Lexxie’s not a deviant. She just has a deviant’s imagination and a desire to entertain readers with her words. Add the two together and you get darkly erotic romances with a twist of horror, sci-fi and the paranormal.

When she’s not submerged in the worlds she creates, Lexxie’s life revolves around her family, a husband who thinks she’s insane, a indoor cat who likes to stalk shadows, two yabbies hell-bent on destroying their tank and her daughters, who both utterly captured her heart and changed her life forever.

Having no idea how old she really is, Lexxie decided to go with 27 and has been that age for quite some time now. It's the best of both worlds - old enough to act mature, young enough to be silly.

And silly she can be. Just ask her husband who frequently has to endure her bursting into song whenever the mood strikes her, feeling him up in public (one of her favorite pastimes), or rolling around in the sand with their dog - a large mutt of dubious origins who causes almost as much havoc around the neighborhood as Lexxie herself. Or squealing her way down the slide at the local park with her daughter!

Lexxie lives by two simple rules - measure your success not by how much money you have, but by how often you laugh, and always try everything at least once. As a consequence, she's laughed her way through many an eyebrow raising adventure.

The Stubborn Billionaire by Lexxie Couper was a very good read.

The storyline enjoyable, the characters Sienna and James were passionate, stubborn and had amazing chemistry.
Watching them come together and work through their insecurities kept me turning the pages.

Oh yeah... yum
~~~~~~~~~~
I do enjoy a great billionaire/millionaire story once in a while and this one fits the bill. After all, being a bit eccentric and over the top has its moments. Plus, revenge has a way of biting you when you least expect it.
Dyson has a plan and that plan does not include falling for Sienna but when the heat starts turning up, the story gets hot! When he gets to know Sienna, he knows he is screwed. She is not what he expected! In fact, he gets a bit possessive of her....
With anger and passion running together, you get caught up in this steamy story. Some twists and turns, and a great character in Sienna's step-brother, lead you through this heated book. Easy to read and get sucked into. I enjoyed it greatly!
****
1 annoyance for me.... Shortening her name to Si just did not work. Every time I saw it, I had to figure out how to say it in my head. Si - sigh? or Sie? Ugh... both ruin a beautiful name.
Slick's review:
Author Lexxie Couper always offers up hot and sexy romance and she’s done it again in The Stubborn Billionaire, her first offering from Entangled Indulgence. Two people with a difficult history, a plot for revenge, and a connection like neither has experienced before made this one exciting and intoxicating romance.
When her father is put in prison for multiple crimes, Sienna Roberts has no choice but to take in her 15 year old half brother who is not only grieving the death of his mother, their father’s incarceration, but his lavish lifestyle. Zachary’s latest stunt puts her in a deeper hole and needing money she doesn’t have, so she has no choice but to accept the commission of her benefactor and paint James Dyson, the brother of her deceased friend and the man who not only banned her from his funeral, but blames her for his death. So begins this twisted and entertaining story…
Talk about opposites attracting; Sienna is an artist and at 18 shunned her father’s money and his style of living and went out on her own to make it through art school and find work as an artist. She doesn’t trust people with money and she especially doesn’t trust James but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to lick him from head to toe. James has had a plan to ruin Sienna since the day he found his brother dead.
Wealthy, ruthless and use to getting his way James is stunned when he sees Sierra again and can’t help but think she’s put some sort of spell on him. I loved the way these two reacted to one another from the start and given that the first time they met there were sparks as well, it is a pretty good indication that they might not want to like one another, but their bodies feel very differently about the matter. There attraction was undeniable, but I also enjoyed watching them really see one another beneath the exterior they put on for the world. There was a mutual admiration and while they didn’t want to like one another, they both fell hard and fast and their sexy times…whew, even the reader needs a cigarette when they are done.
Things I really loved about this book was them both being able to move past their past together and not dwell on it and I also loved seeing Sienna and her brother Zachary form a special bond. Watching Zach go from petulant teenager to protective brother was really quite beautiful. The emotion from both the romantic and sibling relationships really added a lot of depth and feeling to this story.
