A woman whose heart has been broken. A man who'd do anything to make her smile. A marriage dragged through hell teeters on the brink of collapse by circumstances beyond their control.
There are things in life no amount of money can fix.
Sam and Dakota are back for the final chapter in their love story.
This is Book 5 of the Pretty Broken Series. It contains adult language, adult situations, and lots of hot sex.
Jeana E. Mann is the award-winning author of billionaire and bad boy romance. Her books focus on second chances and workplace relationships while touching on real-life topics like autism, drug addiction, mental illness, and family dynamics. Her latest release, THE EXILED PRINCE, is available now!
These two are my favorite couple from this series. This book shows some of their struggles after their wedding. The love was still there but this book showed real life struggles that lots of couples go thru that can actually destroy a marriage. But these two are bada$$ and a real power couple. I never get tired of reading about them.
Please tell me that there will be more! I love Sam and Dakota! I don't want to let them go and this book proved that! It was emotional on all levels! Great ending.
“I gave up everything for you once before. I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Loving you isn’t a sacrifice, Kota. It’s a privilege.”
Married again, Sam and Dakota try to adjust to this new reality. But the amount of insane work, the long journeys, Sam's travels, lack of communication and misunderstandings will make these two navigate turbulent waters. Added to this is a scandal involving Sam's family and the confusion is armed. Getting married a second time will be easy, the hard part will be staying together. When an unexpected surprise happens in their lives, each will react in a different way. And even with the shock, the new reality begins to be part of everyday life. But when the tragedy strikes, the marriage that no longer faces a good phase may have its days numbered. Sam despite forgiving, still does not trust Dakota. And she, in turn, is unable to say that she needs him. Two extremely stubborn people, who did not realize that together they are much stronger. Sam's family will represent a large part of the problem between them, with his father and his sister's return adding to the tension. As usual for these two, the journey will not be easy, the path to the final peace will be filled with problems, fights, jealousy and unspoken things. Sam will be able to make you love and hate him at the same time. Dakota even with her strength will succumb in the face of so many blows. The happy ending happens and is more than deserved. With all that they've been through, they deserve a second chance. Or as many as needed. Following their story was an immense pleasure.
Technically this is book five in the series but the third book about Sam and Dakota.
It's okay not to read the other books in the series but its imperative to read book one and two before this one to understand Sam and Dakota's tumultuous relationship.
In this book, Sam and Dakota were able to overcome 90% of their trust issues and got married a second time. I wrote 90% because it wasn't 100%, obviously. This book will give you a glimpse on how difficult it is to be married, stay married and at the same time deal with trust issues on top of going through grief and scandal.
I can't imagine being in Dakota shoes. She's gone through a lot...
Will they pull through? Find out and download your copy.
This book redeems Sam and Dakota in my eyes. The story had my emotions all over the place in the best way possible. After they are married again Sam and Dakota still struggle with long work hours and travel there isn’t much time for intimacy. An unexpected situation brings the couple together and they finally get their happiness.
This installment of the Dakota and Sam sorry is different from the first two about them. It's not about them getting together, but rather about trying to stay together. Some of the drama isn't what a typical couple would go through, but the major stuff is, which really tugged on my heartstrings. Good book, curious to keep going.
I fell in love with Sam and Dakota in their first story, Pretty Filthy Lies. And then what? I did it again with this one. And all the others in between, but especially this one. Jeana Mann wrote two characters that have so much chemistry between them I expected to see smoke coming out of my Kindle every time they met on the pages.
Rarely do I tell people not to read a book, but in this case, you really should read Pretty Filthy Lies first in order to understand why Sam and Dakota, having been married, divorced, and remarried, are still having problems with sorting out all of the facets of their lives, and all the pressures applied from outside influences. It is undeniable that they love each other, but it is also clear from the very beginning that Sam still has issues with 'Kota, and 'Kota still has issues with being married to Sam.
Dakota and Sam have to live with the memories of the decision she made which tore them apart the first time. And even though married, they have to trust, and that is the toughest things to do, especially when the sparks fly every time you get near your mate. This is what I wrote in my review of Pretty Filthy Lies, and it defines them here also: There are things we do in life with all the best intentions that don't turn out well for anyone. And there are things we do 100% for someone else, and that selflessness doesn't pay off either. Dakota defines that. And Sam? He was born to a father who wanted the control, and that meant he wanted to choose everything Sam has ever done in his life. Free will? Nope, even if Sam thought he made his own life, it was proven ten years before that he did not make the choices in his life.
This is a story of reclaiming love, of learning to trust, and of learning that just having love isn't enough, it has to be worked for every single day. There are no easy days.
Just like the previous book, Sam is hard to like sometimes. He spent ten years wanting to get even, and now he's married to the woman he wanted to punish. To say that the two of them have issues that show through their love is an understatement.
