When horse racing and football collide, Hunter McCoy, star tight end of the Seattle Steelheads and neophyte horse owner, finds himself in a battle of wills with a sexy horsewoman and a stubborn, opinionated race horse.

Kate Vanderhof-Carrigan's family has raised champion Thoroughbreds on their Kentucky bluegrass farm for over a century. Lately the farm has fallen on hard times, but Kate is determined to return Oak Brook to its former glory. First, she must satisfy an odd clause in her grandfather's will. She's been given five years to produce a winner of horse racing's biggest prize of all, the Derby, or lose the farm to her siblings and their development plans. Time has run out, and Hunter's talented horse stands between Kate and her last shot at the Derby. Only Kate never counted on her heart entering the race.

Hunter is juggling his responsibilities to his two-dozen investors, his blind sister, his football career, and his commitment to his tribe. The last thing he needs is an unwanted attraction to a spoiled rich girl who doesn't fit into his carefully crafted plans. Not only are they rivals on the race track, but she doesn't understand or appreciate his dedication to his Native American heritage. Yet despite the odds, all bets are off when Hunter and Kate find themselves in a relationship they can't resist.

With the stakes much higher than the Derby purse, can these two longshots win the biggest race of their lifetime or will their hearts finish out of the money?

Game Changer was a very good read for me...it's full of surprises and unexpected under-themes that blew me away.
I love sports novels and even if I'm not a big connoisseur of horse racing I felt the storyline is really credible and compelling.

Hunter and Kate are two stubborn persons with different social bakgrounds and opinions on how to raise a horse racing winner but their chemistry and sexual attraction is over the top and undeniable from the first encounter.Their journey is not easy but I couldn't turn the pages quick enough to find out what would happen next.
Lilli and Cam are my favorite, they will put a happy smile on your face and you cannot not to love them and cheer for their happily ever after.

This was the first time I've read something written by Jami Davenport but it won't be my last because I've enjoyed her writing, the well paced story and how she was able to perfectly interwine two love stories and four point of views without overwhelm the reader.

Game Changer is an American Football sports romance.

Let's discuss the first part of the book.

Two love stories in one. My own personal hell while I was reading. At least the author managed to get strong emotions out of me.

Lilli & Hunter are brother and sister. Hunter meets Kate and is instantly attracted to her. Kate is also instantly attracted to Hunter. Surprise, surprise.

It is tough going at the beginning. Kate is a spoilt rich brat. Who has a lot to prove but goes about it the wrong way. Her motto? Everyone has a price. Kate needs a winning horse. She wants Hunter's horse Sid. For all of Hunter's serenity and being one with nature and his tribe and doing good in the world he is a judgmental git. There is just too much push and pull. IMO.

They are rivals. Both stubborn and competitive strong willed. To begin they don't like one another but they have electric chemistry.

Our second couple are Cam & Lilli

Cam wants to get it on with Kate and ignores Lilli somewhat to begin with. Lilli doesn’t seem to be too upset about it although there was a point where Cam was callous because he was a coward to admit to his feelings.

Throughout the book, it becomes clear who will be with whom. Two completely different character couples in the book and it works well.

Cam & Lilli were a different story though although Cam is a bit of an idiot. He slowly starts to develop feelings for Lilli. It is implied that he is a player but there are no scenes of this. Lilli has a disability but it has never gotten in her way but a lot of people consider it to be a burden more than anything else and in past relationships she has been burnt.

Cam & Lilli are more of a sweet couple than Kate and Hunter as they are quite volatile together.

I don't want to count how many times I wanted to stop reading or throw my kindle across the room. Let alone wanting to deck Hunter & Kate nearly every single time they were together.

I always find it difficult to have two couples in a book. But the author wrote four very individual characters all from different backgrounds. See glimpses of Native American tribes gave the book more depth. Hunter has preconceived notions. He is blocking himself for being happy.

A major pet peeve of mine. I don't like reading book X of a series if I have started the series. Yeah, I should have done my research. Although this can be read as a standalone. So, fear not for all of you that don't consider it to be a pet peeve of yours. However, with all the things that annoyed me I did thoroughly enjoy the author's writing style and the direction she took with each individual character.

The second half of the book made up for the first part of the book. The first part was a definite 2 * read and the second half is a 4*. The scenes between Hunter and Kate are really hot and gave me some good old tingles.