Exciting, sexy and full of the witty banter I’ve come to expect from Ms. Couper, The Stubborn Billionaire was a delight to read.
My Review:
My first response was…I think the title is all wrong. The billionaire isn't stubborn, the artist is more stubborn than he is. But really, the title is all wrong. Give me some time to work on it and I'll come up with a better one. Review to follow...
Well, I haven’t come up with a great title for this book, but this one still doesn’t sit well with me. However, I do like the book quite a lot.
The characters were very well done. They had a depth to them and stayed true to themselves throughout the book. No weird stuff that didn’t fit.
I liked Sienna’s 15-year old half brother, Zachary, who's living with her because he's been expelled from school. He's funny and snarky. He has a much better idea of what’s going on than either of the other two, Sienna or James. Of course, he has the seat on the sidelines that allows him to see it all. And he’s totally amused by most of the proceedings.
Sienna and James shoot sparks off each other just saying hello. Their connection is hot whether they're kissing or arguing. I love this quote. It's not nice, but I love it anyway!
"So, Sienna, I'm independently wealthy, Dad can't touch my money, and I like what I've tasted so far. Am I good enough to sleep with?
He's plotting to ruin her, and he almost succeeds. Then he realizes he's in love with her and calls it all off. But not, of course, before she finds out what he's been up to. She's hurt and angry and sends him away. Then he bares his soul in a very public way and it's beautiful. Billionaires do that so well.
If you’re a fan of millionaire/billionaire love stories, I recommend this one. It’s due out on January 23, 2017. That’s next Monday. So, plan on picking it up and giving it a go.
James and Sienna have history. This little gem of a story is an enemy to lovers story. Now we all know, those are the best stories for sizzling chemistry. If done correctly, you can feel it brewing even before your leads know it's happening. Lexxie Couper did it correctly! She did an exceptional job of not only maturing both James and Sienna individually, but also as one. The story unfolded without a flaw. It is exactly what you should expect from this trope :)
Another great aspect to this story was the side story of Sienna and her brother. It's worth mentioning because there was a lot of growth and heart there and it added to Sienna's growth with James as well. It was perfectly layered out by Lexxie.
I'm highly impressed with the unpredictability of the predictable. And what I mean is that yes, the whole revenge thing is going to get figured out, that's a given, and on the surface you could say it was predictable, but if you read deeper between the lines, it wasn't so predictable ... Maybe that's just me LOL
Anywho, excellent enemies to lovers story. High praise from this reviewer!
James Dyson is looking for revenge. His brother committed suicide after a woman broke his heart, and James believes he's got to deliver justice. Sienna Roberts, an up and coming artist is the woman in question and he's got a plan to destroy her one step at a time. It doesn't matter that the first time they met, before they knew who each other was, the sizzling attraction between them was the most real reaction he'd had to a woman in months.
Sienna is keeping things together one day at a time. Her father is in jail, a once wealthy man who owes money to disreputable characters, and her teenaged half brother is struggling, living with her reluctantly while going to school. The only thing keeping them financially afloat is the commissions for erotic paintings she's been getting from a mysterious benefactor. When James Dyson, billionaire businessman shows up on her door with orders from her benefactor to paint a portrait of him, she's stunned. The last time she saw James was when he turned her away from his brother's funeral. With no choice but to accept, Sienna agrees. James's plan to get revenge hits a snag when he finds that Sienna is nothing like his brother described, making him question his plans. But as these two draw closer together, will the secrets that come to light break everything apart?
I love a good enemies to lovers romance! James thinks he knows everything about Sienna from the one sided tale told to him by his frankly mentally unstable brother and has his plan in motion almost right away. When his brother initially left the family fold to become an artist, no one supported his choice, and it's the guilt he feels about that, and his brother's subsequent suicide that make James believe he must do something to atone for it. Ruining the woman who destroyed his brother seems the best choice. Of course it's not long before he realizes that he's made a mistake and Sienna is nothing at all like he thought.
