I’ve always been Miranda Phillips, the town pariah. Growing up with neglectful parents, having sought attention from all the guys that were willing to give it to me, I wasn't the most well-behaved kid in Lone Star. Not to mention all of the juvenile delinquent acts I’ve committed in my past.

But now I am Lone Star’s only reporter and I’ve come a long way from being that lost, troubled girl. Even if most of the town still judged me for it. I don’t allow anyone to get in the way of what I want. Including Ryan John. So when I corner him in a dark hallway and get him to succumb to the sizzling attraction between us, I know I’m playing with fire.

***

I’ve successfully avoided her for two months but I haven't forgotten how she tastes or what she feels like in my arms. And when I get sent a mysterious letter from some company wanting to buy my thousand shares of water rights that have been in my family for over a hundred years, I’m convinced that there is no one…err, better equipped, to help me than Lone Star's reporter, Miranda Phillips.

I know how desperately she wants me and this letter gives me all the reason I need to spend one night with the girl from the wrong side of town. One night in exchange for her tight investigative skills. And believe me, she's tight, in more ways than one. Just one night. Because Miranda is trouble and being on the city council, as well as guardian to my younger brother and sister, means I can't afford trouble.

Even if it comes packaged just the way I like.

Wet by Ashley Bostock a fab four star read. This is the first book in the Love in Lone Star series, it’s also the first book by this author I have read, and it won’t be the last. The author has a way with words that made me feel as if I was reliving my misspent youth, it also had a great way of showing how much we grow up without even realising. This is a compelling and clever read that will have you giggling in places and putting and smile on your face when you least expect it. The duel POV makes this story so great, it adds real depth to the characters.
Miranda Phillips is a young woman with a past she is trying hard to put behind her, she was young and stupid back then, did some things she would rather not think about and as anyone who has lived in a small town no matter where in the world you are, some people have long memories and no matter how hard you try to move on some people will never allow you to forgive and forget. But now maybe Miranda can get to writing the news now instead of being the main attraction, things will change? And maybe they won’t only time will tell.
Ryan John hasn’t always had it as easy as it seems on the outside, having lost his parents and putting his life on hold to raise his siblings isn’t easy, and maybe now he can see the other side of the story. But seeing the other side isn’t always what’s needed, when you have a front put on show do you really need to keep it up? As appearances are sometimes the most important thing, aren’t they?

I went back and forth on this book, I quite honestly put this book down a few times thinking if I just took a break and came back with fresh eyes I'd get into it.
Not the case, as much as I loved the blurb I was sure I was going to fall in love and fly right through this book, sadly the blurb was the best part for me.
I've put off actually writing this review, giving myself a chance to digest what I read and even going back to pick at a few areas thinking I missed something that made this better than I rated it.
First of all is Ryan, while he appears the all mighty Alpha ladies all over town adore, doing the right thing raising his siblings but in truth he's anything but. Big, sexy and bossy he may be but he's more sissy than alpha. I was disappointed in him so many times. His seemingly noble priorities weren't all it was cracked up to be either.
Miranda. I get the whole nobody believes in me, nobody wants me I'll just sleep with him an cross my fingers that he can still stand to look me in the eye the next time we cross paths, but for a woman who was at a glance strong due to the adversity she faced in that town but still stayed and forged on, she was anything but when it came to Ryan.
She's willing to basically pry one night of sex out of this man in exchange for something he wants. It's more modern day prostitution than sexy.
An the fact that he couldn't be seen with her, couldn't let anyone know they had spent a night together and would hide and basically ignore her in front of any and everyone, just no. I wanted to pull my hair out, I'm not sure if I wanted to slap Miranda or punch Ryan more. Maybe if I just smacked their skulls together a few times I would have felt better.
I'm not usually so critical and I feel horrible writing this but this book just didn't do it on any level for me.
A woman who's past won't leave her alone in a tiny town full of stuck on themselves jackasses, who doesn't believe in herself enough to be with a man who respects her, I just could not stand it.
I finished the book though I truly didn't think I could and I debated what rating to give it, I'm still not sure I should give it three but it is what it is, this is where I'll leave it.

OMG this book and not in a good way people!!! Okay, so I like to think I can't be shocked...well that's not true anymore book peeps!!! THIS book shocked me. It wasn't that it didn't have a good synopsis or that it wouldn't have been a good read if it didn't have so much sex. I know what you're thinking - What? That's a good thing! But I have to tell you that it made my eyes and ears cry. If your having sex 2 cabins down from your 13 or so age siblings (meaning you kicked them out of the cabin to have sex) you have a problem. If your sexy talk is "oh you're so wet, blah, blah, blah" over and over the same thing...you've got a problem or you need to seek medical attention immediately! I'm not a prude but this bordered on x-rated and should come with some kind of warning. If your Alpha treats you like a ho, you need to bail...like you're in jail! No lie, I felt like this dude needed to take some etiquette lessons. I read some other reviews saying to trudge through it's worth it - I sadly did not find this the case. I have not found 2 characters that I found so dislikable in...well ever. That's saying a lot. I will say that it was well written and there were no grammar issues I could find with the ARC version. It just took me forever to actually read this book because I was too busy putting it down to read others and a really good book doesn't let you do that. It grips you and doesn't let go...this book sadly didn't do that.

I received this book for free from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Miranda Phillips has always been the town’s outcast, with neglectful parents Miranda was constantly making the wrong decisions, all the delinquents act that she committed, finding attention with guys who were more than willing to give it to her.
But now being Lone Star one and only reporter Miranda has made a lot of changes in her life, coming along way from being that troubled girl making the wrong decisions, but still the town still judges her for it. But Miranda won’t let the judgement or the comments get her form getting what she wants, that includes Ryan John. Finally getting him in the corner so they can finally succumb to the sizzling attraction between them but she is fully aware she is playing with fire.

Ryan has managed to avoid her for two months, but he still hasn’t forgotten how she tastes or what she feels like in his arms. But after receiving a mysterious letter regarding his thousand shares in water rights, he knows there is only one person equipped enough to help him find out who is behind it all. With this letter, it gives Ryan the reason to spend one night with Miranda, but only one night. Because being the guardian to his younger brother and sister he can’t have them around trouble, and that’s exactly what Miranda is trouble.

