Fighting to Breathe

Rate this book
Lea Lamb and Austin Wolf were young when they fell in love. They never imagined the future could hold anything other than together-forever.

When Lea’s father dies in a tragic fishing accident, she's crushed under the weight of her grief and catches a glimpse of another type of future, one she knows she's not strong enough to face.

Austin is angry. For the past fifteen years, he's believed the woman he loved with every ounce of his soul left him without so much as a backwards glance.

When Lea unexpectedly returns to their hometown, all the years of heartache inside Austin bubbles to the surface and presents itself as blinding rage.

Faced with the truth about the past, a newly discovered secret, these former lovers will learn that if they want to have any chance at the future they’d given up on all those years ago, they will have to rescue one another from drowning in pain so debilitating it will leave them both fighting to breath.

Warning this book is intended for mature audiences and may contain triggers for some.

Fighting to Breathe is a little different than most of Aurora’s books. It’s got a little more emotion and feeling- and I love that! I love to feel when I read and this story definitely hit me in the feels more than once. Fighting to Breathe is a second chance romance. It’s a story about overcoming your fears, finding yourself, being brave, and giving love a chance.

Lea and Austin were high school sweethearts. They had big plans. Marry after graduation and spend the rest of their lives together in small town Alaska. When Lea’s father dies in a tragic boating accident, thing forever change.

Fifteen years ago Lea left Alaska and never looked back. She couldn’t cope with her loss and the fear of losing one of the only people she still has, that she loves. Her mother would always visit her frequently never requiring her to come back to that small town. But now her mother needs her. So she’s got to go back and face her past. To face him- the love she left behind.

Austin has never truly moved on from Lea. She was his first and only real love. Now she’s back and he doesn’t know how to feel. He wants her, he hates her, he desires her, he loathes her, he loves her. It’s safe to say he’s conflicted. He remembers how much he loved her, he sees who she is now and realizes he still does. He always has.
“I remember everything, Lea. Every conversation, every touch, every kiss, every single thing about you, about us. I remember it all.”

 photo 657c3746-eef8-42a5-a7d6-c680d99c321c_zpscgbrybsx.jpg

I liked Lea and Austin a lot, and their friends Rhonda and Ben were pretty great as well. I loved that Reynolds mixed it up and did something different. Most of her books are fun, sweet and hot- Where as Fighting to Breathe has more emotion and feeling. I’m excited to read more of this style from ARR. Looking forward to the next book in this series!
“I love you, Lea. I always have and will, even in death. You’re my family, and I’m yours.”

I wanted her fifteen years ago, and I still fucking want her now. There isn't a single part of me that doesn't know she's my future...

What's better than a second chance romance? A second chance romance with an Aurora Rose Alpha. *swoon*
There's a reason she's my go-to author for pure guilty pleasure read, and this book was the perfect fix. At just under 200 pages, it's on the shorter side, and easily read in one sitting (which I did since I couldn't put it down). Surprisingly in those short pages Aurora managed to give the readers a true heartfelt romance. It made me cry, it made me swoon, it made me pant. It was that perfect weekend afternoon read that will leave a smile on your face.
Fifteen years have gone by, and in that time, I've had more women than I care to admit, but none of them even came close to giving me what she did, and I know that no one ever will.

Fifteen years ago Lea and Austin were high school sweethearts that were planning on spending the rest of their lives together. But then the tragic death of her father leaves Lea shattered and she runs; from her life, from her town, and from Austin. Now she's recently divorced and back to her childhood town to take care of her dying mother, but coming to terms with her past isn't quite so easy when the boy that stole her heart those years ago is now the man that still makes it pound.
Sometimes in life, you're only given the shot at something beautiful once, and when you have it in your grasp, you'll do anything to keep it, even if you end up crushing it in the process.

To say that Austin isn't happy to see Lea again is definitely an understatement. When she left, she took what was left of his heart along with her. He's bitter, angry, and the fact that she still draws him in like she did all those years ago doesn't make it easier.

Now if you know me then you know that I love me my angry lust thing, so of course I gobbled this all up like a starved maniac. It was utterly delicious. Underneath Austin's anger there was always this undercurrent of lust that practice crackled with electricity.

Even though I wanted to hate Lea for the way she walked away from everything those years ago, it was hard to do with the person she grew into. Surprisingly, she was a very endearing character if not a little broken. Though I gotta say, I did love the way that Austin began to build her back up piece by piece.

