Dante Garcia is sexy, hot, and totally lickable. His dark hair, sexy body and gorgeous eyes make it impossible to stay away from him. But, I have to. I can't even think about him. Not even late at night when I'm alone. Because he's married to my sister, and this family get-together just became a nightmare for me. How am I supposed to even be in the same room with him? For me, this summer trip is going to suck, much like I wish Dante would suck on me.
This book is a standalone story with no cliffhanger.
Lola Shane is a twenty-two year-old Bostonian who’s traveled to Maine to meet with her sister, mom, and new brother-in-law. Lola’s attraction to her sister’s husband starts off innocently enough but quickly snowballs out of control.
► The best part of this story? Lola’s silly humor:
“Oh, I love sticking wieners in my mouth. These little ones are fine, but usually I like the bigger, hard variety.” I pop one of the appetizers in my mouth and smile at my joke.
This is a taboo read with a twist. It’s short, funny, and has a mini epilogue included.
Let me start by saying I love taboo forbidden romances. I was intrigued by the title and blurb. I thought there was going to be some backstory, second chance or angsty plot to it, but this book was straight up cheating! Why is there cheating? Because both Hs have the hots for each other. No love, no solid conversations, no depth or cute moments either. Just talk about what they want to do to each other.
The heroine meets her sister's new husband and lusts over him right away. They have an affair and the hero acts like it's normal. Once the truth comes out about him marrying the sister to get citizenship, the heroine gets mad for not being told the truth. The nerve! Umm, just no. She didn't know the circumstances before, yet she still allowed the flirting and the sex. I honestly wouldn't have minded the cheating part if there would have been solid reason or plot behind it. Do yourself a favor and skip this book.
I liked the premise. The end, however, felt like a cop-out. The whole cheating thing kind of got neutralized. Despite the fact that a lot of readers hate cheating, I find that very interesting when explored in literature. So, I got disappointed when the author decided not to "push the limits", so to speak.
Also, the ending was a little too abrupt for my taste.
In Search of Redeeming Qualities in this Messy Story
Romance requires you to feel something kind and generous towards the characters...which is why you want them to end up together. The more erotic romantic fiction sometimes emphasizes the physical connection, but usually cannot get away with eliminating sympathetic characterization, or developing the characters at all, past lust.
All that to say, this was not a satisfying read for arousal, nor emotional connection. The characters act, and react, but it's at a base, primal level, described as overwhelming attraction, but coming off as immature lust and selfishness. The characters openly state how little they like, or care for, the secondary characters... and focus only on how "good" their bodies want to feel to the exclusion of family, country, loyalty...if this is what a fantasy young adulthood looks and acts like, I am glad to be old, and will have to limit the NA authors who insist on parading tepid hormonal imbalances, as some sort of compelling story. Third time's not the charm for Chance, I am afraid.
No doubt the sexy times are hot(if you can get over the whole hooking up with your new bil), but the h is WITH HER SISTER's HUSBAND! Very little plot, insta-love, very little explanation at the end. Where's the connection between the H and h?? I have to believe if you are going to be with your sister's husband there has to be more than just lust involved... to risk your relationship with your family for a f*** with a relative, no, no, no!

This is a short read. I'm not a huge fan of instalove so it took me a bit to get with the program. Once I got past the instalove, I actually enjoyed the story, and even the taboo of Lola being with a new BIL. I did like the characters, but wondered why they were the way they were....
I read Ms. Chance's first novella, and I see improvement with her storytelling. The story flows better. I do wish that she would fill in the story more. I think the 2 I've read had great potential to be at least twice as long, where the reader will feel a little more satisfied with questions being answered, with characters being more fleshed out. This story ended is little abruptly...left me with all sorts of questions...
Keep up the improvements Ms. Chance, I look forward to watching you grow as a writer.
My Sister's Husband is a short and sexy read, that felt a bit rushed to me. Cara has been known to push your limits and get you out of your comfort zone with her taboo and forbidden stories. She usually has that one sex scene that does exactly that, while there are plenty of hot n' steamy moments; there isn't that "one" signature Cara Chance scene that I have come to know and love.
