I listened to the audio book and found some of the observations of the author to be a bit offensive, however it is understandable given the time this was written in.

Overall the stories were interesting and all of course had a moral.

Ayrıca betikte bazı Türk mitolojisi izlerini his ettim.

I really enjoyed the few stories I read from this collection. I love how I have never heard any of these stories before and can use this as a reference when I am a teacher to tell my class about stories they probably have never heard before. The story that stood out to me the most from the ones I read was the very first one, “The Storyteller Himself.” The storyteller was brought to life due to the illustration and profound imagery produced by the excerpt. The story also gives the reader an idea of who the narrator is, which makes the rest of the stories that much more fun. Overall, the collection is a great read!

Using this book to read to a fourth grade class, was a little worrisome. Filled with folktales that have such a deep truth and rawness to them, makes an interesting discussion with children about what folktales they are used to and exposed to normally in schools. Although dark and violent at times, it brings forward controversies or lessons to be learned that could would not necessarily be as important in the culture lived in today, however has them reflect on why it would be important in a different life or circumstances. As a favorite, I recommend this collection of fairy tales to challenge the minds of younger children without being censored or translated lightly. Just as it is.