Wet is book 1 in the Love in Lone Star Series, from author Ashley Bostock and my first book from this author, and I cannot wait to see what other great stories I can read from this author, and what else she will bring to this series.

This was a great book, and a brilliant start to a series that I know will continue to get better and better. This book had various themes throughout it from love to mystery with trying to figure out who the letter came from but this book also had a great deal of emotions from the characters that as the reader I could truly feel, such as; jealousy, love, passion and heartache, sadness, loneliness and sometimes the feeling of not belonging. You can also tell that one characters is also unhappy without realising it, as they are just settling for what would make others happy. I’ve laughed, smiled, been sad. This book had some great scenes between the two main characters and I loved reading their interactions with each other. Even if it was all in secret, you could tell that what these two characters had is real they have an undeniable connection that was passionate, sexy and heated, inside and outside the bedroom.
This book did have some scenes in which I was disappointed with a way a character reacted or their actions but they more than made up for them through this book.

This book also has some great secondary characters that I’d love to read about their story, and if they find love.
Another great thing with this book is that it was written in dual POV’s. I love reading it from the characters POV’s as we get to really see their thoughts and feeling from them rather than the other person. I also think it helps connect with a character as you get to understand some of their reasons of their actions!

Miranda wasn’t the greatest growing up. With a mother who is nowhere to be seen and a drunk father, Miranda never had rules to follow or punishment for her actions. When all Miranda wanted was attention and the only ones to give it to her were willing guys. But becoming a woman and changing her ways she tries many ways to redeem herself. Now working as Lone Star’s only reporter, people still continue to judge her for mistakes in her youth. People continually bad mouth her, and knowing that she rightly deserves what she is given she also knows that the past should be left in the past and give a person a chance to prove themselves, so the harsh comments and harsh stares makes her take everything with a pinch of salt and turn a blind eye. Miranda is fiercely independent, loves her job and wants nothing more than to prove herself, but what’s more is she wants to belong, belong in the town, belong to a family, and someone to love and to love her back and she knows the right guy is Ryan and she will do anything to show him that. She is strong, Stubborn, and has walls of steel that only one person can break down.

Ryan wants nothing more than to make sure the twins grow up somewhere safe, where they belong and where they can be happy. But with this deep-down Ryan had put his life on hold and is just stuck. Meeting Miranda and finally succumbing to the sizzling connection they have breaks down all his wall. She is the only person who can see him, the real him. He can see the real her, but reputation and the twins’ life matter more than being happy with Miranda, her history and past will cause more havoc than happiness for all involved. But as feelings grow stronger, Ryan knows Miranda past never bothered him, and he shouldn’t care what others will think as long as he is happy. He supports her, sticks up for her and can still continue to be the father figure the twins need, just with extra love. Ryan can be just as stubborn as Miranda if not more, but he is also caring, loving.

These two have an undeniable connection that is sizzling from the start. They may fight their feelings one more than the other but it doesn’t take long for them to realise together is where they belong.

This is a great story of love, second chances, family and new starts. This isn’t one to miss and I am looking forward to Book 2 Wild

Wet: A Small Town Romance (Love in Lone Star Book 1) by Ashley Bostock is the first book in her Love in Lone Star series. This story is about the good boy and bad girl relationship. I am use to the the good girl and bad boy stories but this one is the opposite, nice change. This story is full of hot sexy romance that maybe to much for some reads and okay for others but moving past that this really is a good sweet romance story. This is my first book for this author and I enjoyed her creativity of her characters, they were true to life. These types of characters make the best stories. They will take you on a journey of compassion, good, bad and maybe even some anger. Find out what happens to these two characters as their attraction for each other heats up but they just may find more then just attraction bonding them together.

Miranda Phillips is a woman who use to be wild and crazy when she was younger. Now that she is all grown up she is trying to get away from a reputation she made for herself. She may not have been the best growing up but now she is trying to be a different person. She is currently the only reporter in Lone Star but she is still fighting the judgment she gets. She is tough and doesn't allow anyone to get in the way of what she wants especially when it comes to him. What will happen when she corners him in a dark hallway, will she let him know just how attracted she is to him?

Ryan John is just trying to stay away from one thing that he can't see to get enough off. What will happen when he receives a mystery letter and now needs her help? Will this give him the excuse he needs to be with her? Will they get their one night? Is it all that wrong to be attracted to some one from the wrong side of the tracks? She is trouble for him and he can't afford any trouble right now. Will he be able to resist her?

Miranda and Ryan's relationship is one of attraction beyond attraction. They grew up on opposite sides of the tracks but does that make them wrong to be together? If he didn't need her help so much would he walk away from trouble? Being with her is just inviting trouble but at what point will it not matter anymore for them? These are two strong characters even though you will find yourself asking what were they thinking or even getting angry with some of their choices but it really doesn't take away from who they are. She is just so strong and knows what she wants. She is determined to get rid of her reputation that she just won't let anyone stop her. He is kind and responsible for the most part. He is not your alpha male but not every male in a book needs to play the alpha. He is sweet and has a lot of responsibility and needs to protect that. Despite their flaws, I think you will fall in love with these characters. Find out what happens with these two characters, will they cross the tracks? Will they give in to their attraction? Is it possible that they could have their HEA?

This is my first story by Ashley Bostock and I know it won't be the last. I can't wait to read book 2 in this series! Ashley grew up in Colorado and still lives there. When she is not writing, you can find her reading, traveling in a wanderlust's eyes, but to those who have not traveled so, she has traveled far. You will enjoy how she will keep you on the edge of your seat through most of this book. You will need to see what happens with these characters once they capture your attention. It starts a little slow, but it does pick up where you won't want to put this book down. I highly suggest this book as I know you will want to see what happens to these two, will they give in to their attraction?

Wet: A Small Town Romance is book 1 in Ashley Bostock’s Love In Lone Star series and can be read as a standalone.