Sienna is a great female character – compassionate and patient with her teenaged half brother who has been thrown into her custody, competent and talented as an artist and a fiery and passionate woman. She'd rather have nothing to do with James, a man who pushes all her buttons but who is off-limits because of the awful circumstances surrounding his brother's death. She still feels the pain of that, her one-time friend having much stronger feelings for her than she realized and her rejection of him leading him on a destructive path. But the chemistry between her and James is too strong, and it's not long before neither of them can resist diving headlong into an affair.
Some of the story is predictable. Obviously Sienna is going to find out about James's plan at some point and the consequences of that are going to affect them both (and that's going to lead to grovelling on the part of James, the best part!). But even knowing where the plot is heading, the story is a very enjoyable read. I liked the interaction of Sienna and her brother (who came across as a very realistic teenager). James's character, despite all his bluster has a gentler and protective side too, so while he's mostly got the alpha male thing going on, there are some scenes that belie that and make him all the more attractive to Sienna (and the reader). All in all, it's a great story for the Indulgence line with some super sexy scenes, an entertaining plot, and interested and conflicted characters that find their way to a happy ending.
*slight spoilers*
James Dyson is uber hot, uber rich, and uber pissed off... At a one Sienna Roberts.
He believes that she did something awful to someone close to him. Something very very very bad that had dire, fatal results. And he wants to get even. So he sets in motion a plan to destroy her completely. Emotionally, Socially. Utter destruction to sate his need for vengeance. Months of preparation and manipulation go into his project. And finally he's ready to begin.
But then he's dumbfounded by his reaction to Sierra. Surprise Surprise.
Sierra is fascinating. She's an artist, a rebel, a free spirit, but also incredibly patient and giving. Too giving, in my opinion. But Sierra also has a backbone and a temper. And she wants nothing at all to do with James, which complicates his plan.
Then he starts to genuinely like her. Starts to fall for her. Starts to view her with something other than a desire for revenge. He sees a future with Sierra. But it's too late for that. His plan is in motion.
So naturally she finds out.
And he breaks her heart.
Big ole stupid head.
But then he does something to make up for it and there's a HEA.
Wrapped up too quickly, and missed an epilogue. Really my only critiques for this one. Sessy times were hot. Emotional times were real. Character development was good. H&H were very likable. Supporters were well done. 4 stars.
Quick easy read but not without its pitfalls. Revenge is always a matter of viewpoint. This time viewpoints changed and the fire burning for revenge just may need recitations. Everything is not always as it appears.
His plan was in place. His mind set for the kill. He had every detail accounted for. Or so he thought. He never counted on Sienna not being what he thought she was. He never counted on her smile. Her story. Her charm. Her allure.
Steamy passion, fiery anger, twist & turns, lavish luxury, spoiled siblings, dead siblings, pointing fingers, and more. There was a lot here to keep you engaged in the world of wealth, power, privilege, and revenge. It all does not turn out how its planned to.
Looking for a read that will captivate you, engage your senses, keep you on your toes, pick up The Stubborn Billionaire.
Ok I have some issues with this one lol!
Firstly let’s talk timeline. 6 months ago her friend and roommate killed himself after she refused his proposal. 5 months ago her dad went to prison and her brother came to live with her. Obviously court cases the build up from arrest to the case to prison takes months and months. Then mere months later the brother of the roommate shows up and they’re declaring their love for each other almost immediately!! Come on man!
Then the way the characters both talk about wanting to make love when they’re essentially one night stands?? Who does that!
Seriously and women wonder why they’re called bunny boilers? If this is how the author sees sex when it is just sex with someone they virtually don’t know, then she’s a bunny boiler too!
Also the ending the FMC allowed herself to be bought by the MMC. No thanks. Bye.
