Someone to choose us, to love us, no matter the circumstances?”

4 I'm surprised Stars

This book was a nice surprise for me.

I've been loving this series since the beginning and I loved all the Boudreaux family and how they found their HEA and their family got even bigger.

"Easy Magic" is Beau's book! He is the oldest brother and protector of the family. For him everything are black or white, so when Mallory comes in his life with her secret abilities he is thrown back, but that doesn't keep him from getting to know her and pursue something more.

description

This book was so different from the rest of the series that when I started it I wasn't sure I would like it, but here I am giving it 4 stars! Because I really enjoyed it even with the . It didn't bother me while reading it even though it's not my scene!

...I'm completely in love with you. I'm not going anywhere, and when the time is right to have children, it's going to be with you.

description

DAMN I just loved Beau and his big heart and maybe other parts too. But he was really a great guy and he found his one and he was absolutely crazy for her!!! *swoon*

Beau and Mallory were so damn good for each other and I loved their chemistry and how honest they were since the beginning. Of course in this book we see once again the whole family with kids and big dinners and girls night out and possessive men loving their women! I loved it when they gather all together and have a big, fat, delicious dinner with jokes and laughs.

And most importantly I can't leave out the amazing, hot, sweaty, rough, and sexy scenes between Beau and Mallory. They were going at it like crazy and couldn't keep it in their pants for long.

Overall a really nice reading even though with the weird stuff that happened, it didn't stop me from enjoying their story and how they learn to trust and accept the differences they had! Maybe for some this book will be silly but when you get into it just allures you and it doesn't bother you so much. Well at least that's how it was for me!

Now I just CAN'T wait for Savannah and Ben's book! FINALLY!!!!

-*How many times are you going to mention it Maria?*
-*Until I have it in my hand!!! Then I'll SHUT UP for good, bitch!* ;pp

I am disappointed with Beau's story. There is no magic as it was promised on the title.

There is no character development. Both Beau and Mallory are 1 dimensional character. Their chemistry is cold. Really cold. There is no seduction/ vulnerable moment between both of them.

Again, very much disappointed.

I don't remember Beau being...nice

I know I have a bad memory but this Beau and the Beau I've met in previous instalments didn't really seem like the same person. The Beau I've met before was a wee bit gruff, cynical and arrogant. The Beau in Easy Magic was...nice. Sure, I get that we are seeing the real Beau in his own story, but it just seemed that he accepted Mallory's abilities too easily.

Talking about Mallory's "abilities", I think I'm a bit sceptical. Actually, I'm a LOT sceptical. I "believe" in magic while I'm reading a paranormal/fantasy story because it's unreal. I don't believe in it in reality. So, I can't help but scoff as Malory fights inside her mind when her empathic/psychic stuff happens. Seriously, if I saw someone fighting (with actions) invisible monsters, I'd be calling for the men with white jackets.

Anyways, it was pretty good catching up with everyone, it just wasn't all I was hoping for. Now, I'm hesitant to dive into Ben and Savannah's story in case I'll be disappointed. Soon...ish, I might give it a go.

An enchanting and bewitching romance that was a blend of sweetness, magic, and lots of passion!!! Kristen Proby is no stranger to hot sexy contemporary romance and so in her newest release, Easy Magic, she brews up a love story that will easily charm and spellbound you with Beau Boudreaux and Mallory Adams.

Mallory Adams has a gift. She is an empath, a clairvoyant, and a medium. So in order words, Mallory is special and comes from a lineage of women who shares the same abilities. And so when she meets Beau, who happens to be the landlord to her shop, she is surprised that she doesn’t read him. Usually, she can read and touch people with her gift but with Beau..there is nothing but calmness.

Beau is enchanted with Mal. There is something about her that draws him to her. It is her beauty, intelligence, and kindness that makes him easily fall for her. There was no need for magic or spell because these two were already fated to be together.

The chemistry between Beau and Mallory is something of magic. It just felt right and explosive. Their passion and connection was so intense that readers could feel their love being radiated and felt through the pages. Beau is hands down my favorite male sibling of the Boudreaux clan. He was sweet, caring, patience, sexy and oh so swoonworthy.

If you are looking for a story that blends love, magic, and passion then look no further than this book. Proby does an excellent job keeping readers entertained as this book was filled with so much magic, chemistry, and sexiness.

