Wow. What a whirlwind.
Faete felt like a crazy mashup between Twilight, Outlander, and its own twist on spells and magic. I loved how as the story went on we got more and more folklore, mythology, and faerie tales intertwined with the story. In the beginning, I was skeptical, because the writing, especially during the dialogue, is very juvenile sounding, but the descriptions are beautiful and lush sounding, and the plot is so vast.
I would recommend definitely to a younger crowd, maybe early teens, to late teens. YA typically has a large fan base, but I would be hesitant to recommend to anyone older than early twenties.
Also, thank goodness for the cover change. This one is so much prettier.

A love triangle that passes through time and space to repeat over and over again is the premise of this book. It is not purely original, nor is it a copy of any other book. This was an okay piece of literature, but I have to admit, I was hoping for more.
From the beginning, I had high hopes for the book. The cover is exquisite and the summary seemed so promising. We are introduced to Renny, a girl with a simple life that later becomes hella complicated and confusing.
I enjoyed few pieces of this book like the ability of supporting characters, like Renny’s friends, to be happy outside of the heroine. More often than not, friends and relatives for some reason cannot get a happy ending unless the main character does, otherwise their personal life, God forbid, might make their attention waiver away from the main heroes. That wasn’t the case in this book. They were respectively given an opportunity to be happy and I truly enjoyed that part. I was also a huge fan of the wording in this book. It was beautifully worded both in flashbacks as well as present time.
I think the biggest issue I have with this book is Renny. Her choices were dull and predictable. She didn’t grow as a person in the book and her presence simply annoyed me. She was quick to find fault in others, but slow to admit that her choices may be wrong. I think my dislike of her stems from the wasted potential I saw in this book before I started reading it. If two people bind themselves to one, show me why. Give me the reason why they would give up their peace and quiet and follow this particular individual through time. What part of her life, her character, or her love made her special? What I saw was an indecisive and selfish girl, which would’ve been fine if she then grew into a stronger, wiser version of herself, especially if she remembered her previous life and learned from mistakes of it.
I wish more things were explained in the book, such as what did Keegan’s and Tristan’s lives were before they spontaneously decided to travel to a small town in the middle of nowhere, or why is Keegan not the crazed lunatic that Darcy was. I also wish that the plot was less predictable with surprises no one could truly see coming. I feel like I know exactly what is going to happen to all the characters at the end of the series and all it took was for me to read half of the first book.
Hopefully, the second book will be better than the first. I do hope that it learns from the Book 1 in the series and develops into a great work unencumbered by previous faults.

A love that transcends time
The plot was interesting in the beginning then dragged on as it progressed. The ending left me feeling a bit unsatisfied. It felt like it just gave important details that would kick start the series.
The characters had little to no character development. Tristan presence was barely felt throughout the book because of this I felt no chemistry between the two. The friendship between Renny, Julian and Katy was a fresh breath from the overbearing love triangle.
The concept of old love transcending through time was used and I think it was executed quite well. The love triangle into the book was one sided and I felt completely sorry for Keagan. The love between Tristan and MC was insta-love and annoyed me since no one could actually fall unconditionally in love that fast even if their love was from the past.
Overall, the concept and execution was well done but the badly planned romance overshadowed it.

This was a fantastic YA crossover novel. If you like fantasy, you will love this book!

March 21, 2017Sellars' writing, in this novel, was superb. I could not put the book down. I found myself being sucked into the story at every turn. I highly recommend this novel and await the next book by Sellars eagerly.

This story was pure entertainment. I highly enjoyed it and am itching to read book two (the story ends with a big cliff hanger - so be prepared to be sucked in). This is the story of Renny, a high school girl who accidentally summons two of her lovers from a past life. She feels an incredible pull towards both of these guys that she can't explain, and embarks on a journey of discovering the magic and mysteries hidden in her past. This story gave me a Twilight type of feel (maybe because of the love triangle and how different the two guys are) but instead of vampires and werewolves we get reincarnation and fairies. The pacing of the story was PERFECT - not too rushed, not too slow. I love how we got to "follow Renny around" even on normal days...it made everything seem more realistic and we really got to know the characters. There was a ton of plot building preparing us for book number two, and tons of questions I'm dying to have answered in the next instalment. The two things that prevented me from giving this story a 5 stars were: #1 I didn't fully connect to Renny as a character, I think because she was so calm about many of the bizarre discoveries she made about her past. I would have freaked out more and flipped out on my mom for keeping such a secret! And #2 The cover just did not do the story justice! I found it to be too old fashion, but am so happy I overlooked that and gave the book a chance, since it really was so entertaining to read!
