Rate this book
Ayesha is a young travel-writer, who has been stumbling along in her search for love. Nursing a broken heart, she decides to visit her parents in Ahmedabad for a short reprieve. Even as she struggles to resign herself to a marriage ‘arranged’ by her parents, she runs into their neighbour’s attractive son.

Parth is more than happy to spend time in his own company, in the comforts of his ‘resort’. His plan to take some time off before he plunges head long into his career lands him in front of a lovely girl. The pain in her eyes belies her warm smile and he finds himself irresistibly drawn to her. Yet he knows that this cannot end well, for any intimacy with her is forbidden.

Fate plays a cruel trick with Ayesha when it ends her search for love in a cul-de-sac, a point of no return. Ayesha is distraught when she realizes that the one person she has finally fallen in love with, is not hers to be had.

They part ways with memories that will return to haunt them and questions that will remain unanswered, until another tryst, seven years later on the other side of the world.

Unexpectedly Adorable.

I wasn't expecting this novel to be that good, that I would be gonna like it. I got this book from Giveaway contest from the Publishers in the exchange of the honest reviews; but from last 2-3 books from same giveaway disappointed me, So I was having same prejudice for this too. But Nope. its quite a good, clean and like-able book.

I really enjoyed the book though there was bit of confusion while shifting of the different times in-between. Blending of two different periods could have been made more better with the editorial touch.
However, that was just a matter of time to finish this short, sweet book.
Its was cast very well with every single thought on the non-vulgarity. There were emotions and practicality in the story.

For me its 4.0/5.0

I enjoyed this little romance novel by Piyushi Dhir. I really like the cute illustrations at the start of each chapter too. Looking forward to reading #1.5 to find out the alternate ending. I won In Search of Love through Goodreads Giveaways.

In Search of Love – author Piyushi Dhir’s debut novel (also my College’s alumna, yay!) – is a short, easy, fluid read, that sort of reminds me of a web-series – fun and fast paced. It follows our two main characters, Parth and Ayesha, who meet and fall in love within a span of seven days.
“Till where could she explain it as friendship? Was she doing something wrong?”

The plot might seem improbable but it is not. They are neighbours who happen to meet each other on the terrace. Parth was a likeable man, I couldn’t help but smile at all the cheesiness that these two had going. It was such a cute story! The writing style was impressive. It was very readable and didn’t waste time on things that weren’t important. This is a very short novel (read: 135 pages) and writing such fleshed out characters would have been tough, however Dhir pulls it off with no qualms. You actually start investing emotionally in the lives of these people.

However, there is a reason why our main characters don’t end up in a “happily ever after”, at the beginning. The reason behind it, is not really a spoiler, but I would rather you read it yourself to know it.
“Is the feeling of love
the sharing of lives
of pain and joy
of sorrows and smiles”

The setting was simple, yet dense. The characters were artists in a way, Ayesha was a poet on the inside and Parth was a sketcher/painter. I loved how the author explored this alternative side of the characters, rather than just defining them by their jobs. Though this was a sweet romantic story, I did have some issues with it. Firstly, Parth was so causal within the span of three days, he started addressing her as “Baby” and “Girl” which is fine, if you’re into that sort of talk, but it just felt uncalled for. The other thing which disturbed me a little was Parth’s constant need of “saving” “protecting” Ayesha and her crying in front of Piya (Parth’s sister) for no reason at all. That I felt it was playing into the romantic stereotype a little too much.

On the whole, I did truly appreciate the love story. It wasn’t very mushy, it had fun elements of sarcasm and wit, and there wasn’t any forced humour. And again I reiterate that pulling this off in such few pages, is some great writing. We have character development and character arcs that truly affect the plot line.

And there is a little novella too, with an alternate ending, which sounds very intriguing. I would like to see how that one plays out and have already added that to my next read-pile. Also, the illustrations on the front of each chapter should be one other reason why you should pick this up.

All in all, I was very satisfied with the book and would highly recommend this to people who are looking for a light, happy romantic novel.

In search of love is a short, quick paced romantic story. The story is set in Ahmadabad,Delhi,Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
The story starts with Ayesha a young travel writer nursing broken heart visit her parents in Ahmadabad. There she meet Parth her neighbour's son who is in a committed relationship. Within a span of few days they become close friends sharing their secrets and caring for each other. The bond between two central protagonist tug at your heart. The sweet musings they have after meeting each other will make you smile. The readers will easily relate to the little things they do for each other.Do admit their real feeling or get married to someone else forms the core of the story.

The language used is lyrical and the story is fast paced. She has breathed life into the characters through her writing.Well developed characters and a strong storyline. The author has woven the story with strong fiber of friendship, love, longing, pain and loss. With her lucid storytelling I felt as a part of this story watching the events unfolding in front of my eyes. The story made me emotional at times its hard to love someone when you know it would not have a happy ending.