A bewitching and passionate romance...easily my absolute FAVORITE of the series! Kristen Proby weaves romance and magic to create something truly special and touching with Beau and Mallory's story. Alluring, sexy, and absolutely charming, EASY MAGIC took me by surprise and held me captive the whole way through. Passionate, emotional, and utterly ADDICTING! Be ready to SWOON over Beau and Mallory's epic love story!

"You're moving awfully slowly," she grumbles. "I'm savoring this," I whisper and kiss her collarbone. "I'll only ever get to see you naked for the first time once. I don't want to rush it."

Ok, can we just talk about Beau Boudreaux for a second? I mean, THIS MAN is freaking EVERYTHING! Kristen Proby creates some pretty DAMN FINE heroes in her books, but there is just something about Beau and the ease of his character that just drew me in right away. With his 'sugar' and 'sweetheart' and 'baby' talk...HOLY CRAP! Did I melt into a big puddle of goo or what! He is probably one of my FAVORITE heroes that Proby has created. And don't even get me started on the sexual chemistry between him and Mallory. I'm STILL fanning myself silly over here!

"I'm going to take you back to your place this evening, strip you naked, and tie your hands with this scarf. Then I'm going to fuck you blind."

Yep! You just read that one right! Beau has a sweet side, and then DAMN does he have a dirty side. I love them both! And Mallory's character was ever so charming and beautiful, the absolute PERFECT fit for our Beau. These two together was just EVERYTHING!

If you are BRAND NEW to this series, that's completely O.K. because each book can be read as a standalone. Just keep in mind that there are a few paranormal aspects to Beau and Mal's story. Nothing crazy, but you know this is set in New Orleans, so there is some magical history there, so I would be surprised if there wasn't. But don't let that take away from the actual love story embedded in this magical romance. There is an emotional pull that you will not be able to deny. EASY MAGIC has so much passion, so much love, and so much heart, you can't help but get caught up in it. EVERYTHING about this story was magical. I expected no less from an incredibly author like Kristen Proby. She puts pen to paper and the magic ignites. I loved EVERY SINGLE SECOND and I guarantee I'll be going back for more VERY SOON!

“You have no idea how important you’ve come to be to me, and I don’t know how to explain it.”

I loved Mallory Adams and how different she was. Her abilities brought an element of paranormal to this series which I greatly enjoyed. She comes from a family of strong empaths, mediums and psychics. Mallory has always tried to hide who she really was, especially after her grandmother died when she was just sixteen when an evil someone invaded her mind while she was trying to find missing girls. But some parts of Mallory’s gifts are hard to deny, like seeing the dead and being a strong empath. She’s learned to live with her gifts, trying her hardest not to touch others and happily running her little shop in the French Quarter, selling herbs and lotions. She’s used to being seen as eccentric and odd, and it doesn’t bother her. Her abilities also made it hard for her to have relationships, especially since touching others made her feel everything they were feelings. I loved that Beau was the one person she couldn’t read, that she could be normal with. I also loved her need for independence and her good heart.

I have loved the eldest of the Boudreaux clan, Beau, since the first book. He’s the serious sibling, who lives for his family and the company they own. Until recently he had lived outside of the city, looking after his baby sister, but now that Gabby is married and happy, he decided to move into the company loft until his house was finished. The loft upstairs from the herb shop owned by the bewitching Mallory. I loved how Beau didn’t wait to make his move on Mallory and how he took care of her when her gifts left her feeling unwell. And despite him being logic minded, he never though less of Mallory once she told him of her abilities.

This author always writes the sweetest and sexiest romance and I loved Beau and Mallory together. How passionate their romance was and how quickly they fell for each other. I loved how there was no one else for Beau once he met Mallory.

It was wonderful catching up with all the Boudreaux siblings and I especially liked Mallory’s best friend, Lena. I really hope Savannah and Ben’s book is next. I really need them to finally end up together.

Easy Magic was another fantastic addition to this amazing series and I loved every page. A definite must read for all romance fans who likes their romance to be sweet and sexy with no unnecessary drama.

4 1/2 "I see dead people..." Stars!!

I freaking loved this book! Not only do you have panty melting hot, charming, protective and filthy rich, Beau Boudreaux, and sweet, sassy, essential oils/lotions/candles, and such French Quarter shop owner, Mallory falling in love; she is a psychic medium! I LOVE THAT! Kudos to KP introducing the paranormal into her contemporary series.