Fighting to Breathe was just one of those extremely satisfying and swoony second chance romances that I love to read about. While it may not have been that all encompassing 5 star read, it was a solid 4. Aurora introduced several secondary characters that I'm already curious to read about (especially Ben, even if he already got his HEA). This is definitely a series that is going to my auto-buy list and one I highly recommend to all fans of this author.
This is us, baby. This is where we were meant to be..

Lea lost her father to the see when she was 17 years. Knowing that her boyfriend and the man she intended to marry in a few weeks, Austin, loved the sea as much as her father she decided she would not go through the pain of losing him the same way. But she couldn’t ask him to choose between her and his life so she decides to go away, 15 years later, after a bad marriage and with a dying mother she’s back into their hometown, where she and Austin reunite again. Could this be their second change or some things are just too late to happen?

This was a slightly different book from Aurora Rose Reynolds. Definitely more emotional and pulling some heartstrings. There was moments I found myself tear eyed thinking that was just not fair. There was *very* minor details that put me a little off, but in the end of day I’m not only a sucker for second-chance romances, I’m also a sucker for Aurora’s romances so the two of them put together are pretty much a win for me. If you’re looking for an emotional second-chance romance, with steamy moments, an amazing hero and a great storyline you have to give this book a chance.

Characters Development: Lea was sweet and I understand that her life wasn’t easy and that she had to deal with unimaginable circumstances… but still, she had to cry so much? She spend half of the book feeling / being the victim and to be fair, that put a little off. I really liked how protective and sweet Austin could be. He was a traditional Aurora’s hero and if you like them (I do!!), you’ll love him.

Lea and Austin found the love of their lives in high school. It is so rare to find your forever love at a young age, but they just knew. That is until Lea’s dad died while working as a commercial fisherman. Seeing as that was Austin dream too, she is terrified of losing him and runs.

It takes fifteen years for Lea to come back and it’s only because her mom is dying. She knows seeing that Austin has moved on will break her, so she has avoided coming home. It may appear Austin has moved on, but all of his relationships have been empty. He is still pining for the one that got away.

I would have fought or us, even if that meant loving her enough for the both of us.

This is a crazy fast read and I enjoyed every minute of it. The love between Austin and Lea is sweet and it’s a forever kind of love. I loved seeing them reconnect and get to know each other again. Seeing Lea finally find her happiness and place, was the highlight for me. I felt so much for her. It’s hard to come home after running, to admit you were wrong and try to find your place again.

I am not the biggest fan of miscommunication and running, but I still really enjoyed this read. It is a quick, sexy and provided the perfect escape. I highly recommend if you are in the mood for second chance romance with lots of heart and steamy scenes.

TITLE: Fighting to Breathe)
AUTHOR: Aurora Rose Reynolds
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
PUBLICATION: July 7th, 2015
MY RATING: 4 STARS

So beautifully written, a story that just sucks you in, a second chance at love, a HEA ending to a poignant tale, true love never runs smoothly..

A sad bittersweet story..

I've been stalking this book after I fell in love with the beautiful cover, couldn't believe it when this landed on my kindle..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Austin: Has always appeared older than he is, his dark blond hair is shaggy, his jaw covered in an ever present layer of scruff, his eyes will forever be my favourite thing about him. The crystal blue reminds me of the glaciers near my house.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Fighting To Breathe Starts off with Austin and Lea making plans for the future after they graduate, Lea knew he was the one for her..

Austin has been my boyfriend since I was sixteen, we talked about getting married as soon as we graduate high school, ever since the day I laid eyes on him I knew he would be my husband.

But the sudden tragic death of her father changed all that, living in a small fishing village she didn't want to go down the same path her mother did with losing a loved one..

Her fathers boat disappeared after he called in a mayday, the body was never recovered.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Fifteen long years later Lea has finally come back home, but instead of it being a happy reunion she's there for the sole purpose to look after her mother during her finale days..

I wanted her fifteen years ago, and I still fucking want her now. There isn’t a single part of me that doesn’t know she’s my future, but we have a lot of shit to deal with before we even think about heading down that path, because once we start, there will be no turning back.

A touching tale of loss and friends banding together

I hate we had fifteen years stolen from us, but know that if things go my way, we’ll have sixty to make up for it

I've only read one other book by this author which I didn't enjoy but this one, this book I did enjoy, it grabs you as soon as you flick that first page, who doesn't love a second chance at love kind of story, this won't be the last I'll be reading from this author I'll definitely be reading others she has install for us readers..