Sienna is raising her half brother Zachary/Zach who is fifteen. Zach is angry, sad, and moody. Sienna had no idea how to raise Zach. when Zach was with their father he gave Zach everything he wanted and never disciplined him, and Zach’s mother was always in a drug induced fog until she overdosed and died. Sienna’s mother had at least had tried to instilled some morals in her. Then when Sienna was fourteen her parents divorced and there was a custody battle until her mom was in a car accident and died/. Zach had to find out by Facebook his mother was dead and his friend told his dad had been arrested. Zach had been raised by nannies that were picked for their looks not their parenting skills. Sienna had just got a call from the private costly school Zach attended and he had been kicked out he had been in a fight and broke an expensive violin as well as Sienna would probably be sued as a girl's wrist had also been broken. Zach was the son of Platinum Joe who had once been the most successful and outrageously talent agent around but now Joe was in jail. For extortion. Mr. Fenchurch told sienna there was no antisocial behavior accepted at Point School. The violin was going to cost Sienna three and a half thousand and they will probably be sued by the little girl who had her wrist broken parent’s. Sienna had cut any ties from her father and his life style eight years ago’ Sienna’s father had a gambling addiction and was in jail for embezzlement. So somehow Sienna was responsible for her father's high court fees . Sienna had a trophy wife step mother who was Zach’s mother until she died from overdosing. Sienna had a one point a very promising art career sienna had planned to do a portrait over the next six weeks that would hopefully win the National portrait prize and restart her floundering career in art. Now Sienna wouldn’t have the money to pay the fee to enter the national contest and pay for materials, framing and entertainment for a prominent Australian figure while they sat for her. It didn’t help that Sienna nor Zach had any kind of normal upbringing. Sienna’s mother had at least tried to induce morals into her. When Sienna was fourteen her parents divorced and there was a custody battle until Sienna’s mom was killed in a car accident. Sienna had to try to rebuild her career . the only thing helping was Sienna’s mysterious benefactor Mason Xavier who still wanted her work. Carrie was Sienna’s best friend and that was who she thought was knocking at her door even if it was a little early for Carrie. Jason Dyson- who was a ruthless billionaire and Australia’s Business man Of The Year- was at Sienna’s door but Jason and Sienna hated each other. Then Sienna asked Jason why he was there and she reminded him how six months ago he had told her never to come near or speak to a member of the Dyson family again. Jason said he had changed his mind. The first time Jason and Sienna had been this close he offered to buy Sienna a drink and they had flirted with each other until he found out who she was. Jason stood for everything Sienna hated: money, greed, and power. Clint was Jason’s dead brother who had committed suicide and Sienna was blamed for his death. According to Clint Sienna was his muse and Clint was a talented artist. The second time Sienna had seen Jason was at Clint’s funeral that Jason had refused to let Sienna attend or even pay her respects to her friend. Then Jason brings up how broke Sienna is and how important her benefactor Mason Xavier was to her who was Jason’s good friend and had arranged for a unique birthday present - a portrait done by a very talented artist Sienna. The way Sienna was acting was not like the gold digger tease Clint had described should act. Jason had plans of revenge by using Sienna then destroying her like she did Clint. Jason called Sienna Clint’s girlfriend but Sienna said they were only friends and when his family turned on him for choosing art school instead of following in Jason’s shoes and joining the family business. she let him stay with her. Jason’s friend Thomas was a famous author and had wanted a picture done by Sienna and Jason arranged it and Thomas now had a portrait in his office Sienna had done. Now Thomas is determined to meet Sienna. Thomas was a good looking, rich and charming man and usually had no problems with the ladies. Jason was bothered by Thomas’s interest in Sienna in Thomas’s eyes. Son told his friend Jason to back off..
I loved this story it was a very enjoyable read. The plot was absolutely great. I loved the person Sienna was and how independent she was she left her father behind her because of his lifestyle and the people he was with. Sienna took in a man whose family turned their back on him because he wanted to follow his passion and he attacks her when she turns down his marriage proposal yet she forgave him and even felt horrible with Clint’s suicide. She was doing the best she could with her teenage half brother without any idea really how to raise him. Eventually Sienna does reach Zach. I also liked Jason as he almost immediately sensed he may be wrong is his assessment of her as he believed his brother. Also realizing half his problem was the guilt he felt for not sticking up for his younger brother when Clint needed him. But he does realize his mistakes Jason is a very intelligent man,. So to all this is well written story that I loved reading. I loved the characters and how they interacted and the ins and outs and Highly recommend.