I love PNR and Fantasy Romance. They are my first reading loves. I also love the city of New Orleans. Every weird, historical, ghostly, supernatural, stinky bit. (I can't wait to get back there.) Anyway, So when one of my favorite contemporary romance authors kicks in with the paranormal, writing a book about a lady that can- see the dead, can read peoples' thoughts and emotions, her bestie is a witch, and it's all based in New Orleans; I'm all-in!

Kristen Proby did not disappoint me with this one. She added the paranormal, and kept all the sweet charming romance, along with the big, happy, loving, nosey family she is known for; and that I love. Win, win for me! I love this whole series. I CANNOT wait for Ben and Savannah! Hurry up June! LOL!! Happy reading!

I have been waiting patiently for Beau Boudreaux's story since I first met him in Easy Charm, I don't know why but there is just something special about this guy and Easy Magic did not disappoint me.

I loved Mallery and her gifts she is a sassy funny lady and the both of them together is just sexy and sweet and I loved the supernatural element in the story this brought a different twist into their love story.

As with all KP books I loved all the family get-togethers and all the shenanigans they get up to. I found the conversation between Beau and his Dad to be beautiful, I love how the Dad appears to each Boudreaux sibling in their own story as a guiding light.

I adore this series and I will be sad when the next book is released as it will be the final in the Boudreaux series.

Beau did not disappoint.

I was dying for more of this series I ve enjoyed it so much so far. I m a huge fan of KP she really know how to create brilliant characters and stories. I was looking forward to Beau's story. I ve read him in the last four books and luv how protective he is with his family and will do anything for them. The relationship he as with Gaby is so cute i just think he is such a great guy and it helps how sexy he is.

I m not goin to lie I was a lil worried about Mallory the whole psychic thing worried me but I have to say she was brilliant. I really enjoyed her she is so positive and caring. Even with the what she as gone through with her family she is just positive and makes the most of life. Meeting Beau did scare her. Her psychic powers seem to calm her she felt safe around him and there attraction was instant. I really liked them together.

This story is quite different from the others. The psychic twist was good and I liked how the author dealt with it. It was cheesy or over the top. I like the people that were close to Mallory and getting more of the Boudreaux family is always good. But I m dying for Ben and Van's story I don't know how it's goin to go cause there both fighting it but I m dying for them to stop being stupid and get together.

I would highly recommend this book and this series. It's really good the story flows really well and its hot in parts. Like I said it a bit different which is really good. Once I started it I couldn't put it down the story just sucked me in like alway. I luvd it.

The love story was sweet.
Likable hero, nice heroine, safe.

However, I didn’t quite get the paranormal/suspense part…
But don’t let me irritate you!
Maybe my brain is already shrinking

Maybe it’s not the book, it’s me!

Easy Magic (Boudreaux #5) by Kristen Proby
Narrated by Rachel Fulginiti and Zachary Webber
Stands Alone Easily. 5th in an interrelated series. Contemporary Romance with Paranormal Elements.
4.5-5 stars

Now I understand why everyone raves about Kristen Proby! As a rule, I don’t start series in the middle, but I was told that Easy Magic by Kristen Proby stood completely alone, and I wanted to read Kristen Proby, so I grabbed it. Easy Magic is the 5th in the Boudreaux series, but if I didn’t know that, I don’t think I would have ever realized it. If you have read the previous four in the NOLA based series though, you’ll be pleased to know there are a few lovely family gatherings where you will visit with what I assume are couples from previous books in the series.

I have to start this review by saying I loved everything about the Easy Magic audiobook, from the story to the romance to the accents that narrators used, I loved it all. My favorite thing about it though, is that it’s a contemporary romance with strong paranormal/psychic elements, but I don’t think it’s enough to call it a totally paranormal book, nor do I think it will turn off traditional romance readers who have never touched paranormal. In fact, I think it may open those people up to a whole new world of books. New Orleans has always been known as a hotbed of magical, psychic and ghostly activity, so I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to find this in a NOLA based series, and to me, it was a refreshing and welcome change from the same old stories.

Mallory Adams is the granddaughter of a powerful and well-known psychic who often helped police find missing children. She was raised by the psychic, and when Mallory realized that those psychic abilities are also what killed her grandmother, she locked down her own abilities as much as possible and refused to have anything to do with them. But it’s not something easily turned off. While Mallory can’t find living people, she can communicate with the dead, and whenever she touches anyone she can read their mind and emotions. She therefore hates being touched; but Beau Boudreaux is the first man she can't read when she touches.

