A charming book about a young orphaned woman attending college in Salem. Sarah was raised in foster homes after her Mother's death & has never had many friends. All she wants is to learn more about witchcraft at the Women's College of Salem & maybe make some friends.
When Sarah meets Tanner, sparks fly between then. Sarah is having nightmares about the Salem witch trials, but can't imagine why.
This was a very enjoyable book, full of romance with enough twists in the story to keep you guessing. I devoured it in one sitting & loved it! I love Ms. Herbert's writing style & can't wait to read more in this series!
The last of the Appalachia books, but set in Salem, this book is Tanner's and Sarah's story of self-realization and maturity. Another of Debbie Herbert's wonderfully original book about youngish adults growing into their magic and their selves, Charmed takes you through Tanner and Sarah's relationship at the Women's College of Salem, where witchiness is not on the down low like in Alabama - instead, it's celebrated right out in the open. Sarah is a foster child who's biological mom was a practicing witch. Tanner is a young IT specialist whose college football career has come to a screeching halt, leading him to start over at WCS while trying to find himself - and bury his connection to his childhood coven. Their story is romantic, but the secrecy and the obstacles that stand in their way are nothing short of unexpected and just plain surprising. Worth the read!
The third instalment in the Appalacian Magic series is just as spellbinding as the first two.
Sarah has struggled all of her life and never had a chance to settle in one place for very long. Winning a scholarship to the Women's College of Salem is just the break that she needs. A chance to meet new people and maybe even make friends!
Tanner had his own problem which led him to become the IT guy at the college. He misses Alabama, his home, and he is not too keen on Salem's weather! He suppresses his supernatural gifts as this is not something that he wants in his life.
Tanner hasn't taken notice of any of the other girls until he sets eyes on Sarah, the quiet and reserved student. He has been watching her from his office window for a while now and unable to resist meeting her for any longer, he makes a trip to the library. They hit it off and realise that the attraction is mutual. Sarah is befriended by a group of girls and things start looking up for her.
Strange things have been happening around her but she has kept them quiet, not wanting to make a fuss and attract attention. She uncovers a college breach and is bullied into keeping her mouth shut. She then finds out that Tanner has done something she considers an invasion of privacy. Her situation in the dorm worsens and what she finds at her door is enough to send anyone running. Her friends are not who she thinks they are and worse of all, the one she trusts the most wants to see her fall.
This novella is very well crafted with believable characters. Tanner and Sarah make a beautiful couple. It's magical and romantic. There are deceit and hate. The surprising twist towards the end brings a fitting conclusion. A fantastic paranormal story.
I received a complimentary ecopy and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
Some of them are kindle unlimited, but most seem not to be. Confusing as to what is going on, mostly because of unnecessary and lengthy side trips, and seems like the start of a Jerry Springer show or something. Normally don't mention typos or other grammar issues, but when it messes up the flow of the story and the meaning of the sentence, yeah that isn't good, and it keeps happening. Try some beta readers and a decent grammar program, there are no such words as '' there're" not in accepted English it's they are, and ditto 'fixing' instead of about, and it continues one with this dreck in the third 'book'. Goofy chick angst that is stupid and even worse when it's supposedly coming from the guy side. She understands he's changeling not fairie then in the next part is chick gushing thinking he's putting out fairy pheromones. Then back to the useless filler of too soon chick dude groping each other. They also can't 'make love' to each other after only having met like 3 or 4 times, sheesh. The rating quickly went from 5 to 4 then to 3 which is eh books, then to 2 which is really bad ones, then all the way to 1 for why do 'writers' print this crap. Worst of all, it's all boring, cardboard chicklit ungrammatical badly plotted nonsense. Just how stupid are these characters, hint, VERY stupid. Next hint: next book is just as stupid and boring and pointless. The best thing about 1 not being available in ku is that meant didn't have any need or real way to read that crap.
