NOTE: This edition features the same content as the traditional text in a convenient, three-hole-punched, loose-leaf version. Books a la Carte also offer a great value; this format costs significantly less than a new textbook. Before purchasing, check with your instructor or review your course syllabus to ensure that you select the correct ISBN. In addition, you may need a Course ID, provided by your instructor, to register for and use MyLab products.
For one-semester sophomore- or junior-level courses in Differential Equations. An introduction to the basic theory and applications of differential equations Fundamentals of Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems presents the basic theory of differential equations and offers a variety of modern applications in science and engineering. This flexible text allows instructors to adapt to various course emphases (theory, methodology, applications, and numerical methods) and to use commercially available computer software. For the first time, MyLab(TM) Math is available for this text, providing online homework with immediate feedback, the complete eText, and more. Note that a shorter version of this text, entitled Fundamentals of Differential Equations, 9th Edition , contains enough material for a one-semester course. This shorter text consists of chapters 1-10 of the main text.
Also available with MyLab Math MyLab(TM) Math is an online homework, tutorial, and assessment program designed to work with this text to engage students and improve results. Okay I admit I had a really good professor for this class. But even so I think this was an excellent book. Very easy to sit down with and work through.

This was a decent introductory text. I does seem quite brief.

There is one thing I was not a fan of: A lot of interesting results/functions/lemmas/etc. are buried in problems. This is useful and fine to an extent, but I thought they overdid it here: a lot of material could have been developed in the text. Keeping these 'extra' pieces in problems is no doubt one reason the book is thinner than others I've seen.