Mallory owns a shop that sells essential oils and natural cures. She rents the shop from Beau, who lives in the loft above while his home is being built. When Mallory is woken in the middle of the night by a dream that her store was flooding, she races to her shop, and sure enough, three inches of water cover the floor. So she has to wake up her hot landlord.
"I’ve met the man exactly twice, including right now, but what he does to my libido is ridiculous."

Beau is a no-nonsense, workaholic kind of guy. He is also very observant, especially of Mallory. He notices everything about her. He notices she doesn’t like to be touched by other people, but doesn’t know why. But believe me, he plans on finding out that and a lot more from Mallory.
“Well, don’t get me wrong, every woman wants to be told she’s pretty.”
“I didn’t say pretty,” I reply and lean in, resting my elbows on her desk. “‘Pretty’ is too dull of a word to describe you.”

I loved that the characters were mature, and even though the relationship developed quickly, it didn’t seem like instalove, more like they were old enough, smart enough and experienced enough to know that the connection they share was unique and special.
“I’m savoring this,” I whisper and kiss her collarbone. “I’ll only ever get to see you naked for the first time once. I don’t want to rush it.”

The sex was totally hot, and I loved how she was not some virgin who was scared ‘it wouldn’t fit’, nor did she second guess the lust she felt for this man.
"I'm going to take you back to your place this evening, strip you naked, and tie your hands with this scarf. Then I'm going to fuck you blind."

I loved that there was some danger and excitement and a little bit of angst to keep you listening or turning pages. Seriously, I think Easy Magic was a great ride.
Likes:

•Excellent pacing.
•Stands alone perfectly well.
•I loved the paranormal aspect, even though I would still call it a contemporary romance since the rest of the series doesn’t have this.
•I loved all the side characters and now I’d like to read all of their stories.
•The hero and heroine were mature adults who knew what they wanted.
•I loved Beau so much.
•Hot and sexy times.
•Mallory was mature and I loved her snark and her abilities.

Dislikes:

•I wish it were a bit longer, I loved it so much, I didn’t want it to end. At 6.5 hours, it is a bit shorter than many of the audiobooks I listen to.

Narration:
This is the first book I have listened to that was narrated by Rachel Fulginiti. She had a very strong Southern accent, and though I usually hate fake accents, I honestly have no clue if this was fake or real, and I thought she did a great job. Zachary Webber, as always was great, and the slight NOLA accent he used really worked, though since both characters grew up the same area, you would think they both would have a similar accent. But that’s OK, it worked fine. I loved the fact that her voice was a little more mature than some I have listened to recently.

The Down & Dirty:
Easy Magic may be the fifth in a series, but don’t let that sway you. I never felt lost in any way for not having read the first four, and I usually never start series in the middle. While this is very much a romance, Mallory’s psychic abilities drive the whole story, making this as much a paranormal book as a contemporary, but don’t let that scare you if you are not a fan of paranormal. It doesn’t seem as far-fetched as most paranormal books, and it made for an interesting and unique storyline filled with romance, sex, danger, fun, love, family and friendship. I’m totally hooked and now I need to read Ben and Van’s upcoming story.

Rating: 4.5-5 stars, 4.25 Heat, 4.5 Narration

The romance between Mallory and Beau was really sweet. It was an enjoyable and low drama book! The paranormal stuff towards the end was a bit over the top.

I LOVED Beau http://amzn.to/2idabhF
4.5 stars
Easy Magic is a book whose hero, I have been waiting for…. you know… a secondary character in a series you love, the character who needs his match… and then WOW, he exceeds your expectations! That was this book for me! Beau Boudreaux was everything I hoped he would be and MORE!

I want to make sure to note the title of the book so perfectly matches the story inside.

In Easy Magic, Beau meets his match in Mallory Adams, the store owner who rents space in a building he owns.

