Terror and heartache have descended on the Guardians. Victor, Dragon-born in the sign of Aquarius, feels this pain deeper than the frigid December winds.
His brother Zadoc has returned bloodied, beaten, and broken, and Victor is helpless to save him. Until he finds four female shifters hiding handmade dolls and carved wooden wolves, and he realizes with blinding clarity that he's the one who's been given a gift.
An opportunity for his family to heal, an opportunity for his family to love--the gift of Christmas.

I have been an avid reader for longer than I can remember, desiring the darker, edgier works of Bram Stoker, Stephen King, Dean Koontz. I first started writing in High School giving that away when my first attempt was nothing more than dribble. I wish now that I kept at it, pursued it with a hunger that I currently possess.
Writing is my passion, it is what fuels the fires inside of me and it is an all-or-nothing furnace that keeps me up at all hours.
I am married to a wonderful supportive husband, I have 2 wonderful kids and the best friends that I have waited some 35 odd years to meet.
This was a good short story that was heart warming , and though it was read in March it doesn't make any difference. A happy ending is a good ending any time of the year. I would recommend this book as one that will make you feel good.
A Roaring Fire is in the middle of to series so the start was based on three previous books and it took a bit of reading to catch each place the characters had in the family. Despite not reading the first three books I enjoyed how the characters worked together to give the youngsters of the household a Happy Christmas, despite limited funds, time and space.
Victor the second of the group was the leader of the idea to give the children Christmas and the pack a new start after previous difficulties and make a new start as a family again. The ending was a bit up in the air as to the direction the pack will take but they had a very nice Christmas even with and A Roaring Fire that was extra.
A Roaring Fire by Kim Faulks. 3 out of 5 Stars. A paranormal series of death, destruction and chaos where the Dragon Guardians have taken to protecting the Bloodstone pack. The unusual 'family' made up of dragons, wolves and humans are barely scraping by. A feeling that most people will be familiar with! They've lurched from one catastrophe to another, and the money is rapidly running out, when it's brought home to Victor, whose dragon is The Tormentor, that Christmas is only three days away! But what do you do when money is tight? Simple. You make do and make your own! Until your broken dragon brother, sees his pregnant mate pushed over and burns the christmas tree down, ruining all the presents and decorations, and you have to douse the whole place in water to put them out again! Will Santa Claus come for these children this year or not? I recommend this book, as part of the Zodiac Dragon Guardians series, to others interested in paranormal, shifters (dragons and wolves with a little demon mixed into them) and more of a survival story rather than a dystopian setting, as this is set in more modern day/past day times.
A beautiful look into a time of family, friends plus a feel for Aries as he comes back to the fold of family. Were things go sideways, forward but take a step back and wonder about a few things ... So worth reading
This story was good but confusing at times. A couple of times I was going to skip a few pages but then something else would catch my interest and I read it all
This was heartwarming and heartbreaking at times. I loved it! One of the best so far out of the series. This book was an emotional tide needed to help you feel for this new family and friends. The happiness, the sadness, the loss. You come to love every single one of these characters!
It’s for Christmas. It’s for the kids. 5 GOLD PRESENTS
We have to give them a Christmas they deserve. We have to be a family. AWWWW! What a beautiful and amazing and DRAGONTACULAR Christmas story filled with friends, family and love! LOTS of LOVE!!! Of course it wouldn't be a Zodiac Dragon story without some pain and trouble, but even that was because of love! And "fixed" with love too! I actually was surprised by who "told" the story, but it fits! I don’t think that anyone else could have made this story as special as it is though, so Kim definitely knows what she is doing! wink (not that I had any doubts mind you!) I will say that my heart broke with one character, but exploded with love because of a couple others! But in typical Kim Faulks & true Zodiac Dragon Guardians style, this has definitely set the scene for what's to come! There is a lot more I want to say, but I think that this story will speak for itself and make even the Grinch smile! So enough about that - Enjoy this Christmas story that is a beautiful reminder of what the true meaning of Christmas is and is filled with enough Christmas spirit to make even the grouchy Dragons smile & warm even the coldest of hearts!! in this moment I finally understood…we were a family. as long as we are together the family is strong. This Christmas was our chance to start anew.
Hmmm I think the series as it stands, with the novel length books, is pretty decent. Which leaves me in a bit of a dilemma with this short read. This doesn't really give any added dimensions to the characters. However the theme, which is based around what Christmas means to people, is captured quite nicely. So is the underscoring common denominator of The Zodiac Dragons - family, honour and love.
Would I recommend A Roaring Fire to anyone outside of the series enthusiast? Probably not.
But I got this in an anthology collection Happy Howling Holidays - Shifters in Love: Romance Collection. Which came about after accepting a Group Reading Challenge. So would I have read it otherwise? That would be a no. Nothing personal against the series I just prefer to stick with the longer books. Unless it's by one of three of my fave author.
It was short and sweet, with enough action, family drama to keep your attention? The chemistry of the characters was great and how they interact with one another to have a nice Christmas for family but mostly for the children was awesome. Very enjoyable and keep coming?
This is a real treat for those who love the series. You get a chance to see them try to heal as they work to bring some Christmas cheer to everyone. They want the kids to get a chance to have some happiness after all the pain and it is not so easy. There are serious issues and money problems too. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend the series.
I love little Shelley, she is so sweet and innocent. And Zadoc is home. A disaster and a happy ending. Nothing is easy for these wolf and dragon shifters. But this Christmas they are home and celebrating. Somehow it feels like the calm before the storm.
Something is definitely wrong with the senator. I hope it's good and he is not apart of the eclipse of darkness that's coming. I wonder what he said to Zadoc's and I hope he doesn't trick them.
Hard times bring a family together. Some are blood family, some are their mates and their families but some are pack mates. Oh! some are dragon, werewolves, bears and human too. Love, faith, friends, family and maybe a new beginning can be found. Love to see the next book.
I love the Zodiac Dragon books, this was a short story I think showing they will have a new start and they can accept help from others to get there. Can't wait to start the next one
