It’s the holiday season and vampire Glory St. Clair finally sets a wedding date. But will a hit ordered on a dear friend ruin Glory’s chance for an eternity of wedded bliss? Find out in Real Vampires Take a Bite out of Christmas, a novella featuring the gang from the best-selling Real Vampires series by Gerry Bartlett.
Gerry Bartlett figures that vampires are pretty much like everyone else except for the liquid diet.
Eternity or Mexican food? Tough call.
Gerry’s a native Texan and lives halfway between Houston and Galveston. Pictured with her is her late wonder dog, a Bedlington Terrier named Belle.
When she started writing, she was still teaching and used the pseudonym Lynn McKay. You can probably still find her historical and two romantic suspense books for a penny on-line. Now that she’s no longer in the classroom and discovered the fun of writing about vampires, she uses her real name. Too bad some people think Gerry is a boy's name or short for Geraldine. No, it's not. Really.
She's still writing her Real Vampires series but is back to romantic suspense and contemporaries. Her Texas Heat series starts in Houston, her home town. Then there's her Lone Star Suspense series set in Austin where she went to the University of Texas. She loves the hill country there and brought some of her favorite characters from the Texas Heat series to Austin for the fast-paced suspense in the three books in that series.
You can check out Gerry’s website at gerrybartlett.com to find her blog and articles for writers. Her Perils of Publishing gives the scoop on what happens once "the call" comes. Oh, did you think it would be all roses and champagne? Well, of course it is.
When Gerry's not writing, she's treasure hunting for her antiques business in Alvin. Her favorite finds? Vintage purses and jewelry. It's a struggle not to keep it all. Be sure to sign up for her newsletter for the latest info about her books at http://ymlp.com/xgeyeewwgmgw
Nice little novelette. It takes place between Halloween and Christmas Eve. The two intertwined storylines are. 1)Flo helping Glory plan her wedding with Jerry in only a month. 2)Flo avoiding an assassination hit put out on her. It sounds like this is about Flo, but it isn’t. Just Glory trying to help everyone else instead of herself again. Then Damian’s Winter Solstice ball thrown into the middle of it all.
Glory is so confused with wedding jitters and worried about Flo’s death threat, that she lets everyone else handle her whole wedding for her. Flo even does all her wedding present registering for her. Jerry has to do all the decisions on how to design their new apartment
The new apartment turns out fabulous. I’d live to live there. I’m glad Glory finally took notice and put her mark on it. Even if she was busy and not in the mood, she could have asked CiCi step in before. Learn how to delegate, girl!
And thought the ending is sweet, it stops at a point you don’t’ want it to and due to an interesting visit from ‘Mommy Dearest’ we know what problems will happen in the next book. I was wishing the two of them could get a break and be able to take the next step in their lives without a crisis. After that, they can handle problems together as a team.
Quick thoughts: 1)I hope the new character, Miguel works out. Could bring in some interesting possibilities. Can’t wait to find out how he’s connected to Glory. I have a suspicion.
2)I’d been curious where the two would decide to live. After all, Jerry has a great place, but he was renting, so the larger apartment works great.
Fave scenes: Richard, Jerry and Damien confronting the Maurys at the ball, Glory’s meltdown surrounded by the pile of shower presents and Jerry showing Glory the newly redecorated apartment.
Glory has finally agreed to tie the knot with Jeremiah, despite still having occasional cold feet. In the midst of planning the wedding with best friend and matron of honor Flo, an assassination hit is put out on Flo that culminates in a showdown at the Winter Solstice Costume Ball. This novella has it all…love, sex, humor and action. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I think I see mother/mother-in-law problems in the happy couple’s future.
Ehh, just ok with this one. For as much as Glory and Jerry have gone back and forth, it seems odd to me that she has cold feet about getting married and just was freaked her out. With Glory's mom popping in at the end and learning about the wedding it will be interesting to see what havoc she will reek.
This is a novella. But just because it is small doesn't mean it doesn't pack a good punch! Another knock out the park in this series! I can not wait for the next one in the series! After ten full size novels and a novella the series is getting neither stale nor boring!
I absolutely love this series!! Thank you Gerry, you always seems to keep this series interesting and lovable. I was a little disappointed because I thought there was going to be a wedding and now I will have to wait for the next book. Write faster Gerry! :)
Glory to Glory!! A perfect prequel to the wedding of the century.. A quick read with
All the excitement served in so many ways. Gerry Bartlett doesn't write anything a bad book. I just can't stop reading. Glory and her squad are like my best buds!!
Loved this novella! Glory is getting ready to marry her love. Flo got herself into trouble. Add to that a hit man and her crazy mother and you have a recipe for a great story!!
Just when I thought that I couldn't read another tale of Gloriana and her man-waffling, this book was pleasantly nice. Deal with Mom, get married and wrap it up.