4 Second Chance Stars

Now that's what I call a second chance romance and an Alpha man who knows what he wants and stops at nothing to get it.

This story tugged at all my emotions and I fell in love with the town, the friends, and our main characters - Lea and Austin.

Ms Reynolds never disappoints in engaging the reader and her character development is right on target. The hurt, anger, love, and hesitation are eminent throughout.

Perfect book to load on your e-reader before heading to the pool or beach!

Fifteen years ago, Lea Lamb's world spun out of control. Not knowing how to deal with the loss of her father, she ran from the people that cared about her. Austin Wolf lost the girl he cared about more than anyone else when Lea ran, but he never forgot her and never forgave her for leaving. Now, Lea is back to take care of her dying mother, and back in Austin's sights. He's not going to give her up so easily this time.

Fighting to Breathe is a beautiful story of loss and survival. Austin and Lea have been apart for fifteen years and their lives have taken them in two different directions, but the love they have for each other will bring them back home to one another. I loved reading about the struggles they each had to face and how they overcame them.

I really liked the characters and reading about how their lives changed after they weren't together anymore. Austin was angry that Lea left him but once she was back he didn't fight the inevitable, and knew they were meant to be together. It was refreshing to have a Hero that didn't fight the attraction and his feelings, instead he fought for Lea.

This story was different than Aurora Rose Reynolds' usual stories but just as good. It was a great start to this new series and I already can't wait to read more about this town and the characters we got glimpses of.

Emotional, touching, heartbreaking, and yet so breathtakingly beautiful!! These are some of the words that comes to mind when I think of Fighting To Breathe by Aurora Rose Reynolds. This book was an emotional gripping tale of loss, love, acceptance and second chances.

#FightingToBreathe

Fighting to Breathe is one of those emotional tales that you must experience. Experience the loss, heartache, sadness, anger, love, and most importantly learning to cope whether it be losing someone you love to death or letting go of a first love. When we really think about it, breathing is what we do and need to survive. Like every breathe, it represents every moment of our life. And in this book, Ms, Reynolds takes readers on a emotional journey of Lea Lamb and Austin Wolf as they struggle with their past and what the future holds for them. Can someone who is drowning in sorrow find the reason to breathe?

Lea and Austin's journey to forgiveness and second chances instantly stole my heart. I loved that Ms. Reynolds showcased pure raw emotions that every readers could understand and feel. This book was a heart-tugging read that hit home for me because losing someone is something that everyone deals with differently. But what I loved about this book was that she didn't just make us feel the pain, loss, and sadness but she allowed her readers to believe in the power of hope and love. Hope that tomorrow will be better. And most importantly, love heals.

What I loved about Fighting to Breathe was the simplicity and how Ms. Reynolds reminds us that life is too short. Life is about living. And living is breathing. So if you are looking for a book, where readers are reminded to take a deep breathe and let go. Let go of the emotional burdens, let go of the anger, let go of the sadness... and just breathe.

Decided to go ahead and give it a chance. Was completely safe as neither are with anyone else after seeing each other again.

There is no OW drama. You see the ex hook up twice and she doesn't cause any problems for them. No crazy stalking she tries once to make it seem like there is something more between them but it was insignificant. It's never brought up again or has any impact on their reuniting/relationship.

I'd have to say I was just bored because nothing really happens in the book and it takes till 55% for them to actually give it a go again. 70% till they actually sleep with each other again. Most of the book is her crying over something. There was more focus on the heroines sick mother and her going through the pain of losing her mother than the actual relationship.

For the safety gang that don't like that he had feelings for someone else. It's only mentioned once and it actually didn't really bother me. They were just talking about their past and it was only mentioned once. He realized he didn't love the woman (Lily from Until lily) but I obviously could have lived without that comment at all. Was a pretty short read so at least it was only .99c

However, after thinking about it again I think it actually did bother me. The heroine obviously never got over the hero and never really loved her husband anyway. He was just a way for her to get over the hero when she thought he had moved on. On the other hand, the hero obviously cared about lots of the women he slept with during their 15 year separation. Not to mention that the people he was with or cared about (i.e. Lily from Until Lily) were nice women that he actually really could have seen himself have a future with. Why was he the only one to have real genuine feelings and they were nice women. The heroine gets a guy who cheats?
I felt like she was depressed or heartbroken over the loss of him more than he ever was. It felt more like it was convenient that she came back and he could have lived and moved on with someone else easily.