The story flows well the characters undergo a development to the beginning of the book and they grew on me. I'm happy to say that all in all I enjoyed this book. But generally, this series isn't for me. Each to their own.

ARC Review: Game Changer: Seattle Steel Heads Football (Game On In Seattle by Jami Davenport

She's conquered the hockey arena. Scored a home run with her baseball stars and tackled the competition with her touchdowns on and off the field. So why not dream bigger and aim for the Derby? The Kentucky Derby is the premier arena for the elite and Jami Davenport grabs the spotlight with an underdog horse breeder determined to live up to the former glory of her family business. Kate is a woman with big dreams and enough spirit to make them a reality. Add in a hot jock with a lot of opinions, an abundance of heart and just the right motivation and the race is on. Another crowning achievement can be added to Ms. Davenport's arsenal of winners.

What happens when you put a stubborn football player and a more stubborn woman together you get the intensity that is off the charts.
Hunter McCoy a Tight End for the Seattle Steelheads and now part owner of probably a Kentucky Derby winner but also a man with great pride for his Native American Heritage. But what Hunter doesn't know that he most likely has met his match in Kate Carrigan.
Kate Carrigan has known nothing but privilege but what she does know that she will do whatever it takes to save her families legacy even with the odds against her but her biggest hurdle will be Hunter McCoy.
The tension between Hunter & Kate is wound so tight you don't know if it's the emotional or physical but what you will know is that fighting it will bring them
on a rollercoaster of many ups and downs. The walls that they both have up will have to come down brick by brick but as you watch the two you are cheering them on with each turn of the page.
This book not only tells us Hunter & Kate's Fantastic story we also get Cam & Lilli's as well. Two people so opposite but so much that they fit. Lilli has many obstacles with her blindness and Cam with his wandering ways but when he becomes her eyes the pages light up with so much happiness you can't help feeling the love that they share.
Reading this book gives you all the feels but when you get two Fantastic stories in one that gives it
That much more of a bonus.

Jami Davenport is “in the money” with GAME CHANGER, the seventh book in the Game On Seattle Series. In the previous books, Seattle Steelhead's tight end, Hunter McCoy, talked a group of his friends into investing in a race horse. He finds himself intrigued with Kate Vanderhof, the owner of his horse’s biggest competition. Simultaneously, he is being an overprotective younger brother to his blind sister, Lilli. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences.

I like Hunter. He is proud of being a Native American, and he is a good role model. I wasn’t sure what to make of him in the previous books, and I loved hearing his story. At first, Kate seems like an unlikely match for Hunter. The more they learn about each other the more compatible they discover they are. They come from different backgrounds but have similar values. Both love horses. They both want to do good for others.

I love Lilli. She has an amazing personality and outlook on life. Instead of being bitter about becoming blind, she lives her life to the fullest and does not let her condition hold her back. She has numerous degrees, is an accomplished professional, and skilled equestrian. I have known people that have had various disabilities and overcome them. They are so confident that you forget about their condition. It is an admiral quality.

I really enjoyed the plot. It was unique, and it had a lot going on. I like that the characters from the previous book in the series, are investors in the horse and are included in this novel. I enjoyed the horse-racing aspect to the story. The football scenes were well described. There were interesting conflict and resolutions. The ending was perfect. GAME CHANGER was an amazing addition to the Game On in Seattle series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

I really enjoyed this book. Took me a few chapters to get into it but once I did it was brilliant.

Kate has horseracing in her blood, her family have raised and raced horses her entire life. Now it is her time to shine, only one person stands in her way.

Hunter is a star football player, his family comes first and he is always looking out for his sister who lost her sight in an accident. His family heritage is also important to him and he tries to use his fame as a football star to help his native American tribe.

When the two come together it is obvious they are both attracted to each other, however they are also both strong minded and stubborn. Can they overcome how they think their lives should go and possibly have something amazing?

Game Changer is the next installment in the Game On in Seattle series and what a great addition it is!

Hunter McCoy is not only a successful tight end for the Seattle Steelheads, but he's the majority owner of "Sid" a horse that the ownership group has very high aspirations for, including the potential to be Kentucky Derby winner. Hunter also is very devoted to his tribe due to his Native American heritage and he also lives with and helps his sister, who is blind. Hunter's plate is sufficiently full when he encounters a woman who is going to turn his world upside down.