Miranda Phillips made some wrong choices as a teenager and despite trying to turn her life around and becoming the town's successful reporter, people are still unable to forgive or forget. She has used men in the past for the attention she craves but all that changes after one brief and memorable moment with Ryan John. He leaves her wanting more and two months later she can't resist taking the opportunity to have another taste of the passion that explodes between them. Ryan then makes her an offer that will benefit them both and she's unable to say no.

“If he’s as good as everyone says, then he’d judge you on his own. Not take someone else’s word for it. Take my advice, Miranda, if he does that, he ain’t worth it.” - Phil, Miranda’s Friend

Ryan John’s life changed unexpectedly when his parents tragically died. He's now responsible for raising his younger twin siblings and running the family farm. He feels trapped but is determined to put his siblings first no matter what. He briefly gives into his own desires when Miranda Phillips literally throws herself at him one evening but he then walks away and continues to focus on his responsibilities. However, she re-enters his life two months later and he comes up with the perfect solution for them both; she helps him solve the mystery of who owns High Plains Corporation and is trying to buy his water rights and he'll give her one night with himself in return, so long as it stays between just them.

“Why do you care what anyone thinks? Aren’t you always,” she rolled her eyes, “always harping on me and Alex to be ourselves and do the things that make us happy even if it isn’t the most popular decision amongst our friends? What happened to the whole talk about peer pressure? Why aren’t you following the same advice you give to us?” - Brianna, Ryan’s Younger Sister

Wet had me hooked from the start and I couldn't put it down. I expected this to be the typical romance story of girl has bad reputation and guy helps change how everyone sees her whilst falling in love with her but Wet is so much more. There's suspense and drama thrown into the mix and Ashley Bostock gives the reader plot twists just when you think you've got it all figured out.

I really felt for Miranda who made mistakes when younger and was still paying for them. She didn't have the best of childhoods but had turned her life around and learnt from her past with the help of Golda McClanahan who was the owner of Lone Star’s paper before selling it. Golda was Miranda’s mentor and grandmother figure who gave her the loyalty and support she needed at that time.

Poor Ryan had also worked hard to achieve a life that didn't involve working on the farm but he gave everything up to raise his siblings and give them the stability he felt they needed. He literally put his life on hold so they could live theirs in safety and familiarity. He put so much pressure on himself and denied his own needs and wants. He became so wrapped in creating the perfect life for his siblings that he found himself judging Miranda just as everyone else did. I didn't hate him for this though because he didn't do it deliberately.

This is the first book I've read by Ashley Bostock and it won't be the last. I can't wait to read Wild, book 2, which we get a sneak peek of at the end of Wet. I recommend that you buy Wet as soon as possible!

Wet is the first book in the Love in Lone Star series by Ashley Bostock. It is a fantastic, steamy contemporary romance.
Miranda Phillips is twenty-eight years old and works for the local newspaper as the reporter/photographer. She loves her job and is really good at what she does. Unfortunately, she happens to live in a small town where the residents still remember her as the troubled juvenile delinquent of her youth. Having had very neglectful parents, her upbringing wasn’t the best and Miranda got herself into quite a lot of trouble over the years.
That was so long ago now, but the town’s folk haven’t forgotten or forgiven. Her reputation follows her. Even though she has changed so much and is nothing like she used to be, she is still treated like an outcast and only tolerated because she’s the only reporter in town. Miranda soldiers on and tries not to let the judgemental and narrow-minded people get to her. She is so passionate, determined and focused. When she attends a wedding reception in the town hall, Miranda notices Ryan Johns across the room watching her. She becomes consumed by him and starts fantasizing about him and what they could do together. She manages to corner him in the dark hallway, where they manage to set each other on fire. But he disappeared right after and has been avoiding her ever since. She wanted to believe he was different and would look past the stories and gossip, but it seems like he may be concerned about appearances and her reputation, after all.
Ryan Johns is thirty-one years old and a member of the town council. He inherited his parent’s farm when they died 6 years ago, along with becoming the guardian for his younger brother and sister. He works hard to keep the farm running, providing for his siblings, as well as his responsibilities as a council member. Being the youngest councilman- he has fought hard to win the respect, trust and approval of the townsfolk and he won’t jeopardise that for anyone, no matter how tempting they are. Anyway he is much too busy for a relationship. But there was something about her that intrigued him, but she made him lose control and he couldn’t afford that. He needed to stay away from her……Miranda was definitely off-limits,
But when he receives a suspicious letter in the mail, he needs help in tracking down the sender, so he asks Miranda for her help because he knows that she is a skilled investigator. He makes her a deal that she can’t refuse, one that will change both their lives- forever.
These two are like wildfire when they get together. The heat they generated was so intense; it set the pages of my kindle on fire.
The story is superb and I loved following Ryan and Miranda on their journey. The characters were really well developed, complex and endearing- which mad e the journey even more addictive.
The story is told from a duel POV; it has a great pace and flows smoothly. It was easy to read and I flew through it in one sitting.
I can’t wait to read more from this very talented author.

Thank you Ms. Bostock!

Wet: A Small Town Romance (Love in Lone Star Book 1)
By: Ashley Bostock
5 out of 5 stars

The story Wet: A Small Town Romance (Love in Lone Star Book 1) by Ashley Bostock is a contemporary romance book. This is the story of Miranda Phillips and Ryan John. Miranda has grown up an outcast in the town of Lone Star. She has a reputation that the town will not let her forget. She also has fallen hard for Ryan John a farmer and member of the city council. Ryan knows that he can’t fall for Miranda. He has his reputation and his younger brother and sister to protect. However, he can’t get her out of his mind so he proposes a deal. One night with him in exchange for her investigative skills into who is after his shares of water rights. What will Miranda find out about the mysterious company and their motives? Will one night be enough for both Miranda and Ryan or will it touch off a fire that is too hard to put out?