I loved Beau and Mallory, his love and acceptance of her. I think he may be my favorite hero of the series (I will pause and say so far because I am dying for BEN and I think Ben may top Beau but I digress).
The author did a fabulous job of not only showing in words why Mallory was different for Beau but more importantly used his actions and reactions of those around Beau. Like an admin who is quick to notice he works less and is willing to “work from home.” A driven man making time in his life for a woman to me speaks volumes of the deep connection he feels.
There are paranormal elements that show up in the large store inside of this due to Mallory’s abilities, and though some spoke to me and I felt to my core, especially those that were present prior in the series, there was one scene and second element that I struggled with a bit. I struggled to believe and I had to re-read said scene a few times. This may be due to my lack of paranormal and not the author. It was because of this that had the book not a 5 star read for me.
Mallory’s grandma’s “why” was an EPIC twist I didn’t see coming and one that really explains why this woman worked herself into the grave. I am not saying more as I want the reader to experience how this plays out!
As with this series and many others by Ms. Proby, the secondary characters added to this story.
This series continues to have me loving this family. They have such wonderful and unique relationships with each other, the banter here is outstanding and something I have come to love about this author.
As with the prior books in the series, the use of the patriarch of the Boudreaux family had me falling in love with this family even more!
I loved LOVED the hint of Ben’s long standing love of Savannah and gosh I can NOT wait for Ben and Van to figure it out. Their story is on the top of my highly anticipated list!
Thank you Ms. Proby for this wonderful family saga set in New Orleans, this book allows the soul of the city to shine through!

‘Being touched by Beau is like being touched for the first time in my life, and I never want him to stop.’

Easy Magic was just that. An easy and bewitching read. There are times when we’re in the mood for something light with sweet characters, a book we can easily lose ourselves in and this book delivered in a super cute and sexy way.

We first sampled Kristen Proby’s work back in 2012, when we read her debut novel. It’s been 5 years and quite a few book releases in between and we’ve always been eager to revisit her work. Easy Magic sounded enticing, and the first thing we noticed upon reading it was just how much this author has grown. Wow! We adored her writing in this novel, and loved the concept of the Easy Magic. The otherworldly, ghostly feel with a good helping of romance was right up our alley.

“In the end, isn’t that what we all want? Someone to choose us, to love us, no matter the circumstance?”

Easy Magic was our introduction to the Boudreaux clan and is sold as a standalone in the series. We will admit we worried that we would feel a bit lost, being that is was book five, but we followed the story perfectly thanks to some summarising and catching up noted by the author during the book. We loved the pretense of this story, the otherworldly clairvoyant aspect really grabbed our imagination. We wouldn’t call this a paranormal romance per se though it does definitely have a paranormal aspect attached to it, and the New Orleans setting added to the ambience of the story.

“I’m a handful,”
“I have two hands.”

Beau is the oldest of the Boudreaux family, a big boisterous and very loving family of six grown up children. Since losing their Dad, Beau has relished the role as head of the family, immersing himself in the role of natural protector of his Mum and siblings. He’s a nurturing son/brother, so the family protector aspect comes easily to Beau, though it has come at a cost. The workaholic Beau has put family and work before thinking about settling down with a family of his own.

“Oh, Beau, be careful. I could fall in love with you.”

That is until a curvy, firecracker enters his life. A lady with a very special gift. Well, it’s a sort of gift and curse. Mallory revels in her little shop in the French Quarter selling lotions and natural healing. She’s also known to chat with the odd ghost or two and can read a person’s with just a touch. Beau is instantly smitten with Mallory, and Beau has a gift of his own that attracts Mallory…well, apart from his good looks, charm and sexiness that is. You see, Mallory can’t ‘feel’ Beau’s emotions. Oh she can see when he has lust and want in his beautiful browns but she can’t read him as such, not only that, but Beau provides a calming to Mallory she hasn’t experienced before.

“You’re….”
“I’m?”
“You’re everything.”

Now, there are hocus pocus shenanigans, lots of steam, and wonderful friendships all around this couple. Easy Magic was sweet, not overly dramatic, a bit intriguing and sometimes even a little chilling in the ghostly realm. There is some sweet banter between Mallory, Beau and their family. There were times it could be a little -for want of a better word- cheesy, but overall, it was just what we needed!

Easy Magic brings together a magical psychic and a multi-billionaire together in the French Quarter of New Orleans where magic and romance mix to new heights...

I have to say that I am getting a kick out of this Boudreaux family and even though I have had a blast I am also kinda sad that this series is close to being fully read because I just don't want to let this family go!! So in Easy Magic, we get Beau as our hero and I will be honest, he is one of my favorite siblings. Even though he is the oldest, I have always found him to be the most easy going and laid back despite his driven need to succeed and take care of his family after his father passed away. You see how devoted he is to his family and that they are his top priority. And boy I love LOVE that about him, seeing that his mother and siblings always come first until now and he meets the owner of the herbal shop.

