Pamela Burford comes from a funny family. You may take that any way you want. She was raised in a household that valued laughter above all, so of course the first thing she looked for in a husband was a sense of humor. Is it any wonder their grown kids are into stand-up comedy and improv? Oh, and here's another fun family fact: Pamela's identical twin sister, Patricia Ryan, aka P.B. Ryan, is also a published novelist. Patricia is the Good Twin, and yeah, Pamela knows what that makes her. But hey, Evil Twins have more fun.

It should come as no surprise that everything Pamela writes is infused with her own quirky brand of humor, from her feel-good contemporary romance and romantic suspense novels to her popular Jane Delaney mystery series, featuring snarky “Death Diva” Jane, her canine sidekick Sexy Beast, and a fun love triangle. Pamela's own beloved poodle, Murray, wants you to know that any similarities between himself and neurotic, high-strung Sexy Beast are purely coincidental.

Pamela is the proud founder and past president of Long Island Romance Writers. Her books have won awards and sold millions of copies, but what excites her most is hearing from readers. So swing by her website and say hi. And while you're there, don't forget to sign up for her newsletter. Not only will you learn about new releases and other fun stuff, but you'll receive a free ebook as her special thank-you.

This book is the last one of the series The Wedding Ring.
I read this as a standalone, but it would be better to read the other three before reading this one, because the Main Characters of the previous books play important roles in this one.

Shortly after graduating from High School, Four friends make a secret pact and call it The Wedding Ring. Under the terms of the pact, if any of them reached the age of thirty unmarried, the other three would help find her a husband.

The Heroine Amanda is 30 and has been married and divorced twice!!!!!
The Hero Nikolaos is 35 and has never been married.

Amanda has a degree in journalism from Cornell University and quit her job to start her own publication "Grasshopper" a children's monthly three years back.
Nick is a New York cabbie and a part time carpenter. What is not revealed till 2/3 rd of the book is that in his previous incarnation,

This was a very easy read with a lovely underlying touch of humour to the whole story.
There is no Angst or Big misunderstanding here.
There is no OM / OW drama.
There is no cheating.

An evenly paced book with a real "feel good" factor.

Descriptive Imagery
I've always wondered, how does one read emotions in another person's eyes? Is it even possible to do so in in real life? So, I am drawn, not only to descriptions of different shades of eye colours, but also to descriptions pertaining to emotions expressed by the eyes.

Nick's Eyes -
His eyes, were a warm shade of brown that varied with his moods from amber to molasses!
His eyes were like molten onyx by candlelight!
His perceptive eyes, now the color of bittersweet chocolate, settled it.
His eyes were more intense than she'd ever seen them, darkly penetrating.
His rich dark brown eyes, were now too insightful for comfort.

Amanda's Eyes -
Her silver eyes burned with an icy flame.
He read it in her eyes, the relief, the gratitude, and more-those slippery, shadowy feelings she tried so hard to deny.
Her eyes a bottomless silver lagoon beneath the glittering lights dancing on their surface.

Nick's Smile -
His megawatt smile drawing her like a lighthouse beacon.

Kahani mein Twist

Swoon worthy factor
He said, "I fell in love with you the day I first set eyes on you."
OOhhhh!!!!! *Sigh*

Of Special Significance
A silver whistle - Its description - The whistle was strung by a long delicate chain and had an old-fashioned shape, etched with curlicues and set with three semiprecious cabochon stones: green tourmaline, yellow citrine and purple amethyst.
A song - "Just My Imagination Running Away with Me," by the Temptations.

A wonderful end to a great series

I very rarely buy into a series, I read so fast that it's frankly, financially irresponsible. I also 'read' for a living. I am an editor, mostly to Indie authors, but I also have some fairly well -known clients.
I really liked this series, and read all four of them in one day that happened to crest over midnight.

Amanda and Nick

This was the most interesting of the four books and also the most calculated of all the wedding ring promises! Friends setting friends up for marriage. I loved it.

I just finished all four of the books in this series and had a hard time putting every one of them down! The characters are all unique, yet best of friends. The story lines are amazing. I wish I had that much of an imagination. I look forward to reading more from Pamela.

