When Heather Shepherd goes on a pre-birthday outing to a skydiving range, the last thing she expects to find is a crime scene and a distraught mother.
Heather is horrified, and decides to take on yet another case, whether Ryan and the good officers at the Hillside Police Department need her or not. She ignores the suggestion that she take a week off for her birthday, and sets off on another adventure, armed with her keen sense of justice, a bestie who’s more squeamish than helpful and several boxes of Lavender Grape Dust Donuts. But this mystery is a true challenge: almost every suspect comes from within the victim’s close family and boy, are there a lot of them. The answers are close, but threaten to slip between Heather’s fingers, even as an arrest is made.
Heather must get to the bottom of this one or risk a killer on the loose and the chance of just the worst birthday party ever.
It’s almost Christmas in Hillside, Texas but before the gift-giving can begin Heather Shepherd, owner of Donut Delights, has her birthday to celebrate. This is her Birthday Week and Heather doesn’t really want a big deal made of it but her friends and family have something else in mind. They are not going to let their Queen of Donuts’ birthday pass without doing something special.
Amy Givens is Heather’s best friend and she wants to do something extraordinary to celebrate – skydiving! Skydiving? Heather wants nothing to do with that but agrees to go to Just Jump It Skydiving with Amy to check the place out but if Amy thinks Heather is going to put on a parachute she has another thing coming.
As the get to the establishment they see what looks like clothes lying on the ground. Once they get close enough to investigate they find that it’s a woman’s body on the ground and she died because her parachute didn’t open when she was skydiving.
Hillside Police Detective and Heather’s husband, Ryan Shepherd, is already on the premises and explains that the dead woman, Kiki Folger, was in her 20’s, and it looks like her parachute was tampered with. Yet another murder has found its way to Hillside. Once again Heather, as a private investigator, will help her husband and the police department find who murdered the young woman.
Of course there are lots of suspects including Kiki’s 18 year old sister Laura Folger, who is called Lollipop; Joe Gankin the owner of Just Jump It Skydiving; Kiki’s father, Henry Folger; the people who were supposed to have checked Kiki’s parachute before she jumped, her mother, Helena; and the skydiving instructor, Vaughn.
As Heather and Amy investigate they find out that Kiki was not well liked so anyone could have tampered with the parachute cords that ended with her death. But Heather will find out who ended Kiki’s life.
Peppermint Glazed Murder is the 28th book in author Susan Gillard’s popular Donut Hole Cozy Mystery Book Series 28. Just like the previous 27 books this is an easy, fun, read and a great way to spend a few hours.

It's Heather Shepherd's birthday week, and her BFF Amy has the perfect gift in mind for Heather -- a skydiving experience. Despite Heather's misgivings, she accompanies Amy to the skydiving school. As they approach the school, Heather notices a police car's lights. She quickly realizes the police vehicle belongs to her detective husband Ryan who is there to investigate the death of a skydiver. With Heather on scene, odds are it's not an accident.
The Donut Hole series offers readers a quick, easy, entertaining read. Heather's family and friends are characters I've come to enjoy and I hope Susan Gillard keeps telling their stories.

Heather skydiving?? That is what her bestie Amy wants her to do for her birthday. Well Heather does agree to check out the place, and when she gets there finds her hubby Ryan checking out a crime scene. Ryan tells her to take the week off with her birthday coming up and let the Hillside Police chandler this case. Heather is not going to sit on the sidelines and do nothing. Another fun quick read in this series. I love the family that Heather, Ryan and Lilly have become. Looking forward to the next book in this series!

I'm just reading these pell-mell, so I felt a bit lost as to who's who here. My fault. I should read them in order. Heather Shepherd's friend wants to treat her to a birthday skydiving present. Heather's not sure that's a fab idea, so they head over to the range to check it out. When they arrive, there's a crime scene. Heather teams up with Ryan to figure out whodunnit, all while running her doughnut shop. Short little cozy mystery.
Heather's birthday is coming up and best bud Amy wants her to go skydiving. Heather isn't even interested in talking about but Amy talks her into at least driving out there to check it out and they come up a Heather's hubby and a murder. This one is crazy with to many suspects. Heather has trouble with this one and the ending will surprise you.
This was one of the better homey stories I've read in this series. I cried at the end. The catching of the killers wasn't really a part of the story. It needed more action.
I enjoyed reading this book, even though I was predictable. But I did miss about this book is that Kate nor Geoff were in this story. What I can tell you is that I really do enjoy the end of the book. Definitely a tearjerker and I wouldn't have expected it
Heather Shepherd's birthday almost here. Her best friend Amy wants to give a special gift that Heather will never forget. She decides on a skydiving jump. Amy talks Heather into riding out to Just Jump It Skydiving to check the place out and see how it is done. When they arrive the police are there including Heather's husband, Detective Ryan Shepherd. Seems there was a death resulting from a sky jump. Was it an accident or a murder?? Interesting, zany, feisty characters become part of Heather's investigation. Dave, the dog and Cupcake, the car make an appearance. This is the book #28 in the Donut Hole Cozy Mystery series. It can be read as a stand. An enjoyable and quick read. I volunteered to read N Advanced Reader Copy. Thanks to the author for the eBook. My opinion is my own.
This is the 28th novella in Susan Gillard’s Donut Hole Cozy Mystery series and is a quick, easy, and clean read, but editing and proofing is lacking.
Heather Shepherd isn’t looking forward to her upcoming birthday but all her friends are. Amy wants to take her skydiving and convinces her to visit Just Jump It Skydiving just to check it out even though Heather is adamant she will not do it. When they arrive, they notice a police presence and discover a woman. Kiki Folger, has died because her parachute didn’t open when she was skydiving. Ryan wants Heather to skip the investigation she insists on participating. Heather helps solve the case and celebrates her birthday with her employees, friends, and family.

With Heather's birthday fast approaching, Amy thinks the perfect gift for her is to go skydiving. Even though jumping out of a plane falls nowhere on her bucket list, she agrees to visit Just Jump It Skydiving. As they are approaching the location, Heather, notices a police car and Ryan who is checking out an incident involving the company. I think we all know what happens next! While I love the way Heather investigates and feels so strongly about finding the guilty party, what really got me about this time were the personal relationships she has with her family, friends and employees. I had happy tears running down my cheeks as I turned the last page. A must read!

Heather Shepherd's birthday is coming but she is not looking forward to it. Amy wants to take her skydiving but when they go to check out the place they find out that someone has died on a jump. Ryan wants Heather to not help investigate and focus on her birthday and Lilly but she can't stay away. After solving the case they get together for her birthday and with a special present she decides birthdays aren't so bad. Susan Gillard outdid herself on this one. I was shocked at who the killer was and how they did it and shed a few tears at the end.
Heather Shepherd is not looking forward to her birthday this week and she will use anything to try to get out of it. Even working a new murder. Her friend Amy comes up with a unique way for Heather to celebrate her birthday, skydiving. Amy convinces her to check out "Just Jump It Skydiving". "Fortunately" for Heather, that is where they find a new body. A skydiver whose parachute didn't open.
This book felt a little like a rinse and repeat plot for me, but that might be because it uses a very common plot that is found in a lot of mystery books. The death my Parachute was interesting though. Though I will say that the coincidence that Heather and Amy happened to be going to the air field right after the accident is a bit much.
The victim and her family really wasn't expanded on much and I felt like had the book been a little longer we could have gotten to know about the family and victim more. After the last book, I was a little disappointed about that aspect. The book was also heavily focused on Heather's impending birthday which I felt took away from the story.