Mallory Adams, is the owner of a herbal shop in the French Quarter, she is sassy and sweet. Mallory also has psychic talents that she has tried to ignore ALL of her life. She can see dead people and many times she tries to push them out. But when her grandmother passed away from being murdered by an evil psychic trying to stop her grandmother from helping people, Mallory pushed her talent out of her mind. But the same killer that went after her grandmother is also after her and Mallory may not survive.

When Mallory asks Beau Boudreaux for help when her apartment floods, he comes down instantly to help her out and the chemistry between them is too much for either of them to resist. They both realize how vital it is for them to act on what they feel for each other because it's powerful. But Mallory is scared too because what she feels for Beau is more than she has ever felt for anyone else, and she worries that he won't accept her and her gifts. But Beau isn't about to let the woman he adores more than life to slip away and will fight for her.

What an incredible emotionally driven romance that Kristen Proby has written for us and I just got a kick out of this book. I don't know why I waited so long to read this one, I get I was a bit nervous about how Proby would handle the magical and the paranormal elements for a very obvious contemporary setting. But let me just say that she handled it so well and with the New Orleans setting...it works perfectly. My heart reached out to Mallory though, she hasn't really had much luck in the love department. She fears her gifts and worries that she will never find anyone that will accept her unconditionally and when she begins her fling with Beau she also worries that she will lose her friends in the Boudreaux clan.

We see some fun elements in this book, and some moments were so heartfelt that I almost was tearing up. Yes this book worked my emotions like all the previous books have, but this book was a bit different. We get to meet with her grandmother, a ghost that haunts her shop who has no clue she is dead, a seance where the Boudreaux gals seek to reunite two lost souls and we get to meet the father of the Boudreaux and he was a HOOT and honestly there were quite a few poignant moments that pull you instantly into this riveting romance.

I will say that what impacted me the most in this story was the love story and the way that these characters connect with each other. I ADORED Beau in this book, he is so steady and sure of his love with Mallory and even though he has his doubts at times with her gift because he just doesn't believe in the psychic stuff, however, he can't deny certain things that Mallory says. I do love how devoted he is to Mallory though and what a hard worker he is. He may be a billionaire and have tons of money but he works so hard to be successful and that is so impressive.

I do want to mention the narration of the book and the whole series. Its in dual POV so we get two narrators for each book and its the same narrators and they are AWESOME!! I just love the way they make the characters come alive, the southern drawls are just right for the setting and the inflections fit the emotion in the moments that matter. So well done!!

I will say that even though I don't think Easy Magic is my favorite of the story....its the most unique of the books. There was something unconventional about this installment and probably the most emotionally riveting of them all....definitely a story that will charm its readers and leave you happy as a lark in the end!! I can't wait to read the finale of the family....so bring it on, Kristen Proby.
I don’t love you despite your gifts, Mallory. I love you, period. In the end, isn’t that what we all want? Someone to choose us, to love us, no matter the circumstances?

No brainer on this. Easy Magic is a definite 5 star read

Awww I adored this book so so much.

I was so hoping the next in the series was going to be Van's book. And was sort of disappointed when it was announced it was Beau's instead.... But ya'll... After starting this one, I couldn't have asked for a better book. and I think it went in the exact order it should have.

Because let me just tell you... This book was absolute perfection.

It was so sweet, and so romantic.
And I loved that little bit of paranormal that Kristen threw into this one.
This series has always sort of had a spiritual fell in the sense that all the Boudreaux kids have this special connection to their late father.

But this book pushes even that with Mallory's abilities.

But the way Kristen tackled them, and not only Beau's, but the whole Boudreaux clans reaction to them was what I loved.

Shes created such a kind caring set of characters with that family. and I love watching as their dynamic changes and molds to the new additions of each of the siblings new relationships.

But let's get real I to this. Mallory and Beau themselves were the stars of this book, and I just loved the story Kristen wove with the 2 of them.

We get to see this whole new side to the before, somewhat mysterious workaholic Beau.
And of course we only got the smallest glimpses of Mallory in the past books so really dicing into her story I loved. She's such a complex character.

And the more we get to read and know her, the more I loved her, and her small little family of Mrs. Sophia and Lena.
They gave this very unique and interesting story. And I loved the love between the end of them. How they helped and worked with each other.

But I also loved how Beau just accepted tings so easily. He's so not the type of character I thought he would be. And I loved that I was so surprised by him.

He is such a kind caring man, but yet seems to have the weight of the world on his shoulders. And seeing him really slip from that role and into a man that just wanted love and affection and someone to truly are his life with made me just a big ol' pile of goo.