Charmed and Dangerous: An Appalachian Magic Novel Book One (Appalachian Magic Series 1) Changeling: An Appalachian Magic Novel (Appalachian Magic Series Book 2) Charmed by the Salem Witch (Appalachian Magic Series Book 3)
I received a copy of Charmed by the Salem Witch by Debbie Herbert in exchange for an honest review. Note: this review contains spoilers! Sarah has grown up in foster homes with very little knowledge of her family except her mother was a witch and so is she. When Sarah is given a full scholarship to the Women’s College of Salem, she thinks her dreams have come true. Then she meets Tanner, the transplant from Alabama working in the IT department. Unfortunately, there are other witches at the college who want Sarah's power for their own and want Sarah dead. Will Sarah figure out who is the real leader of the coven and who wants her dead? Will Tanner be able to save Sarah and let her know how much he likes her? The characters and story line are well developed. We have plenty of backstory on both Sarah and Tanner. Great job!

I was excited to find out what this spellbinding fun series had in store for Tanner and let me tell you I was not disappointed at all. This may be a short visit to this magical world but it is no less gripping or entertaining than the first two full length stories in the series. Best part is this one can stand all on its own with out reading the first two. (Though I also love the first two books)
Sarah is witty, strong and so appealing as a person that you just want to fix everything in her little world. Some very interesting twists and turns in this awesome adventure. Looking forward that ever comes next in this ever expanding magical world.
This book wasn't as good as the other two. It is still got a different plot but more plain. I guess when we get really involved in our books it's a little let down when a book is not.
I go could give 0 stars I would but alas, Goodreads gave us a new logo not app improvements so suffice to say that (to me) the best thing about this book was how short it was
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was well written, and the story sucked me right in. It did remind me a lot of the movie The Craft, but definitely not a take-off of it, it just had many similarities. I will admit, I have not read the first two books in this series, but I want to now. Not reading them had no effect on my enjoying this book in the least. Actually I had no idea this was the third in a series until now. I'm happy to know there is more. The twist at the end was a nice surprise. Herbert writes in a way that you have no trouble envisioning the characters. I received this book at no cost, but with no promise to review. #housewisereview
The newest installment in the Appalachian Magic series is fascinating and even contains some unexpected danger. Debbie Herbert packs lot of emotion into her new adult story, where two people in college learn what it means to put their trust in another person. Add in some intriguing supernatural facts, and the book certainly kept my interest during every compelling scene. Ms. Herbert is an author whose stories always feature original plots, and CHARMED BY THE SALEM WITCH is definitely creative.
Back home in Alabama, the future of Tanner Adams looked bright. He did well in sports during high school plus college, but an injury changed his goals. Now he is doing technical assignments at the Women’s College of Salem, yet he feels as though his life is going nowhere. Then he meets Sarah Welch who is a student at the Massachusetts college. Although they know nothing about each other, it does not take long for them to realize they share several things in common related to witchcraft.
While Sarah does enjoy attending the school in Salem, she is disappointed to not fit in and lacks any friends, just like during her earlier years. But that changes when Tanner makes it a point to talk with her, and a group of girls even say they have formed a coven and want her to become a member. While her relationship with the IT employee is moving forward, the young women in the group are beginning to seem more like enemies. Tanner is suspicious of the motives of these girls, and he may have to call on his own supernatural abilities to protect Sarah.
It has been a long time since I was in college, but I do remember wanting to feel as though I was a part of certain groups and not always be left out. Sarah has long wished to have some friends with whom she could talk and share ideas. But college looks like it will also be lonely for her once again. I felt for her, and was so happy when Tanner made the effort to speak with her because I could tell he was genuinely interested in learning about her. Their budding relationship progresses as I liked, where two young people are coming to understand the views and hopes of each other. Their desire for one another also plays a part in how they feel, and Ms. Herbert makes these moments believable and lovingly tender.
In the Appalachian Magic series, young adults are determining what it takes to make them happy while still exploring any supernatural capabilities they might possess. It is a time of discovery for them in numerous ways, and I really liked how Ms. Herbert interweaves romance with the paranormal to create a captivating story. The reactions of the characters are realistic, while any details about the events are conceivable. I truly hope there are future books in the series. CHARMED BY THE SALEM WITCH is constantly enchanting.