Kate Vanderhof-Carrigan comes from old money and she has never wanted for anything in her life. Two of the most important things to her are the horses that she works with and also the horse farm that has been in her mother's family for decades. Unfortunately for her, a clause in her grandfather's will is causing her to have to fight for the farm and the only way for her to win is to win the Kentucky Derby.

When Kate and Hunter meet, they immediately butt heads. They bicker, they disagree and yet they are inexplicably attracted to one another. Neither one of them want to give the other aninch, and so they continue their tenuous dance as their two horses compete against each other during the run up to the Derby.

Will the sparks that are so evident every time they are around one another going to turn into a raging inferno or will these two proud, stubborn people stand in their own way?

I really enjoyed the characters in this book, including the secondary characters of Lilli and Cam. Following their relationship was an unexpected treat! Kudos to Jami Davenport for another quality addition to her already strong stable of books!

I loved this book, I was sucked in from the first page! It's told from 4 points of view, I loved that, it wasn't confusing and we got 2 books for 1! It did take a bit of the shine away from Hunter and Kate. Although Hunter is a football player, the story centres around 2 races horses and Kate's need to have a Derby winner. Both are really stubborn and headstrong, mix in sexual chemistry that's off the charts and you have an explosive page turner. This is another 5* read in the game on series, can't wait to see what awesomeness this author comes up with next!

I give Game Changer 5 stars for reigning me in and keeping me entertained and enthralled right to the finish line. I felt so much joy for these characters, I loved their interactions with the horses, and was rather hot and bothered by the steamy scenes in the bedroom.

Jami Davenport has done it again, another great novel which blended two sports into one book and put many hearts on the line. The characters were superb and the plot so so interesting.

Hunter and Kate meet and butt heads from day one. He has a great horse with lots of character, and she has a horse who is stable and reliable. As they battle each other, they also cannot fight this sexual attraction they have for each other. Who will win in the end?

Hunter McCoy, star tight end of the Seattle Steelheads and horse owner, meets Kate and their disdain for each other is immediate. Now he's dealing with a stubborn horse and a rich spoiled girl, and trying to balance everything and win the Derby. What is more at steak his heart or the Derby?

Kate Vanderhof-Carrigan lived and breathed horses, from the show horses to the racehorses her family bred for generations in the Kentucky bluegrass. When her grandfather died, his will stipulated that she needed to win the Derby within four years or the farm would go to her siblings. Does her horse stand a chance in the Derby?

Game Changer is a romance novel that involves horses, hearts, and stubborn humans. A very interesting story with lots of love, culture, and acceptance.

Loved this story and just couldn't put it down.

AMAZING! This book was amazing. Hunter and Kate are electric but Cam and Lilli melted my heart. Jami killed it with this book. When I started reading and realized there were 2 love stories going on I wasn't sure how I felt about that. I hate when stories bounce around. Jami did a wonderful job making sure there was a smooth transition with each change. This book will not disappoint! You won't be able to put it down.

I loved Hunters character. He annoyed me a bit though. Hardheaded doesn't even begin to describe him. He had this idea of his "the one" and all but refused to consider he might be wrong. Kate is a no nonsense kinda girl. I enjoyed seeing her blossom into the new Kate. Cam is adorable in every single way. He's determined not to fall for Lilli but Lilli has other ideas. He's so good with her. Loved that about him.

I loved seeing how Kate made Hunter completely rethinking everything he has ever thought he knew about the one. She wasn't what he normally went after and she didn't really like him to begin with. These two are so funny.

Game Changer is the seventh book of the Seattle Steelheads Football series by Jami Davenport.

I loved this series as well as Davenport's writing style. True to form, Game Changer was well written and had an interesting storyline.

With that said, this was my least favorite; however, I think it was mindset at the time of the reading. For some reason, I couldn't connect with the main characters, Hunter McCoy and Kate Vanderhof-Carrigan. We were introduced to Hunter previously and he's perceptive, insightful, and senses feelings/situations prior to their occurrence. It was great to dive further into his psyche, I just felt he was unreasonable at times and I craved a little more alpha from him.

I did, however, love the secondary storyline focusing on Lilly, Hunter's blind sister, and Cameron, Hunter's longtime teammate. That's the story I desired to dive deeper into. They were charming and it was a sweet story.