Couldn't put this down! I know it is kinda cheesy, but it was sweet sexy and just a good story. I have to say I loved all the characters, even the supporting ones. Everyone had depth and just came alive. I was laughing out loud at some of their comments and dialogue.
Sienna, wow she was just a really great character. She had spunk and just lit the pages on fire when she was on them. She knew who and what she was and was so in touch with herself...I am so jealous! Sexy as hell too, I guess I am in a sista-romance!
James, what a f@ckwit, as Zach so elegantly calls him! He was really a jerk but, the author let us see inside him so we just didn't take him at face value. He grew into a wonderful person over the course of the story. You couldn't help but love him. He too is sexy as heck!
The other characters were wonderful and I would love to hear their stories! Even James' sister was interesting. Zach and Thomas stole the show though.
Great read! You will smile after you are done!
James Dyson, power media mogul, ruthless, extremely unforgiving and hell bent on vengeance for the death of his brother. His target the quiet, talented, somewhat reclusive artist Sienna Roberts.
Sienna grew up the child of a wealthy, powerful father whose illegal activities landed him in jail, saddled her with his debt and a 15 year old half brother who is a stranger to her. She walked away from that life at 18 when she saw the destructive power of money. For her, living simply and creating is all she needs. Now faced with raising this difficult boy, mounting debt and lack, her life takes another twist when James Dyson, the man who refused her entry to his brother's funeral shows up at her door with demands. Little does she know, he's setting in motion his long laid out plan to humiliate her and dump her. He's been watching and studying her for 6 months, things don't really add up, but he moves forward anyway. (Karma James, karma)
She's very resistant at first and then he wheedles his way in and there is no getting around the chemistry these two have. As much as she dislikes herself for being drawn to him, she can't help it.
And James, starting to see that perhaps he may have misjudged this woman in front of him.
There are some great twists and turns in the story and it's really well written. I had the love to hate you thing going with James, from beginning to end. He was so well written. I loved Sienna, for who she was and what she held back, not needing to defend herself for her life or choices. The book is a page turner and the story is riveting. It's a great story about those who pass judgement and what happens when they do. (Just the facts, Jack). Great book, add it to your need to read list. Great book Lexxie!!
I enjoyed this one, but I didn’t love it as much as I wanted.
Here, we have Sienna and James. James hates Sienna because he believes she hurt someone close to him. So, for months he’s been going step by step in his plan to destroy her. The thing is, that all goes out the window the moment he’s face to face with her and interacts with her frequently.
I disliked James a lot, lol. I knew he was avenging someone close to him, but I disliked the idea that anything goes. The more we get to know Sienna, the more obvious is the idea that things are not what they look like.
I liked Sienna a lot, she was really struggling and working for herself and her family. And as for James, he comes off as a jerk to me. Yeah, he really learned his lesson, but I really wanted to smack him a lot of the time.
It was a fun read, but all in all, I didn’t like James that much. :-P
Title: Stubborn Billionaire
Author: Lexxie Couper
4 unexpected stars
The Stubborn Billionaire is the first novel I've read by Lexxie Couper and all I can say is bravo. Bravo for creating characters that will make you laugh and then curse out loud because of their ability to overlook the simplest things and frustrate the heck out of you because of their stubbornness. Then you have to wonder just which of the two is more stubborn as the story unfolds. Dyson had it all planned out when he commissions Sienna for a piece of art - take her and her store down before she could realize what was going on. What neither expected, through the hate and constant fighting was for an attraction to form between them - on that neither could deny.
4 breath taking dreams
It was a very good book that kept me captivated from the very beginning and I really wanted to find out just how the situation would work out: how would Sienna react to Dyson's carefully thought out plan? Who would fold between them and admit how they feel for one another first? Would they make it together once they realize that they've played one another? So many questions that needed answering and I couldn't wait to find out just how it ended.
***3.5-4 Stars***
Ruthless Billionaire was a book full of hate, lust and passion. Lexxie Couper has woven an intense story of revenge, with well-developed characterization and an entertaining storyline.
