Skin Shifter, Rhett Jones, is the new shifter cop in Colwood, Montana. His first day on the job has him going toe to paw with a truly dominant grizzly bear shifter and the beautiful girl who is desperately trying to keep the fierce animal under control. He thought the bear was tough but she was nothing compared to the feisty girl hiding inside.
Bear shifter, Joan Heller, is just trying to find a new home but her out of control grizzly bear is ruining everything once again. She's one phase away from being kicked out of town until she meets up with the sexy cop with the entourage of ravens who offers his help and his home to her.
Things get wild when the Wilde Crew get thrown into the mix and threaten to make the unstable situation explode. Will the new boys in town be the new family that Rhett and Joan need? Or will they be the detonator that blows everything to pieces?
A hot, new paranormal romance writer who loves Werebears and the tough, BBW that can handle them.
Her latest series is Smokejumpers: Werebear (Bear Shifters of Flathead Forest) a cast of fun, lovable and sexy smokejumping shifters. Each book focuses on a different member of the crew and the women that they fall for.
Why even make Gunner fall in love if you weren’t going to do anything about it? You could have: A- Make him seem pervy and become the villain or B- make it a ménage. I would say C- just be an unrequited love where he finds someone else but she very clearly reacts to him. I felt like she had more chemistry with Gunner than Rhett. She always just said that Rhett was the good guy and that is what she needed right now. That doesn’t exactly seem like love to me. That sounds more like she was settling. She could have had the best of both and they would balance each other out. Gunner was the most interesting part of this book and nothing ever came of it. She was supposed to be Alpha but the author always brought up that Rhett could over power her. Why not just let her be the Alpha or them at least be equals? I thought she finally made a strong heroine but I still think she missed the mark. Why didn’t Rhett help her faze on command instead of the bear just taking over? I thought he was supposed to be helping her, not just controlling her. Why did it never occur to her to get a job? How is she supposed to support herself? She knows Rhett doesn’t have any money and she shouldn’t expect him to take care of her. It is hard to take any of the character seriously because they are all so juvenile. Why do they just keep letting the twins skip work? Also, how could they just leave them behind? That is very out of character of any team of shifters.

The Wilde Crew: Rhett: A paranormal shifter romance The Shifters of Wilde Ranch Book 1 by Kim Fox ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I'm so happy and excited to be able to read about the shifters in Colwood Montana. I knew they would make me laugh and smile through out story. There is a unexpected Hero, with the perfect blend of action, sex and humor! I ove The comic relief from the characters thrown into an environment where they are in their element mixed with fun and action. I loved all the characters even the secondary characters made this a story I couldn't stop reading. If I said it once I have said it a hundred times, Kim Fox is a awesome storyteller and I love how unique her writing is and it's so entertaining. I read this book in one night from beginning to end, I couldn't put my ereader down I probably kept my hubby awake because I laughed a lot. What I love best is that I can relate to the characters in this story. The storyline is fantastic, fun and simple which makes it flows well, the interpersonal relationships are more involved and adds depth to the storyline. Kim Fox is so creative she builds fantasy worlds with awesome characters that is so entertaining.
I always love reading these type of stories! They help me escape the real world and enjoy the time I am reading! If you love paranormal romance then this is definitely a great choice for your TBR list or your wish list. I was excited that I got to visit and get caught up with the characters from the other series. If you like reading a fun quick read then this is the book for you. I know everyone don't enjoy reading paranormal romance, if this isn't a genre you read I understand but if you want a fun, quick read, that will keep you turning pages then this is definitely a book you will want to read, you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend this book. I am voluntarily reviewing this book which was gifted to me by the author with no obligation. I enjoy sharing my thoughts with other readers. Without reservations and the series.
If you believe in the world of love and paranormal romance then the possibilities are endless and fascinating.
Well, this book has good reviews and it started well, with the main character and his friends being lovable screw-ups. And it was funny. Unfortunately that wasn't enough to carry the book when the rest of it fell apart.
There is no conflict in this book, not really. The author threw a half-baked love triangle in for no conceivable reason that substitutes for one for a little while. Let me think, hmm, no that was it and it wasn't even solved by the end of the book. There was no other conflict, so the book was dull.
It's basically insta-love, but fails even at that since the pitiful triangle meant the main female was admiring two men when the plot should have been solidifying the love between the two main characters. The sex is abrupt, out of no where and includes role play, which would be fine if the characters had known each-other more than 2 days and either of them had a personality that lead the reader to believe they'd be into that kind of thing. Or done anything to suggest to the other that they'd be open to it. I literally rolled my eyes at the sex scenes.
I appreciated the female alpha. (Though it should be noted she still needed a man to become Alpha.) The writing isn't horrible, like I said it's funny, but there is too much tell, not enough show, almost no development of characters, world or plot and it doesn't really accomplish anything. I finished the book wondering what the point had been.