This is the first story that I have read by the author and can say that it won’t be the last. She has a wonderful way of weaving a story that keeps your interest all the way through and has written characters that you care about. This story does have some twists to it and I would find myself thinking that I knew what was going on and then something else would happen that would lead me down an entirely different path. This is also a story about small towns and the way that some people are treated. Everyone in this world makes mistakes and no one should have to go through what Miranda does. I found myself frustrated with the townspeople who have such closed minds. Miranda is a very strong and smart woman. She has to be in order to keep living in Lone Star. Miranda has a large heart which beats for one man, Ryan John. Will Miranda find herself in Ryan’s arms or will her status in the community stamp out any chance of a romance?

Ryan is a man that has a lot of responsibility. A farm, a spot on the city council, and his younger brother and sister to raise. He is very attracted to Miranda, however, her past and how the town sees her is all he can see. I knew that they both are crazy for each other from the beginning and was always rooting for them to get together. He also has a situation that he needs Miranda’s help with and soon finds himself spending more time with her. He begins to question choices that he has made in his life and starts to wonder about the future. Will Ryan find that he wants Miranda as part of his future? Will he find out who is trying to buy his stock of water rights? Is there more going on than meets the eye? Read this story to find out if Miranda and Ryan get their happy ending. This story does have adult situations which include some very steamy love scenes. It would be recommended for those 18 years of age and older. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Appearances aren’t always what they seem. Mistakes in the past can define a person. Or, if determined enough, they can set someone on the path they should have always been on. This is the situation Miranda finds herself in, trying to move forward, her past always holding her back, in Wet by Ashley Bostock.

“Maybe this woman was worth it.”

Miranda has lived in Lone Star all her life. She made mistakes in her past that have set most of the town against her. She is used to the stares, she is used to the hate, and she is used to people avoiding her. And although she is used to it, it doesn’t mean it hurts any less.
And yet she chooses to stay, to keep living her life trying to right all the wrongs she committed in her youth. If only people could see how hard she was trying, and could give her a second chance.

“Worth it to Ryan. To protect.”

Ryan has an image to uphold. Guardian of his two younger siblings he was worked hard to gain the respect of the town he lives in. And now that he has he will do anything he can to make sure it stays that way. And if he finds himself attracted to the one person who should be off limits? Well then he will ignore the attraction until it fades away.
Yet no matter how hard he tries Ryan cannot deny that he is drawn to the feisty Miranda. He sees how she is shunned by the town and would do anything to change it. But with two kids dependant on him his hands are tied.

When they are forced to work together to unearth a mystery surrounding the town and its water rights both Miranda and Ryan find it hard to deny their attraction for each other. Giving in, just once, seems like the best way to get it out of their system once and for all. But when once isn’t enough they are forced to admit that maybe they are just meant to find a way to make things work.

This as a great novel about first impressions and second chances. While everyone makes a first impression that can be hard to change, everyone also deserves a second chance to show people they can be different. Whether that is how they’ve grown or what they are trying to become, everyone deserves the belief from another that they can do what they set out to. I enjoyed this from start to finish. The heroine was confident and sassy, determined not to let anything get her down. And the hero is everything you could want in a book boyfriend, caring, protective and downright sexy. A very good read, I’m looking forward to the next.

Wet- Ashley Bostock

4 out of 5 Stars

Wet by Ashley Bostock is book 1 in her Love in Lone Star series. It’s a well-written story told with lots of detail. The connection between the main characters is palpable and the story is filled with many of their hot and steamy moments. Wet is told in both in Miranda and Ryan’s POV, which I really appreciated because it gave me a better insight into who they were and explained why they made the decisions they did.

Miranda Phillips has always been judged by the mistakes of her past, even as an adult she still can’t seem to change people’s opinions. Miranda lives in the small town of Lone Star, where everyone knows everything and nobody forgets anything. She’s always been attracted to bad boys, mostly because there the only one’s who gave her the time of day, but she’s always had a thing for Ryan. He’s nothing like she’s normally used too; he’s almost the exact opposite, which makes her want him even more. Ryan has always found her attractive but she’s also untouchable. He had to grow up quickly after the death of his parents, needing to take care of his younger siblings and running the farm. He’s never had time for relationships and he definitely can’t start now with Miranda. He’s worked hard to build trust and respect with other members of the community and he can’t risk them being disappointed. But will his heart win out or will he continue to let other people’s opinions run his life?

Wet is a story where values come into question, pasts come back to haunt them and trust is broken but it’s also a story about learning that our pasts don’t define us. I had a hard time getting into this book for the first little while, as I really didn’t like Ryan and his need to uphold his reputation. I really wasn’t a fan of him and his attitude so I was so surprised when he started to grow on me. Reading from his POV really helped get a better understanding of him. Miranda was really relatable, we all know someone like her and who deals with her struggles so it was great being able to read form her POV. I found her to be frustrating at times but then, like Ryan, she grew on me. I look forward to reading Wild, book two in the series.

Wet: Love in Lone Star written by Ashley Bostock
4 stars

This is my first Ashley Bostock read. It's set in a small town where everyone knows your business and holds you accountable for your past. They don't see you for the person you have become years later because they feed into the rumor mills.

“I’m angry because I wanted him to want me with the fierceness that I wanted him. I wanted him to want me enough.”

You feel how hard Miranda is trying to get people to see her for who she is today...not by her actions and mistakes from the past. She tries to act like it doesn't bother her, but you can only take so much of being verbally beaten down. It especially hurts when someone you care for treats you with such a lack of respect or kindness.

“Lone Star was a small town and when you behaved as badly as I had during my younger years, it tends to burn a lot of bridges. Even when you’re older.”

Ryan tried to be an example of loyalty, kindness and honesty to his younger brother and sister. He sacrificed what he wanted to raise them in the surroundings they knew and were comfortable with. He didn't want to take them away from their childhood memories even if he had to sacrifice what he wanted.

Ryan seems like such a great guy to everyone, but when it comes to Miranda he doesn't treat her with kindness and respect. I wanted Miranda to have a stronger backbone and put him in his place. It frustrated me how she allowed him to treat her. She's smart, independent and kind yet she's yearning for love, friendship and affection. You know Ryan can give her these things, but he's too worried about how the townspeople will judge him for being seen around town with Miranda.