I'm actually really looking forward to Zach's book. Wonder how the author is going to explain giving up your kid for adoption.

Most of the time, I wait for the series to finish. But when I saw this, I thought to start it already and just did it. And I loved it! Austin and Lea were a high school sweetheart and they had plans for their future like getting married. But something happened and Lea walked away from their town and left Austin. After years of not being there, Lea decided to come back because of her sick mom. And that's where they met again. At first, Austin really hated her. They're fighting for their attraction to each other. And when Austin knew the truth, that Lea wasn't able to move on from him, they started to become friends and later on fixed their relationship. I love the story especially the epilogue. Lea was able to accept what happened in the past and moved on. Have a family of her own. It was a really great second chance love story.

“I love you, Lea. I always have and I always will, even in death. You’re my family, and I’m yours”.

Like with any author you've had some good (and not so good) books from, I was a tiny bit scared to read this one. The synopsis sounded amazing and I got that feeling you get when you first find out what a book is about and you think "oh man, this is going to be awesome!" but still, lately I've been disappointed with books. Thankfully, Aurora Rose Reynolds latest book "Fighting to Breathe" was a big winner in my book!

I'm not going to give you anything else about the story besides the synopsis because really, it tells you everything you need to know. What I will tell you is that I was sucked in from the first page in the prologue and I honestly could not stop reading until the end. It's because of this book that I finally downloaded the Kindle reading app on my phone so I could sneak away and read at work. I've never done that before because usually no matter how good a book is, I can wait until I get out to continue. But with this one, I couldn't help myself. I had to know!

I’m such a sucker for second chance romances and this book was no exception. It killed me that they spent so much time apart (15 years!) and I hated hearing about their past relationships and attempts to move on but I’ve got to admit in a way it made their reconciliation 1000x’s better. Like finally they were back to where they belonged. Both characters are easily likable and I don't think Leah annoyed me once and she had many opportunities to do so.

My small problems with the book was that I felt it was too short. At times things went by too fast and too easily to be realistic and I wished we had spent more time seeing them reconnect. There was also this overuse of the word "pardon" which I found to be extremely irritating at times but besides these two things, I can't find anything else bad to say about it.

This book is definitely my favorite from this author so far and I can only hope that she'll continue to pop out more books like this!

"I remember everything, Lea, every conversation, every touch, every kiss, every single thing about you, about us. I remember it all."

This was an engaging and heartwarming second chance love story that draws you in from the very beginning.

Lea and Austin were high school sweethearts, two people meant to be together. However, when Lea's father dies in a fishing accident, Lea's fears cause her to run away from her family, her home and from Austin. Now, fifteen years later she's back home to take care of her mother and old wounds and hurts are resurrected.

Neither has ever really stopped loving the other. It's inevitable that they'll run into each other in their small town, but which emotion will win out when they're finally in each other's presence...hurt, fear, longing, anger, passion...love?

You definitely know what you're going to get when you pick up an Aurora Rose Reynolds book. And she definitely put her stamp on Austin...an alpha male filled with fierce possessiveness, tender affection, primal passion and impenetrable love.

"I wanted her fifteen years ago, and I still fucking want her now. There isn't a single part of me that doesn't know she's my future, but we have a lot of shit to deal with before we even think about heading down that path, because once we start, there will be no turning back."

I loved the way he took care of Lea. Lea, who didn't know she was battling so much more from her past. More vulnerable than she let on, and cracked in places where she thought were healing. I wanted to be angry with her actions, and believe me at times I was very frustrated with her, but when everything came full circle I understood everything more. There was so much more lurking beneath the surface, a deeper pain that Lea didn't even realize she was carrying.

Austin and Lea were clearly meant for each other in every possible way. No amount of trepidation, hurt or fear could keep their passion and love at bay.

"As for you and me, we're inevitable, Lea, and I know you feel it too. I'm drawn to you in a way that even if fifty years passed, I would still crave you on a primal level."

This is just the book to pick up when you're looking for a swoony, emotional and sweet read for a rainy Sunday afternoon or a day at the beach. It's a great "one sitting" book that will engage you from the first page to the last and leave you feeling satisfied when you're done.

I'm definitely looking forward to continuing with this series and am intrigued with the little taste we got of the next couple. My interest has been piqued....I see the potential for lots of tissues.