How does Kim Fox do it? We just finished a remarkable shifter series in The Clawed Squad. We also sampled Kim's feisty spirit in the series Barbarian 1/2/3 of Zandipor, written with Juno Wells.
And what does she do now? She kicks off another wild shifter series with The Wilde Crew: Rhett. We met these new guys in passing in the final book of the Clawed Squad: Thorn--except for Rhett who appeared in the Clawed Squad: Tyler as Tyler's cousin. Naturally we were all dying to know what would happen next to Rhett and the remaining Wilde Crew members--Gunner, Ashton, Rory, and Cole. Plus we have figure out what's happening with the Chevy brothers Nathan and Emryl.
Now that's a LOT of shifters to keep up with...but Ms Fox whips up a doozy of a story starting with The Wilde Crew: Rhett. I'm not giving out any spoilers--but we're talking a Skin Shifter, a wolf, a mean ass lion, and some bears...oh my!! And we certainly can't forget the hottest new chick in Colwood--Joan Heller!
Grab this book today! It's one riotous situation after another; romance on the crazy side; and more testosterone than you can imagine! The bears are hot; so is the wolf--and don't forget the grumpy as hell gorgeous lion shifter.
Ask yourself--how in the heck can this crazy mixture ever work? All your questions and your dreams will be answered in this really great book from Kim Fox. Definitely deserves MORE than ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and absolutely loved it!)
It looks as though Kim Fox has written another winner of a series. This book is full of laughs, plus some steamy love scenes. Rhett is a skin shifter, which means he doesn't shift into an animal, he can move his energy into an animal. However, stay to long and the animals will stay with you forever. Which is why a flock of birds follows Rhett. Rhett had been cast out of his skin shifter community and is trying to find his place. When Kylee, the town sherriff, asks Rhett to be on the police force, he seems to finally find his calling. Rhett and Joan meet in an unusual way. She was losing her mind in a restaurant and he took over her animal to move her to safety. They seemed to connect and Rhett offered to help her out with a place to stay. As they spend time together they seem to both like the other, until they can't resist one another. But, they need to get her bear under control and when they go out to a call about the ruckus at the Wilde Crew's site, they may have found their answer or maybe a problem as a lion shifter named Gunner seems just as interested in Joan as Rhett. As always, Ms. Fox creates great characters and entertaining, yet hot stories. This one did not disappoint. It was a fun read and if you are looking to be entertained, then check this one out. I voluntarily read this ARC and this is my honest review.
This is the first book in the Wilde crew series and omg this was great. Rhett is a skin shifter his animal are black ravens and not one. Nope he had been stuck with a flock of them. They followed him everywhere even to his job getting him fired. Lucky for him the town he was in Colwood, Montana had a huge amount of shifters moving in and the Sheriff ( who was pregnant and married to a shifter) needed help. So on his first day on the job he was called to a restaurant having a shifter problem. The problem Joan, she was a tiny women with a huge alpha bear trying to break free and Rhett was head over heels for her. There is also trouble with the Wilde crew but not how you might think. The wilde crew was in the last book. OMG this was awesome. Rhett and Joan make a really hot couple! Joan's character is fierce! Lots of action and fun. This is not to be missed shifter fans. You have an amazing story with drama and so much craziness I laughed out loud. Voluntarily reviewed and I honestly loved it.
I have to say I'm really loving these characters in The Wilde Crew. They're so real and raw and unapologetically imperfect. They really draw you into the story and make you believe in this world where exceedingly good looking people turn into wolves and lions and bears, oh my. I was hooked from very early on and remained riveted to the very last page of this steamy read. If you like books about love triangles, unrequited love, a sense of family, a bit of shifter angst, sexy interludes, and of course, romantic love… then you're going to love this book! I highly recommend it and look forward to the next book in this series.
*I was given an ARC of this book by the author and voluntarily chose to review. All opinions are my own.
This book wasn't bad... but I just couldn't get into the characters, and while it had potential, it was way too over the top for me. I also have never read a book full of so many dumb and annoying characters. Even one of the main characters was extremely annoying at times.
Spoilers ahead******
Yes, it was a shifter romance, but the romance was ridiculous... I've read plenty of shifter books where one knows the other is his mate, but they take time to get to know the other person, or deal with issues. This book was like 3 days long, which is a bit fast, in my opinion.
The story had potential, but I think the characters need an overhaul and the story needs to be fleshed out
What an interesting shifter Rhett is, I was intrigued with his abilities. Joan was one very strange and feisty shifter. Not quite sure what is wrong with her bear but it seems to be a good thing for this misfit shifter crew. Enjoyed how this all played out and the characters involved. Nathan and Emry were just cooky but will be fun to see if they get a story too. Will be reading the rest of this series.
Joan Heller is a grizzly bear shifter. She doesn't have full control over her bear. She is 22 years old. Not sure where she doing with her life.