Great series

I enjoyed these four stories so much. It is rare for me th read a series straight through. I usually read about half then take a break to read one book in a different genre. That didn't happen with this series. Read all of them, you'll love them.

Amanda from "Wedding Ring" is our last bride. Twice burned, forever shy. Nick is a cabbie with a secret. I loved them the most of all the couples. Amanda puts obstacles every step of the way and Nick overcomes. Again, great world building and character development. I could not put it down.

While the best of the four books in this series, the “twist” at the end ruins it for me. Mostly because it is completely unnecessary and so far beyond believable that I just couldn’t get past it.

Amanda hiring Nick to be her boyfriend was enough of a hurdle for this couple to get past. In many ways it was a role reversal of book 2, with our heroine the one creating the “arrangement” and struggling to acknowledge her own desire for a more authentic relationship.

Nick is a great hero that calls Amanda out on her bull shit and eventually gets her to open up about things she can’t even share with the supposed best friends this series revolves around. Amanda deciding to open herself up to love again should have been adequate, but no, the author had to make sure the Wedding Ring Pact ruled the romance. That the BFFs knows our heroine better than she knows herself.

And so, our great guy, Nick, turns out to have been pining away for our heroine for over 5 yrs (creepy?) and manages to pull off the most convoluted plot ever with her “best friends” so she thinks she hired a stranger. (Which he is as far as she’s concerned.) Even less believable was the complete lack of slip-ups by the rest of the gang that would have at least hinted to the reader, if not Amanda, what was going on. The vague references by Nick to “his plan” combined with one creepy encounter at a costume party made it seem more like he was going to reveal he was spying for one of her exes. Even though the friends’ swallowing of Amanda’s lies made it clear they suspected she was trying to pull the wool over their eyes, I just couldn’t get over the complexity of the set up and Nick’s long time crush from afar. Besides, he’s too good of a catch to wait so long for someone he had a five minute conversation with five years ago. Amanda’s rapid acceptance of the entire thing was equally unfathomable.

I received a copy Fiancé for Hire by Pamela Buford in exchange for an honest review.
Note: this review contains spoilers!
Amanda is the last of the 4 friends to turn 30. She has been married and divorced twice. And she does not want another husband. But the matchmakers won't leave her alone, so she comes up with her own plan: she'll hire someone to plan the part of her boyfriend, get engaged, then call it off right before the wedding. That should get her friends off of her back! So she meets Nikolaos Stephanos a taxi driver. Not only does he speak perfect English, something strange for a NY cabbie, but he looks good too. A deal is made and Amanda and Nick enter into an agreement. As they date, and the other members of the Wedding Ring find plenty of reasons for them to date, Amanda and Nick become closer than just a boss and employee. Amanda lets down her guard and enjoys life more than she has for years.
This was my favorite because Nick is such a great guy and Amanda learns so much about herself and life. I cried when they talked about the chest Nick had made and how taken he was with Amanda. If you only read one in the series, make it this one!

In Fiancé For Hire, it was fun to watch the mighty “Ice Queen” fall! At least that’s what her childhood friends call Amanda Coppersmith, the last of the friends to be set up with a blind date in the Wedding Ring series, is called. The prospective “date”? Nick Stephanos. It’s a fun ride, and I use the term loosely as you’ll read and I won’t give away any hints. I loved Nick and how he treated relationship-shy Amanda. I will say that even though this is a standalone, I was sorry to leave these four girlfriends at the end of the story. I can’t say enough good things about this book and the series except to say you should read them all.

Light, funny and a super quick read, Fiancé, For Hire is the fourth in Pamela Burford's Wedding Ring quartet. I loved both Nick and Amanda, he with his too-educated taxi driving ways, quick wit and casual elegance and she with her schedules and ice queen demeanour. I loved the plot which left me wondering just who was outwitting who. This story was beautifully paced throughout and I just couldn't put it down.

Book #4 of the Wedding Ring series by Pamela Burford. Four young girls make a pact to find each other husbands if they are not married by 30. This one might have been my favourite. Unpreditable story line keeps you guessing on who is Mr. Perfect for our heroine.Fiancé for Hire

For some reason, I really couldnt like this one. It was especially disappointing after 'I Do, But there's a Catch' which was quite good.
This one just felt too long, and couldnt retain my interest after a point