3.5 Fighting to Breathe Stars

This was a sweet sad story about a second chance love.

Lea has to come home for family reasons, only to be in the same town as the one that got way.

Austin knew Lea was coming back but he is still so hurt over the past.

It really was a sweet tale of love and healing. Even though Lea goes through a lot I never thought she was weak or a weak kind of character I think she just didn’t know how to deal with everything that gets shot her way.

Austin I found to be awesome and understanding. I loved that he was so good about everything. I kind of wished he had gotten mad a time or two though, I think that would have made the story just that much more. Like he was fighting to breathe as well. You get the sense he is but you don’t feel it like you do with Lea.

Over all I very much enjoyed this book. :)

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

“It’s always been you … There has never been anyone else for me but you.”

4 second chance stars

I’m a sucker for a second chance romance, and this one is an absolutely beautiful story, full of all of the swoony moments that I love. It’s a very short read and I feel like it needed more build up to become truly amazing, but it’s still a great story, and I really enjoyed it.

Lea and Austin were childhood sweethearts. Completely absorbed in each other and blissfully happy, they dreamed of graduating high school, getting married and living their HEA together. Then Lea’s life was turned upside down by the death of her beloved father. Overcome by grief and suddenly terrified by the possibility of more devastation in her future, she runs away, leaving Austin and the rest of her life behind her.

She goes to College, makes a life for herself and tries to move on, even getting married. And now, fifteen years later and with her broken marriage behind her, she returns to her small home town to care for her ailing mother and is very quickly confronted with the man that she was never able to get over.

Austin was destroyed when Lea left him. He spent years searching for her with no success. He has tried to move in the meantime, but nobody has ever meant anything to him like she did. At first he is fuming with rage at her return, but as secrets from the past are revealed, and with each encounter making it more and more obvious that they are still incredibly drawn to each other, he realises that this is his chance to finally claim the future he’s always wanted.

“I wanted her fifteen years ago, and I still fucking want her now. There isn’t a single part of me that doesn’t know she’s my future, but we have a lot of shit to deal with before we even think about heading down that path, because once we start, there will be no turning back.”

Lea and Austin’s reunion is beautiful. He’s a total alpha, and is incredibly driven to get his girl back, but Lea doesn’t exactly need a lot of convincing. They have issues they need to deal with, which they do, and their coming together is sweet, functional, swoony, and incredibly passionate.

His eyes go soft and he takes a step toward me, touching my cheek. “I remember everything, Lea, every conversation, every touch, every kiss, every single thing about you, about us. I remember it all.”

“We’re inevitable, Lea, and I know you feel it too. I’m drawn to you in a way that even if fifty years passed, I would still crave you on a primal level.”

But as much as I loved it, it just felt too rushed. The book is only 174 pages, and as keen as I was to get to the good stuff, I would have liked more build up. The story seems to jump from meaningful scene to meaningful scene with none of that in that ‘middle stuff’ that creates the wonderful sense of emotion and anticipation that I love in a good romance. Reynolds has given us a truly beautiful story, but because it moves so quickly I didn’t get as drawn into it as I would have liked, and sadly I think a really good opportunity has been missed.

But having said that, I did really enjoy this book. The writing is gorgeous (despite the fast pace), I really liked the characters, and the love story was absolutely beautiful with a nice amount of drama that never overtakes the story or feels disingenuous to the characters. There’s even an epilogue which finishes everything off perfectly. If it was a bit slower moving and more detailed, it would have totally been a 5 star book.

Still a great read – 4 stars.

4 STARS!

I didn't know what to expect from this one because Aurora Rose Reynolds was a new author to me. What I didn't expect was to love this book this much!!

Austin and Lea were together when they were 16. They were supposed to get married as soon as they graduated because Austin already knew in his heart that Lea was the love of his life.
Unfortunately, tragedy strikes and Lea decides to leave town and run away from everyone, including Austin.
Fifteen years later, she comes back because her mother has just a few months left to live..

Will Austin be able to forgive her for all the pain she has caused to him? Will Lea overcome all her fears?

It's been a while since I read a book that made me feel like this one. I had butterflies in my stomach, a lump in my throat, goosebumps all over me..and I also shed a few tears because my emotions were all over the place.

It felt like the events in the story were happening to me in the first place.

Austin and Lea were both amazing characters. Austin was sweet and caring and you couldn't help but love him from the first moment; Lea was a fragile woman who had a difficult past and who just needed some light and happiness in her life.