Rhett Jones is a skin shifter. He lives with two other skin shifters. But life is a little hard for him. Especially with having a flock of crows always following you.
Colwood , Montana is where these two meet. Get read how Rhett becomes a member of the Wilde crew. This was a really nice book.
Rhett is a skin shifter. He is on his first day of duty as a policeman when he gets a call about an unruly bear shifter. The best shifter is a dominant female shifter and Rhett falls in lust or is it love at first glance. The story centers around their relationship and police calls.
This is a great story. I was instantly drawn in by Joan. She is so head strong. Rhett is wonderful for her. He is strong enough to give her what she needs without all the macho fanfare. Can't wait to see who is next in this definitely wild crew.....hoping for Rory!!
Felt like it ended abruptly and was confused because in the previous book wth skin shifter Tyler, he had to bite is mate to bond to her, but Rhett never did that. Made it feel incomplete, like she bonded him but no him to her.
Wished the story was longer, but it was an outstanding love story. With the h was very down on her luck, the hero (H) was there to pick her up. They became mates with her becoming alpha of her own pack. Short read, but a must read.
Awesome 😀! Fat paced love story. Has action, a good plot, laughs, good characters. This is the beginning of a new crew and a new love. Being out of control has benefits.
This short little book is the start of a new series set in the same town in Montana as the others. I enjoyed Rhett and Joan and look forward to the rest of the series.
I downloaded The Wilde Crew: Rhett as a free book from Amazon. Somewhat simplistic with an Animal House (yes, pun intended) feel, with somewhat immature characters who don't seem to take their life seriously. The side kicks are cartoon-ish and I feel the book would have been better without them to detract from the story line. There wasn't any meat in the story, and the love conflict was weak, at best. It was a decent read for a freebie, but I'm not encouraged to read more of the series.
Rhett is a skin shifter who is new to Colwood, Montana and trying to find his place in the town. As new member of the police force he is shocked at the female grizzly shifter he encounters on his first call.
Joan, a grizzly shifter with a very dominant bear, is trying to find a safe place to live and her search has brought her to Montana.
This was a sweet quick read with just the right amount of passion and action. The characters are interesting and developed for this size story. The groundwork is laid out for the other characters to have their own stories and there is a HEA ending. I liked the characters and their interactions. I also loved that Joan's bear was so feisty, it was a fun twist.
Received an ARC copy and choose to write a review.
I love Kim Fox’s creativity and her books show that creative side. She can make you laugh, cry, jump up and down, scream and holler, and want some hot sex all in one book. To me that shows you that she knows what she is doing. That is one of the reasons I will continue to read her work. In the Clawed Squad she came up with a “Skin Shifter” and that was a new one to me. I loved how she made it work. Now we have a new series starting, “The Wilde Crew” and the first story in it is about the skin shifter Rhett who came to is the cousin of Tyler from The Clawed Squad. And let me tell you that Kim doesn’t waste any time in letting Rhett shine. After reading Rhett’s and Joan’s story I cannot wait for the others.
Rhett Jones is the skin shifter who came to Colwood after helping Tyler defeat his brother and rescue Tyler’s mate. He is the new cop in Colwood, Montana hired by Kylee, Stetson’s very pregnant mate. His call while on the job is a dominant grizzly bear shifter. Little did Rhett know that the grizzly shifter would turn out to be a very beautiful girl with a dominate grizzly that she can’t control. It didn’t take Rhett long to find out that the bear had nothing on the spirited girl. Now Rhett is hoping that this rare creature will turn into something more for him. He is truly smitten with her and her bear.
Grizzly shifter Joan Heller comes to Colwood with the hope of finding a place she can where she can live and control her grizzly which is a rare female Alpha. She is ruining Joan’s life and she is tired. Now she is facing being thrown out of yet another town because her grizzly has come out yet again. She is grateful to have met the sexy cop and his ravens who instead of throwing her out of town decides to help her. He takes her home with him and offers her a place to stay for however long she wanted it. Then he gets a call about a disturbance and of course it is the Wilde Crew and they are battling for an Alpha. Well Rhett takes Joan with him on the call and of course, her grizzly bear being the dominate bad ass bear she is has to join the fun. That is when Rhett gets an idea. Will Rhett’s idea work? Will he and Joan be able to win each other over? How will Joan’s bear react to the Wilde Crew?
No Spoilers. Advanced Reader Copy read voluntarily.
Rhett is a skin shifter. He can dominates animals, including shape shifters, with his mind. He's a caring, responsible guy, trying to up for past mistakes. He's been recruited to help control uncontrolled shifters in his new hometown. When he comes across Joan he realizes she needs help and he's ready to help her. Love the way this novella depicts an alternate world that is detailed and realistic. Seeing Joan overcome her issues with Rhett helping her is rewarding in many ways. Great couple.