“I didn’t say you were or weren’t good enough for me, what I said is this isn’t happening again. Ever.”

Wet by Ashley Bostock

Wet is Book #1 in the Love in Lone Star Series by Ashley Bostock. This contemporary romance set in the small town of Lone Star is a lovely 4 star book. Miranda Phillips is a local town reporter who is known for her wilder younger days and can't seem to get the townspeople to move past her old reputation. She wreaked havoc on the townsfolk as a teen with pranks and looked for any attention she could get from any guy that would give it to her. She's grown up since then and is determined to get what she wants out of life.

Ryan John is the responsible one that has taken over running the family farm and caring for his teenage twin siblings after the death of his parents. He's convinced that he has to do what's right for his family, even if that means putting aside his own desires. There's an obvious connection drawing Miranda and Ryan to each other, but Ryan can't take the chance of a woman clouding his mind or risking the life he has worked hard to build for himself and his siblings.

When Ryan asks for help learning more about a Corporation that's suddenly showing interest in his water rights, he decides to kill 2 birds with one stone by reaching out to Miranda for help digging for information using her news reporting skills and also take the opportunity to act on the attraction between the two of them.

The story was both steamy and romantic, with a bit of mystery and small town drama mixed in. The writing was good and characters were developed nicely. I found myself skimming in some areas and also found some of the sex scenes to be a bit overdone when it wasn't needed, but the story had a lot of passion that sucked me in. I started the story and found myself unable to put it down. After reading the entire novel in one afternoon, I definitely am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Wet is the first book in the Love in Lone Star series written by Ashley Bostock. This is a compelling read that will see you with a smile on your face and laughing at times when you least expect it. It will have you feeling for the main character Miranda and find you wanting to slap some sense into people for their actions. I love stories that are written in the characters point of view, I find it adds depth and feeling to the characters and this one doesn’t disappoint.

Miranda Phillips is a lonely young woman who has a shitty past, a past she is trying hard to put behind her. She knows she was stupid and did some things she would rather not think about but living in a small town where people are not willing to forgive and forget makes it hard to move on. People with prejudice will always bring you down. Will Miranda ever be able to prove she is more than her past? Will people finally let go of the past? Will she lose out on love just because of those prejudices?

Ryan John is finally finding his way in the small town in which he lives. He knows what people can be like and is not willing to do anything that will put his standing in jeopardy, nothing that will cause his family any harm. But could he be making the biggest mistake of his life? Could he be letting his one chance at happiness, real happiness pass him by? Is he really as judgemental as those around him? Will it take someone close to him to point out that you should practice what you preach? Will he be able to see the other side of the story before it is too late? Is he really about to lose it all just because people are unwilling to see what is before their eyes? Will he finally see those for what they really are? Will he expose those who are hell bent on destroying all he has?

This story is all about second chances. It is a story of letting go of the past and stepping into the future.

Wet: A Small Town Romance (Love in Lone Star #1)
By Ashley Bostock

As soon as I read the blurb for this book I was intrigued. It sounded just like the kind of book I was looking for. A feisty female lead along with a sexy small town guy and I wasn’t disappointed! This is the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed her characters and storyline. The story flowed well, the characters were likeable (for the most part) and my interest was held throughout the book.
I really liked Miranda! Although I’m not sure the extent of her troublesome childhood ways warranted the way people in the town spoke about her (I wonder if it’s more to the do with living in the ‘small town’ bubble than what she did). I actually really admired Miranda in a way. She worked hard to get to where she was especially when nobody thought very highly of her. She rose above their comments and attitude to become the best reporter that she could be. We are not far into the story where the first scene between Miranda and Ryan takes place – and my gosh is it a hot one!! In fact all of the times they are together are hot!
I liked Ryan, I really did – obviously thrust into a life he didn’t plan for himself but still I found times when I would get frustrated with him – especially when it came to Miranda! It was pretty clear he liked her but he pushed her away so many times and always with the same excuse even I was getting a little annoyed with him! My opinion of him changed so many times over the story!
There was nice little mystery theme running throughout the story that is exposed right at the very end – the author did a good job of keeping it concealed until that point!
There were some good secondary characters too and I look forward to reading about them in the rest of the series. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this author!

Title:Wet
Author:Ashley Bostock
Series: Love in Lone Star #1

Wet was a great 5 star read.

We start with Miranda at a wedding reception making eyes at Ryan who she has always known as the “good guy”. Being the bad girl that she is she takes things into her own hands and literally falls into his arms, where they end up having a very hot moment. For being a good guy, he sure knew how to be bad. When it was over Ryan pretty much tells her it will “never” happen again. He doesn’t know Miranda very well.

We jump ahead two months. Miranda is the reporter for the local paper and she hasn’t been able to get Ryan off her mind. When she sees him at a city council meeting the night comes rushing back to her. Why did he affect me so? I have to say I had a lol moment with the questions she asked Ryan at the meeting.

Ryan had his reasons for needing to stay away from Ryan. When she was around his responsibility went out the window, he needs to stay focused. He has worked too hard to gain everyone’s respect, Miranda could change all that for him.

When Ryan gets an offer from a corporation to buy his water rights. He makes a deal with Miranda, if she can help find why they sent the offer he will give her what she’s been craving. Miranda is punch drunk with what Ryan has just offered her, can she be successful in finding what he wants so she can get what she wants? Can it turn into more?

I really enjoyed this read, you have the good guy and the bad girl. You get hot and steamy, mystery, dare I say love and so much more with the first book in the Love in Lone Star series. My heart went out to Ryan trying to do everything that he was by himself. And Miranda was trying to move past her past and being with Ryan was her chance. I look forward to reading more from this series and Ashley Bostock. Great start to the series.

I really liked reading this story. The sex was really good. The story line was good. Ashley Bostock has written a story with an easy and natural flow. The characters are likeable and even relatable. Especially Miranda. Miranda could be me minus her crazy sex life.