While Tanner is working in the library, he saw the girl again, the one he is so drawn too. This time he gets the courage to talk to her. Her name is Sarah and little do the two of them know, they both have dabbled in witchcraft. But when Sarah starts getting harassed and then set up to take the fall from something that was stolen, will her and Tanner be able to figure out who is behind everything before it's too late? I really enjoyed reading this story and I love watching Tanner and Sarah working together the mysteries of what is happening around them.
Charmed by the Salem Witch is a novella and the third in the awesome Appalachian Magic Series. I love this series because the story lines are awesome and they can be stand-alone reads. Some of the characters overlap and enhance each other’s stories, but you can read the books out of order. This novella mentions the other characters from the series, but doesn’t include them.
Tanner Adams, the hottie football star from the first two books, took off from the Alabama area to Salem, Massachusetts to work with his uncle at a college there to escape from his troubles. He had never embraced his witch heritage but had somehow accepted that he was a little different and had a gift that could not be ignored. He soon discovers that Sarah is in danger and he does his best to protect her by doing what he does best: finding things.
Sarah Welch is a novice witch who grew up in the foster care system, never feeling like she belonged or fit in anywhere. Sarah is awesome. She’s smart, funny, caring and always strives to do her very best. She didn’t let her situation bring her down. She started a Women’s college to meet people that she hoped were like her. Sarah was afraid to love or get too close to anyone, but she becomes friends with a few other witches. Strange things begin to happen to her at school and she doesn’t know who she can trust.
Tanner falls for Sarah right away and they are so cute together. I love the chemistry between Sarah and Tanner. They make a great team and it is obvious that they can handle any situation as long as they do it together.
This book had a nice pace to it and flowed well. It was too short! I want more of Tanner and Sarah. The story line is a fun twist on Salem witches and kept my interest throughout. I loved this book and I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
If you’re in for a quick fix of magic, then look no further.
Debbie Herbert is one of my favorite authors. I downloaded Charmed by the Salem Witch this morning and finished it before lunch. This fast-paced read kept me turning the pages.
The Women’s College of Salem is an academic institution for witches in training.
Sarah comes to the college as a freshman after securing a scholarship. Sarah’s mom dies early in Sarah’s life leading to a life of multiple foster homes. By the time, she reaches college, Sarah longs for friends and love.
Four bad-girl witches befriend Sarah and invite her to several coven meetings. Sarah enjoys the camaraderie until she realizes they’re using her. She leaves the coven, but the evil witches aren’t willing to let her off that easily.
However, in the love department, Sarah scores big with Tanner, a former athlete turned IT, guru. He too has a mysterious past.
Charmed by the Salem Witch is a wonderful read with lots of suspense. If you’re in for a quick fix of magic, then look no further.
Sarah is a student in her Freshman Year at the Women’s College of Salem hoping to meet other students of The Craft as well as make some friends. She joins a coven with some girls in her hall but she then notices strange things and the others seem to have a problem with her but he has no idea why this is all happening. Tanner is a cute IT guy working for the University and helps to uncover a dark secret from her family. Sarah has to learn to trust Tanner to survive the year and Tanner is going to have to accept his powers if Sarah is going to survive events when the blood moon rises at Samhain.
I loved this story. It had lots of intrigue and drama and led you one way only for it to change at the end. Well written and very enjoyable.

I received this book as a gift and am cheerfully and freely giving an honest review. Charmed, is the third installment of Debbie Herbert’s Appalachian Magic series and continues the saga with Tanner, who was the beloved jock and Skye’s secret crush in Changeling. It seems that Mr. Perfect has found himself in cold Salem, Mass and missing his Sweet Home Alabama (haha see what I did there
As ususl Ms. Herbert gives us a great story with believable characters. It's geared towards a younger audience than I expected from a Harlequin romance so that is why I only rated it 4 stars.