Another perspective that worked for me was Davenport's dive into the Native American culture. It was a fitting and enjoyable back story.

I would have liked more with the football theme, but Davenport was able to provide some crucial highlights and a storyline that was left open that hopefully will get resolved in a future book.

Additionally, Davenport included all of the previous character favorites, which spanned all of the Seattle professional sports teams and their lovely wives. Davenport also introduced us to the world of horse racing which included a peek into the Derby and a chase for the Triple Crown.

Al in all, Game Changer was a good addition to the series. I'm looking forward to seeing what's next on Davenport's horizon.

4 Derby Stars

I have read this author many times. She writes a good sports story as well as incorporating a good romance as well. This book though there are two romances in it and it was great. It also has football meet horse racing. The pace, writing, and premise were great. I have never read anything before about horse racing and this was a treat and I very much enjoyed it.

Kate’s family owns Oak Brook Farms that has been raising championship racing Thoroughbreds for over a century. She stands to lose it all to her siblings if she can’t produce a winning horse for this Kentucky Derby, as stipulated in her grandfather's will. While out watching a horse rehab and her being hands on, at a stable in Seattle, she sees Hunter for the first time. She sees his horse and wants him. Well both the horse and Hunter, actually. Kate feels Hunters horse Sid would be exactly what she needs to save Oak Run. Everyone has a price is her philosophy.

Hunter lives with his sister Lilli and she is a strong, independent woman even though she has a disability. She doesn't let it stop her or slow her down. I admired her. Hunter is very protective of her almost to the point of smothering at times. He plays football for the Seattle Steelheads and takes pride in himself and his life. He loves football and his horse Sid. Hunter doesn’t want any distractions getting in his way and Kate is a huge distraction. Let me tell you, there was a point I had an issue with Hunter. He really pissed me off. The writer had me feeling what the people were feeling and it drew me in.

Hunter and Kate are so much alike and different. Different in their upbringing and social backgrounds. Alike they are headstrong, stubborn and passionate. The chemistry is there and palpable from the moment their eyes meet at the stable.

Then you have Cam and Lilli as the second love story. Let me tell you Cam bugged the crap out of me. I thought he was indecisive and a bit of a jerk. Though I did like getting two stories in one. Watching the growth of all of them was good. It wasn’t at all distracting for me anyway from Hunter and Kate.

There is one thing and that is the ending and I am not sure what to think. I hope there is more as the ending feels a bit unfinished to me, but maybe that was the point to make me think. All in all, it was a good story and I enjoyed my time reading it.

Slick's review:

I absolutely loved the way author Jami Davenport mixed the rich history of Native American culture in the Seattle area with the rich history of thoroughbred horse racing in Kentucky, sprinkled in two stubborn characters and came out with one amazingly fresh and sexy romance.

When Hunter McCoy found a horse that spoke to him like no other, he knew that horse was destined for greatness so he convinced several of his fellow pro football teammates and their friends to buy what they hoped would one day be a Derby contender. Hunter’s Native American culture is important to him and he is committed to balance the needs of his horse Sid with those of his investors. Dedicated to his tribe, his team, and his blind older sister, Hunter’s plate is full, but when he meets Kate Vanderhof-Carrigan, heir to a Kentucky Thoroughbred farm, his world is turned upside down.

The animosity between Hunter and Kate was so thick throughout so much of this book it would be easy to think that this would be a difficult romance to read when in fact it was just the opposite. There was no doubt these two were completely different people with completely different backgrounds and lifestyles, but that’s what made the relationship interesting. While they had their horses and racing in common, along with the fact they pretty much agreed to a sex only fling along the way it became evident they both were feeling more than the expected which had them both freaking out and making some mistakes along the way. In addition the fact that Kate had become good friends with Hunter’s sister, Lilli, and Hunter’s teammate, Cameron and Lilli were quickly falling for one another gave us two romances for the price of one!

There were lots of twists and turns and two very hard headed people learning to let go a bit, take a good, hard look at their lives and learn that sometimes what you think you want out of life isn’t what life has planned for you.

I loved everything about Game Changer, author Jami Davenport continues to hone her craft and this is one of my favorite books by her.

I was impressed with this book. Jami did a magnificent job of telling not only Hunter and Kate's story but that of Cam and Lili as well.

