Having decided to put on their very own circus, Miss Bindergarten and the entire kindergarten are busy preparing all the entertainment, festivities, and refreshments for the big day.
I think the book was fun but also kind of odd at the same time. The end pages about color seem a little forced. There is definitely a lot going on in the book and it would be really fun for children to look at all the illustrations. I do think the rhyming in this book is a little more smooth than a few of the others in the series.
Another excellent book in this series. The A to Z animals and their kindergarten teacher are getting ready for a circus. Each page tells what each animal does to get ready, and interspersed with those pages are pages with the refrain, "Miss Bindergarten plans a circus with kindergarten." The students make costumes, paint posters, blow up balloons, make snacks, and soon it's the big day. "The planning is all done. The circus has begun." Once again, the lively, colorful illustrations and the variety of animals (even a lion in a wheel chair) makes this a hit for children thinking about going to kindergarten. After the story there is a short lesson on colors.
I read "miss Bindergarten..." to my 5 year old granddaughter. She loved the humerous illustrations. Her favorite part was the kindergarten children all working together to plan a circus. I liked the way Slate named the participating kindergartners in alphabetical order and they all pitched in for the show. Rhyms were creatively used to describe each character or their activities. Miss Bindergarten Plans a Circus with Kindergarten was enjoyable to read out loud. The book keeps the child'd attention while getting a fun opportunity to be exposed to skills needed in Kindergarten. We will certainly read this book over again.
Miss Bindergarten is planning a circus with her kindergarten class. In the story there is a lot of repetition and all of her students have names in the alphabet from A to Z. I would use this book help my students practice their alphabet (learning them and writing them). I could also use this book if we did a circus themed unit. Also, I could have my students write about a time that they have been to the circus and what their experience was like. If they haven’t been to a circus, then they could write about what they think it would be like to go to a circus.
This book is great for the students to learn their alphabet. It has very detailed illustrations. There is a a lot of rhyming going on with the names used for the alphabet and a set of repetitive words. At the end of the book, the author has implemented colors and combinations of colors. Therefore, it is also a great book for the students to learn their colors.
Has a repetitive sentence in the text that could be repeated for read alouds but it interrupts the sentences that start with the alphabet letters as student names. At the end of the book, a class photo pages shows that each student is an animal that alliteratively has a first name with the same letter (ex. Ophelia the otter).
I love this book. It is so full of color and action. It is a great book for your class if you are teaching a lesson on colors, the alphabet, having a circus or in Kindergaten. This book is full of repetation and rhyming.
This is a great book to read to a kindergarten class prior to planning a class presentation. I think that it says alot about team work. This book is also good for teaching rhyming words, phonetic awareness, onomonopia's, colors, and animals.
This is a great alphabet and color book. Each letter of the alphabet is the beginning letter of a kids name. Miss Bindergarten helps her students plan and put on a circus for their parents.
Miss Bindergarten books are so creative. They rhyme, they are alphabetical and so charming. My kids have enjoyed them and I recommend them as excellent read alouds or for kids who can read them.