It's the way he is with Mallory and her gifts will make you swoon. I won't go into details so I don't spoil things, but ya'll!!
That both is a real keeper.

This book was so fast paced though. I found myself sort of shocked as I neared the end, we didn't have that massive conflict that normally signals... Oh looks like things are gonna wrap up soon. But more just eased into the conflict and blew through it.
It was sort of refreshing seeing such a breezy way of going about the story line in this book, and I'm happy Kristen can write such different stories but yet still hold that thing that I love so much about her books.

Kristen constantly surprises me, and I can't tell you how much I loved this book. And can't wait for it to be out and in everyone's hands.

Thanks so much Kristen for the early copy from Apollycon. I can't tell you how much I loved getting this awesome story just a little early.

No brainier on this one
I give EASY MAGIC

“You can't control the wind, but you can adjust your sails.”

Sweet, sexy romance with a touch of the mystical, this was a lovely little read. Book #5 of the Boudreaux series brings us the story of Beau – eldest of the Boudreaux family, and a swoony alpha sweetheart.

Mallory Adams runs a herb shop that is located in a building owned by Beau, and underneath the apartment where he lives. They haven’t had a lot to do with each other, but when Mallory calls on Beau for help when a pipe bursts in her store, an attraction is sparked that takes them both by storm.

Jesus, she’s the sexiest little thing I’ve seen in, well… maybe ever. She intrigues me, and she turns me on with just a look. Since when is lip biting my thing? Apparently, since now that I know Mallory.

Beau and Mallory are gorgeous together. From the very beginning they are open about their attraction and what they are feeling for each other, and I love that they just dive on in and don’t hold back from each other. They date, they hang out, and the flirting and sweet moments are gorgeous, and of course there’s lots of sexy time.

Being touched by Beau is like being touched for the first time in my life, and I never want him to stop.

But there’s more to this book than just the romance. Mallory lives with supernatural powers – she can sense the emotions of others and she sees dead people – and her abilities and the way they impact her life are a big part of the story. Mallory embraces her powers but she has never explored them to their full extent, and when a dark presence starts to make itself known, she finds herself in unexpected and potentially deadly danger.

Beau is the only person that Mallory is unable to read. Usually she can sense emotions through a touch, but Beau’s touch brings her nothing but peace and quiet (and all sorts of sexy tingles). And though he doesn’t understand it, Beau doesn’t let it come between them, and I love his complete acceptance of Mallory as they fall hard for each other.

“I don’t love you despite your gifts, Mallory. I love you, period. In the end, isn’t that what we all want? Someone to choose us, to love us, no matter the circumstances?”

As usual, the rest of the Boudreaux clan are along for the ride and there are lots of group scenes – both with the whole family and with the classic girls’ night out. I loved catching up with the other couples from the series and loved the teases for Ben and Savannah’s long-awaited story. I can’t wait for their book up next!

I enjoyed this book. It was sweet, sexy and romantic, and I loved seeing Beau and Mallory get their HEA.

3.5 stars.

**ARC Provided by the Author and InkSlinger PR***

Kristen Proby is a favorite of mine, because I know when I pick up a book by her, I am not going to be disappointed. I know I am going to laugh, there will be characters I enjoy, that there will be sexy times that are hot and also bond the characters and move the story forward.

Beau and Mallory, not surprisingly, did not disappoint. Beau is the straitlaced older brother, the one who feels it is his job to keep an eye on everything. This translates to his relationship with Mallory.

There are facets of Mallory that would not be easy for anyone to relate to initially, and I like that Beau accepted it, at first because you can tell he knows she believes it, and at the end, because he has seen things for himself that make him understand.

There were some parts that felt a little glossed over to me. Beau as a character, for example, seemed to really rely on the information we had about him in previous stories. This was not an issue for me, as I have read all of them so I know who he is, and a lot of the backstory, but I think this might have made it a little inaccessible for readers who may be new to the series.

Overall, this was a great addition to the Boudreaux stories. The setting in New Orleans, as always, is a love letter to a city that I adore, and that is part of the charm, that they live and work in New Orleans, and especially for this one, the setting really helped with the suspension of disbelief that may be a necessity for some readers for the psychic elements of the story.

I recommend this book.

I feel like a part of the Boudreaux clan. This latest installment is Beau and Mallory's story. I think part of the reason I like these stories is partly because these characters are mature and in their mid-late thirties. They don't create angst just for its own sake and they've been there, done that.