“I was a full-grown woman who no longer created a mess everywhere I went. But no one ever cared
about that…”

Or this

“I knew I needed to be more confident but trust me, some days it was difficult. I walked around confident, pretending nothing ever bothered me because I had to. I couldn’t allow people to think their awfulness hurt me. If I did that, they would continue to keep me down.”

Miranda is a journalist in her small hometown. Living on the “wrong” side of town, even though as a kid where she chose to live was not under her control. However, her actions, mostly her delinquent actions, caused her to have a reputation as a trouble maker. Her love of sex caused that reputation to follow her into adulthood. She would love nothing more than to show the town how grown up she really was trying to be. She would also really love to climb Ryan John like she was a monkey and he was a tree. Her dreams of being in love and being loved are not that far off…if she could just find someone to overlook her reputation. Ryan John has a farm and a younger sister and brother he needs to take care of. But there is something about Miranda that calls to him. However, she’s also a risk he cannot take.

Sometimes, while reading this story I really felt for Miranda. Everyone makes mistakes and no one wants to be remembered for those mistakes. Growing up and moving on is hard to do, in real life and sometimes even in a book.

I recommend this book because sometimes your heart wants what your heart wants, no matter what other people think.

Wet

When Miranda was a young girl growing up in the small town of Lone Star she caused havoc not caring who she hurt in the long run, unfortunately for her the people living here have great memories and haven't let anything be forgotten in the years since. Now the lead journalist for the local paper in her early 30s. She keeps herself locked away from everyone but one resident of Lone Star gets her heart racing and her panties wet but will he want her and would it be for more than quick hookup.

Ryan John is a farmer in Lone Star after his parents died a few years ago her took on sole responsibility of his teenage siblings and the family farm and vowed to make his parents proud and bring his brother and sister up to be good people like they would have wanted. The Only downside is that means Ryan putting the life he wants on hold. An active member of the city council he is respected by the townsfolk and doesn't want to do anything that would put that in jeopardy. Ryan knows Miranda is hot and after a quick hookup with her at a wedding his desire for her just increases, but making a move will hinder his and the kids future won't it??

When two people have never had a chance in life to find there own way without judgement or opinion things get rough but once they realise the only people in this world they have to make happy is themselves they will eventually find true happiness and love!

This is the first book I've read by the amazing Ashley Bostock and loved how it was written from both POV the author brought two amazing characters too life and threw in a bit of suspense to keep us all hooked. This book was fantastically written and look forward to reading more from this author and their fab series of Lone Star stories.

Wet: A Small Town Romance (Love in Lone Star Book 1) by Ashley Bostock is the first in her new series that I gave 4 out of 5 stars. This is a sweet contemporary romance novel written in alternating first person POVs by the two main characters: Miranda and Ryan.

Miranda is not well loved by the residents of her small town. Growing up with need for attention since her parents ignored, she sought ANY attention she could get whether good or bad. Fast and reckless could best describe her youth. Now she wants to be taken seriously as the town’s only reporter, and she’s worked hard to change her ways. She doesn’t let the people’s judgment get to her, until it interferes with the oh-so-hot Ryan (local farmer and unit council member).

The attraction is mutual for Ryan, but he can’t get past HER past or how the town perceives her now. He has too many responsibilities between work and raising his younger siblings to take the chance on such a wild card. But she has skills he’s in need of, so he makes a deal. The deal is just this-an exchange of a night together for her investigative abilities. But what will Miranda uncover? Will he be able to deny her afterwards, or will he be too obsessed with her touch to let her go?

This was a sweet story with some serious heat as well. Miranda and Ryan have great chemistry throughout the book, and there was a lot of push/pull. While I like a small town setting, the provincial townspeople aggravated me. It was very one-dimensional with their strong dislike of Miranda despite her overcoming the “bad girl past”. Also, the way Ryan disliked the residents of the town judging Miranda-only to judge her himself? But overall, it was a hot enjoyable read!

PEOPLE GROW UP AND CHANGE!
Wet: A Small Town Romance is the first book in the Love in Lone Star Series. It starts out with how it is to live in a small town where everybody knows everybody and all their business.
Miranda Phillips grew up as the bad girl in town. Problem was it was true. Her parents didn’t care where she went, who she was with and what they were doing. She fell for any boy that would show interest in her and it didn’t matter to Miranda if they were using her for her body or not. Miranda formed herself a reputation of being a juvenile delinquent and it was true. The townspeople knew exactly who and what she was. When you come from a small town, even after you grow up things don’t change especially peoples minds. Miranda is now the only reporter for the town and people still talk about her like she is trash. As I was reading I found myself getting upset at the towns people that didn’t want to give her a chance and only wanted to judge her for her past. Especially one man.
Ryan John is a farmer and sits on the city council. Since the tragedy he has a responsibility of raising his siblings. Ryan knows Miranda’s reputation after all he was raised by respectable parents and always had a good reputation. Ryan keeps asking himself why he is so attracted to Miranda? She is trouble and he knows it, but the attraction they feel for each other can’t be denied. Can Miranda help Ryan with a situation that only a good reporter can get the dirt on? Will what they feel for each other grow into a relationship?
This is my first book by Ashley Bostock but it won’t be my last. There are twist and turns in this book you won’t see coming. Her writing is very good and her story telling is great.

Wet: A Small Town Romance is the first book in Love in Lone Star series by Ashley Bostock. This is a contemporary romance told in two persons POV. As this was the first book that I have read of Ashley, I went in with an open mind. And I was not disappointed; this book was sexy and dirty with a twist.
Miranda Phillips was the girl with the bad reputation all through her younger years. Now that she is an adult and the only reporter in her hometown of Lone Star, her bad reputation still follows her because of the non-forgetting small town, even though she has grown up and changed.
Ryan John has always been a good guy that every girl wanted to be with and even as an adult he is still the same guy. Well, except now he is raising his younger twin 13-year-old siblings and is putting them first. He just wants to make sure that they are happy and safe, even if that means putting his love life on the back burner.
After a passion filled fling with Miranda at a wedding, Ryan can't get Miranda off of his mind. So when he gets a mysterious letter about wanting to buy his water rights, he can’t think of anyone else but Miranda to help see what it is all about. But almost every time they run into each other or plan to meet up, their attraction takes over for both of them. Is this relationship something Ryan is ready to pursue? Can Miranda find out what going on with the water rights?
Usually, before I read a book from a new author I like to read a few reviews. One of the big complaints I saw was that people thought this book had too much sex. WHAT! People are crazy; I loved that about a book. This was a great 4-star read and I can’t wait to read the next book about Thatcher and Abigail.