Sienna Roberts is a talented artist in a difficult situation. Her father is in prison for embezzlement and she lives with her half-brother, a moody and spoiled teenager. The bills are piling up and she desperately needs to sell some of her artwork. Unbeknownst to her, one man has sworn to destroy her career and her life. Media mogul and billionaire James Dyson is bent on revenge. Sienna was his brother’s muse and he blames her for his death. James is broody, arrogant and entitled. He is the embodiment of everything Sienna despises, she questions his intentions and doesn’t trust him.
James is feeling unsettled and confused. His Machiavellian scheme is going awry. In this twisted game of hate and lust, he is bound to lose. He doesn’t do weakness, but he can’t control Sienna or his attraction to her. James is complicated, angry and tortured by his actions. He was not easy to like at first, but he was redeemable. The push and pull between him and Sierra was delicious, I found myself craving their interactions. I loved them together, the playful interactions and flirting. Sienna is a heroine I liked from the beginning of the story, she is strong, kind and selfless. James makes her feel again and gives her hope, despite her doubts about him.
I could not read this book fast enough and yet, I never wanted it to end. To be honest, I would have enjoyed it more if the author had taken more time to develop the backstory and the ending. I guess I needed more groveling and an epilogue. But overall, Stubborn Billionaire was an entertaining read and I will definitely follow this new-to-me author in the future. This book is part of a new series, but it can be read as a standalone.
The Stubborn Billionaire, IMHO, should have been titled The Stupid Billionaire. Honestly, the whole premise of the book just didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. From the hero's idea of getting revenge for his deceased younger brother's unrequited love for the heroine by deciding to have sex with her, to her just coincidentally being a talented painter who just happens to master in erotic, smexy paintings, some featuring orgies, that a not so secret/any idiot can figure out benefactor keeps commissioning...(the big question is why, folks)...to her always answering her door in a tank top and panties, which by the way is her favorite way to dress while painting. Throw in the cliche daddy dearest figure who the hero is a chip off the old block and seems to constantly be channeling/repeating in his head rules of emotional warfare on how to take down an enemy to the predictable, self-destroying outcome where he is inevitably forgiven way too easily. Then there is the crazy, erratic way his brother was acting should have been a clue he likely had some mental issues, likely because of the pressure put on him by his dysfunctional family. No, I guess it was easier just to point the finger and blame at someone else and go after them.
Here's to hoping it's just me, folks, and others enjoy it. I'm not so stubborn that I don't realize when I'm just not a good fit for a book. The plot and writing just wasn't agreeing with my idea of a well-written romantic read.
3.5 stars!
The Stubborn Billionaire does have your usual plot line of billionaire plus damsel in distress. However, the male lead in this book starts out as a really diabolical villain which doesn't really stop our female lead getting a bad case of the lust for him. They did have a light flirtation in the past that could have developed further if the plot device aka the possessive brother, did not sabotage it. It can be a bit melodramatic but funny enough it was more on James' side rather than Sienna's. In fact Sienna was kick ass. She was honest, down to earth and basically just trying to paint! The strong point of the book, kick ass down to earth heroine (it wasn't her fault people around her were really into drama) who is honest enough about her feelings plus it was really more erotica with a bit of romance.
Well, I must say I really liked this steamy revenge romance. The Stubborn Billionaire is just that, too.
James Dyson believes Sienna Roberts is responsible for something that fatally affected someone very close to him. He plans and schemes to get back at her, ruin her, really. And then he meets her and, uh oh, plan in danger. He is intrigued by Sienna and rightfully so. Sienna is good, like a truly good person. She's funny and artistic and cares for her younger brother more than anyone else in the world.
With these new feelings, he tries to woo her, but well, things happen and people are sad and James has to make up for being a idiot.
I enjoyed the book. The characters were great, the writing was great and the sex was HOT. The story was nicely wrapped up with a HEA.
What started out as a plan for revenge quickly changes as James Dyson really gets to know the woman he blames for his brother's death. Sienna Roberts is nothing like the woman Clinton described to him as a gold digger and a user. In fact she seems to be the complete opposite. Now he's really intrigued by her and won't stop until he finds out exactly who the real Sienna Roberts is.
