Blaze of Glory

Rate this book
Air Force captain Bobby "Postal" Ruznick wouldn't consider working a job that didn't occasionally scare him to death. But nothing gets under his skin like sexy profiler Dr. Grace Marie Lanier. Not that Dr. Uptight Lanier could tolerate his risk-taking ways when they'd struck sparks off one another on assignment a year ago. Now it looks as though the two of them are stuck with each other once again.

Being paired with Bobby's Special Ops crew sends Grace Marie's calm, collected existence into a tailspin. Not only does she have an assignment of utmost importance to complete...but she's got little recourse except to turn for help to the one man who threatens her orderly world the most -- Bobby.

Now with one week to stabilize a situation that could destroy the lives of countless others, Bobby and Grace Marie are about to learn that to save the world, they'll have to risk their hearts.

Hero’s one of Mann’s patented Air Force guys. Heroine is a reservist, a psychologist who works as a police profiler in her dayjob. They had a hot fling during a posting to Iraq, and she broke it off when they returned home. But neither has been able to forget the other, and she’s maneuvered her way onto a posting to check out a situation in Africa, because her father’s involved in the “situation.” He’s a brilliant scientist who also happens to be bi-polar, and he hasn’t called in a while, so she’s worried. And then there’s the issue of the hot hero. Good story. The bad guys are a bit on the bizarre side—but then real life bad guys often are, so...

I was disapppointed in this book from the very beginning. Just felt there was something wrong about making light of a war situation. Felt off. This was the first book I read by this author.

First, Cathy is one of my favorite authors. I have loved everything she's written. Her stories always touch my heart and soul. I pray you experience the same when you read her books.

Now in this, Catherine brings together psy-ops Lieutenant Grace Marie Lanier from the Army Reserves with Bobby "Postal" Ruznick, a test pilot for the Air Force with ADHD. She also brings together Gracie's bi-polar father, genius, Matt Lanier, with sexy spy, Felicia Frater..... They're involved with spies, terrorists and dirty nukes in Cantou. The plot itself is interesting and keeps your attention. My favorite though was watching the relationships develop and the sensitivity Cathy took with people ADHD and Bi-polar. You fall in love with the characters because of how the fall in love and deal with the mental issues in a healthy supportive way. I'm particularly partial to the bi-polar aspect, because my husband (of 22years) is bi-polar. He's also former Army Infantry, so I'm more moved than usual.

Read this book. It's awesome in so many ways.

What a blessed relief to read a military/Special ops book where the guy isn't an Alphole. Six months ago I would probably only have given this three stars but after the formulaic books I've read recently this was a gem.

Grace Marie is a shrink with the Police and an army reservist. Bobby (Postal) is a crazy pilot. They have a few dates but Grace breaks things off. Nine months later and Grace's father has not contacted her for weeks. He is bi-polar and Grace is worried that he may be having an episode so she takes full advantage of the opportunity to go on assignment and try to rescue him.

Bobby had a rough childhood and suffers from ADHD, he doesn't feel he deserves someone as well-balanced as Grace, but she has spent her childhood looking after her father. In the past nine months neither has forgotten the other. Can they make it work?

Great story.. I was surprised to find the main hero struggled with ADHD. I don't believe I have every read a romance that even mentioned this. It gave great insight showing how he viewed things...and 'struggled' at times to keep things together.... Sort of an inner turmoil. He was smart, thoughtful and strong (handsome too!) just what you want your hero to be like! Lots of action and suspense..Really enjoyed it.

Picked up this book at the library, because it was on my Recommended List from Goodreads......let's see if they were right.

6/4/12

The book was so-so. I may try another book by Catherine Mann to see if I just happened to select a book written by her that was so-so while others are great. I quick easy read, while I waited for other books to become available at my local library!

I can't put my finger on it but something was missing from this book. It was a good story but there just wasn't enough for me. I also didn't like how Gracie's dad ended up with Felicia.