Wet: A Small Town Romance ( Love In Lone Star Book 1)
By Ashley Bostock
⅘ Stars

Wet is the first book in the Love In the Lone Star Book Series by Ashley Bostock. It's not your everyday love story. It's about a woman stopping at nothing, to get what she wants. And what she wants ,is a certain hot and sexy man.
This is my first time reading a book by Ashley , but it definitely won't be my last ether. This is a fantastic book, with deep characters. Who are flawed in ways, just like everyone else.
Miranda Phillips doesn't have the greatest reputation in town. Growing up with parents, who always put her as an afterthought. They were really neglectful with her well being. Which has caused her a lot of pain and tears throughout her young life.
She always sought out love and attention from various men around town. Even now… years later. She still has that horrible reputation. But she's grown up and changed a lot. She is Lone Star’s only reporter in town. She isn't that lonely and lost young girl, she once was.
But Miranda has her sights set on someone, she will stop at nothing to get what she wants. And what she wants is…Ryan John.
Ryan tries to avoid her for a couple months. But he can't seem to get her out of his system. He instills the help of Miranda to uncover who sent him the mysterious letter. The letter is offering to buy his thousand shares of water rights, that have been in his family for over a hundred years.
He wants her for one night and one night only , for her investigation skills. But will Miranda have other plans with him? Will she finally be able to win him over?
Amazing job, Ashley! I'm looking forward to reading the second book in the series!!

This is the first book in the Love in Lone Star series by this author. Wet is most certainly that; the hotter than hot, steamy, melt you down sex scenes are explained all in the title. But this book has more to offer you than fabulous sexy time.
This story brings you Miranda Phillips has done a lot in her younger years, coming from a neglectful home and unfortunately in a small town like Lone Star, people are not so forgiving or forgetful about such things. Miranda is tolerated by most town folk but still spoken about in hushed tones and shunned in most instances. She may have turned her life around and has a respectable job for a town reporter but the towns people just can’t seem to let things go and continue to judge.
At a wedding that Miranda is at, she sets her sights of Ryan John. A gorgeous single respectable guy in Lone Star and she wants him bad and goes out of her way to corner him that night. What happens that night does not go exactly according to plan for her.
Even after two months of trying to avoid her, Ryan can’t seem to stop thinking about her. But can he even think of being around her when he has young siblings to take care over, a farm to run and still be the towns respectable council member? When he gets a rather shady letter in the mail about some Company wanting to buy up his thousands of shares in water rights, he knows who he can ask to help him dig up the dirt in Lone Star.
Can these two finally get together without the prejudice of others getting in the way? Can they let the pasts go? And what is really behind this company that seems to be buying up all these water rights?
I give this book 4 stars. It was a fun novel with some mystery and intrigue in there to figure out. I look forward to the next book.

Miranda Phillips, the girl everyone in town talks about and constantly looking down on. Miranda was neglected as a child so she turned into a juvenile delinquent. Unfortunately the people from her small town are not so forgiving. She is a grown adult now and her town’s only reporter. She has become a respectable adult; coming a long way from the being the lost troubled girl. People are still judging her but that does not stop her from going after what or who she wants. This including Ryan John, city council member.

Ryan has his own craziness in life and he is worried about keeping up his family's good name. He looks at Miranda and knows that she is beautiful but this town still talks about her. He feels that if he associates himself with her it might rock his position with the city council. Ryan is raising his twin brother and sister after their parents were killed in a car crash; and he also feels like Miranda will cause a lot of trouble for all of their lives.

This was a quick fun read and I like how it was told from Miranda and Ryan’s POV. I felt bad for Miranda because she really had no one left in her life that she could lean on for support. Ryan was the hero but I have to admit that I was a little disappointed in the fact that he was a little all over the place. He wanted Miranda yet he did not, he pulled her in, then pushed her away. As if she did not have enough problems in her life. When Ryan needs her for her super stealthy skills, she may just have the chance with him that she has wanted for a few years now. As their project proceeds Ryan sees a side of Miranda that has him wanting to know more of her.

Wet was the first book I've read by Ashley Bostock. I thought the book was pretty good. I liked the characters but, oddly enough, I thought the book was to long but, I guess it needed to be with the twist.

Ryan John is a respectable man who has stepped up to care for his much younger twin siblings when their parents died unexpectedly. He also runs the family farm and is an important member of the city council.

Miranda Phillips was such a bad kid growing up. You name it, she did it. She had such a horrible reputation and everyone in Lone Star still thinks of her as the troublesome young girl stealing, damaging property and sleeping her way through the boys who showed her any attention.

Since those days, she has matured a lot and has changed her ways. She is currently writing for the town paper.

One night Ryan and Miranda are at the same wedding and they might have messed around a bit in a back office but Ryan was clear when he told her it would be a one time thing.

Months later, Miranda can't forget that night and neither can Ryan. However, Ryan refuses to give himself a shot with Miranda because everyone in town pretty much hates her and he cannot be associated with someone like her.

When Ryan gets letters from a secret company wanting to buy his water shares his dad had left him. He reaches out to Miranda for help since she has the resources needed to figure it out.

That's when everything goes haywire. Secrets are exposed and families can be torn apart. Will Miranda and Ryan finally be able to give in to their desires in public or will she just be his dirty little secret.

Wet by Ashley Bostock, is a contemporary romance novel and the first book in the Love in Lone Star series. It is the first book by this author that I’ve read and I will definitely be back for more! The book follows the relationship between Miranda and Ryan, two people desperate to be with each other while struggle to move past the prejudices of the small town in which they live in. This book should come with a warning label: CAUTION HOT CONTENTS!! If you like your romances with a sprinkle, shoot more like a whole lot of heat, then this one is definitely for you!