The only thing that bothered me is the kind of trust Ayesha showed in Parth within a day of their first meeting. It's hard to believe someone so early.

I enjoyed reading the book and would recommend it to anyone who love short fast paced romantic story.

No clichés. No dramas. No fairy-tale. No "Knight in the shining armor"
This is all I wish to read in a romance novel. And yes, I'm convinced.
This was a very quick read as I finished the book in a couple of hours. All these hours, I found myself relaxing under the captivation of the book.
And I have to mention that this is my first "goodreads-giveaway reads" and this would hold a special place always.

This might not be the best books that I've ever read. But still, sometimes, all we need is a little casual read. And a pragmatic one too!

So, if you're looking for a casual-yet-practical romance, then BANG ON!!!

When I read the description of the book, it seemed like an interesting read, but I did not expect too much of it. Honestly, I thought that it was a thin book and I could read it fast enough to put the review up on time, but I was pleasantly surprised with what I found in the book.

The two protagonists meet for a duration of seven days, wherein they find themselves extremely comfortable with each other and form a bond which they themselves don’t quite understand. The female lead, Ayesha, is harbouring a broken heart, and the male lead, Parth, is in a committed relationship and so there is no chance of anything more than friendship happening between them.

However, at certain points, they feel like somewhere they might have crossed the line of friendship and entered into some other territory. It’s a situation I think a number of us can relate to. Sometimes we feel something special brewing with a person, but we know that it all leads nowhere.

Ayesha and Parth find themselves becoming different people when in the company of each other, and also find themselves indulging in things they wouldn’t have otherwise. But as the seven days come to an end, the two friends need to go their separate ways, and realise that whatever they had between them could not continue any longer.

I don’t usually reveal much of the plot in my reviews, but this is quite a thin book, and revealing even a little of the story feels to me like I’m revealing a lot 😀

What worked for me in the story was that the characters felt real and likable, though I have to mention that the story concerns only the protagonists, so they are the only characters we get to know anything much about. The language is simple and the story is not complicated to follow. The pace is quick, and that is the kind that I like. Also, there are no unnecessary details mentioned.

I did have some minor issues with the story, like always 😀 Even though Parth and Ayesha were just friends, he kept caling her “Baby” which was really weird. Do people casually call their friends “baby”? I don’t know 😀 Also, at one point, he just takes Ayesha’s hand in his, on their second meet, and no one feels awkward about it. The twist at the end was unnecessary, and the reasons provided made no sense to me.

Apart from the above mentioned points, I quite enjoyed the book. It was short and sweet, and I liked it. It was a romance novel, and I still enjoyed it, which is something since I don’t enjoy this genre very much. I think it would be a good little read on a short flight, when you want to finish the book by the time you reach your destination.

Would I recommend the book? If you enjoy a short romantic read, which will leave you with a smile, yes, I would recommend it for you.

If you want more in a book than just that, this probably is not the book to go for.

I hope this review was helpful. ❤ 🙂

‘In Search Of Love’ is author Piyushi Dhir’s first of many novels. As the name suggests, the book revolves around the two main protagonists Ayesha & Parth and their feelings for each other. To begin with I liked the cover of the book which depicts a couple under an umbrella with cute heart shaped illustrations above them which is quite in keeping with the theme of the book.

The plot of the novel is solid and the characters are clearly etched out. Without revealing too much, the story in a nutshell is about how Ayesha & Parth met and fell in love without even realising that they did!. It’s about how they ultimately acknowledged their feelings for each after years of separation. My favourite character in the book is undoubtedly Ayesha who is a modern, carefree & independent girl. Despite being a woman of the world, she loves and cares about her family. Also her innate desire to be loved by a man as portrayed in the story only makes her more human. She is definitely someone most Indian girls would identify with. The editing of the novel is tight and I did not find any grammatical errors anywhere which by the way is a big-turn-off for me as far as books are concerned. I also like the pace of the novel, at any given point I did not feel as if the story was being unnecessarily dragged or stretched. In fact, I finished the book in two days flat!. So if you’re looking for a fast paced breezy romantic novel this is the book for you.

The books start with the story of Ayesha who is a travel writer and is in Ahmedabad for a small break to meet her parents. Like every Indian parent, her parents too want her to get married and settled, but Ayesha was in search of true love. Then he meets Parth and the story takes the turn.

This book is a sweet, simple love story where they found each other yet lost each other. Will their love find their way? The story beautifully describes how Ayesha left Parth as she didn't want to lose his friendship. The story holds readers interest right from the start. It develops the eagerness to know what will happen next. Though It was a fast speed story but really enjoyed this roller coaster ride. The plot that author set is really interesting, how we find love at unusual places. The character of Ayesha is really amazing, a strong, bold personality who choose to be independent and decides to travel across with her loving job. The character of Parth, how he takes care of Ayesha, A friend we all wish to have. Their pure friendship is described beautifully by the author. Their conversations were all inflow which gives a realistic feeling. The language used by the author is simple and interesting which grabs the attention of the reader.
Though the story was fast with some unnecessary elements but worth a read. It's all about Friendship, Passion, Family, Romance, and Love. It showed siblings love so beautifully, Love between Parth and pia, Ayesha and Kavita's friendship. How her parents never wanted her to marry in pressure. There was an understanding element between every character which impressed me the Most. I also loved the poems that Ayesha wrote.