This was a great read with fantastic writing and characters. I would absolutely recommend this book to everyone.
3.5
Grief tends to make us feel things more strongly. This was all started by accusations delivered by a sick, injured soul. A grief stricken brother, already feeling guilty over how his brother was treated before he died, seeks revenge on an innocent woman. Then he falls in love with her himself.
Sienna, over the past six months, has had to deal with more than enough for one person. Her friend and roommate, Clinton, changed becoming aggressive in regards to his feelings for her, her estranged Dad, the one whose lifestyle she walked away from eight years ago, went to prison and somehow she's know responsible for his legal bills, she became the sole guardian for her constantly acting out fifteen-year-old half-brother, Zach, and her once flourishing art career has become virtually non-existent except for one loyal client, Mason Xavier. To make her life even more stressful, the one man she never wanted to see again is knocking on her door. James is Clint's older brother and when she and James first met, there was an instant connection and attraction, which changed immediately upon James learning her connection to Clint. The second time she saw him, James barred her from Clint's funeral and ordered her to stay away from his family.
James is a successful businessman and part of the Dyson family. He blames Sienna for his brother, Clint's, death, believing her manipulations of Clint's feelings for her to be the catalyst to him committing suicide. The Dyson men are known for the ruthlessness when necessary, and James intends to use that quality along with any and all tools at his vast disposal, including himself if needed, to destroy Sienna piece by piece. And if, during the course of his plans, he's able to finally act on the chemistry that burns between them, he'll chalk it up to a bonus, just one more way to hurt her.
James began his plans after the funeral and now the next phase is being set in motion. He knows Sienna's dire circumstances will ensure she can't refuse his reason for contacting her, and he fully intends to use that to suit his purposes. Sienna will be his, err will pay for what she's done. And yet, everything he's learned of her in the past six months, from his investigation into her as well as his own personal impressions upon getting to know her, don't quite match the picture Clint painted of her. (Ha, an artist reference that works on numerous levels...you'll see after reading the book.) It isn't long before James sees Sienna as so much more than a means to an end...she's becoming his everything.
"He needed her." - James
Sienna is suspicious of James's change of heart, yet she can't deny she does need the money to continue taking care of Zach, as well as her Dad's debt, plus, she's still drawn to James in spite of how he views her.
"Damn it, he was going to be her undoing." - Sienna
What happens when James realizes he's falling for Sienna? That she's nothing like he was led to believe? Is he too late to stop the rest of his plan? If revenge is a dish best served cold, then why are things between them so hot? How will Sienna react upon learning James's true motive for contacting her? Can he convince her that although his initial plan may have been revenge, he now just wants to, needs to, be with her? Will Sienna give James another chance? Can she trust him? Will the love they've found withstand the secrets that are revealed?
One-click now and follow along as two people, one determined to exact revenge, the other unaware of the motives of the man she's falling for, become so much more than either thought they could be. The premise was unique and I liked the characters, even as James was in the midst of his deception, I liked the peeks we were given into his true character, his conscious speaking to him, and to how deeply Sienna impacted him. Also, I just need to say I love that he wasn't a manwhore and we weren't treated to numerous references of his sexual history, nor subjected to every woman he meets hitting on him. Yes, it was stated while they were at a gallery event that a few had tried, and that was it, we didn't have to actually witness it, and he definitively, yet politely, let them know he was in no way interested. He had eyes for Sienna and Sienna only. And so you don't think the opposite sex hitting on a main character was one sided, in that same paragraph we read how James didn't hesitate to let the men watching Sienna know she was with him. Even though for Sienna, James made all others fade away. It was very sweet.
Okay, I have to admit to you all that I'm not ordinarily a fan of the billionaire/millionaire romance genre as a whole. I just typically can't get into them for some reason, but I do occasionally read them and find a gem worthy enough to note to you all. So I'm happy to report that The Stubborn Billionaire was definitely one of them!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book more than I expected, guys. But then again, I should have anticipated that given the fact that Lexxie is one of my favorite authors who never ever disappoints me. Trust me when I say that this enemies to lovers book was perfectly witty, downright sexy, and it had just the right amount of romance to make me believe that Sienna and Dyson fell hard and fast for one another. The situation between them is a complex one given the secrets and deception going on, but the chemistry is undeniable and these two opposites definitely attract.