I loved Lola, she was snarky and sarcastic. The unfortunate part is I don't think we got the full impact of Dante. I realize this is a novella and it's hard to capture the complete essence of every character, but I would have love to have gotten to know Dante more intimately.
I also felt that the story comes to an abrupt end, with little to no closure on these two characters. I was really hoping to get some closure.
Lola is meeting her brother in law Dante for the first time after he sister eloped only to find out Dante is the sexiest man she's ever seen. As much as they try to deny their attraction they can't.
I enjoyed this book but, my only issue was that it was rushed. I know it's a short read but, certain situations just jumped to quickly for me.
Hot, quick little read and really enjoyable. Just wanted to rip Dante from the pages and if that's what the author wanted to accomplish, then job well done. Overall rating 3.5 due to other issues with the story.
3 3/4 to 4 stars. This is my first Cara Chance book and I was pleasantly surprised by her writing. This is a very quick read. It's a bit on the taboo side. And it's got some really hot scenes. This story is interesting but doesn't have a ton of depth but sometimes you need a light dirty read between the heavier reads
I think for a fairly new writer Cara has quite a bit of potential. As a reader I'd like to see her expand more on what she has in terms of storyline and really build a full fleshed out story. I would have given this a solid 4 stars in the quicky lighter reading category but for me the end was kind of a miss. It felt abruptly ended. I think there was potential to expand that ending and not leave the reader wondering.
All in all I can see that this author has potential and I can see that there are readers that will enjoy this book.
This is one of those stories that's like driving by a train wreck. It's horrible and ugly, but you just cannot look away. Lola and Dante both come off as cheap and whorish, with zero regard for Lola's sister. I'm not prude when it comes to cheating stories, I actually like them when they are done right. Lola though, she was such a slut. She and Dante sneaking off to screw every chance they got right after meeting. Not sure if I was just in the mood for something cheap and smutty, but that's pretty much what I got with this one. Wish there had been at least a little more chemistry between the two main characters. ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Cora is fast becoming one of my new favs with her amazing short stories!! This is a short but oh so sexy read that I don't think will dissapoint you. It is a light, dirty read with not a whole lot of depth but that's why we read fiction, to escape rality. I love the way that yes, it is taboo but it always has a way of working out. I was so enthralled with this story that I could not put it down and I'm so glad that I didn't because it is intense but light at the same time. There is a happy ending and no cliff hanger so what more could you ask for?!
A nice quick read and perfect all around. Lola has found out her sister eloped and has now been summoned from Boston to her mother's cabin in Maine. Lola was definitely not expecting to see the hunk of a man Dante. But will being married stop him from acting on the attraction he feels for Lola? Can they stop it before they mess everything up? Will the truth set them free? Quick paced read with a great storyline and perfect ending. Highly recommend.
I was like at first - bummer and than all of a sudden twist. I absolutely love this story Dante is a doll and Cara write one hell of a great story. First book of 2017 -it's a great start-it's a great book.
I think this was the most annoying unexciting thing I've ever read Theres no realistic progression between moods or feelings ???? one sentence she doesnt wanna fuck her sisters Husband and the next sentence she does its like a shitty badly written yoyo Everything felt flat and as unattractive as they possibly could be. No depth. Wanted to quit reading after 6 chapters She calls her sister a dumb bitch constantly like...why.. this story coulda been half good if an effort was made
This was a really quick read. I don’t normally give such a low rating but this book lacked everything. It had no character development. It had no falling in love story. The writing style was atrocious.
I gave it two stars simply because it was a quick read that didn’t take up too much of my time.
Only thing I liked about the book was that it has a HEA. Other than that not really a fan. Sister sleeps with brother-in-law is not my thing, even it it was get a paper marriage.

Just wrong!! No introduction whatsoever, hurried storyline with little details.. Only finished it because I knew it was a shorter book and it might get better, but it didn't!!
Rushed and illogical. Could have been way better if taken time to get the ducks in line, given them a strong characterization and hold over one another. I felt nothing for none. Sorry! Not for me.