Growing up, Miranda Phillips has had to deal with being her hometown’s gossip, the talk of the town; and not the good talk. Growing up with neglectful parents, engaging in some negative activities and seeking attention from all the wrong kinds of men, have all left her with an undesirable reputation. She’s a BIG no, no! Now that she’s an adult, she’s Lone Star’s only reporter and photographer she is no longer the troubled girl she once was. All this despite the whole town still believing she is. She knows what she wants from life, and that comes in the form of a man, Ryan John. She knows he wants her too. Ryan has been successfully avoiding Miranda since their little encounter two months ago. But that doesn’t stop him from thinking about her. No matter what he does, she’s on his mind.
What I loved about this story was that two people, who desperately want each other make a deal: one night together in exchange for Miranda’s investigative skills into Ryan’s letter. The only problem is will one night enough?

Five Stars

Wet: A Small Town Romance is the first book in the Love in Lone Star Series by Ashley Bostock. This is the first book I have read by this author and I can't wait to get my hands on the second book in the series. I love the way Ms. Bostock brings her characters to life. This was a spice hot romance with a little mystery and suspense thrown in. I was so engrossed that I read the whole book in one sitting.

Miranda Phillips was the bad girl in town. She had reputation of juvenile delinquent from when she was a teenage and no one in town was going to let her forget it, even though she had matured and was a respectable citizen. Her job as a reporter let her into event but she was often ignored. Even though she is judged at every turn she go after the things she wants. Right now she wants Ryan John.

Ryan John is a city councilman and runs the farm his parents left him and he also got custody of his twin brother and sister, when their parents died in an accident. He never wanted to be a farmer, went to school for accounting, but feels t is his responsibility to raise his siblings in a respectful manner.

When Miranda catches Ryan off guard in a hallway at a wedding, they both feel the irresistible attraction between them. One thing leads to another, and Ryan tells Miranda that he can't be seen with her because of her reputation. After the first encounter he ignores her for two month, but he just can't get her off of his mind.

You must read this book to find out if these two can put her past behind them and solve the mystery blowing through their small town.

Wet: A Small Town Romance is the first Love in Lone Star book by Ashley Bostock.
Miranda is the town reporter, a girl from the “wrong side of the tracks” who is carrying round the bad reputation from two decades earlier. Ryan John is a respected city council member trying to hold down his job on the family farm while looking after his younger siblings following the death of their parents. Miranda has always admired Ryan from afar and a blistering encounter at a friend’s wedding sets off a mutual attraction that neither can resist, no matter how hard they try.
Initially Ryan resists the attraction, worried by the damage being with Miranda could do to his reputation but he needs her investigating skills to help solve a mystery. Giving in to his feelings, he starts to spend more time with Miranda but blows hot and cold until his little sister puts him straight and makes him rethink things.

“Why do you care what anyone thinks? Aren’t you always,” she rolled her eyes, “always harping on me and Alex to be ourselves and do the things that make us happy even if it isn’t the most popular decision amongst our friends? What happened to the whole talk about peer pressure? Why aren’t you following the same advice you give to us?” - Brianna, Ryan’s teenage sister.
This book has everything you need to keep you warm in the winter or help you escape by the pool in the summer. Hot and steamy love scenes; and there are a lot of them!; a strong feisty leading lady and a sexy sensitive leading man. I really enjoyed this book. A passionate and entertaining read which is definitely for adults only.

Wet is the first book in the Love in Lone Star Series by Ashley Bostock. The story is about Miranda, the town reporter, who has had a reputation since she was a teenager. She is the town pariah for all intents and purposes due to her troubled youth, but she is drawn to the town good guy, Ryan. Ryan is attracted to Miranda and has been for years but he stays away from her since he has his two younger siblings to raise and doesn’t want them tainted by something he has done, namely Miranda.
This was my first book by Ashley Bostock and I can’t wait to read the other books in this series. While a romance novel it touched on some other issues. Miranda’s early childhood, for one, showed another type of child abuse, neglect, she was a young girl heading toward womanhood and didn’t get the guidance she needed from her home life which led her to find someone, anyone who would show her a little love which in turn led her to make bad choices. I felt for her through the book, she had it rough and now years later the people of the town loved throwing her younger years in her face without even trying to get to know her. Even Ryan, who was supposed to have feelings for her, treated her like a pariah because of what she was like at 18. Miranda is a very strong character whom I found myself routing for from the beginning until the last line.
Aside from the romance there was also a little mystery written in that kept my attention as well as kept me guessing. This was, all around, a very good book and I am looking forward to reading more about the residents and the little town of Lone Star.

Wet by Ashley Bostock is book one of the Love in Lone Star series. This is the first book I've read by this author but I was not disappointed. This book had everything. There was suspense and romance.

Miranda Phillips has never been in the towns good graces. She doesn't expect that to change anytime soon. However, she really wants to be in Ryan’s good graces and she is determined to do just that. She even goes as far as to agree to help him research some information in exchange for just one night. If she can get him to agree to more than one night that is just icing on the cake.

Ryan John has had to take on a world of responsibilities that he didn't really want after the death of his parents. For that reason, he has worked had to gain a respectable image in Lone Star. While he doesn't judge Miranda for her past, he doesn't want to lose the image he's created with his peers.

Miranda and Ryan work closely trying to figure out the mystery of who is contacting Ryan. Ryan still can't bring himself to tell Miranda exactly how he feels and Miranda is losing her patience. She doesn't want to be a secret forever. Will Ryan be able to stop caring about what the people in town think of him? Will Miranda be able to walk away from Ryan if he can't?

This story was wonderful! Ryan’s character seemed like a very shallow person and I wasn't really sold on why Miranda was so sure she wanted to be with him. Throughout the story, he grew. He realized the error of his ways. He owned up and took responsibility for his actions. By the end of the book, I was sold. I'm so glad I read this book!
