The jacket assures us that ‘No dogs were harmed in the making of this bookâ€, but some of them do look a bit apprehensive, some are loving it and the bull terrier is just humouring the odd photographer lady with the Frisbees and the wind machine (therein lies the trick). We dare you not to smile. No jacket.
First of all this book's title is a misnomer for the dogs truly aren't flying even as much as the author would like to imply that. Pups in the Air could have worked or something else that would have given a better idea than what has already been implied by the collection of the book.
Basically this is just one large photo book that is based upon real actual dogs who for the most part were dropped from their owners' embraces onto a mattress while the camera was rolling to catch the face. Due to other effects like fans there are some pretty interesting pictures, especially with the longer haired breeds and one poor adorable fellow whose teeth are showing. Sadly, though, unlike other similar books this one doesn't have an index with the name of the dog and/or its breed for those who may be interested.
All in all it was okay for a look-through but really nothing I would recommend unless you either enjoy just plain photographs, puppy pics and/or are interested in duplicating the photographer's photo style. Otherwise a coffee table may be a generous enough spot to set it if you dare.
