If I win, and I always win, I get an animalistic rush that can only be satiated by a woman’s body. And there she is, waiting to interview me.
Erica
I wasn’t attending the NFL game to see Kyle Murphy, like everyone else. I was there because I had a job to do. I had an interview to take, and I was willing to do anything to get it.
Chiseled body, six-pack abs, permanent obnoxious smile. He decided to undress in front of me, in the locker room. And then he invited me to watch him take a shower.
And I was floored. All self-control was out of the window. He was going to have me, and I was willing to abandon all professional ethics for the sake of the interview I wanted.
But then everyone found out. And I was left with a secret that not even he can find out.
Kyle
I get an adrenaline rush after I win a game. An instant, animalistic instinct that can only be satiated by a woman’s body.
So I was lucky that Erica Lee, a fresh-faced young reporter was waiting for me after the game.
But unlike all my other fans, she was a tough nut to crack.
When I succeeded, it was like nothing else. I had to have her again. I wanted more.
So when my manager said I needed a pretend girlfriend to clear my name, I knew exactly whom I wanted...

The only reason that it isn't getting a one star is that this was packed with a variety of stories and some of them were okay-ish.
Overall, though, would definitely NOT recommend. The plots were good ideas that just weren't carried through. The situations many of the characters faced were so unreasonable or unbelievable that I found myself eyerolling a few times. Speaking of the characters - they were so shallow and cookie-cutter that I wasn't sure what was worse. Them or the lack of realism. They lacking depth is an understatement.
Although it can be hard to let your characters shine in novellas, it can be done and has been done. And I honestly can't say that if any of these stories had been longer, it might have been better. In fact, I think had it been longer it might have ended up worse.
I know this is a harsh review, but that's how it was for me. Do I think the writer has potential to do better? Absolutely. I thought a few of her ideas were interesting with lots of potential. But unless she works on the other elements of the story, it'll just end up flat.
The idea for the story wasn't horrible, but the execution was, in my opinion, extremely flawed.
After the media was sold a compromising picture of Kyle and Erica, Kyle's manager, Lewis, was worried that Kyle would be made to look like a douche that only did interviews if he got to sleep with the reporter(s)...which is essentially what happened. For crying out loud, even Kyle had acknowledged that Erica would do anything for her career, even if it meant taking a 'shortcut.' 😒
Erica found out she was pregnant after only two weeks had passed since she slept with Kyle. The author made no mention of Erica being late; instead, she was throwing up almost immediately and took a pregnancy test (again, almost immediately). 😐😑
The author has Kyle "saving the day again" in one of the games by kicking a perfect ? (I'm assuming field goal, but it's not actually stated). Kyle's position on the team [quarterback] is literally in the title of the story. To be fair, I'll be the first to admit that I know pretty much nothing about football, so perhaps I'm mistaken...but I thought QBs don't kick the ball? 🤷🏼♀️
The pace at which they "fell in love" with each other was completely ridiculous. I get that, sometimes, people know when they're with 'the one' nearly right away, and that this is a romance novel, so of course the pace is going to be faster than something that would happen in real life. But the fact that they "fell in love" after having known each other for TOPS 1.5 months is completely unrealistic given that they barely spoke to each other. At the very least, the author failed to clue us readers into their frequent conversations.
There were several spelling/grammatical errors, but altogether it wasn't too horrible/distracting--certainly not the worst problem with the story.
Overall, it *might* be worth a read if you can get it for free; I definitely don't think it's worth paying any amount of money to read.

Erica is a sports journalist hoping for her big break in a interview with the football star. Kyle, who was just polled as Sexist Man, is attracted to Erica and plays with her to get her to agree to sex in the shower to get her interview.
She is tough. After sex, she puts on his shirt, leaving him nothing to wear and gets him to send someone out to buy her an outfit. Kyle answers her questions, and her interview gets national attention.
BUT the interview backfires, when a photo of the two of them after the shower scene is released. She loses her job, since she got the interview through sex. Likewise, his popularity hits the skids.
Erica agrees to stay at his penthouse and make it look like they are having a relationship. Also, she knows she is pregnant now with his child. She wants one memory of him before she disappears to a small town to raise their child.
A fast paced story with strong emotions as the couple try to hide their true feelings from each other. Love wins out!
We meet Erica a sports journalist trying to make her dad proud (you go Erica you don't need to be a boy to like football) she lands a great interview with the NFL star quarterback Kyle Murphy!! She knows something about him he's cocky and a manwhore.. The interview has some setbacks thanks to Kyle.. from avoiding her questions to having her try to interview him in the locker room showers.. Once she gets the interview and some hot sex.. she leaves.
Few weeks go by and drama pops up!! Someone took a picture of the moment between the 2 in the locker room mention Kyle only gave Erica the interview due to sexual favors.. Trying to squash that story his manager has a plan.. have them fake date then break up later. everyone wins.. But it isn't that easy as it seems Erica ends up Knocked up keeping this a secret.
Shall Kyle know he's going to be a father? Is Erica going to stay in the city?
Instalust/love Cocky manwhore rough football star Sassy Stubborn hardworking gal Drama Fake relationship trope No cheating Exhibition Sizzling sex HEA
A cocky jock & a sports journalist are forced to pretend to be together after they’re photographed together in the showers. Unfortunately what they don’t know is that life is changing for them in more than 1 way. After a rocky start cocky jock realizes that he’s in deep & he needs to make her understand how real this is.....difficult job.
This part of paragraph leads me to believe the H was screwing other women in the three weeks between meetings:
“This news report had come as a blessing in disguise. No matter how many other women I fucked, Erica Lee had been on my mind since I first met her and I was about to have her again.”
So, nope, from me. Could have been okay otherwise.
Erica is a sports journalist who is looking for her big break as well as her father's approval. Kyle is the cocky jock who gets what he wants. When he meets Erica he realizes she is different from the women with whom he usually finds himself attracted. This is a quick to read with some steamy scenes.
This is a very good story of two totally different types of personalities who meet under unusual circumstances and then find a way to become much more to each other than they ever expected. I loved the HEA.
The story revolves around a female reporter who gets the break of a lifetime, interviewing a star athlete. But as so many other books out there she ends up pregnant. Will she get her man or will he walk away?
Yes I understand it is a short story, but I was not happy over the interview scene. Felt like that and her relationship with her father were tired, old stereotypes that do not apply anymore.
short and sweet and so satisfying! This story is why I read romance...love at first sight with extremely hot quarterback who isn't afraid to take a risk...just perfect!
Short story about a reporter and star football player’s hook up in the locker room turning into a HEA. They is a lot of ways this story could be turned into a novel.