Overall, The Stubborn Billionaire has made me rethink my stance on the billionaire romance genre as a whole, and I find myself looking forward to more of her books in this Muse series. So bring it on Lex, because I'm eagerly anticipating that next book and I do so hope it will be with the delicious Thomas St. Claire!
The Stubborn Billionaire was a great read that had everything that I like in a story. This story was filled with romance, laughter, sadness but overall it showed that revenge is something that can back fire. The characters were well developed and the storyline was great. James was a man that believed what he believed but sometimes what appears is not what appears. Then there was Sienna an incredible woman that had a rough life with her parents. Now she is taking care of her step brother and is trying to take care of him. He has also gone through so much and his acting out is because of what happened to his family. Sienna and Zachery have a lot to get through in order for them to act like brother and sister. She is a very strong woman and she is going to need her strength for the very end.
This was a steamy read and one that I enjoyed reading!!!
This audio is absolute junk food -tastes GREAT - very good, pure sugar rush lol, but I really liked it! It has full story, lots of heat, emotion, drama, angst all in under 5 hrs so what's not to like?
Pro's are It is short! It was free on my audible subscription. Narrated by Rupert Channing whose voice and accent are SO SEXY I could listen to him read the phone book.
Ruthless billionaire James thinks Sienna is money grubbing gold digger that entrapped and rejected his younger brother which caused him to kill himself.
Sienna is erotic artist, free spirit that just wants to paint - no interest in $$$.
It is revenge plot gone wrong. He sets out to ruin her but he will get ruined in the end.
The erotic vibes remind me a lot of Forever Never by Lucy Score with the forbidden lust and backstory behind the story. Side characters added to the plot especially Sienna's younger teenage brother who she is caring for while her father is in prison.
I felt like I've read several of Lexxie's books, but I don't remember the others being written in the same way. This book has the delicious tension that has you panting and wanting more, but it also has a complete and satisfying storyline that wraps up in a way that I love. I think of her other works as shorter novels that are mostly about great sex scenes, (or maybe that's just me...lol) but this one had really well developed characters. James, our hero, was a jerk, but he became loveable and changed his mind without the heroine trying to convince him. He just realized he was wrong and came to believe that his perception of Sienna was wrong. Sienna was strong and independent, and she wasn't swayed by James family or money. I loved the way she connected with her brother.
Ms. Couper pulled a fast one. I went into this story knowing that I was going to dislike James and I came out even more intrigued by him. That are various layers to both James and Sienna that are hard to endure but kept me enraptured all the same. What neither understands is there is no black and white when it comes to the heart. That gray area almost always wins. The Stubborn Billionaire is a complex story that begins with revenge and ends with love.
Love Lexxie Couper's work!! I'm so very happy she is working on a new series!!
This book took me a bit to get into....James was such a 'f*uckwit' and Sienna was in a bad situation due to her father and what James had planned. Finally James learned that who he thought Sienna is/was was not who she really is.
Wonderful book/story if/when you give it a chance.
Lexxie's writing as always is spot on and terrific! Loved this story and wish there was more of it. It's my only overall complaint about her work, it's so good, I wish it was LONGER! It's not a short story or a novella by any means, but in depth back story would be fun and intriguing to read. Loved the HEA and as always, look forward to reading more from this amazing Author from down under!
I received this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
It took me a little longer than normal to read this book. I think it is because I was so pissed at James Dyson. I know that we all over react to characters for different reason but James Dyson jumped off the pages and exuded power, He is a powerful man that believes Sienna has done something morally wrong. But what makes me most pissed off at him is that he doesn't ask questions, he makes assumptions. Putting the plan in place he gets close enough to Sienna to really understand who she is and what happened. But will it all be too late in the game of revenge to change course when you find your true love?
Lexxie Couper is a brilliant author that is able to take the reader on a journey and evoke emotions from just words on a page.