This is a great second chance romance story and I can't recommend it enough. It's a book that you certainly don't want to miss!
I'm really looking forward to reading more by this author.

In this book, we briefly met Shelby and the first thing I could think of was "I need to read her story". Then at the end of the book I read that it's coming next year! Can't wait!

+++ 4.5 SHOOTING STARS! +++

"Looking out at the ocean, you sometimes forget it's dangerous.
The sea is like a woman; you have to respect her, listen to what she's telling you, and never ever doubt that she has the power to destroy you."

Fighting to Breathe was a beautiful second chance romance that will leave you breathless.

What I love about Aurora's writing is that she sets the scene perfectly in order to hit you right in the gut. This story was so raw, sad, intense, beautiful, and real!

Austin and Lea are high school sweethearts with plans to marry after graduation and build a future together but a tragedy ultimately shatters their perfect dreams.

Fast forward 16 years and Lea returns back to the small town where she left her true love behind. Things are a little rocky and soon truths are revealed proving that love can prevail above all.

I loved Austin's grunting ways and his need to protect Lea. Lea was broken and fragile but she always remained strong with a smile on her face. Life separated them all those years ago but fate brought them back together.

This is one enchanting and inspiring love story that will have you fighting to breathe and cheering along side the characters. Aurora you've once again proven to be the queen of the Alpha males. Nicely done *cue the applause*.

fighting to breathe live

Heart felt. Emotionally gripping. A second chance at love Romance.

fighting to breathe teaser 1

Fighting to Breathe is my second Aurora Rose Reynolds story and my favorite thus far. These two protagonists go through life’s unpredictable ringer, and feel its joys, its splinters, and its heart ache.

I’ve always loved love story’s that birthed at a young age, which this story managed to hit that quality right on, but sadly it ends in tatters.

Now fast forward, 15 years, and a lot of things have changed except that connection they have for one another.

But, as this is a story, there is miscommunications, misgivings, as well as misunderstandings and other obstacles that need to be addressed—and, that’s where things get tricky.

How will this story end for the both of them?

And is there a truly a HEA for either of them?

Am I the only one who was super disappointed with this read? I'm a fan of Aurora Rose but this one didn't even feel like it had her writing style. the story was a second chance of love story but it fell so flat. the characters were bland. the story lacked and sense of intensity. It was just a blah read from beginning to end. nothing about it felt genuine or realistic. It wasn't even 200 pages so needless to say I found it no where close to its $3.99 price tag. This one was just a waste of my time and money. certainly not a book id recommend.

Austin and Lea were high school sweethearts intending to get married after graduation. Unfortunately, something horrific happened in Lea's life and she cannot live the life they imagined.

FIFTEEN years later, she's back in town because her mother is dying. Needless to say, she hasn't seen Austin in all that time or really, heard much about him besides he's happy and he's moved on. However, things are not all that simple.

Naturally, she sees Austin right away...and with another woman and it's pretty clear that Austin is harboring some pretty intense feelings especially when he tells her later that he hates her. (But we all know what that really means in romance books!)

Lea's Mom is trying to make amends with everyone before she passes and the one she tells Austin is a game changer. But she does ask him one favor...and that's to be there for Lea when her time comes.

description

And he is there for her and because of that, they finally start talking...thank goodness.

But with her Mom's passing, someone from Lea's past shows up causing complications. Luckily, Austin and Lea are pretty much past any of those problems but it was entertaining.

I really enjoyed Austin and Lea...Austin was something else and quite enjoyable. I really felt for Lea...trying to move on and then dealing with her Mother's death. Unfortunately, she hadn't really dealt with the things that caused her to run in the first place and they come back to haunt her in a BIG way.

Once the dust is settled...things are really sweet. I love how much they've always felt for each other. The epilogue is everything you would think it should be.

It was just ok for me. There were some elements that were missing. This one didn't have the Mayson-brothers-factor for me.

enjoyed this one. it was nice to see a whole new story from this author even if the H/h are much the same as her others. it's an emotional one but maybe didn't impact me the way it seems to have others. i think this is because it's on the shorter side and all happens very fast.. or maybe i am just cold hearted. it's still an easy read and i would recommend it to second chance romance lovers. i am already very intrigued to see zach's story which is up next!