I appreciated the development that Hunter went through to release his past. He also had to learn to give Lili independence to pursue a relationship with Cam.

Having site challenged family members I identified with how protective Hunter is with Lili. But more importantly how Cam did not test it as a disability.

Thank you Jami for a job well done.

When we first meet up with Kate and Hunter, the tension between the two of them is intense. From butting heads to witty banter, you just know things between the two of them will be explosive. Even though Kate is a spoiled rich girl and not the type that Hunter would ever go for, the sparks between these two are undeniable. Before they know it, things are no longer about race horses, but are about a connection that must be explored. However, in this game of life, there is more at stake than just their hearts…their horses will also be in competition. And in the end there will be just one question remaining: Will their wallets or their hearts finish last?

Overall, I thought this was an ok book. It was a quick and easy read; one that I was able to finish in just one sitting. I loved the banter between Kate and Hunter. I’m not gonna lie, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Kate’s in the beginning, but I am very pleased that she was able to win me over. I adored Hunter. I appreciated just how important his family was to him and how dedicated he was despite all of the stress he was under. Not only were Kate and Hunter an explosive match, but they were also very similar with how proud they were and I loved how they challenged one another.

Game Changer is the seventh book in the Game On In Seattle Series, as is my first read by this author. So, I am happy to report that this book can be read as a standalone with no issues following at all.

I gave this book 4 stars!

I love a good love/hate relationship books and this one hit all the right places. I felt at times there were lulls in the story and then it would pick back up. I am glad I read this book because I was curious if these two would just have friends with benefits or if they would finally see the attraction they both had to one another.

I love how Kate had a no holds bar attitude and was willing do whatever it takes to say her family's farm. Hunter at times came off as a$$ but at other times you could see his caring nature with his horses, friends and his sister. I loved how we got 2 love stories in one and I think the ending was perfect.

I had high hopes when reading the blub for Game Changer by Jami Davenport. I enjoyed the previous book in the series, however this one fell short for me.

I did like the football scenes and the insights into horse racing and equestrian pursuits. I also found the cultural aspect refreshing, in that there was an embracing of the outsider, rather than a rejection of differences from the Native American family.

The lead characters Kate and Hunter were not overly likable in the beginning, and although I did warm to them further into the story, I much preferred Hunter's sister Lilli and friend Cam's relationship. I found myself skipping to the parts of the story involving them.

The story felt disjointed. The flow isn't there. Perhaps being written in 3rd person made the story and character development more challenging for the author to maintain. The first night of sex was also an issue for me. There was violence that, in my point of view, was bordering on inappropriate. There was spanking. Now don't get me wrong, I have no problem with BDSM in books; however there is usually some lead up or at least some warning that it is going to happen. I feel that with different wording it would have been a really hot scene, rather than an aggressive and violent one.

This book would be enjoyed by other readers who have followed the series from the start and those that may have a deeper feel for the characters, but this book was not for me.

Hunter McCoy is a very busy man with a lot of irons in the fire, between caring for his blind sister, playing football, supporting his tribe and also trying to wrangle his investors he has very little time for much of anything else. So, when a stubborn woman and her refined prize winning horse wander into his life it creates a kind of chaos he is no where near ready to handle, and before long the too of them are butting heads over their horses, and everything else in between...and the sparks start flying!! But with already a full plate Hunter knows a relationship is totally out of the question... or is it?

The minute Hunter McCoy waltzes into Kate Vanderhof-Carrigan's upscale world she is all but ready to send him and his horse packing, he has no place in her world, not to mention the fact that she has a farm to save. So, her focus needs to remain on her and her horse competing and winning the derby and hopefully collecting the handsome reward at the end of the race. But no matter how much she tries to avoid the sexy tight end he seems to keep finding a way to wander into path and disrupt all her nicely laid out plans, and speed up her heart in the process. As much as she tries to deny the sparks bouncing around between them, she knows they are there lurking... but she has plans that don't involve falling prey to a sexy and oh so irritating jock!