Beau is a confirmed bachelor who is a little betwixt by his tenant Mallory. she is gorgeous and independent but has a little mystery about her. That's where the magic in the title comes from. Mallory has "the sight", she can see and communicate with dead people. Her grandmother had it before her, although she could actually see things before they would happen. Mallory holds her gift close to her heart, not sharing that knowledge with strangers.

There is some paranormal in this story and I have to admit that I am not a fan of that genre. I skimmed over some of those parts and centered on the romance of the book.

I can not wait for Van and Ben's story-I feel like I have been waiting forever to see them finally get rid of those friend zone barriers!

5 Easy Magic Stars

Ok I think this book is my favorite of the series, and I haven’t even gotten to Van’s book yet and that is the book I am most looking forward to!

I really liked Mallory and the medium kind of thing she has going on empath all of that. I loved that she just accepted who she was even if she does close herself off from it too. I don’t know if that makes much sense but it’s how I felt.

Now Beau is freaking awesome, even though he doesn’t believe he also doesn’t completely believe either and he doesn’t judge at all. He just accepted who she was at face value. I really liked that about him.

This whole book kind of gives me the willies because ghosts and spirits I very much believe in and even just reading about it I don’t know it’s just that feeling like we are not as alone as we think we are.

Thank you Zachary Webber for having such an amazing southern accent you made this book period. Even of Story. :D

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Beau Boudreaux is the eldest brother, having taken over the guidance of his younger siblings when their father passed away, he is used to leading this group. When he moves into the apartment the family owns above the herbal shop, he is intrigued by the woman who runs the shop, though he keeps his distance. He doesn’t have time outside work for a relationship.

Mallory Adams runs a small herbal shop, taking joy in helping people with her herbal remedies. She leads a quiet life, with only her nearly-family friends for companionship. Lena and her grandmother have been a part of Mal’s “family” as long as Mal can remember, and share the secrets of her abilities, even as Mal has closed herself off from the psychic.

The chemistry between these two is great. While they haven’t had a lot of contact prior to the beginning of this book, they know of each other, and when they decide to see what could be between them, it isn’t difficult to see each other more often with Beau living over Mal’s shop. It was fun to watch Beau, with his take-charge, no-nonsense outlook as he pursued the free spirit that is Mal.

I love the touch of magic in this story. New Orleans has that bit of magic at its heart, and though it hasn’t been a large part of the story so far, bringing in Mallory’s abilities is a great way to tie that tradition into the Easy series. She doesn’t use her psychic abilities much, having grown to fear them instead. This is more about Mel coming to terms with what her powers mean and how she can use them comfortably than it is a paranormal story. It is part of her, but it doesn’t define her.

I’ve said it before but I love the Boudreaux family. Once again, this family welcomes new members as if they have always known each other. They are open-minded, warm, and a great support system. As each sibling has settled down, they circle together just as tightly as when they were all single, watching out for each other and weaving the new partners into the mix with no trouble. I can’t wait for Van and Ben’s story, and though they seem no closer to a resolution, I hope they find one soon!

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

A contemporary romance with a magical twist...back with the Boudreaux family once again focusing on the eldest sibling, Beau, and his sassy psychic, Mallory...Beau is the head of the Boudreaux family and a no nonsense kind of guy; the consummate protector and control freak; he has always focused on two things, business and family...enter in Mallory who lives her life surrounded by ghosts and strong emotional pulls; a psychic and empath, she has lived avoiding the touch of others in order to bring some level of control into her unpredictable life... opposites attract is an understatement for this story...the chemistry between these two is sexy, sweet, sassy, and romantic all rolled into one...I absolutely loved this pairing...on top of that, the supernatural story was intriguing and touching at the same time...the backdrop of New Orleans only adds to the mysticism and allure...there were many touching moments throughout this story that had the tears falling as well; the relationship between Mallory and her grandmamma was simply beautiful; Beau's connection to his father was heartbreaking ...once again, Kristen Proby provides us with a beautiful romance that had me experiencing an array of emotions...4.5 Magical Stars:)

I didn't hated it but i didn't really like it either.
It was too sugary sweet and it took me some time to feel the chemistry.
I thought the paranormal part was OTT especially when it doesen't add up with the story.
I actually don't mind reading paranormal (i love it) and even in stories set in the "real" word it's always nice to read a little about magic but here i was just "whaaaaat ?".

Anyway it was easy to read and quick but my bitchy self is not happy with books lately ^^