Jeana Mann, just like her others, wrote a very very good book here. She is able to weave the worries and the doubts of two people into the fabric of their love and marriage. I enjoyed this series a great deal and can be counted as a fan of Jeana Mann now. I would recommend this book. I think it is entertaining and tells a story that you'll want to read.
It’s a testament of this author’s brilliant writing that this story with a narrow scope is so good. It’s all about Sam and Dakota’s marriage, second time around. They’re around their first anniversary and feeling the stresses of work. They’re starting their new company, and Sam, in his usual driven style, is flying all over the world, securing deals, while Dakota keeps the home office running. Long hours of work, missed calls, playing phone tag, very little alone time, it all starts to pile up and cause stress on their marriage.
Maxwell Seaforth, Sam’s father who caused so much wreckage on their marriage the first time around, is back doing mischief, this time about to ruin their Seaforth heritage. Vanessa, Sam’s middle sister, makes a comeback making demands on Sam to take action and save their legacy. Dakota makes demands on Sam, asking for his attention, his priorities and time together. It’s no wonder it all went up like a pressure cooker.
Sam and Dakota’s relation is front and center in this story, with all the other external stressors acting on their marriage. New secondary characters come up and cause jealous feelings. A tragic event happens that further drives Sam and Dakota apart. They need to decide if their love is strong enough, their devotion and commitment to each other is good enough to overcome their temporary estrangement.
I loved reading this book, mostly because it moved in a lineal way, straight up to the finish. It didn't have major plot twists or complicated issues, just a marriage going through their first crisis, and establishing the bases for their future. I loved their devotion to each other, the desire to make it work. They lost their way for a moment, confused ambition with absence, mistook what should be priorities to be present, for priorities to make money. Both characters grew up and grew stronger together. Simple and strong and lovely!
Finished at 7:31 PM Monday, January 22, 2024 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🌶️🌶️🌶️ It’s interesting to see them as a couple going through marital struggles that we know our common in reality, but to have it played out in the book is very nice. Also, interesting to see why Dakota was so depressed in the previous book from the snippets we saw of her. Losing a baby it’s probably one of the hardest things to overcome to go through person especially the mother. 👩 We also don’t normally get as readers a look into a book about their life as a married couple. Roman books typically, and as soon as the characters become a couple and or get married, and we don’t get to see what happens after that honeymoon stage. This is refreshing and I want to know more.
Sam and Dakota are in a good place after the turbulence of their reconnection and they are looking towards the future. Unfortunately, building a business of the scale they have take sacrifices that put more than one kink in their happily ever after.
It this last of the story of Sam and Dakota, Ms. Mann puts her characters through their paces as they take on married life. Missed dates, paternal interference, and dashed hopes test Sam and Dakota's love. There is heartbreak, frustration, and second thoughts are peppered throughout the story making for an interesting look at what it takes to make a marriage work, especially one that has been tested and failed before.
In the fifth book we return to Sam and Dakota now remarried and trying to piece a life together again. But its not easy with Sam and Dakota hardly seeing each. Sam keeps promising that the deal he is working on will be the last but then something else comes up and Dakota is left feeling alone again she starts to feel less important to Sam and a nuisance than a wife.
When a tragedy strikes and Sam is not their to comfort Dakota how will she react - will this marriage survivor yet more heartbreak or can Sam truly be the husband that Dakota needs.
In this one I hate both of them! 😂 Just kidding I love Sam and Dakota but I did not like them very much because I know people want to strive and be successful but sometimes at great cost for them.
This book of Sam and Dakota made me cry a lot, I saw how miscommunication makes everything around you fall apart. I was a jealous crying mess, had a lot of internal battles with Sam, the thing I did love is that even when they were hurt they didn’t stop fighting for their love. It was a beautiful story. ❤️
As a re-married couple Sam & Dakota's life is still not without trials & complications. Between working long hours, Sam's weeks of traveling, starting a family becomes an unattainable goal. There are moments when Sam & Dakota emotionally disconnect, intimacy is absent and each feels angry, hurt & guilty over their terrible loss. An unexpected situation brings this couple together & delivers the happiness this couple deserves.
I feel part of their life in these books. I loved getting to know them, their family, and friends. I live series where it shows you inside the lives of all the characters and continues to share from previous stories. Great series! I will miss these characters.
This story was gut-wrenching. I felt so bad for Dakota and Sam. Between Sam’s travel and their loss it broke them. I wasn’t sure if they would be able to find each other again. I love stories like this that make me feel all the emotions. So good!
It was awesome getting a peek into the after of "happily ever after". Every couple faces real life challenges and this was totally relatable. They are an amazing couple who value each other enough to work through said issues.