It's a Sweet, light heart love story. A good read.

In Search of Love is a short, romantic story that traces the story of Ayesha and Parth as they both try to find love.
Ayesha is a travel-writer, and her character is really loveable. Although the author doesn't do much to show the side of her job, it still makes me happy that she didn't chose a common job and chose something different. Ayesha's character was very relatable to me, and I'm sure it will be to many others too who have had bad relationships in the past. But she is strong and the author has done a great job showing how she had moved on.
The author has done a great job in showing the feelings of the characters. I believe that she has followed 'show rather than tell' rule very well. I could feel the emotions of Ayesha and Parth really well.
Parth is a real sweetheart. I loved how sweet he was to Ayesha and how he helped her when she was crying or in that scene when she had to wear a saree. I instantly loved him when he was first introduced, although the use of 'Mm' by him was a little annoying at times. He, however, was very kind to Ayesha and he was the one who taught that sometimes we had to just let go to have things back. I loved his part of the story. And those midnight talks between him and Ayesha were lovely. The dialogues were good too, it wasn't forced and flowed smoothly.
In Search of Love was fast paced but it was enjoyable. There were, however, some instances that bothered me a little.
Firstly, the time lapse was a bit confusing. It started off with a scene in the Central Station where Ayesha and Parth meet and then the story goes back to the time seven years back when they meet. Then, at around the end of chapter 11, it comes back to the present. It left me a little confused because there wasn't anything indicating the change.
I believe that there were some parts which weren't really necessary. Like for instance, the calling of her ex boyfriend in the middle of the story wasn't really necessary. The story could've done just fine without it. Also, the author mentions that her parents had moved from their usual home but later, Ayesha goes to visit them back there. I think it was a small mistake from the author's side, something that can be overlooked while reading though.
Apart from these things, I enjoyed the story. It was short, sweet and fast with the use of simple words to create a vivid imagine in the mind. It will, however, not be on the top of my recommendation list but this is a great book to get out of a reading slum.

Review

I have been extremely busy at work and that leaves me hardly any time to do any reading. I wanted to read a short read as I have been lazing around the whole day and that is when I picked up this book. The language is easy to understand and the story is fast paced. I loved the choice of words that was used and also the poems which were written so well. The siblings relationship and friendship has been described well. I also loved where the parents did not pressurize their daughter to get married and the characters were portrayed well which impressed me the most. The only thing which I did not like about this book is that where Parth is casual and starts calling Ayesha as baby and girl.

Verdict

Love, pain, relationships and emotions have been described so well. If you are looking for a short and good read This is one book which I can recommend to everyone.

Ayesha is a young travel writer who comes to Ahmedabad for a short visit to meet her parents. Her parents wants to see her settled, and tries to find a match for her. But being heartbroken a number of times, she is not fully ready for this yet. And then she runs into Parth, their neighbour's son and got instantly attracted to him. Parth too, started liking her. They started spending a lot of time, but they both knew that it won't be ending well. . .
So what was that reason, that will not let them end together? Will Ayesha be successful in her search of love?
Piyushi Dhir has penned down a very romantic and sweet love story. The language has been very simple and lucid throughout the book. The book kept me hooked from the very first page, in order to know what finally happens in Parth and Ayesha's life, and I finished it in a couple of hours. If you are looking for a light read in a weekend or holidays, you should definitely read this book.

In Search of Love is a delicately handled romance novel by Piyushi Dhir. It brings out the fact that all stumbling blocks that hurl into a relationship between two people, actually pile up somewhere to become stepping stones to a beautiful life they are meant to share together. The narrative of the story is fluid, sprinkled with graceful verses every now and then. The journey of the protagonists through some fascinating cities across the world like Ahmedabad, London and Amsterdam, only to discover that wherever they went, it was always love waiting at the final destination ,to take them into its arms, is something that will surely resonate with all readers, especially girls who may be delighted to find a friend in Ayesha.

It's the kind of book you'd like to read on a sunny Sunday afternoon when all you need is something short, sweet and happy. A powerful story is one that keeps you hooked. With my short attention span, this one really did! While you'd be eager to know what'll happen next, you'll also be forming a parallel story in your mind and thinking about varied possibilities of each situation. If someone has ever made you feel special, made you smile when everything else was going wrong, made you do things you never imagined you could, then pick up this one for you are bound to find a connect with some parts if not all.
