When bored housewife Joni Harrison unexpectedly inherits ‘Lakeside,’ she not only inherits the old house but the terrifying energies within. Now, with paranormal events escalating against her whole family, Joni must get rid of the entity before it destroys them.
It seems to be my week to read really bad books.Out of 3 this one was not the worse but sure was not good either.I found myself skipping pages just to get through it.The mother's reaction to what was going on did not ring true,or the little girl who came across more mature than anyone her age would be in this situation. All in all since I got it for free with my prime membership and since I did find at least the editing well done so I gave it a 3 star.
This was a decent read, but I put it down several times because there were a lot of sections that dragged. It was hard to connect with the characters because they were one-dimensional. I really did not like Joni or Tate because there was no substance in either of them. Adrian, the oldest son, was my favorite character and Ahmik has some serious character potential. This is the second book I've read by this author and I plan to read more. I just wish the characters were more likeable.
I bought this book after reading a free one by this author on Book Bub. I had to turn on the light to finish it! And not much scares me. I'm an elementAry school teacher. LOL
The story is overall well written, but I would have liked a more detailed explanation of the phenomenon. The happy ending seems too ordinary. A good read for a stormy evening.
The family is a strong unit in this story. A great many things can be overcome by sticking together and holding each other up. A stong message that carries this story from beginning to end.
James Matheson is a amazing story Teller " every page keeps you from putting the book down ! I just found him 3 months ago and I already read 7 books . He's like a romance novelist of ghosts 👻. I want More ! Keep on writing James !
I liked this book. I found that it to be a fast read but it was written well and the characters felt real to me, at least the children's characters did. I like things that go bump in the night, so this type of story appealed to me. It wasn't any blood, guts or gore and that isn't always necessary for a haunted house type book.
I found this book entertaining and well written . It was bit as scary as I a anticipated but it was still a good read, with enough intrigue to keep me turning the pages.
This is the second book I read from this author about haunted houses. It's a good read, a solid story, and has decent character development, but it doesn't go much further than that. On a positive note, I really got to know and care about the characters. The "bad guy" in the story, in this case a mischievous poltergeist that may be more than mischievous, was weak and uninteresting. The battle between it and the family, albeit heroic, was over all too soon. This read like a short story with a long lead in. I read it in one day - on breaks at work.
After reading both books from this author, I found that he holds little respect for Christians or the Christian faith. Although he doesn't come right out and say so, or even drone on and on about his opinions on the subject, he does make it clear. This book even goes so far to make a pastor look like a selfish snob. Not the quality of author I want to support from here on out.