It's me. I'm growing tired of this type of book...so much drama, so many unrealistic, ott situations. So much crying and GREAT BIG ISSUES that really aren't that big. It was okay, but it runs into the fifty others I've read that just don't touch on the human spirit. For me. I'm sure it does for others.

5 Little Lamb stars

All I can say is, WOW! I was curious about Austin after Until Lily , so when I started to see snippets of the story on Ms. Reynolds Facebook page, I was hooked and knew I want to read it. When I was offered the opportunity to read the material, I jumped at it. I was not disappointed.

Austin Wolf had tried to move on from Lea Lamb, when she up and disappeared from Cordova, Alaska after her father's death at sea...and he thought he had. She'd moved on. She'd gotten married. Now she was back, because her mother was dying. All he wanted to do was stay our of her way and she wanted to stay out of his.

Lea knew that everyone blamed her for leaving Austin 15 years ago. That was the price of living in a small town. Everyone knew everyone and knew your business. When she left, she had good reasons. She didn't want to be there when fate took Austin from her like it took her father. But she had to come back to take care of her mom, the only family she had left. Especially after divorcing her husband who had cheated on her.

description

But when secret betrayals are revealed and old resentments are put aside, can Austin and Lea be friends again... or maybe even more.

description

I loved this book. There were so many moment that had me crying, yet hopeful that life wouldn't be so cruel to two people who were torn apart by grief and lies. I loved Lea. She didn't force herself on anyone it the town of Cordova. She was just there to spend her remaining time with her mother. She didn't want to hurt anyone else. She didn't want anyone to be uncomfortable with her presence. But life can throw you some curveballs and they did with Lea and Austin.

I just love Ms. Reynolds writing and can't wait to read about Zach and Shelby. I knew right away that they were a story that needed to be told.

4.5 Stars

I absolutely love books by Aurora Rose Reynolds. That being said when I read the description of Fighting to Breathe I was scared...See I am one of those who likes angst and emotional books but I do not, AT ALL, like cheating in the romance books I read and now days it is hard to tell. I was scared of what made Lea leave...then I got a sneak peek at the prologue and I was DRAWN in....I wasn't going to worry about my fear because I needed to trust that ARR would not do me wrong.

I've been in a book slump where so many books I've read seem similar to others or there is so much sex in them I get bored and I start skimming the scenes (I know...I said too much sex? I have a hard time believing too). I am so glad I kept with it and read Fighting to Breathe. FTB is a second chance romance, about two people who never should have been apart, Austin and Lea were those high school sweethearts who would have went the distance. A tragedy strikes and a misguided, well-intentioned Lea leaves home and Austin, devastating not only only Austin but herself. When she unexpectedly returns home all the feelings return, hurt, betrayal, lust, confusion and a deeply hidden love. Austin hates her and the rest of her world is crashing around her, but Lea digs in and goes through a heartbreaking emotional journey. Austin starts thawing and tries to help her make it through it. Lea and Austin's story is full of ups, downs, tears, laughs and so oh so sexy times.

Austin....he is my new BBF, he truly loves Lea and you can feel his love and emotions jump off the pages. Such a sweet, sexy ALPHA, tender when he needs to be and a beast all other times.

Fighting to Breathe is a breath of fresh air for this romance reader. It is an emotional second chance romance about two people who should have never been separated, it is a ROMANCE no over the top angst just a tragically beautiful romance that left me smiling hours after I read it.

If you are a fan of romance this is a must read. Fighting to Breathe would be a great beach read!

Sometimes in life all we need is to curl up somewhere comfortable, grab a glass of wine and dive into a book you know you're going to love. Ms. Reynolds is able to make this happen for me time and time again. Austin and Lea's story is one that has long stayed with me after the kindle refused to swipe...not for lack of trying because I wanted MORE.

A love story that began when they were kids, events made the story shorter than either wanted, and a life winding down brings it back to the fore-front. Hard to swallow at times, painful to watch, but the beauty of a true love is knowing that the foundation of it is always there, you just have to remember the strength of it and trust it will support the weight of the past..

I loved Austin, even when I wanted to punch him upside his bearded jaw, he held my heart. Wanting him to let go of the hurt and be able to see into his future, you rally behind him and cheer with every growl he makes. Lea was broken, scared and allowed her fear to lead her into a life she never wanted, truly lived or thrived in. She was waiting for it to all fall apart so perhaps she could finally lead the life she had started all those years before.

Heartbreaking, inspiring, first love at it's finest. Ms. Reynolds does it again...
