Winner of the RoNAs 'Christmas and Winter Seasonal Award' novel, 2022, with 'Winter at Cliff's End Cottage'.

I live in Chelmsford, UK, with my husband Alan. We have three married daughters and six grandchildren. I've been writing ever since I was a little girl, and finally achieved my lifelong ambition to have a novel published, with the acceptance in 2002 of 'The Trouble With Ally'. Prior to this, I'd been having short stories published in women's magazines for about ten years.

My most recent books are stories set in the English county of Devon, and most include pets in the story! They are feel-good contemporary fiction.

I worked for most of my life as a medical secretary. I now write full-time. I like to relax by reading, walking, swimming, and seeing my family and friends.

I am passionate about my writing and love to hear from my readers. I am also happy to give talks to writers' groups and others, and book signings, in my local area.

I was in the mood for a fun book that I didn't need to think about too much. This fit the bill perfectly. I read this in Dutch, where Ally is rechristened Julia, and the title has been changed to Julia's Year (Het jaar van Julia). The translation had a couple of off moments, but on the whole, that wasn't a problem. It was definitely a feel-good book, Bridget Jones for the middle-aged. It's a shame that the photo used on the cover looks like a woman who is no more than 25 years old.

Capita a qualsiasi età!
È ironico, divertente, a tratti spassoso.
Ovviamente sconsigliato a chi voglia sempre e comunque letture impegnate!

A bit too plain for me. Kind of outdated....
A good read while I was sick in bed....

This was literally a summer beach read. I took this light weight kooky book to the beach and enjoyed fishing it out of my beach bag every time I sat down. It was easy to get through. There was some humor, angst and of course a happy ending for middle aged Ally who's hit her 50th birthday and finding her life falling apart. It has a happy ending and gives us all hope that life is still good at 50. If you don't like chaotic chick lit - life falling apart - stories, don't bother, this book isn't for you. But if you're looking for a quick enjoyable read, check it out.

Loved this book. Really funny . . I could't put it down. Sheila Norton is such a good author. She has a gift for pulling you right into her story lines. She writes about things we can all relate to. I can't wait to read more of her books.
