The Blackhands are riding hard into the Old West genre as only they can do — as a battle for dominance takes place both in front of and behind the GMscreen.
You will thrill to the group’s conga-line-of-death antics in this special action packed collection of strips that follow their adventures in Cattle Punk the RPG.
From the brutal squalor of a cell in the infamous Cauldron Territorial Penitentiary to the carnage of Bovine-Geddon, you are invited to slap leather and ride a one-eyed mare with our, um, heroes, as they blaze a trail of destruction and mayhem across the frontier, sometimes known as Pete’s table.
Make no mistake partner, this is no mere compilation but a “director’s cut” of your favorite western-themed strips featuring the Black Hands that have appeared in Knights of the Dinner Table over the last twenty-five years — expanded, massaged and reworked with over 60 pages of all new material never seen before!
The KNIGHTS OF THE DINNER TABLE comic is always best when it goes slightly off course from its somewhat done to death Dungeons and Dragons parodies. In this case, the Cattlepunk games are hilarious as the bloodthirsty angry stupidity of the Knights actually works slightly better in their pseudo Old West stories. I'd argue these are actually more entertaining than the main comic and are a good starting point for newcomers to the Knights and their adventures.
For fans of the long-running Knights of the Dinner table this is a great volume that combines most of the Cattlepunk strips that have appeared in the comic and includes new and revised material to knit it together a bit more. It's a great way to not only follow their Cattlepunk adventures but watch the evolution of the Knights over time.
The volume would probably appeal to almost any tabletop gamer with tolerance for simplistic art with good storytelling. It is much more meaningful, I think, for those who have are already fans of the series.
I love me some Knights of the Dinner Table, and while the Cattlepunk series was never my favourite, I can't say no to spending some time at the Knight's table, especially with extra material!
