This is a traditional Navajo folktale of many animals coming together to help one another survive the flood.
This is a beautiful story of community, care, helping one another, and working together. The text-to-text connection would be to the story of the great flood in the Bible.
Based on a Navajo folktale, this story is very similar to Noah and the flood. Without any humans in the story, it is a very interesting example of traditional folktales. The illustrations are great, using interesting techniques and design features. This book would be of particular interest in November when our thoughts go to turkey.
the artistic style is very interesting. It’s almost like it’s done with charcoals and pastels and I know I like the artistic style even though it is very dark for a children’s book with very muted colors. It is still very nicely done very nicely done.
this book is about working together for the common good.
I thought that this was a very cleverly written book. The illustrations were wonderful, and the tale kept the students wondering until the very end. This would be a great book to use to teach about folk tales, and to use for making predictions.