The instant my eyes hit the cover of this one I was intrigued, I mean what is not to love about a sexy football player, then I read the synopsis and it totally got me, opposite attract love stories are high on my list of favorites, so I had high hopes for this one... and it did not disappoint!! This was my first experience with this authors work and I have to say it was quite enjoyable to jump into the story and let her words wow me...and they totally did, the story line pulled me in from the get-go and was unlike anything else that I have read in the past, which was a really refreshing discovery. I loved meeting Hunter and Kate, looking at them on paper you would think they were a total mismatch, but somewhere along the way they surprised me and themselves and found common ground and when they did I knew they were meant to be. Their road to finding love may have been a little bumpy here and there, but I think that is what made their relationship have a realistic quality to it, sometimes love is messy and it takes a little adjustment to make it work... and it was a joy to watch them find their way of making it work!! Highly recommend this one, it is sure to tug on your heartstrings and leave you with a smile!

I loved this story! I mean I always love Jami's books but I was just a little concerned about this one at first because it was told in multiple POVs and it seemed like it was mainly about two people who really didn't seem to like each other at all. Well, I was wrong to ever have doubted her. I absolutely loved the multiple POVs as they added so much depth to this story which was just wonderful. I was also very pleasantly surprised that this book was about so much more than just Hunter & Kate's relationship, although that is a really good story too. There is so much more to both of these characters than meets the eye. Hunter & Kate are some extremely well developed characters. As always this author's attention to detail is astounding and brings her books to life. It appears at first that they are so opposite that they would never make it as a couple. They are both so passionate and stubborn. Well, you know what they say about opposites. These two have some serious physical chemistry and when they give into that, they just sizzle. I mean their passion is hot!! They start what they think will just be a fling but it turns into so much more. After a while, they do find that they really like and respect each other and find enough common ground between them to sustain a relationship beyond sex. Hunter's pride in his Native American heritage makes him even more lovable. It has shaped the man he is today. I love how Kate wants to learn all about it and help make their lives better. Kate is not the spoiled rich girl Hunter thought she was. Her back story shows there is so much more than meets the eye with her.
Hunter also has an amazing way with horses especially his horse Sid that he owns with some of his teammates. The horse racing was also very vividly described and I found myself cheering Sid on instead of Kate's horse Jet. Hunter is some sort of horse whisperer and so is his sister Lilli. They both talk to Sid and claim that he tells them how he feels. The way they treat this horse warms my heart. It's all pretty cool. I love Lilli. She is an amazingly strong woman who also happens to be blind. She does not let that stop her at all. I really enjoyed the love story that emerged between Lilli and Hunter's best friend and teammate Cameron. During the scenes where they are dancing, it was amazing how I could see them.
Another wonderful 5 star read in the Game On in Seattle series.

Star Rating - *****

Quick, Easy and fun with a touch of angst to draw the reader in that is what I have come to expect when reading Jami Davenport and Game Changer is no different. The 7th book in the Seattle steelheads football series I was already familiar with the lead character and wondered how his story would develop. Hunter a Tight End for the Steelheads ticks more than 1 box in the Romance genre hero checklist, This hot and hunky football player has a softer side too that's brought out by his sister and his love of animals.

Our heroine Kate is a tough nut to crack determined to meet the conditions of her grandfathers will she has no time for love even for the hottie that owns the race horse she wants to buy. The sparks fly between this pair as they learn that hate is often the other side of the coin to love. Quite simply put this book gave me feels and to top it off it's 2 for the price of one as you read about Hunters sister Lilli and his team mate Cam fall in love alongside him and Kate. 5 stars.

I am a huge fan of Jami's and have read every book in this series. I love the fact that we were able to get 2 stories for the price of one. I loved the fact that we saw relationships develop between Hunter and Kate as well as Cam and Lilli. I love how Kate changes as she gets to know Hunter and realizes that everything is not about saving the farm. I also love how we learn about Lilli and Cam as well as how she puts little brother in his place. I loved this book and you won't regret taking a chance buying. Jami has written another smash hit and I cannot wait for the next installment in the history. The book was awesome! I was offered this book as an ARC copy for an honest review which I hope I did. I don't like to give a whole bunch of detail because I want you to have an incentive to buy and read.

As a fan of Jami Davenport's she didn't disappoint with this work of art. I feel like I got two for one with this book. It's the story of Cameron and Lilli and Hunter and Kate. I love that she writes about different scenarios with different backgrounds and brings them together to mesh as one. Cameron's from a rich African American background, Kate is a socialite family outcast , Hunter and Lilli are Native Americans. I loved learning some of the cultural history that came from these characters. Not only did this book give me two love story's it combined two sports, football and horse racing. Again two for one. Well put together for a warm fuzzy, exciting romance. Recommend this book as well as the others in this series.

