An American historian who specialized in Native American topics. He served as a combat correspondent during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star for his coverage of the U.S. capture of Guam. His interest in Native American history started during an assignment from Time Magazine.
Enjoyable read for anyone interested in the minutia of congressional sausage making from the founding to the mid 1970s.
I only gave it 4 stars because I felt that the amount of detail and insight offered by the author fell off during the post-WWII era. Before we got everything, especially for the Calhoun and Webster years. Otherwise very enjoyable and accessible.