First off, I enjoyed the Native American cultural aspects of this story and how the author incorporated Hunter's and Lilli's beliefs throughout. It was unique and made their stories that much more special. I was also drawn to Lilli's inability to see and how she lived her life to the fullest and found someone who complemented her.

I loved the dual story line of Hunter & Kate and Lilli & Cam. It was great having the multiple perspectives of both relationships as well as the added bonus of their personal interactions with their friends and family. The world that the author built was beautifully described and the characters were unique, strong (if not stubborn), and full of depth. I loved the intense emotions that the characters exhibited and their passion in all aspects of their lives. I liked everything about these couples' journeys. However, I felt like there could have been a better way to get Hunter and Kate to talk out their feelings. In the end, I was happy with their growth as individuals and as a couple.

Ms Davenport is the master of mixing romance and sports in easy to read but absorbing novels. Her characters have depth and layers and every story blends her love and knowledge of sports with the emotions only true love can foster. This story was two for the price of one with two couples which added to the enjoyment of the book. While you can read each book in the series as a stand alone, I recommend reading each and every one of them. Hunter and Kate, Cam and Lilli, both are wonderful stories and not to be missed.

4.5☆ 2 interwoven romances for a brother & sister, one as opposites attract, the other best friend falling for teammate’s sister

Game Changer is a sports romance with two love stories that are interwoven as this brother and sister find love. The two themes involved are: an opposites attract (between a native American guy and a woman from a rich family fighting to save her family’s horse farm), and a best friend falling for his teammate’s sister with an emotional twist. This is a great read that, especially if you like horse racing too as it plays a large role in intertwining the two stories and characters even further.

Told from all four points of view, Hunter and Kate, and Lilli (Hunter’s sister) and Cam, are all likeable characters, especially once you get to know them and understand their personalities (for Kate and Hunter in-particular). The chemistry between the two couples was irresistible, strong, and clear from the start with each character having unique quirks to make them all interesting. Lilli was my favourite character of the four and is a really inspiring character who, despite being hurt in the past, is a particularly strong and determined woman, that strength part of what makes her and Cam so great together.

Game Changer is well written with a steady pace that flowed perfectly. The author does a fantastic job of tugging at emotions in both love stories that will tug at your heart but also give you that warm feeling when things finally start going right for the couples. The overall plot was intriguing with some twists and turns to add a few surprising events along the way to make the book unpredictable. In terms of the horse elements, I can’t comment on those accuracies as I haven’t got a clue about horses but as a novice I could follow along with what was happening no problem, as well as the brief sports elements. While this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone with a HEA.

Overall, as a big fan of Jami Davenport, I can definitely recommend this book which is another unique and great read.

*I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.

This book was reviewed for Summer's Eve Reads...this is an absorbing romantic sports story...the two main characters, Hunter and Kate, come from very different backgrounds and are both stubborn, opinionated individuals with a common goal to train a thoroughbred horse to win the Kentucky Derby...everything rides ( no pun intended) on the outcome of the race.. the added bonus in this book is that there are two love stories; things are hotting up between Hunter's sister and his team mate Cam...but not everyone is happy with the situation..

Over the course of this series the author has created a group of great characters all interconnected through sport, family and friendship....their relationships are all plausible full of humour, teasing, loyalty and love...and this seventh book in the series benefits from their ad hoc appearances throughout adding another level of humour and interest ... I particularly loved the sweet relationship between Hunter, the overprotective brother and Lilli, his totally capable and lively sister ... as for him and Kate there is a whole lot of sexual tension ; how resistant can two people be to each others charms ... in fact a couple of times I felt like banging their heads together to knock some sense into them...particularly Hunter whose belief systems play havoc with his ability to choose the perfect woman for him...

What is evident from the detail that the author includes in the scenes relating to horses and racing is that she really knows her subject and this makes the story so much more realistic and meaningful...This is a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining read with plenty of surprises and revelations along the way........not to mention two great love stories....

4 1/2 STARS!

A new delve into horse racing from one of my favorite sports authors! A really enjoyable read that takes you through the trials and tribulations of falling in love but being in denial about it, and when to let yourself trust that you've truly found "the one". If you are coming to this book expecting your typical football engrossed novel, you will not find it. There's a very moderate amount of football talk or action in this story ... but there is a large presence of horse racing in it. I was slightly thrown when a 2nd hero's perspective started being shown, but I soon caught on with what was going on and went with the flow ... and in the end, the 2nd side story was just as sweet as the first! :)

Seattle Steelheads tight end Hunter McCoy has been all about family and football for a long time now, but he has a new passion in his life that he's brought his sister Lilli and a few of his friends and teammates along for the ride on. He's the majority owner in a Derby contender race horse with several of them having part ownership. He's sure they are going to win the Kentucky Derby this year ... but then he meets someone who is sure SHE is going to win!

Kate Vanderhof-Carrigan comes from a long line of horse breeding and championship training at her family's Kentucky farm. She has one last chance to save the farm ... and honor her mother's dying wish ... she has to win the Derby this year!! A friendly competition abounds with a good bit of a love hate relationship going on with Hunter and Kate. Will they be able to agree to disagree and find some common ground in the end? And when his sister falls for one of his teammates, will he be able to keep his cool and not lose a friend ... and his sister?

Jami Davenport’s Game Changer is another sexy football romance that includes two love stories told through four points of view. Hunter McCoy is an American Indian, professional football player and successful businessman who is passionate about investing in racing horses. He has a blind sister living with him who he is fiercely devoted to. Hunter is a very interesting guy.

Kate Vanderhof-Carrigan is from a wealthy, blue blooded family, and she is an avid horsewoman. Horses are her life and she is determined to have a Kentucky Derby winner - for more than just the glory of winning the most prestigious race. She needs to win in order to prevent her family farm being sold, and she will do anything she can to save it. She finds the horse she thinks can win, but he is Hunter’s horse.

Kate believes everyone has a price, but Hunter soon proves her wrong. They don’t start off on the right foot and have an I-hate-you but I-want-you battle of wills, but they also bond over their love of horses. Sparks fly and they cannot resist each other for long.

While Hunter and Kate do their love/hate dance, Hunter’s sister Lilli and his teammate Cam discover their own attraction. Their romance is a nice bonus, and Lilli’s blindness was an interesting storyline.

Jami Davenport writes complex stories with enigmatic characters that are always original and unique. Game Changer is just this and is easy to recommend.

When four people, three very different backgrounds, two sports all collide in one book which is so intense that you can’t help but become so involved that when you are finally done, you will be exhausted!

Hunter McCoy is a man that every woman dreams of meeting - Professional football player, successful Business man, committed to his Native American tribe and customs and has his blind sister living with him just outside of Seattle. Unfortunately his hard headedness and wanting to be in control, especially over his sister, is a problem. He also is still in love with the woman who he believed was perfect for him, a fellow tribe member, so romance is far from his mind.

Kate Vanderhof-Carrigan is just like her name sounds = from a well to do blue blooded family that has owned a horse farm for 100 years raising Triple Crown contenders. But this year she is pushing everything she can with the horse she has racing for the Kentucky Derby because if she does not produce a winner, the farm will be sold. Her mother who is very sick will lose everything she has. Kate has a stubbornness in her that will not back down as she has constantly had to prove herself to the men in her life.

So when Hunter and Kate meet it is not on the best of terms to say the least. Kate wants something Hunter has immediately and he is not giving it up to anyone or anything. They each have plans and are sticking to them, not backing down at all. Well not until they spend one night together and realize it isn’t sparks between them, it is a fire of passion and it will not burn out anytime soon. Now they just have to take that passion outside the bedroom to their real life and work together.

In the background is Hunter’s sister Lilli and teammate Cam. Lilli is trying to prove to her brother that she is more independent than he realizes. She has shown it countless times while on her horse to him, he just has to let her do it outside the barn, especially when a relationship is involved. Cam has known Lilly for years and has always thought of her as a little sister. That is until one night when he takes her on the dance floor and he realizes how special she is, showing him she is the one.

Time and time again Jami Davenport has proven she is a skilled author and I must say in all honesty this is one of the best ones of her’s I have read. You hear it from 4 different angels which is very different but yet it isn’t. It touches the heart in so many ways and there are times when you can actually picture what is happening in your mind. This book is a Super Bowl Champion!!
